Came to Tampa for the Florida State Fair, spent the night before, and I wanted to find somewhere nice for dinner. My vegan friend recommended Good Intentions, and I haven't had a nice vegan dinner in a while, so I decided to come see what this place was all about, in honor of my beloved Ethos. RIP. We make reservations, show up, park anywhere we can find in this wild, wild West portion of town, and start browsing the menu. It sounds absolutely delicious. We started off with the Southern Sriracha Crab Cakes (Hearts of palm and jackfruit crab cakes, sriracha pimento, Thai chili glaze, seitan bacon crumbles, pickled fresno, scallion, sesame). These were great. Very crispy, the inside was the spitting image of crab cake filler, and there was just enough Old Bay to really sell it. Spicy sauces and other elements made this quite the lovely little app. We also had the Crispy Brussels Sprouts (Dan Dan tahini, toasted cashews, pickled fresnos, scallion). Wow, this was good. Tahini was a great choice, the sprouts were crispy crispy, and the cashews added a wonderful little crunch. My main was the Kimchi Fried Rice (Crispy fried jasmine rice, scrambled JustEgg, kimchi, sweet soy reduction, fried crab balls, kewpie aioli, scallion, sesame seeds). Better than some of the non-vegan fried rices I've had in my life! Great rice with some nice crisp, flavorful but not too funky kimchi, a nice soy sauce, and a nice aioli to sauce things up a bit. I also got to try a bucatini bolognese of some sort that I can't find on the menu anymore. Maybe it was a special. But it was good. Really deceivingly real meat crumbles, a lovely sauce, and bucatini is one of my favorite noodles. Big fan. Overall, this was not a good vegan meal. It was a good meal. I love places like this. I think that more people need exposure to places like this. I'll be back. read more

Great all-vegan spot that does weekend brunch, which we decided to check out. I ordered the Breakfast Banh Mi ($17), which comes with breakfast potatoes, and my wife ordered the Slam Grand ($18) (pancakes, sausage or bacon, JUST Egg, and potatoes). We were both quite satisfied with our dishes, especially the sausage we each got. Therre's no drip coffee, just expensive espresso-based beverages ($6+). Also not impressed that they had a 3.5% "kitchen appreciation fee" to the bill, then prompt you for an additional standard tip on top of that. If you need to charge more, just add it to the dish price! But I guess we're in the age of restaurants needing to charge more for things without wanting to make food prices seem too inflated. What a gem of a restaurant! As a certified meat-lover, I wasn't sure if I would be satiated by a meal at an entirely vegan restaurant, but holy cow(tofu?) was this a fantastic meal! My group enjoyed the Crispy Brussel Sprouts, Whipped "Ricotta", and Buffalo Tempeh/Tofu Nuggets to start, and all of them were absolutely amazing and full of flavor! I think the Whipped Ricotta was my favorite, though I did find I could appreciate the flavors more when the pistachio pesto stayed unmixed. For my entree, I enjoyed the Skyway Melt, a patty melt I'm already planning to go back for because it was THAT good. Even as a non-vegan, I found the Beyond smashburger meat to be absolutely delicious, and it honestly just tasted like delicious meat. I appreciate that the menu is updated frequently, making every experience a little different while still maintaining consistency with the food quality and service. I am so sad to hear about this place and its closing so my friends and I HAD to come by (both nonvegan) but they wanted to try it too. I literally am so impressed by the complexity of flavors and textures of every single dish we ordered. I was given a taste of everything on the table. I ordered the tofu nuggets and a Cesar salad and it was so satisfying. The blue cheese was perfectly creamy and rich and the gochujang sauce on the nuggets were amazing. The appetizer- crispy brussel sprouts was so delicious and had a balsamic vinegar flavor that was mixed with tahini to bring creaminess and balance out the sauce. The jackfruit crab cakes were very good as well, a very crispy and savory dish, not fishy at all. (I personally would have welcomed a bit more of a crab flavor) The kimchi fried rice is a HUGE portion, so be in the mood to eat a lot of rice for that, but it was also yummy. I like to cook a lot of kimchi fried rice at home, so this specific dish didn't really stand up to my own cooking, I like a lot more pepper-forward flavors and spice in mine. The burger was really good too, it had a lovely char on it, and it made it taste very authentic. My friend who ordered the burger liked it, but wasn't a huge fan of the coleslaw they put on the burger. The Caesar salad was technically a side, but it was huge to me, I really enjoyed it, especially because my plan of attack was to but the tofu nuggets on my salad. It was a menu hack my server tipped me off to do. Overall, I really would love to come back to try some more items because it's not an option for me anymore. We ordered the whipped ricotta & brussel sprouts for appetizers - I am not a huge fan of brussels and LOVED them... the tahini dressing or whatever was on it was perfect. Whipped ricotta was so good too with the crostinis! I got the skymelt which is a beyond smash burger with vegan provolone, kimchi mayo, caramelized onions on garlic sourdough. The bread was nostalgic, like a grilled cheese, and all the flavors worked great together. I really enjoyed the potato salad! So funky that it's purple but the flavors were amazing. I'm not vegan at all, but wow... Good Intentions was SO good. What I ordered didn't taste "vegan" in that way people worry about it was just straight up delicious. When we sat down, I was a little confused by the menu, I found myself in a vegan establishment and did not see a lot of options that interested me.! MDW, and daughter said "let's give it a try", and after my initial shock I agreed. MDW, and I ordered the Tarpon style greek salad, my daughter had the breakfast burrito, and the little one had the silver dollar pancakes. The waitress was very attentive while serving multiple tables, gave great recommendations on food & drink - the bolognese for me was fantastic and my date said her kimchi fried rice was great (she got the kimchi on the side). For a first date, the right amount of ambience, the right amount of dim lightning, candles on the table, minimalist decor and artwork with a great vibe. We went Thursday evening for dinner. We arrived closer to 8 pm. Seems like there was only one server and a bartender. The bartender was not busy and didn't help the server one bit and he was slammed. It took about 5-10 minutes before he could even come say hi. We decided to sit at the bar. We ordered some beer and the whipped ricotta which was delicious. The bartender was not great. Considering she was not that busy her service skills were lacking. We then ordered the Mediterranean Pearl couscous dish and the crab balls. Both dishes were delicious. Great food. Place is busy but our server kept up with us. I have dined in once and gotten to go the next time I was in town because I liked it so much. Here's what we ate: Big can nachos: 10/10 comes out in a huge can that the server lifts for a fun reveal. Huge portion. Great nachos. Whipped Ricotta: 7/10 this is a small portion and wasn't the flavor I expected but I did like it. It's very herbal/floral. Don't think I'd get it again given that it's $19 and not that much. Crab Fries: 9/10 these are amazing and I love them because they are similar to a dish I used to eat since before being vegan that I've yet to find something similar to. It was mostly all jackfruit and fries. Would give it 10/10 if it has some corn it to add some more texture/flavor. Crispy brussel sprouts: 8/10 a little greasy. A dipping aoli would be nice. Wedge salad: 7/10 a little pricey for a salad. It did have the seiten bacon crumbles and a little blue cheese which were good. Seasonal gnocchi: 10/10 please keep this on the menu year round. This was SO good. Definitely my favorite of everything we've had. Southern Sriracha crab cakes: 10/10 absolutely nailed it. Fantastic "crab cakes." The texture and flavors were amazing! Being plant based, I'd waited a long time to visit Good Intentions, and the wait was worth it! We arrived at lunch time on a Saturday on a warm day, and found no line, and no wait for a nice table in the coolness of the restaurant. It was super clean, smelled good, and nicely decorated. From the host to our server, staff made us feel welcome and answered any questions we had about the menu and how it all worked. We started with the vaunted Whipped Ricotta. It was tasty, not overly oily or salty, and the addition of the pistachio pesto added to the flavor profile. I confess, we could have used a couple more pieces of bread to eat it on, but we DID go pretty light when we first started. From there, since the menu we were given was a brunch menu, we went with splitting the Loco Moco. It was a smashed Beyond burger on a bed of crispy rice with sweet and sour mushrooms and Just Egg scraon top. Portion size was good, so it was enough for us both. I'm not a huge fan of Beyond meat (anymore - it was great when we were transitioning to PB) as it's too high in sodium and fat, and the smell is a decidedly unique one, so I felt that took away from the meal, but the overall tasted was good. It would be wonderful if they replaced the Beyond burger with their own creation. We were full by the time we finished, so didn't order more, but we will DEF be back with friends for dinner! Honestly my favorite restaurant in St. Petersburg. I'm obsessed and go here at least once a month. Of all the times I visit I am never disappointed. I tried something new this time around which was the Nashville hot tofu sandwich and it was everything you want in a spicy buffalo sandwich. The best part was the spicy sauce on the crispy tofu. It wasn't soggy and held its flavor and form the entire way through. We were blown away and surprised with the big can nachos which literally comes out stacked inside a huge can in which the waitress or waiter pull up and off so the nachos gently cascade across your plate leaving a mouthwatering experience filled with flavor and seitan for that steak like quality. The delicious bean sauce was a great accompaniment to the flavors as well adding a kick and boost in flavor. My partner got the kimchi fried rice which was delicious containing all types of add ins leaving a delicious crunch and some "crabmeat balls" that were like fritters on top to go with it. The seasoning was perfect and so was the portion and flavors. The welcoming and environment are always consistent with a smile and warm greeting. We were lucky enough to actually have our very first waitress from when we first visited, tend to us this time around however all of the waitstaff so far with each visit have been beyond kind and have provided excellent customer service. We came in for brunch. The restaurant is really nice and really big inside. There is also a small amount of parking beside the business in a joined lot, and there is free (limited) street parking. Unfortunately, for me our waitress was very forthcoming and told me not much on the menu was gluten-free and being that they used a lot of Vegan products that had gluten-free containing fillers it wasn't safe for me being a Celiac to eat anything that was cooked in their kitchen, including just "eggs". I was really appreciative of her honesty. My husband has no allergies, so he had the vegan burrito wirh "chorizo." and, it was huge. It was very filling and he liked it. He said it tasted really good also. Neither of us are Vegan, we were just looking to try a new place. I also ordered the Bloody Mary, but unfortunately, that also contained gluten (in the mix listed on the menu), so they made me a Tito's vodka with soda water instead. Overall, I really liked the restaurant, I really wish I could have tried anything, but I get it, especially when it comes to Vegan foods. I actually was recommended to come here by someone else when I told them I had Celiacs and couldn't eat gluten. A lot of times, people conflate the two, thinking it means Vegan, unfortunately. Confession: I'm allergic to soy but this menu looked so good and I had been hearing such good things that I knew I needed to try this place just once. And it's like only a mild allergy so it wasn't a huge deal. Went with a friend and split the brussel sprouts and crab fries appetizers and they were sooooo good. Wish I could've tried more because the menu is so impressive. Actually took the fries to go and they were pretty good in the air fryer, and so worth having to take Benadryl when I got home. AND THEY WERE PLAYING THE LAURA PALMER THEME FROM TWIN PEAKS IN THE BATHROOM THE DAY AFTER DAVID LYNCH DIED so for that alone they have my eternal respect. Came here for brunch on a rainy day and they were fairly slow. The interior is dimly lit with bulb string lights and green leafy plants. was flying solo and sat at the bar. From start to finish, service was excellent. I started off with a hot mocha latte with oat milk, which was excellent. For my entree, I did the breakfast sammy with a side of breakfast potatoes. I absolutely loved the homemade foccacia and vegan bacon with the egg, pesto sauce, and and cheese together. The breakfast potatoes were cooked perfectly and included a side of ketchup. The cocktails other people were ordering looked so good that I finished the meal with the Frankie Goes to Dollywood cocktail. It had a kick to it and was so smooth. Definitely something I would order again. The tofu fish all sticks was good but could be more crispy. The brussel sprouts were on the burnt side. It was well charred. By then, we were pretty full.
