I received a text from PG&E that I was using excessive kw. I figured it had to be the electric furnace. When I walked into my place the furnace was on full blast and it was over 95 degrees in the house. I turned off the power to the unit and I called Alpine. I scheduled for the next day. Jason showed up right on time, found the problem was two fold and replaced a welded contactor and installed a new "Next" style thermostat that I supplied. I would highly suggest them. read more

Company was quick to respond and techs were nice. They tried to fix the problem but I had a unique one and they could not fix it. However I was charged almost $1000 for a part that was replaced that turns out was not the cause of the problem. Emailed the company trying to see about getting a partial refund and have received no response in several weeks even though I know they typically respond very quickly. Just be aware if you need follow up you may be ghosted. read more

Scott and his team (Darrin, Josh and Will) are all clean cut, hard-working, professionals with good attitudes. Our AC went out in July, on probably the hottest day of the summer. Scott was quick to return our initial call, assess our needs, and provide a quote. Our old system was loud, always cycled on and off, and constantly required manual adjustments. During the summer the upstairs was too hot and downstairs too cold. In the winter, it was the opposite. It wasn't until we had our new, dual zoned system installed that we realized just how comfortable we could be in our own home. We no longer hear or think about it...and we're always comfortable. Our home is 25+ years old, it has two heating and air conditioner systems. We had attempted to do some maintenance and ended up with one a Frankenstein system (heating and air top floor) and another partially functional (heating and air lower floors) system. It was a mess. We called Scott, he visited with us, took his time and evaluated what we had and what we wanted. We felt a sense of confidence with Scott and after evaluating 3 additional providers we selected Alpine Heating & Air Conditioning. Scott's staff are amazing, the didn't mess around, they rebuilt two systems, taking time to understand the air flows in the home and correcting issues caused by years of neglect and original installation. We had one adventure during the rebuild, one of the furnaces was apparently home to a few hundred (maybe more) wasps, the guys did not panic, just sent us out to purchase a few wasp bombs and moved on to the other system while we dealt with the invasion. Once they came back to the 1st system, not only did they rebuild it, but they took the time to determine how the pests were getting in and resolved that problem. We now have two new systems, providing much better heating and air service than we have ever experienced. Our fuel and electric bills have decreased dramatically and I think we are good for another 20+ years. Around 3pm on Thanksgiving eve, my house was unusually cold, and by 4pm, I realized my furnace 'went out', and I attempted to troubleshoot it myself (with minimal success). I Yelped "HVAC", and my second call was to Alpine HAC. Seeing it was Thanksgiving eve, I was appreciative (and somewhat surprised) that they would 'answer', and Heather (the office manager) was extremely nice over the phone. Understandably, all the service technicians were unavailable, but she said she would have Scott (the owner) give me a call asap. 15 minutes later, Scott called me! He was friendly, professional, courteous, etc. over the phone, gave me some 'Internet leads', and offered to come out the day after Thanksgiving for the service call; NICE! Due to my schedule, Scott came out the next next week, troubleshot my situation, and gave me four options: 1) leave it broken and use my wood stove for heating, 2) source the part via the Internet and fix it myself, 3) have Alpine order the part and repair it, and 4) get a brand new furnace. I went with option #3. A few days later Heather called me to let me know the part had arrived and to schedule an appointment, and Scott called me that morning to let me know his eta. Such SIMPLE communication is so easy, nice and truly appreciated! When Scott arrived, he again was friendly, professional and courteous (and better looking than usual - LOL!), he installed the new inducer motor, and while we were in the attic gave me 'an overview explanation of the internal furnace operation'. Now my furnace is working like a champ again! In summary, my experience with Alpine HAC, was pleasant, professional, courteous, helpful, efficient, expedient, etc., and I don't feel like 'I was $ taken to the cleaners'. We wanted to replace our entire system and keep our business local, so a friend recommended Alpine Heating and Air. We needed to add exhausted fans in the bathrooms, a whole house fan, and an attic fan too. We got an estimate from a bigger company, but they just gave us a total without breaking down the costs for each part of the job. Scott from Alpine on the other hand, thoroughly explained the different options and sent an estimate that itemized the work and provided three different options for the main unit price. All of which were a better value than the first estimate we got. We went with Alpine and we're glad we did. Scott stayed in consistent contact in the time leading up to the job, so we always knew where we were in the cue. Josh and Darren were the crew who did most of the work and they were real pros. They arrived on time, cleaned up at the end of the day, and respected our request to wear masks while in the house during the four days it took to get it all done. We've been testing everything out for the last few days and we're thrilled with the new system. The outside unit is so quiet my neighbor suggested he should throw some money in on the project. It's always nerve racking going through the bidding process, especially for something that is going to last for years to come. I had already received many bids and then saw my neighbor having a unit replaced. Asked for Scott to come over to take a look at mine and felt immediate trust. He laid out some options based on my needs and we decided to proceed. We swapped from a propane furnace to electric as well as a new A/C. The crew was incredibly professional and very personable. I'd hang out with these guys any day of the week. It took two days to install and they cleaned up flawlessly at the end of each day. Called around 9 AM, Scott picked up the phone and said he could be at the house between 12 and 2. He was on time, checked the furnace and fixed it! I had contacted a couple of different contractors all of them were saying that they would need to hire a crane service, that was fine but I also wanted to have the unit placed at the other end of the house, out of site and nearly always shaded, Scott was the only one who didn't balk at the request and he also had his own crane and didn't need to sub it out, the cost was very fair, I will definitely be calling Alpine Heating & Air again if needed... I called Alpine because the company who installed my HVAC unit in my 2.5 year old house could not come look at it for over a week. We have been in a severe heat wave and my air conditioner was not working. Alpine was able to come the next day. That day it wound up working for them but they said if I had the issue again I should call them. Well it happened again in a week and I called them. They came out very quickly and said the printed circuit board (PCB) needed to be replaced. They worked with the manufacturer to get the part delivered quickly and came out and installed it very quickly (under the parts warranty). Steve, the owner is very professional and responsive. James, the technician who installed the PCB, was also excellent and even went so far as to tweak a couple settings that the original installer (the builder) had set up that kept the unit from working as well as it should. I cannot say enough about Alpine; their work was outstanding. read more

He got a part in a day that the other guys claimed was weeks out (during the coldest New Year's week in two decades) but found other existing issues. Brian came out the same day I called as my house was pretty cold this morning with heater not working. It was a minor thing with some insulation falling onto the motor. He didn't try to sell me, he just fixed it and made a couple recommendations on maintenance I can keep up on. He was timely and fairly priced! I had asked Alpine to come out and check my system to see if circulation could be improved in a couple of the rooms in my home and to see why we were having so much condensation coming out of both drains. The technician had a look at the units inside and outside, and suggested that there wasn't much to do without some new equipment. He promised to send us an estimate to let us know what costs would be involved. These estimates came out to around $15,000 in total for a new system. Given the expense, I asked for two more companies to come out. Both stated that one of our zone vents was stuck shut and one blower motor was inoperable. They explained how that would result in a freeze-up and lots of water drainage as the ice melts. The vent repair and motor replacement, with a little refrigerant added, came out to around $350. How Alpine did not notice the actual issues here, I don't understand. Maybe it was just a bad day, but we won't be asking them back. read more

Wow, I am impressed. I had two heater malfunctions with rental properties. After wasting a week with 2 companies I had used previously (Alton and Gosal - no response from either) I found Alpine. They jumped right on the issues the next day, got the tenants warm again. Pricing was fair and reasonable. The diagnosis was also 100% honest. One heater was a loose wire and was instantly fixed.
