Our son is graduating from Good Shepherd this year with just shy of a 4.0. He's attended since 1st grade. He will continue in life with the great ethics this school's staff and community have instilled in him: kindness, leadership, service toward others, and academic discipline. I can't say enough about how happy he has been, growing up with the Good Shepherd kids as his teammates and confidants over the years. Academically, he's ready for anything. Socially, he's genuinely kind and thoughtful. These relationships will be forever - and I wouldn't want anyone in our corner as we raise a young man besides Good Shepherd. read more

Do your research, this is a very small school with very small class. I used to think this was a positive thing until we went to this school (maybe in some cases this is a good thing, not at Good Shepherd). My child was bullied, his teacher was extremely disrespectful to me. I do not recommend this school. read more

Our child has completed his first year of school at GSBH, and we could not be more pleased with his progress. He loves to learn and is excited to go to school every day. GSBH is very bright, clean and welcoming, with walls covered in fun art projects and pictures of happy students. The teachers are very creative and effective educators and the staff is friendly and helpful. GSBH offers Pre-K and TK in addition to K-8th grade. All of the classes are very small, fostering a lot of one-on-one attention and a very close bond among the classmates. In the afternoons, the school offers optional music lessons, extracurricular sports and a fun after school program. We feel very lucky to have found GSBH! read more

My daughter started preschool here...the bond that I've had with the families in our class will forever impact us in the most positive way. I don't know if we just got lucky but our children all get along flawlessly. The preschool teachers are energetically creative and I couldn't have asked for a better year. We moved to LA this past year and enrolled our daughter at GoodnShepherd. I cannot say enough great things about the school, the teachers and the leadership. In addition to which they creates so much opportunity and exposure for these children not only in academics, but also the arts and creating performing opportunities, great field trips and also teaching Christian values and being of service in their communities. Coming to the school was the best decision we made. Our daughter is extremely happy, doing well academically and socially. Their teachers are highly trained, skilled and intelligent. My two daughters are in their second year at Good Shepherd and I can't say enough good things. We are not Catholic, and were presently surprised at the religious and cultural diversity at the school. The education is wonderful, and our kids are flourishing. I read some of the reviews below and am astonished, I have never seen children be as kind to one another as they are at our school. My older daughter is shy, and has completely come out of her shell, she is more confident and happy than ever. The teachers are supportive and the leadership is excellent. This is not a school that would tolerate bulling, I do think the reviewer below might have the wrong school...there are a few Good Shepherd's in Los Angeles. read more

My son started in Pre K at GS and I can't say enough wonderful things about this school. First I love how the teachers are so involved with the parents and engaged with the children, they text you reminders and call you if there was any problems. They have a phone app that you can download pictures and it serves as a notice board so you know what your child is doing daily. It was important for my son to play and learn, GS is a perfect mix of both, lots of arts and crafts, music, outdoor play but also reading, spanish and learning new letters and numbers. My son could write his name, count to 20 and say the entire alphabet by the end of school year. The parents and other kids were also wonderful, everyone is very involved. The principle, Mrs Colvert is amazing, she is genuine, kind and truly cares about the kids. read more

Very disappointed in the lack of leadership and Christian morals of the principal. Also, very weak teachers in most grades that reflect the leadership. Not worth the money at all or the risk of not having your child prepared academically. read more

My wife and I were very excited to have our son attend this school when we moved to Los Angeles; he had attended a catholic school where we were moving from and the education there was *excellent*, so we figured it would be more of the same. Nothing could have been further from the truth. While I do believe the school applies a significant amount of rigor around Mathematics, the school culture was out of control. Bullying and perpetual conflict were rampant. Yes, there were rules, but nobody followed them, and students were allow to harass, belittle, and even hit their peers with impunity. My son's glasses were broken and as the new kid he was regularly picked, to the point that midway through the school year he would be in tears on Sunday knowing he would have to go to school on Monday. My wife and I tried meeting with his teacher, the Principal, and in desperation other parents to try to get to a good resolution, but nothing ever improved. Finally, when nothing else worked we pulled him out of school and put him into our local school with only 2 months left in the school year. Despite no refund being given for the remainder of the year, this was the best decision we could have made as he immediately was welcomed at his new school and started making new friends. The final interaction we had with Good Sheppard came when we went to pick our son's prepaid school year book and found one of his former classmates had written "please die" in ink in his book. We exchanged the boom for a clean, new one and have never looked back. read more

This schools education is as good as it can get for a private school. It's policy on bullying it some of the finest I've seen, and it's teacher take initiative. The rules are strict but not to much so, and the punishment for them is of the perfect degree. It is one of those schools who is kind enough to give back to the community by donations and service hours. If you have read some of the other reviews you may have seen someone talking about there son getting bullied. That might have been the case in the lower grades like preschool or kindergarten for him to go home crying. As the other reviews have stated, "this person sure doesn't show much Appreciation for the school (or much beyond Papa Johns and Pep Boys, it seems)." read more
