In order to move forward I had to pay a deposit to fulfill my 2k payment. I was told my insurance was reviewed and that was the balance I owed. Not thinking anything of it, I proceeded with moving forward. It wasn't until the end of the year when I found out my insurance was never reviewed, and a claim was never filed. I paid out of pocket. After finding this out, I worked with my insurance company who was able to make them file a claim and reimbursement me the full 2k that was owed. They also charge for yearly follow-up appointments, rather than charging your insurance. I do not recommend this clinic based on the their unethical practices.

The dentist (Bieneman) seems competent, but even at the time my impression was that he and his staff prioritize financial considerations over helping patients. The clinic assured me that they had verified my insurance (Anthem) before my appointment, but they didn't mention that they hadn't fully confirmed my benefits under Anthem HMO. When I checked out, they presented me with a $867.96 bill, with a demand for partial payment that day. When I contacted Anthem, the representative verified that my entire visit and appliance should have been $40 under my HMO/PPO plan. The Anthem rep called Apnea & Breathing Clinic several times, but they kept putting her off saying the person who handles billing was out with no assurance of when she would return. It's now May 23rd: Anthem sent Apnea & Breathing Clinic a check to cover the visit over a month ago. I contacted the clinic and they acknowledged payment from Anthem, but they are refusing to send me a refund. In other words, they were paid twice and they are keeping both payments. I recently had an appointment with a different office and had a much better experience.

The device was lent out to me from a courteous, professional and timely staff member who helped explain to me how to work the device. I got to try the test for two nights, which provided plenty of data. The device can be a bit cumbersome while sleeping. I woke a few times to make sure everything was working properly. Not sure if it affected my data? I dropped off to a courteous staff member Monday morning. No lines and no waiting. I am eager to rule out sleep apnea.

This place is an absolute disgrace to the medical profession…read more The incompetence, arrogance, and outright unethical behavior from the front desk and billing department at Critical Care, Pulmonary, and Sleep Associates is beyond belief. First, good luck even getting an appointment. No one answers the phones. Ever. I literally had to drive to the office to schedule one in person--only to find the office quiet, phones silent, and staff doing absolutely nothing. When I explained how many times I had tried to call, the woman at the desk was rude, dismissive, and acted as though I was the problem. That should have been my red flag to turn around and never look back. But it gets worse. When I picked up the sleep study equipment--a five-minute handoff in the lobby--I was slapped with a $48 copay for a so-called "appointment." No one disclosed this at the time, and nearly TWO YEARS later, I get a "final notice" bill for $70.34 threatening to send me to collections. No prior mail, no email, no phone calls. Nothing. Just a demand out of nowhere. To make matters worse, their billing "representative" Greg, was hostile, evasive, and downright shady. He refused to give me the address of the business or even confirm where he was calling from, yet demanded my date of birth and payment. If that doesn't scream scam, I don't know what does. Only after I checked with my insurance did I find out they can technically get away with billing this garbage--but that doesn't make it ethical. It makes it predatory. This is not just poor customer service--it borders on fraudulent billing. Imagine patients who are elderly, sick, or vulnerable being subjected to these tactics. It's cruel, unethical, and shows this practice has zero regard for patient well-being. And let's not forget the actual sleep study. The equipment they gave me was beat-up, poorly fitting, and looked like it had been passed around for years. My results were probably worthless. A complete waste of time and money. Bottom line: this "practice" is nothing more than a billing machine preying on patients while providing substandard care. If you value your health, your money, and your sanity, RUN in the opposite direction. Go to National Jewish Hospital, where you'll find real medical professionals--not scammers in lab coats.

No returned phone calls. Why? I feel bad for those in ICU.
