I experienced a bizarre incident of near stalking and bullying by the manager of Good Nature Market on Broadway at approximately 2:30am on Thursday April 9 2026. They failed to accurately present the price of an item, I pointed this out at the counter to the entirely polite cashier. The cashier told me that an item (package of single serve Oatly packages marked to be sold together with a single expiration date on the package) was meant to be sold individually not as a package as it was marked, and he wasn't sure how much it was. He called the manager over. I point out that the highest priced Oatly was a little under $6 where they had packaged it and that their sign by the cashier clearly states that if an item rings up for a higher amount they will give the item for free up to $20. I was happy to pay the amount it was marked for or the amount of the highest listed Oatly. The manager, who is rarely in the store, told the cashier it was twice as much. I calmly told the cashier that I had been coming here for a decade (he knows me) and if this is the way he is going to do business I will not shop here for at least 3 months. Once I said I was discontinuing the business transaction, while the cashier remained a calm, normal human being, the manager began yelling, shoving his finger towards my chest, waiving his hands like a maniac, bitterly yelling at me for deciding not to shop there anymore. I respectfully told him, sir, please calm down, you made a business decision and I am also making a business decision not to shop here for at least three months given the false advertisement. The manager spiraled into a threatening tantrum and followed me out the store into the street. I would like the store owner's contact so I can report the incident. I do not tolerate threatening bullies when I trying to shop, especially at night. read more

Look, I am giving this spot 2 stars simply because of the cleanliness of the establishment and the customer service but far as the pastrami????? It was ONCE a proud symbol of savory delight and now it lies limp and lifeless, as if it had given up on life halfway through the curing process. Its flavor? It is like they harvested it from the depths of Chernobyl and forgot to rinse off the radioactive waste. Sour doesn't even begin to describe it. Nothing more than a slap in the face from a pickled cabbage. Let's not forget their version of rye bread. Just another sad excuse for a loaf that crumbled under the weight of its own inadequacy. Dryer than the Sahara and about as flavorful as cardboard. It serves only to remind you of the cruel joke that is this sandwich. If you enjoy disappointment served between two slices of despair, then by all means, order the Pastrami Reuben. With its dark paneling, deli counter, salad bar, and stocked-high shelves, I felt inmediately transported. They are also a little stealthy with the price tags, but if you're looking for something in a jiffy, this is a good option. The location is great, they are open 24 hours and they have a whole upstairs section for students to do work. Free WiFi and you can sit there on your laptop for as long as you want. It's a great environment to be productive, and it's centralized right next to Yale. That being said, the prices are ridiculous in there. Their sandwiches are good and the hot food bar seems to be kept relatively fresh. But if you want snacks get ready to pay an arm and a leg. $6 for a box of pop tarts. $4 chocolate bars, $4 bottles of water. I had a great lunch at Good Nature Market while on a break from a matter at the federal courthouse a few blocks away. It was pretty hoppin' during lunch hour but the sandwich line moved fast. For those unable to wait, there's also a hot food display with all kinds of things (I noticed pasta salad, sweet potato noodles, Mac n cheese, fried chicken, etc) that is charged by weight. I went with the chicken salad BLT. The hoagie roll it was served on was soft and fresh and HUGE - I took the other half home. The chicken salad was good, although there was a little too much celery for me. The bacon was nice and crispy. The sandwich and a Coke ran me less than $10. They have tables inside and outside to eat your sandwiches, although the tables were really tiny for our group of 4. Overall, a great stop for a quick and fresh lunch! read more

This is place is a life saver all seasons around. I love all 24/7 convenience stores and I am so grateful for the service they offer! It is so nice to have a store like this just close to the library. It is my second-frequently-visited lunch place, the first would be food carts and the third would be Yale commons. The deli counter is large and have hot and cold sandwiches and salads. The prices are OK for Yalies but a little on the high side for us working class folk. At 4am you take what you can get. The 25' long double sided buffet line is good, especially when it is fresh. Some stuff will sit all day and you can tell if it has been there for a while. It is all sold bu the pound, its a little expensive. They have many food items that are imported and sometimes hard to find. They have a huge selection of chips, cookies, crackers and other snacks. Some fresh fruit and veg, desserts, candy, fresh flowers, and a huge drink selection You can stop in anytime day or night a get a decent sandwich or snack. This place is good for a quick, late-night eat... like a bagel BEC with avocado (also good in the morning!) -- however this is probably the only well-priced item on the menu. It's proximity to the Yale Campus and its reliance on the lazy natures of college students allows them to REALLY overcharge on their items. Wow one of the worst sandwiches I have ever had. Take a look at the "buffalo chicken sandwich ". Watched him microwave the chicken breast, tough as nails, mozzarella cheese not blue cheese and to top it off the guy who made it touched a dirty rag while he was making the sandwich. Really great business with two locations in the The Shops at Yale, and on Whitney Ave. I have only been to the location at The Shops at Yale, which is open 24 hours, so it is very convenient to grab a sandwich or snack after a late night of studying or hanging out with friends downtown. I really love coming to Good Nature market on late weeknights to do homework because it's 24 Hours, but also has huge tables upstairs for me to not feel cramped at a small coffee shop table. One thing, I do find very irritating is there merchandise is never priced on the shelves. So by the time I get to the register with a water and bag of chips, I end up playing a guessing game and paying around $7-8 because I wasn't sure how much it would be priced at because of the non existent price labels. read more

3.5 stars. The new and improved Gourmet Heaven (in the same exact location as before). There's actually a ton of late night options in this convenience store now, including a ramen/bibimbap station. Still as pricey before and still mostly has the same inventory. Still a major campus staple, especially during late nights. From toothpaste to sandwiches to cough drops to trays of prepared food to now random Asian late night offerings, this place is there for you. Once I got the soup for myself when i was with two of my friends, but my friends had most of mine after they "tried" it and fell in love with it. There are a multitude of options here, from sandwiches to noodles to buffet bar. Tried the Hungry Man which was good, but not great. The cheese steak was also good, but too heavy to enjoy after like 1 bite. The first time I got food at the buffet there were only like 2 options even though it was like 10pm. I usually go to good nature almost every day, however today I had a bad experience and I was a bit surprised. I ordered a grilled chicken avocado wrap and asked the price of it and the Asian man behind the counter was I guess annoyed with my question. He responded, I ordered and then he made me my wrap with old chicken meat that tasted like it had been sitting there all day. I usually enjoy the food here for its freshness but this time I felt played. I ate the wrap anyway because I hadn't eaten all day and paid almost damn near $10 for it so I expected for my chicken to at the least be freshly grilled. I went in here last night to grab a few things on my way back from a social event. I ordered a chipotle chicken sandwich (not much to ask, right?) and paid at the register. I sat down to eat it and bit into something that had the consistency of rubber. If this were once real chicken meat, it was either left out all day to whither behind a heat lamp or microwaved until it changed into something completely different. "Okay," I thought, "maybe I'll just politely ask for something else." So I go up to (what I thought was) the nice tall Korean gentleman with round glasses behind the counter, thanked him, and mentioned that this just wasn't something I could eat. He immediately turned hostile, erupting into a fury that made me almost regret speaking to him. "How could you say this?! We sell boxes of this same chicken every day! How do you think we'd make any money if this were inedible?! What do you want me to do?" He then proceeded to ask me if he could make me anything else the same price or cheaper, attempting to strong-arm me into getting the sandwich with the much cheaper cold cut chicken. I would've gone to the grocery store if I wanted that, but nothing was open at the time. We finally agreed on something that was cheaper and deemed "appropriate" by him (a mediocre bacon, egg, and cheese), while I suggested he try the other half of my chicken sandwich that I didn't eat. The entire course of him making my new sandwich, he stubbornly chewed the "chicken" with a grimace on his face, one that I will remember every time I pass this establishment to get food somewhere else. read more
