Food is hot garnished nicely. Crispy fish, real chicken ,chicken tenders. Staff is always friendly and accommodating. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Small comfy dining area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Catfish a bit salty today but still good. That's my personal tongue. My husband was pleasantly surprised by the tenders. Love love the sweet potatoe fries.

Service was good. Food was cooked to order and delicious! I'll definitely be back to try the other menu items.

Small But Mighty in Taste! We found this hidden gem after the Pfluger annual Christmas parade. We stopped by anticipating some tasty hushpuppies, but boy did we get waaay more! Now the Mac & Cheese Hushpuppies are delicious don't get me wrong, but That Catfish & Shrimp is what the young folk call Bussin! So flaky, fresh, light and seasoned to perfection!! I'm just sad it took me so long find this spot. They are surrounded by great local businesses and parking is available for all. Great food, Great Service, All around great people. To top it off, my review is not a happenstance review. I only review local spots after experiencing them more than once. They are consistent in their quality and service. If your looking for some fresh and delicious food in Pflugerville look no forward! They got you covered! Definitely my new local go to spot! Can't wait to go back! Happy Eating

This is my 3rd time patronizing this establishment. Each time, the food is fresh, hot, and flavorful! I'm not even a fan of catfish, but I tried this place on a whim and have yet to be disappointed. Robs Seafood Platter gives you a good sample of the fish and shrimp while the Shrimp, Jalapeño & Bacon hush puppies are a one of a kind flavor. Some seafood places have dry flavorless hush puppies but not this place... they're delicious! All of the food comes out piping hot and full of flavor. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The establishment is A1, it was clean with an ample seating area and a television if you decide to dine in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They were also very welcoming and friendly. Did I mention the food was delicious. Edit: I tried the brisket Hushpuppies *only available on Wednesdays* and mmm mmm mmm... the brisket was moist, flavorful and delicious! It had a sight tangy, sweetness to it... DELICIOUS. End Edit You can't go wrong. TRUST ME!

You have to know when you come in that this is not a health food store. Strictly DELICIOUS COMFORT FOOD! With that in mind, this Southern Girl has been looking for decent hushpuppies... last I had outside the South was WAY BACK when Red Lobster still made them. (I stopped going when they got the cheese biscuits!) I had shrimp, jalapeño, bacon STUFFED hushpuppies, corn dog AND onion rings (wanted to sample more but that was too much already.... will have to come back!) Everything tastes good... but not as crispy as I'd like. Next time, I'll ask for EXTRA CRISPY. ;) BIG CON...STYROFOAM on every order i saw (even for eat-in)... I'll all next time if there's a way to avoid that. Their paper inserts stop the grease, so make Styrofoam is not necessary.

I love these hushpuppies! I don't know what they make their breading with, but it's good. They are always nice and food is always hot and fresh, with decent prices.

Looking for something new and interesting to try? This is your place. It's southern goodness you can eat with your bare (hopefully clean) hands. We have been wanting to try this place for a while and stopped by on a late Saturday afternoon. They were already sold out of the shrimp and bacon hush puppies, which are apparently the #1 seller. Never fear, we tried the next popular ones (Mac and cheese and spicy sausage) and they were so tasty. The hush puppy breading is so good. It really makes the filling pop with flavor. We also got a corn dog because who doesn't love a good corn dog. Again, this breading is divine. So pop on by when you can and support this local business. If southern flavors and hush puppy breading is your thing, then you will love this place. We also grabbed a few drinks at the wine bar (3 legged goat) in the same shopping center, and they brought our order there once it was done!

They were perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of vinegar and cooked to that ideal tender texture without being mushy. The fried chicken and catfish were outstanding. Both were well seasoned, incredibly crispy, and tasted like they were fried in fresh grease. Every bite was hot, fresh, and full of flavor. The baked macaroni and cheese was good, but it leaned a little more toward a Velveeta-style cheese sauce than my personal preference. Still a solid 9/10. I also ordered the Peach Passion Fruit Hennessy margarita, and it was superb. Smooth, flavorful, and easily one of the highlights of the meal. The staff was friendly and welcoming, the prices were very reasonable, and the portions were generous. If you're looking for authentic soul food in Austin, The Rolling Rooster is absolutely worth the stop. I'll definitely be back.

I don't eat a lot of fried food, but sometimes you just go with the flow. Every year, we go through the same routine. Two weeks out: "Have you picked a restaurant yet?" Not yet. One week out: "Any ideas?" Still no. Then, three days before Father's Day...bam...the decision is made! Luckily, this last-minute pick didn't require reservations. This year's winner? Drum roll...The Rolling Rooster. Honestly, you've got to love the name. The Rolling Rooster is located in a strip center at the corner of Mopac and Wells Branch Parkway. It looks small from the outside, but once you step in, it opens up into a surprisingly spacious dining area. It's not fancy, but it has a warm, homey feel. We were greeted right away by Edna, who handled both hosting and serving. She was friendly and welcoming, embodying that classic Texas Southern hospitality. The atmosphere was cozy, with a smooth R&B playlist spinning in the background. As you'd expect, the restaurant focuses on Southern comfort food...think fried chicken, wings, and waffles. The standout for me was the catfish: crispy, flavorful, and coated with a slightly heavier cornmeal crust than usual, which added a nice texture. We both went with the 2 | 2 combo...two meats and two sides...choosing fried chicken wings and catfish. For sides, we had yams, fries, Mac n cheese and my favorite...grits. The food tasted like something straight out of a family kitchen...comforting, hearty, and satisfying. Portions were generous and reasonably priced, so much so that we didn't have room for dessert on the spot. We did, however, grab some banana pudding to go and I'm glad we did. It was absolutely delicious and the perfect sweet ending to the meal. The hubby and I got to enjoy some quality time while he enjoyed one of his favorite meals...a win-win! Happy Father's Day!

Chicken quesadilla was great. Seasoned waffle fries with gringo dip was also very good. Not so good: Management. I ordered a double Jack and Coke in a short glass. I deliberately mentioned the short glass to the waitress, in spite of the fact that a typical double whiskey and Coke drink comes in a short glass. Unfortunately she didn't catch the ask for short glass (she said she'd never had someone yet ask for that order, but I think she meant at this restaurant). Someone delivered a tall glass instead. I asked our waitress to give me a short glass and she tried to do so. When she came back she said the manager wouldn't let her, which was weird, so I asked to see the manager. Josh. Josh did not handle the interaction well in my opinion. In his opinion it was the same alcohol in a short or tall, so he thought I should just drink the tall. That's obviously not a great experience. Ultimately after a (too) long discussion he didn't charge for the drink. But the experience was ruined for us and since this was our first visit to this location it was simply a bummer and we likely won't be back.

He drank it anyway, but ordered something different for the second beer, which was much better. We decided to share the fried green tomatoes appetizer, a cheeseburger, and, for the first time ever, the famous whiskey cake. Usually we're too full to try dessert. Unfortunately, our fried green tomatoes came out at the same time as our cheeseburger, and two of the tomatoes were actually yellow, which gave them an off flavor compared to previous visits. The cheeseburger, however, was juicy and delicious. The whiskey cake was served warm with whipped cream. It was a little denser than I expected, but still enjoyable. The catfish and fried items weren't greasy, rancid, or carrying that old-oil taste that ruins a meal. For a place centered around fried food, that's important. The salad bar was sparse with limited choices, and nearly everything being served on Styrofoam makes the entire place feel cheap and dated. Service was adequate but nothing memorable. Nobody was rude, but there wasn't much attention to detail or hospitality either. What really stood out was the condition of the facility. The restroom looked neglected, and the sink was partially detached from the wall. When customers see maintenance issues that obvious, it raises questions about the overall upkeep of the restaurant. I don't expect fine dining from a catfish buffet, but I do expect decent food, a clean facility, and some pride in presentation.
