She had just moved in and there was a sticker on the inside cabinet door under her sink saying she gets a free water filter for drinking water hooked up under her sink. I told her I'd make the appointment for the installation. A day or 2 later Michale comes to my mom's with this presentation on a whole house filtration system and my mom assumed it was the person I made an appointment with. She was confused by the whole thing and then felt obligated once he brought up payment and she signed a contract and gave him her debit card. I called him 2 days later explaining her memory issues and confusion about him being the guy with the free filter. I explained she is retired and on a fixed income and can't afford the $80-something/month bill. He still tried to convince me to have her keep it. He then insisted that my mom pay $900 to have it uninstalled. He said it was $450 labor to install and $450 labor to uninstall it. I again explained she doesn't have $900 because she is on a fixed income and it would disable her from being able to pay her mortgage and other bills. He played a game of saying he'd see if accounting could do anything but there is no accounting and no company, it is just him. He refused to take anything off the bill and have any understanding of my mom's financial situation. He said he wouldn't uninstall it until she paid and the best he could do was 2 payments of $450. I told him that wasn't possible. He finally came to uninstall it after weeks and he then started debiting my mom's card $100 per week with no permission. I'm having to take measures to stop the payments. This guy is a predator and a thief with seniors. Beware!

At the one-year point, they came and changed out the filters, which they had promised would be free, but Angel Sr. said the cost was $300. Unfortunately, as we never received any paperwork on the warranty or contract, we had no idea what we should do. Now (July 2025), and we're having issues with the system, and they are not responding to our texts or phone calls. Thankfully, Penguin Water in Indiana has been great. Their technical support is walking me through my own repairs. Interestingly, they have no information that I, or my phone number or my address, ever purchased a Penguin System from Angel.
