This restaurant is filthy! We came here in the evening to try out the Italian food for dinner. The restaurant is really dirty. My husband went into the bathroom to find a huge cockroach on the floor. They have a large trash can in the hallway near the restrooms where they dump all the food waste, there is trash and food on the floor and all over the outside of the can, super yucky to see in clear sight in a restaurant. The service is rough at best. The staff shouts across the restaurant to each other and patrons, they seem unorganized, and have a very laid back approach to service. The staff is sloppy in dress and mannerism. It feels overly casual and chaotic for a restaurant. I didn't feel like a guest nor like I was at a restaurant, due to the lack of professionalism. It was the middle of the afternoon, well past lunch time but well before time for dinner. We went into this plain-looking diner, expecting nothing, but hopeful for at least passable food. It was not crowded at all, yet the hostess/server/cashier just had to finish rolling about 25 units of silver into napkins before she could come over to seat my group of three. We were taken to one of those tiny bistro type tables. With three hulking dudes in my group, this was too small and I asked for a larger table. She stated in a clearly annoyed tone that the "big" tables were for larger groups (it was a four-top!) and I then pointed out that there were eight diners present and no apparent rush of large groups seeking seating. We were seated alllll the way in the back at a four-top. The server appeared and asked for our drinks. We all asked for water, no lemon. Of course the waters arrived sporting lemon. Don't restaurants understand the e-coli risk in sliced lemons? ... which I have observed are sliced by workers with bare hands. Yuck. We ordered two lunch specials: fish sandwich with fries and slaw and a pickle. It wasn't until later in the day that I realized none of us received the slaw! Ok, not the end of the world, but if you state something in your menu, follow through and actually serve it. The third order was for a cheeseburger and fries, which came out naked (no cheese) and this was sent back for some cheese application. Five minutes later it arrived with a slice of cheese still "hard" and not melted onto the burger at all. Interesting concept. We agreed the food was passable, not bad, but not going to win any awards either. We asked for a menu, intending to order dessert. Guess what? They don't "do" (as the server put it) dessert. Another interesting concept: a place that calls itself a diner, not offering desserts. Ground breaking! The place was clean and the restroom was in order. Parking is easy, in a strip mall parking lot. The diner closes at 3PM daily, which I found to be yet another interesting concept. Would I return? Maybe. I wouldn't go out of my way, and I'd seek out some other place before committing to another meal at the Good Times Diner. I'm not really sure about the "good times" part, frankly. You must come to this place for their BBQ for 2, served every night! (except for Sunday nights) and I don't know where this cook learned to cook, but dude knows good BBQ. We got the sampler with rack of ribs, chicken, pulled pork, and brisket ($37 for 2 people, it coulda really fed 4 people comfortably!). Sides had perfectly cooked corn bread, garlic toast, hush puppies and fries; other options too. There are so many other places that look better, but don't have the good food for the low price like Good Times. This diner has it all where it counts. Dated I stopped in this morning for breakfast. It was not very busy, but then again it is not the season. There were several customers including a couple of large groups that arrived after me and the place was filling up. My first impression was the place was dated, it had a dark look from the ceiling all the way down to the floor. Being dated is not necessarily a bad thing, especially when it comes to dated pricing. I thought the food was quite reasonably priced. The menu seemed cluttered, so I took a little extra time before deciding on what to eat. During this period, and for a few more minutes, I was still waiting for someone to stop over to learn I wanted some coffee. A slow start, but we finally got started, and after that things went normally. I decided on their Crunchy French Toast Combo. The food actually came out quickly. The crunchiness came from oatmeal, which covered the entire surface of the bread. While it didn't add any flavor, it did provide some texture. I usually don't go to restaurants or diners that are part of a strip but was suggested to try this place out by some family and I'm glad I tried it! Went on a Wednesday morning and got seated right away but not too long after we sat down there was a line of people waiting to be seated. The line moved pretty fast but I would say the earlier you get here the better just to ensure you aren't waiting to sit. Had a great cup of a coffee and a great omelette for an insanely fair price. The pricing is where this place gets a little bump up because even a big meal like my omelette was just around $10. Great coffee too! The food was absolutely disgusting. My 6 year old tried his kids burger and refused to eat it. I ordered a steak quesadilla to share with my partner and all of it was left behind. Ery bite was pure fat in my mouth. I attempted it 3 times then decided to stop eating it as well. I do not understand how this food and this meat is served to people. I would not feed my dog with this quality of meat. After this lovely experience I had to track down our server for the check, as she seemed to forget we existed. To make the experience more special, I returned to get my son's juice off the table, and ran into the same waitress and a bus girl, who quite unprofessionally were poking fun, saying that the least I could have done was take my food with me, after paying for it. This restaurant is owned and run by a Mexican family or Latin American. So I opted for the Carne Asada. The steak was just ok. It was a bit tough but not inedible for sure. But it was a greasy, and not seasoned well. There were a lot of onions, which I like but again they were greasy/oily. The portion size was good for the price. The beans were so thick and lumpy, and the cheese on top was not even melted, that I had one little taste and moved on. The rice, didn't really have any flavor but I find most Mexican style rice doesn't. The inside needs some TLC for sure. The booth I sat in reminded me of the teeter totter on a child's playground. Someone could get injured because you can lose your balance on it. My friend had a taco salad with chicken. Two pieces of chicken were on my plate for whatever reason and the texture was off for sure. This has to be the best place for just good old comfort food. The staff are all genuinely friendly. Rosie was my server the first time that I went for lunch. My husband and I had no idea what to choose. She suggested their fish sandwich. What a perfect choice. It was so freaking yummy! We were so pleased. I made the mistake of adding too much Louisiana Hot sauce and needed to ask the manager immediately for a pickle to cool down my mouth. Not only did he bring me a pickle. He brought me total of three pickles. The atmosphere is very laid back. A true neighborhood hang out. Everyone seemed to know each other. That only made them so welcoming to know us too. Just returned from what is probably the last time I will ever go here Feb. 9 2022. I ordered breakfast late in the day about 2:30pm. I was with a friend. I ordered an omelet and my friend did too. The waitress seemed to not really care less about what we were being served. The the real big problem was this... While we ere eating there was a very strong smell of some kind of cleaning fluid. They were obviously in a hurry to get out of there. Maybe they did that on purpose, I don't know. But it was a very strong smell of disinfectant. It was so strong that my friend did not want to finish her meal. It is now an hour after leaving there and all I can smell is the strong smell of disinfectant cleaning fluid.
