DESPERATE, SCANDALOUS, and SHADY business. I recently changed the ignition to my 2000 Avalon and threw away my original keys thus my door locks and ignition keys did not match. The only way I can access my car is through my alarm remote. If the battery dies then I'm screwed because the alarm will be disabled and I won't be able to unlock my doors. I Called this business to see if I can match the new ignition keys to the lock on the driver side. I was quoted over the phone that it was $85 dollars. Upon arrival I go through the back of the store and smell cigarette stench immediately to encounter the owner smoking cigarettes inside his business. He sees me and puts his cigarette out in his ashtray filled with other cigarette butts. He tells me to wait a minute while he helps a customer from the front of the store. I wait patiently for 15 minutes and peek out to the front of the business to see how many more customers he's helping out with. When I peek out to the front of the shop the owner is no where to be seen! I call the business number and someone picks up their cell phone and tells me that someone will be there to help me. I wait an additional 10 minutes. The story gets better. We finally meet in the back to look at my car. The owner tells me that he will change all the doors locks in my car for $85 dollars but it won't be compatible with the ignition and for $50 dollars extra he will match my door lock keys with my ignition switch. He said it is very labor intensive because the dash needs to be removed in order for him to retrofit the new door keys to the ignition etc. I tell him that I don't need new locks and I only want to match my current ignition key to my driver side door which means only the driver door needs to be adjusted . In my opinion that would be easier. Keep in mind, this is a 17 year old car and spending so much on this does not make much sense. The owner insists I change all door locks and he will match the new door locks to the ignition for $135. I tell him no and I only came to match the driver side door to the ignition key that I already have. He tells me he can't do it which I don't understand why he can't. He explains to me that if I don't change all locks that there might be an incident where I'm stuck because a car has parked so close to the driver side and that I'll be unable to get inside my car. I told him I always have the alarm as a backup to enter through the passenger side. He tells me of another unlikely scenario which was " what if someone was parked too close to the driver side door and your car battery died?" Already frustrated, I tell him I'll take my business elsewhere. He tried to persuade me to stay but I denied his services a second time. While I'm about to leave he chases me down and tells me he will do it. I was already really mad but accepted his services because my wife and newborn child came to pick me up and was patiently waiting. I left the keys with the owner and was told to come back in 1 hour. Went to the grocery store and came back in 30 minutes and the car was ready. Paid $85 dollars for most likely a 20 minute job and he tried to con me into spending an extra $50 dollars when I clearly said I didn't need it. To make matters worse, he kept insisting that I make an extra spare key for $5 dollars even though I clearly said I already have one at home. I'm really bothered by this situation. The owner really needs to listen to his customer and what makes ultimate sense. He needs to stop being money hungry and to stop portraying himself as a con artist. I will never ever come back and I DO NOT recommend this lock smith. read more

The owner is very impatient, and rude. He overcharged me for duplicating my car keys. I know that he overcharged me because I have visited this store on two occasions. The first time I went, his son Milad charged me 2 dollars less/ (per key) than what I had to pay for the second time I visited this store. I locked myself out of my apartment. Kourosh got here in under 10 minutes (I live pretty close tho). He unlocked my door in about 15 minutes. So service wise I would say it was great. Now let's talk about the price. Only one lock was locked and he was there for a good 15 minutes at best and that was going to cost me $75. My jaw literally hit the floor. Who knew the locksmith job was so lucrative. I feel like I got price gouged. The only thing he could offer me was $10 off if I put a review here. I called them to re-key some locks on my new house. The locksmith pointed out some issues and suggested a better lock layout to make the house more secure. Did not push the issue but explained the reasons. He put in the new locks, rekey-ed some existing locks and triple checked to make sure all the locks worked 100%. Not only that but he gave me an extra set no charge and said if I have any issues with the locks to call him and he will come out and fix them no charge as well read more

Incidentally, my location shows Louisville, KY but I live in Glendale, CA. Today I did two major blunders by locking my cell phone in my car and locking my apartment keys on the table inside. Luckily, my neighbor, Paul, answered his door and was extremely nice to call locksmiths on Yelp.com. I live in Glendale and he called 24 hour service locksmiths who didn't answer. He tried Burbank with the same result. Andy answered and sent a gentleman from Pasadena and he was there within 30 minutes. The gentleman went right to work and had my door open in just few minutes. He made sure I could lock and unlock my door. He was very professional, friendly and I was so happy and thankful he could come out around 7:30pm on a Wednesday night to help a lady get back into her apartment after dark.
