Love this place. Have been several times and have never been disappointed. Like places like this where I can just walk up and order. I've had numerous items on the menu including the steak fingers, catfish and burgers. It's all terrific. The people that work there are fun and have great personality. We stopped here with two 2 year old's this past Saturday after a trip to Crowe's Nest Farm. The food was excellent! We got the fried catfish with coleslaw, fried assorted veggies, kids chicken tenders and french fries, and the chicken cordon bleu sandwich. Some friends came down one weekend and wanted me to take them to a new place to eat and we went to good luck grill just down the road. We were all amazed at the variety in their menu and none of us were disappointed. Husband ordered the chicken fried steak and he said it was amazing and he is hard to please. This was my first time eating here, I ordered the oyster po boy and fries. First, if you're ordering during lunch time, you might want to call in your order then go pick it up, this place was packed! The French fries are battered and crispy but light. Super yummy. And the po boy had just the right amount of tarter sauce, lettuce and tomato. I really enjoyed it. This is a great spot to drop in for any meal. Love this place, even for take out. My family and I have not yet had any issues here and he staff are always super friendly. My first time dining here and it won't be my last! From the beginning we were greeted with a few friendly smiles, great customer service and a clean and inviting restaurant. The food was ready pretty quick and I was surprised to see many other people dining for a late 2pm lunch. My oysters weren't 5 star worthy, but I guess that's to be expected this far away from the sea and the dipping sauce that came with them was...odd. I set the tart mustard like sauce aside and stuck to ketchup instead. My boyfriend's catfish was to die for and I love the breading that it was dipped in. Based on the positive reviews I decided to try this place.....The chicken fried steak was more batter than steak...the Texas toast was soggy and cold...and the fried mushrooms were beyond greasy.....Along with that, based on the prices they charge, I would prefer not to have to eat my food off paper plates using plastic utensils...Won't be going back.... read more

The worst thing about good luck grill is the size of location and the counter top ordering system. It feels crowded chaotic and rushed from the moment you step in the door. You have no time or space to review the menu!! The seating is minimal and there is more room outdoors but the tables only seat 4 each surrounded by trash and flies. The food is decent which is the only reason why people endure the garbage setup. I have seriously been angered with how busy and crazy this place is at lunchtime enough to stop going. read more

Yuck! There was nothing but Bad Luck for my husband and I tonight. First off, when you walk in there's no place to really look at the menu so, in our case, we took it and went and sat at a table. The only interaction you have with the staff is when you place your order. Ironically, it didn't matter because they basically ignored you or acted like your questions were a bother. We ended up having to move from a table to a booth because the tables in the back have a clear view of the bathrooms and some blocked off area and the kitchen. Here's where the yuck part comes in. First off, there were so many flies inside I could not concentrate on my meal because I was constantly having to wave them away from the table. Second, I ordered the most disgusting deep fried pork shanks ever! Gross, chewy fat in a salty batter. The worst was the young lady behind the counter (NOT WEARING GLOVES) filling the little sauce containers. As she filled, she kept sneezing into her shirt then wiping her face with her hands. We had ordered an appetizer, which should come before the food, but it was served with our dinners. It was the fried veggie plate. My husband and I had to keep breaking open the pieces to see what they were. The only thing we recognized were the onion rings. I'm still trying to figure out why previous reviews raved about the French fries. Huh? They were just fries! Unfriendly staff, plastic and styrofoam plates make this a no repeat visit for us. There was a young lady behind the counter who mentioned she was in training. She was the only personable one in the place, I wanted to go up to her afterwords and tell her she could do so much better somewhere else. Came in and had the catfish poboy. It was delicious and the fish was not greasy. I had a catfish meal earlier in the week at cafe 290 and this place had a MUCH better catfish. Good seafood in central Texas is not easy to find. Good Luck Grill has good fried catfish, oysters, and onion rings. The lite seasoning of pepper gave it all more flavor. Casual setting and courteous staff. As a groupon vendor, their bargain was a good value. (The vendor even honored the deal for a week past expiration.) We've been to Good Luck Grill so many times that I have the number on my speed-dial and I know exactly how long it takes to get there, so I can call in my order and have it fresh off the grill when I get there. The best burgers in the area! Excellent quality right down to the tomatoes. Love the peppery catfish. Many other things to choose from, but the burgers and catfish keep calling us back. Seriously such good food! This is where you go to get some serious home cooking. Be warned almost everything is fried but even the grilled chicken there is amazing. Try the fried vegetables! Don't be discouraged when you drive up - the restaurant is a trailer of some sort. If you have a stroller, it is a little inconvenient that the ramp is located on the side where they hang the terrible smelling mops. However, they probably have the best catfish ever - it's white, fluffy and fresh. A few other suggestions are the fried okra (limited time) the grilled chicken salad, and grilled vegetables. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. Outside, they have an area for kids to run around and play which is really nice. The porch on the back does not have a ramp so again - if you're rockin a stroller, you will be carrying it down the stairs. Overall, great good and service. We always enjoy dining here. read more

This place is known for good southern fare, but my favorite is actually the Lucky Leaf Salad! The chicken is freshly prepared (vs the usual cold and bland leftover chicken from last night used at way too many places) and chopped. Great low carb choices on the menu, too. This place is well worth the short drive on the back roads. Always clean, food is prepared fresh, friendly staff, nice decor, our daughter loves to run and play outside when we go to listen to the live music, and very reasonable prices on food and beer. There are washer tournaments and car shows periodically. I always get the shrimp and fish plate while my husband always has the chicken fried steak. YUMMY!!! Large portions of fish (when you get the 8 piece dinner). A terrific peppery texture to the catfish filets they bring you. Very moist inside with a somewhat firm crust that is the perfect marriage together. The hush puppies are and have always been a bit on the hard side, and not as soft or moist internally like I prefer mine to be. The cole slaw could have a bit more flavor and perhaps be the creamy, and not vinegar version they serve.
