SuperSandwich New Haven had been a work-in-progress for a while so I was excited when it finally opened last week! The inside of the restaurant is clean, airy, and bright with multiple long tables that are great for large groups. The employees are polite and helpful. The menu has many vegetarian options as well as hot vs cold sandwiches. I ordered the eggplant mozzarella in the "skinny" size which was about $10. It was huge!!! The fillings were stacked up high. Even though it was delicious (fluffy bread, flavorful eggplant and pesto), I could only finish half and saved the rest for another meal. There were a few minor issues (to be expected with a newly opened restaurant) - I tried to order on Snackpass but my order was canceled by the app. I ended up ordering in person with no issues, and I'm sure these kinks will get ironed out with time. I'll definitely be back for their quick, convenient and delicious sandwiches but will probably order over the phone or in person for now. read more

I was craving a turkey sandwich and Yelp led me here. It was awesome and very reasonably priced. They welcome substitutions and making your sandwich to your liking so I don't even remember what I got but I know it was my own turkey-based concoction and the cashier did not mind at all. If you go here, it's for the chicken cutlet sandwiches IMO. There are other options but I think the cutlet is their go to. They only serve on ciabatta bread. It's not my favorite kind of bread but the ciabatta they use is better than others. We happened to walk by on their first night open, and the owner, Steve, greeted us outside. He was really nice. We weren't hungry but he offered us a free sandwich since we live close by so that we could try it. We could not turn that down. It was delicious all the way through. We have been back a few times since. I would give their cutlet sandwich a solid 7.9 out of 10. They have a TON of options including a lot of vegan choices, so be prepared before you go to know what you want. I will recommend that they add traditional condiments like mustard though. read more

Went to Supersandwich for lunch this weekend. Overall, it was a bit of an underwhelming experience. The restaurant is nice and clean and there are no complaints there or with the service. We took in the huge menu board and decided on what we were going to eat. I got the sweet & sour chicken and my fiancee got the egg salad. I was really excited for a chicken cutlet sandwich! When the food came out a couple minutes after ordering it though, I was honestly let-down. I had thought the chicken cutlets were going to be cooked to order. In hindsight, maybe that was an unfair expectation but it was listed under hot sandwiches. The chicken in my sandwich was clearer just lukewarm reheated chicken. It tasted like it was pulled out of a refrigerator, put in a microwave for 20 seconds and then served. Now listen, if this place wasn't marketed as being famous for their chicken cutlets, I'd cut them some slack. But when you hang your hat on a speciality and that speciality doesn't live up, that kills it for me. The bread was decent and the toppings on the sandwich were good. My fiancee had some issues with the construction of her sandwich. The cheese wasn't melted on hers and there were brown spots on the avocado she asked for. It also was a cubed chicken sandwich, which just doesn't work great for sandwich structural integrity with the cibatta bread they serve it all. The combo just makes for a sandwich that fell apart in a few bites. Which, maybe is user error, but the chicken was also under-seasoned. I grew up in an Italian household where chicken cutlets and chicken cutlet sandwiches were a staple growing up. My standards are pretty high as a result. The result is nice, service was good, menu was extensive. You may have a better experience than me, but I personally don't feel compelled for a second visit. Edit: The owner of Supersandwich reached out to me to address the concerns I mentioned in this review. He wants me to give them another chance. I had to order delivery because I was at the stats wrestling tournament. It was the biggest pain in the asss. So they do not deliver on Saturday. Uber eats it is. After having to call the restaurant twice. Regarding the order, we're having contact Uber. It was just way too much like an hour just to order. The sandwich I got was an eggplant Parm. It arrives on like ciabatta bread, which was not what I was expecting. I have this idea in my head of what an eggplant sandwich is supposed to be in ciabatta bread is not a part of what that thought is. I suspect it's not that way for anyone. Let me start by saying the food is great, fresh, tastes great. The only inssue i have is the delivery. out of the last 5 times I have ordered (this last time is now the end of my ordering from them) they have only once been here by the time requested (but they forgot to call and left it with security). Each time but that one time, they have been 15-30 minutes late. I've given them from 45 minutes to a full hour for the delivery. If you cant deliver in that time frame, I am not giving you my money any longer, I'll order from someplace else and get it on time read more
