TL;DR: They're amazing and you should use them! This was our second time using Good Guys and both times have been amazing! We called yesterday morning when we noticed our AC was not kicking on and they were able to get a tech out today! Butch arrived on time and was friendly as could be. He wasted no time jumping in and trying to diagnose the problem. He went through everything he could think of, figured it out, and advised us of best solutions. We never felt pressured or unsure of the decisions we were making. He also pointed out things to keep an eye on, as they appeared to be going bad or outdated, but again, never once did he push for us to buy or do anything now. He was also honest with us about replacing the unit altogether (yes, you're thinking he wants us to spend the money and they make it), but the unit is 32 years old with a life expectancy of 20, soo he's not wrong. Beyond suggesting a new unit he priced out different components that we could replace, as we wanted to, in order to squeeze as much life out as we could. We were already considering replacing, so he helped us set up a no obligation consultation later this week. And honestly, if not for the service and respect we've been shown, we'd consider shopping around more, but this family owned company has earned our business and trust for years to come! After having hot air instead of cool air blowing out our house vents we found our heat pump was not running, just the air handler. I don't usually leave reviews like this, but I think it's important to share my experience so others can make informed decisions. What started as a straightforward job based on a phone conversation ended up being very different once work began. Their son, Butch, handled the visit, and the pricing came in significantly higher than what was originally discussed. I wasn't onsite at the time since I'm actively flipping homes, so I had to rely on communication from their side, which in hindsight wasn't ideal. The bigger issue for me was the service contract. We were sold on follow up service that was supposed to be included, but it was never honored. I followed up consistently over the course of more than a year with texts and calls and was repeatedly given different reasons for delays. At a certain point, it just became a cycle of excuses with no resolution. By the time anything could have been addressed, the service plan had effectively expired, which made the whole thing feel meaningless. I understand that personal situations come up, and I was told about accidents and hardships. I respect that. But from a business standpoint, communication and accountability still matter. There was no clear timeline, no follow through, and no effort to make it right. To be fair, I've heard good things about the company overall, but my experience did not reflect that. I ended up using Clark & Rush instead and had a much smoother experience with clear pricing and timely service. My advice is simple. Get everything in writing, confirm pricing before work begins, and make sure expectations around any service contract are clearly defined. If you're not onsite, stay closely involved. I do have records of communication with dates and timestamps if needed for verification. Based on my experience, I can't confidently recommend them at this time. read more

Good Guys saved the day! Our bathroom ceiling was suddenly caving in due to a leak from the air conditioner we suspected. I called Good Guys after hours and Butch was at our house within an hour and a half to take a look and figured out exactly what was going on. Our heating and air unit was old and they discovered what was causing the leak and found fire hazards we had no idea was happening! We have had our heating and air unit inspected and serviced several times and previous service people never found these issues that good guys discovered. It's a good thing We found good guys, because the next Emergency would have been a fire, And they showed us pictures where some insulation Had already burned in the past. Then they came back first thing in the morning with a new Heating/AC unit and got to work! They used a big crane to get the unit up and the old unit down... pretty impressive! New units and installation are not cheap for heating and air of course, so they were kind enough to help us process the loan we needed also. It was quick and easy. Dodged a bullet with this company. Set up an appointment for them to come to my house for Whole House Fan Repair. They quoted me a $99 service fee to check on it. They asked what type of fan, they asked if there was a warranty on it. The girl I spoke to sounded very knowledgeable. Couple days later got a message that they do not do that kind of repair and cancelled the appointment. Called Mr. electric of Roseville and they are coming out instead with no charge. read more

With the recent rains, I had a water leak coming from my roof around my AC unit. I have a lot of rental properties and have used Good Guys before and they came out and took care of the leak. While they were out we decided to do a duct upgrade since the existing ones were 50+ years old and leaked enormously .. they knew how to do the work right, got it done quickly, and was able to get a roofer there to do some roof repairs too. We've purchased two HVAC systems from Good Guys and every experience we've had with their team members has been very positive. Last week we had our units serviced for the fall switch over. Jacob was our tech and he was prompt, careful and very friendly. He determined that we needed new return air grates so he called his office and arranged for replacements. Jake was great and even vacuumed our carpet before he left. 1of 2 2 of 2: Today, one week later, Lucas came for the follow-up appointment to replace our two 12' ceiling fresh air return vent grates. He was on time, very attentive and very careful transporting his large ladder through the house. He replaced both grates in about 45 minutes, include wiping down the grates and feathering touch up paint around the grates. He made our chore of replacing furnace filters much easier & safer. I'm very happy I chose Good Guys to take care of my HVAC issues. Decades of deferred maintenance resulted in no A/C, a faulty heater, and decaying ineffective ductwork. I contacted Good Guys and within a week the issues were all resolved. Randy provided the inspection and estimates on a Tuesday. On the following Tuesday, (after Thanksgiving), Chris, Clinton, Dillon, Mike... and a few more... showed up promptly at 8am. (They were actually early but politely waited in their caravan of trucks until the stroke of 8.) By 4pm they had completed all of the work, plus some extra related items they noticed they could help with. There were two crews working at the same time. One crew was removing the old HVAC, rebuilding the platform, rewiring and installing a new larger and more efficient system. The other crew was removing the old duct work and decayed insulation and then reinstalling new duct work while also rerouting it to improve efficiency. The owner, Bill, stopped by early to check that the teams were executing the plan without issues and we chatted for a bit. Then he was off to the next job site to provide the same quality service. Before the they left, they cleaned to jobsite inside, outside, and under the house. Chris also showed me how to use my new thermostat which I can now control remotely with my iPhone. The quote for the work was in line with other quotes I received, by slightly lower. He put on his little slippers over his shoes to make sure he didn't dirty my floors! After he was done he vacuumed my floors around the area he was working in! He answered all my questions! The star only goes to the workers who installed the mini split system. The nice guys! Service was done last year in August 2024. Waited almost a year to give them benefit of the doubt. Hated install because owner talked my husband into placing the other compressor in front of house on my front deck Owner also discouraged getting permits. Said it was a waste of money. Was assured the project plan recommended by his project manager who was never involved with the installation until the whole system was up, was plenty for the upstairs area. It wasn't and had to pay more to install another head. Was assured it was quiet. My peaceful mornings are now interrupted by the hum and rattle of the compressor up in front of the house on top of I have to stare up at the compressor with the wiring cover starkly obvious in front of the house shaped like a monstrous white bent Phallus. Again, instead of a cup of peaceful coffee in the morning, I'm sitting on my front deck with this distracting sound and visual monstrosity staring me down. You know what Bill the owner's answer to that was? Build a patio cover so I won't have to stare at it. He charged a supposedly discounted 31K plus another 3K to get the extra head after initial install ( which they in correctly figured out ). Mind you, this fix was splitting the cost with them. Owner was well aware we were seniors. We feel we were pressured into agreeing because the project manager said the 0 percent financing was only good to July 31, 2024 only to find out it was not true according to the financing bank Wells Fargo. In fact, Good guys are still offering the same financing option. Far as we're concerned , the Good guys made claims about the system that were not true, they did not really make concessions to fix the issues but instead made us pay for their mistakes and the biggest one I won't be able to fix since I'm in debt financing this thing for 5 years and hating every minute of it is I will have to have another company move the compressor out of the front to the side or back of the house out of site to get the system installed the way we wanted during the pre planning with the original project manager. How they have it installed now will cost us more money if we ever have to fix or install siding. That was of course never a consideration for the owner because it would no longer be his problem. He got his money leaving us in our retirement years embarrassed and unhappy for at least the next 4 years until we can finance the fix. So when the Good guys claim they're not happy if you're not happy, that's not true. They've left us pretty unhappy and feeling raped like most used car sales people do to their customers. We had them do some work a year and a half ago and knew we had to have the entire attic ducting redone, but waited because of the cost (we had just moved into the house and had lots of expenses). This time they came out for our yearly inspection and we decided to have them do the work. The first tech, Nick, did the inspection. He was thorough and friendly. Called Good Guys Heating & Cooling to take a look at our mini-split which had sprung a leak. The first technician who came out took the cover off our unit and uncovered the pipes and never put any of it back, leaving the unit exposed to dust and potential damqge. On top of that, Good Guys ended up quoting us $2800 to fix the leak and sent out a second technician to try to sell us a newer, bigger unit for well beyond what the repairs would cost. My husband ended up repairing the unit himself for less than $200.00. Good Guys is just after your money. read more

Where to begin?! My husband and I have been putting off replacing our ac unit for 3 years now, only doing bandaid fixes. We finally had it melt down on us this summer with this extreme heat.
