This review is long overdue -- Paul Grew from Good Guys Home Inspection inspected my home back in late February 2025, and I'm still incredibly grateful for the service he provided. First, major kudos to Good Guys for their fair pricing. In a market where some inspectors charge $500 or more, their rates were refreshingly reasonable without sacrificing quality. This was my second home-buying experience, and I can confidently say my inspector from 2017 doesn't even come close to how awesome Paul was. The difference in quality, communication, and professionalism was night and day. Paul truly set a new standard for what a home inspection should be. As an active duty military member buying a new build remotely, I needed someone reliable, detail-oriented, and communicative -- and Paul checked every box. He's also prior military, and it shows. His professionalism, precision, and clear communication reflected the kind of discipline and care that comes from that background. From the start, Paul was personable and responsive. I actually called around during the Christmas holiday week, and he was one of the few who picked up the phone. He patiently answered all my questions, giving me genuine peace of mind without any salesy pressure or false promises. The home ended up needing three re-inspections before closing, and Paul never once rushed the process. He worked hand-in-hand with my realtor to make sure the builder addressed every single issue -- we were able to firmly delay closing until everything was properly resolved. His attention to detail was phenomenal. Though the report had a number of findings, the ones that stood out to me were nails protruding from the roof, gaps in the flooring, and a major gap in the roof fascia that would've easily let critters into the attic. I never would've caught those things on my own. If you're in the military or just want an honest, thorough inspector who truly advocates for you, I can't recommend Paul Grew enough. Even months later, I'm still thankful for how smooth and supported he made this process feel. read more

I am purchasing a home in San Antonio to be closer to aging parents. Purchasing a home when not living in the same city let alone state can be stressful and challenging. It is really important to pick the right builder and more importantly the right home inspector. I chose Good Guys Home Inspection based on their Yelp reviews and it was the best decision I made as soon as I made the call to Robert. I called Robert and left a voice mail, before I hung up, Robert texted me to say he would call be back in 20 minutes. He called me back before 20 minutes and apologized for missing my call. What incredible service! He reassured me that being remote was not a problem and stayed in contact with me the whole time. The builder was non-responsive, but Robert stayed in contact with me and even contacted the builder sales agent to get updates as well. I really appreciated his wonderful customer service and timely communication. The day of inspection came and Paul did the inspection. He met my dad at the house and walked my dad through the house and provided his feedback to my dad. He reassured my dad and that made me so happy. Then Paul sent a beautiful inspection report with details, pictures inline with the description and I could follow the details. They went out to my newly built home to inspect and I did not have to be there. I was glad because I couldn't be off from work. The report was very detailed and included pictures which I appreciated. Luckily there was nothing major found but they of course they did touch on some things that I wouldn't even have thought about. I would recommend them to everyone purchasing a home even if it is a newly built home. They build new homes fast because they have a deadline so you wanna make sure everything is good. Had them come back out for my end of the year builder warranty and I wasn't impressed this time around. Explanation on many items found were pretty vague on the report. They missed a few things around the house which included the whole master room/bath. When ask if they can come back out to inspect something I feel needed more addressing on the report, they said it wasn't necessary. My girlfriend and I reached out to Good Guys home inspection for help in inspecting a home we planned on purchasing in San Antonio. Based on yelp reviews, I decided this was our best choice. So, we scheduled an inspection and let them know we were in San Diego and unfortunately planned on buying this home "sight unseen". Good guys home inspection is a company you can trust, as an active duty service member I bought my home over the internet, and was very nervous and required a home inspection. I was referred to good guys home inspection, they were awesome, they called once the inspection was completed and walked me through what was found.
