It was very good, we got a half dozen of buffalo chicken wings (they also had teriyaki, honey bbq, and old bay)it was served with your choice of ranch or blue cheese, they were good but not great-$8 for 6 wings and $15 for 12-. We also got the mozzarella sticks which were served with marinara sauce and were hot and stretchy, they were very good-$8-. The onion rings were amazing, they have lots of flavor-$7-. My favorite was the blackened tuna, it had great flavor and was served with lemon and some wasabi aioli (it had a kick to it)-$12-. My father liked his beer, but my mom did not like her mai tai. The subtotal was about 62 dollars. The atmosphere was good and I feel safe in there because they follow the 42 person limit and wipe down everything. My girlfriend and I wanted to enjoy a nice meal together at our last night in OBX. We ordered a crab cake sandwich that we shared. I ate my half, she saw a long hair in the other half of the sandwich. I took it up to the bar and was met by the most unprofessional manager I have ever dealt with in my life. I told her what happened, she stood there and looked at me, and asked without any remorse what I wanted her to do about it. I said I would like an apology and a new sandwich. Her reply was "well things like this do happen!" I was angry and decided to walk away and go back to our table. Less that 2 minutes later the manger comes to our table with our check, minus the cost of the hairy crab cake sandwich. The message, pay your bill and get out of the restaurant! We finished our other food, and I went back to the bar to pay, was met with a defensive unremorsful attitude. I told her that this was the worst experience with a manager I have ever had at any restaurant in my life. She then proceeded to falsely accuse us of intentionally putting the hair in our food!! She asked, " So how often do you guys do this?" I am a healthcare professional on vacation in OBX and am more than able to pay for my food. This woman was the most unprofessional, insulting, rude, and defensive restaurant manager I have ever encountered. I put myself through medical school working in the dining industry and cannot believe that she had the audacity to falsely accuse us of intentionally contaminating our food. Our waitress was AWESOME and very friendly but they are clearly understaffed due to current circumstances (there were 2 waitresses for the entire restaurant and they were having an issue with their credit card machine which was causing some chaos). The drinks are just ok and I felt they were overpriced for the amount of alcohol that was in them. The highlights of the meal from our group were the tuna sandwich and the crab cakes which both received rave reviews. I got a fried basket of oysters and scallops and it was not good. The oysters were breaded and fried well, but the scallops had almost no breading and were very greasy. Since they were placed on top of the fries they were just soaked in grease and soggy. There also seemed to be a fly problem here, maybe because the door on the first floor is always open to the shops below, but it was very annoying. read more

Our 30 minute wait to eat was well worth it!! I had the fried oysters that were lightly breaded, plentiful, plump and fresh. My husband had shrimp and scallop scampi that he said was excellent. We waited for our table on an outside deck overlooking the sound, where we could watch people parakiting. The waitress was very pleasant and gave us excellent service. This restaurant sits on the 2nd floor, there is an elevator or stair for access. Below the restaurant are several gift shops. My only suggestion is don't go on a windy day. The access to the deck is in the restaurant. The heavy glass door has a sign on it to not let it slam shut. All through dinner patrons coming in and out from the deck ignored the sign. While on vacation and road anthem we came across this restaurant. Was definitely a locals favorite hangout and offered some great food and fresh seafood. We were kidding about looking for crab claws but lo and behold here we found them and not for some outrageous price but for a very reasonable price. They were cooked perfectly cracked easily and were absolutely delicious. They tasted like they were fresh that day and served with clarified butter unless you wanted something else. For me that's all I need is the crab just keep the crap coming and I'm a happy girl. There was the crab boil course with the red potatoes and corn on the cob in Old Bay seasoning which was absolutely delicious. What can I say if you want fresh seafood it doesn't get much better than this and I'm from Florida. What's a girl to do? I am not one to complain but we will not be back! out of many items (which I understand because of suppliers) but the food was not cooked, waitstaff was miserable and literally threw our fries on the table when we asked for a side- since we were not told they no longer came with sandwiches (even though the menu stated they did), was told our kids meal cheese burger did not have cheese because they were short staffed. Great little restaurant. Our waitress Missy handled our party of 10...7 of which were children... Without issue. The food we ordered was very good. This ranged from cheese pizza to scallops wrapped in bacon...mmmm, bacon! Everybody really liked the fries. Stopped in to Good Winds this past Monday for a mid-afternoon lunch and maybe a plate of oysters. Our server Amber told us how they had unfortunately been out of oysters for the past couple of days. But she then told us that she expected a shipment in on Wednesday if we were still going to be at the beach and that she could call me if it came in. Well, bottom line is that Amber was absolutely true to her word and not only texted me once the oysters came in, but took our request to hold out 2 dozen for us to come in later on a Wednesday to enjoy and made sure everyone knew we were coming for them. Yay for Amber!! But back to lunch: Taylor and I both ordered crab cake sandwiches -- grilled for me and fried for her. Again, Amber came to us after placing the order to tell us that the remoulade sauce was out, but that she could have the kitchen prepare us some homemade spicy aioli sauce as a substitute. Yay for Amber again!! The crab cakes had the perfect level of doneness: searing on my grilled one had just enough crispness and the interior just about melted in my mouth. Although Taylor had ordered fried, she was happy that the degree of frying was also crisp without being pub-ish. All in all, it was a great lunch with fantastic service!! Let me start by saying that if I would have had this experience at home, I would've given it 3 stars. It was decent for what it was. It's a nice space with a great outdoor area that is not being fully taken advantage of. The outdoor area was more of a waiting area and not a seating area. There were a few seats outside but they were off to the side. The service was good. It was prompt, friendly. The prices were not a shock but I expected more based on the price. The portions were good, unfortunately the food lacked flavor. The effort was there in terms of the presentation but that was also lacking. The main dish was the mahi and shrimp. I tipped the waiter based on the attentiveness and personality. After giving him the tip, he thanked me for my generosity which I thought was really nice. We visited Good Winds around 5:30pm on a Friday night. While this place was advertised as a wine bar, the menu had no wine on it and the waitress didn't seem to have any idea what types of wine they served. The waitress was kind and accommodating and eventually helped us settle on a bottle of Pinot Grigio from Italy. It was only $28 and tasted terrific...so we were not complaining. Our first glance at the menu had us concerned. Fried shrimp, fried fish, fried oysters, fried scallops...almost the entire menu is fried. We kept seeing other patrons receive plastic baskets with wax paper in it. We finally settled on house salads, the Ribeye, and mashed potatoes. While the menu said they had baked potatoes, the waitress informed us that they only starch they had that evening was mashed potatoes. The salads were impressive. No iceberg lettuce in these salads! The mixed greens, tomato, and cucumber were paired nicely with a balsamic vinaigrette for me and blue cheese for my husband. I would easily give five stars on the salads! When the steak arrived...my husband swore it was not a ribeye. The flavor was okay, but it was tough. Definitely disappointing for a $27 steak.
