This restaurant & bar was a great pick. The mural on the wall is great. The service was amazing. The food was delicious. I'm a huge wedding soup fan and theirs is great, even tho it had carrots in it. Wedding soup should NOT have carrots. Fortunately, there weren't too many and the taste of the soup was great. The Italian egg rolls were delicious. The shell was so crisp and perfect. My friend said the chicken parm was also delicious and that was a lot of food. Prices are reasonable. Great place for locals to hang out, grab a drink, or watch some football! This is one of our new favorites since moving nearby. Love their chicken tenders & fries, fish sandwich, italian hoagie, etc. Can't go wrong! We really like the one bartender here she's super nice I wish I remembered her name. Good overall experience my first trip to GoodFellas! I placed my order online ahead of time around 5pm on a weekday. It said the order would be ready in about 25 minutes. I showed up right on time and the order was ready! I entered through the bar however I didn't realize there is a door on the side for takeout- I will enter that way next time. When I got home all the food had transferred well and was still hot. I ordered the fish sandwich and my hubby got the eggplant parm sandwich. No pictures because I devoured mine so fast. It was really good! I will definitely be ordering it again!!! There is SO much on the menu to order and they have a cute outdoor area for when its warm out. They don't do table service outdoors but you can order takeout and sit there. We will definitely be back! read more

As long as you set your expectations correctly you'll absolutely be satisfied aka get tavern food...no need to get creative and expect a bit of a wait, given normal Covid staffing. Starting positive, the burgers were amazing! My friend had the hangover burger and I had the bourbon bleu cheese mushroom burger. Both were excellent! My friend described the hangover burger as a bunch of things you wouldn't think makes sense together but was perfect! Beyond the burgers the rest of the experience was okay. The cheesesteak egg rolls were like beef stew wrapped in a fried shell and they were topped with lukewarm, shredded cheese. The service was slow but the server was apologetic and very friendly. As for Covid friendliness, the hand sanitizer on the table was a nice touch and they have a lot of clear directions about mask wearing posted everywhere. It wasn't really enforced well, for those who are sticklers for that but we weren't bothered. We'd absolutely get a burger here again! read more

After being turned away from the nearby Firehall fish fry, we decided to satisfy our fish cravings at GoodFellas. We ordered the (Lent special) fish sandwich and the fried butterflied shrimp and hushpuppies to share. Everything was hot, and the hushpuppies had a delightfully crispy crust with a good cornmeal flavor and texture. The shrimp batter was light and crunchy, while the shrimp were tender and moist. The fish sandwich was standard but executed well. Service in the bar area was quick and friendly, but the draft options were limited--only six taps, and none with an IPA. Beer is super cheap, solid selection, and the specials during Pens and Steelers games on Miller Lite are great. Dollar off drinks during happy hour too. But the food! Man it's good. The pizza is great, the crust is the best I've had in Pittsburgh. Tons of veggie options. Homemade chips are killer with their honey mustard. Love that they have trivial pursuit cards on the bar. Don't expect tablecloths and cloth napkins-that would take away from the feel. Otherwise, homemade is prominent!! We ordered a chicken sandwich, a burger, chips and slaw. But, I must say the BEST item we ordered was the Greens and Beans!! A*M*A*Z*I*N*G. Plenty of seating. It seems they also have a nice group of regulars. The food is all cooked fresh daily and out of the tens of times that I've been here, I have yet to be disappointed. You also cannot be disappointed with price, you'll pop before you're wallet empties. If you want a local bar that has a great domestic beer selection, home cooking, and is run by kind/honest local folks; look no further. Where do I even begin? We arrived at 7:30 pm on a Tuesday. There was indoor and outdoor seating available, and we walked into the bar and i asked if it was self seating. A female bar tender looked quite annoyed, and said we could seat ourselves. She then came over to our table and loudly proclaimed that she was "supposed to be done hours ago", wiped our table off, and walked away. We weren't sure if that meant she wanted us to leave, or if someone else would be serving us. She then stayed for the entirety of our meal, going back and forth behind the bar pouring herself drinks and was also screaming at someone at the end of the bar (an older gray haired man). There was also a few patrons seated at the bar who were screaming at each other, loudly, with multiple swear words thrown about (mostly F***), for close to 45 minutes. They were also screaming at the gray haired man at the end of the bar (same one the bartender was having words with). From other reviews i read, this may be the owner of Goodfellas. I am not sure why an establishment would allow this behavior, especially with a crowd of people attempting to watch a a hockey game and eat dinner. The ONLY good thing I have to say, is the male bartender ran around like a mad man, taking phone orders, serving, taking table orders, making drinks, and grabbing take out orders. Our food would have been tasty, had it been served in a reasonable time frame. We waited an hour for a salad and pasta. The pasta was warm, at least. But my salad had ice cold fries and cold chicken. I feel bad I recommended this place to two friends, who happened to order take out this same evening. When they came in to pick up their take out order, we talked for a few moments. On their way out the door, there was a mouse that ran across the floor. They texted me and told me they threw their food out. So disappointed because i really wanted to like this place. read more

I had this place bookmarked to go to for when I was in the area. It has a 4 1/2 star rating. Today we were in the area and decided to check it out. Bad decision. When we walked in there was no one in the dining room and maybe 3 people at the bar. The bartender was a very friendly woman. She was very welcoming. She told us all about the specials. The restaurant was updated and clean. We were off to a great start. Then we ordered. We waited. . . . and waited. . . and waited . . . And waited for our food. The bar became full and people were seated in the restaurant. And still we waited. It took us over THIRTY MINUTES to get our lunch. We were starving!!! Our orders were simple-a fish sandwich with coleslaw and a Buffalo Chicken Sandwich with tater tots. Nothing special. Items that they make every day. Yet the wait was outrageous. One of the two cooks even came out of the kitchen and sat at the bar and had a beer. I guess cooking the food of the patrons wasn't a priority to him. IF the food was outstanding. . . It's a smidge better but this food was barely average and they messed up my husband's sandwich. The bartender asked if he wanted it grilled or fried. He said grilled. It came out fried. The sauce was sweet, not hot. My fish sandwich was long and appeared to be huge. Instead the fish was very thin and you were mostly eating bread. No. Nope. Nada. Never again. read more
