Had to have my car towed due to my car key not able to start the car; wouldn't even turn, and seemed quite "sticky" as pulling key out of ignition was an issue as well, causing key case to break apart. Note to self: when replacing a car key case, be certain the quality is solid, otherwise in situations like this the key will fall apart. Checked on Yelp to look for locksmiths in the area that work on cars. Good Lock & Key replied with not only a good deal, but also with a lot of solid reviews. Mike came by to look at my vehicle's ignition key. After moments trying to make it work out, he informs that he would need to bring ignition and key back to the shop, to not only repair the ignition but change out the case for the key. Mike returned, with everything ready to go, but informed that he did not see a chip in the key, which is required for high security keys issued by Honda. I mentioned to him I know about the chip, as this key case is an aftermarket. After a little back and forth, he said he has another key with a chip that he can have work for the car, I said let's go for it. 5 minutes later, I have not only repaired ignition, but also a whole new key that replaced my old one (do have to note that not only was key case in pieces, but the teeth on the key were really worn down, perhaps contributing to the ignition needing repair.) All said and done, everything done by Mike of Good Lock & Key was satisfactory, professionally handled, and efficient. The issue I have is that my car key has worn out after 10 years and it slides out of the ignition even when my car engine is running. One time it slid out while I was driving. Quite scary! Good Lock and Key was one of the additional vendors Yelp sent for quotes on my behalf. The owner, Milad, responded very quickly providing information on what he can do and how much it costs. I had received a total of 4 quotes plus one said he needed to come onsite for an estimate. To that, I said no thanks. The last one responded actually had the lowest quote of "fixing" my key. She educated me more on what could be done to solve my problem. From the information she provided, I did some reaearch online and understood the options available to address the key sliding out of ignition issue. Then I went back to the other vendors including Good Lock and Key and presented the option I wanted - cut a new key to code and put the brains of my current remote into the new key. Good Lock and Key's new price was lower than the other 2 but not lower than the lady who educated me. I replied to Good Lock and Key if he would match the quote and he did. So I drove to the shop in Pasadena. Milad just left the shop and he came back right away when his guy called him. He cut me a new key to code and put the brains of my current remote into the new key. Exactly what I needed. I tested everything. New key does not slide out of ignition. YES! SAFETY first.. It opens the driver side door. It opens the trunk. And the remote works. Mission accomplished at the lowest price I got, done correctly right away and the shop is pretty close to me. So I am happy and satisfied. Definitely recommend.
