I recently stopped in for an impromptu lunch visit. This is a no-frills, down home, downtown deli shop. I had the Zebra Veggie sandwich because I gave up meat for the last few days of the Lenten season. It was a pretty tasty. I ordered prior to a regular, yet she received her meal before mine. The food is not good. You get very little for your money, the salad bar closes an hour before they do and it's straight up deli meat on a cold roll, everything is store bought. Going here is almost a surreal experience. There will almost always be more workers than there are customers, so anything you order will be made lightning fast. The coffee is super good, and gets me ready to continue working. There are not many options for vegetarians (pb&j or cheese sandwich) but dang do they make a great grilled cheese. Lots of options to spruce it up. If you're sitting inside, just be prepared for the many empty chairs and tables. It's almost comical compared to how many workers there are. Quite the Lucky Goat I am to have found Goodies Eatery on College Avenue in Tallahassee, Florida. In all actuality, I have eaten at Goodies Eatery on a handful of occasions when visiting the state capitol. Fast, friendly and polite service - they deliver as well. For breakfast I typically order the bacon, egg, and cheese bagel at $4.09. As for coffee, it's the Lucky Goat in several different varieties. Eating in, your coffee is served in a ceramic mug. Taking it "to go" - your coffee is served in a "to go" cup. When ordering lunch, it's usually the Gobble Goodie, which is sliced turkey breast on whole wheat, topped with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, sprouts and veggie spread at $6.25. I'm a cheapskate, so it's water as my beverage. That's free. Convenient downtown location near the state capitol. Parking is tight, but as I mentioned - they deliver. Downtown Tallahassee. Where do I start. Tallahassee is very limited on available eatery's. There's basically two (2), Goodies and..... their competition. The high marks, Goodies location is good for area businesses for a breakfast or lunch spot. Service is very good. Atmosphere is relaxed and nicely decorated. Great selection of coffee's as the menu is adequate. The restaurant is always very clean and tidy. The staff are very well trained and do a great job. The low marks, hate to say it.. their sandwiches.. my wife had the Parlez Vaus Chicken sandwich. Barely enough chicken salad to cover the bread. Very watery and runny. You could hold it up and water would drip from the sandwich. As well, the flavor was very bland. As for myself, I ordered the Turkey BLT. It had potential had it been properly proportioned with adequate turkey. It had one thin slice of Turkey. The sandwich was mostly bread with little Turkey and barely enough bacon. Soup.. a great soup selection, however only two of the rather large list are available. I'm okay with that. I understand making all soups would be a large task, and waste if no one eats them. Broccoli cheese was not available so I opted for loaded potato soup. Horrible.. absolutely no flavor. Watery, as if water was added to the soup to make it go farther. So disappointing. The soup comes in an 8 ounce styrofoam cup. Which was cold. Not warmed at all. The soup was 4.50 for one cup and 5.00 for the second... using the online ordering. Why the increase in price? Good question. Our total for this lunch was over 25.00. High marks, everywhere but where it counted the most... the food.. read more

What's not to like here? The inexpensive deli in downtown Tallahassee succeeds at serving their business clientele with ease. They offer a wide selection of sandwiches, salads and soups. Goodies also caters upon request. A full coffee bar with handspun milkshakes makes for a unique experience. Also met a colleague for coffee, and the inside is great. They have a full Lucky Goat coffee bar as well as the food service--muffins, breakfast sandwiches, etc. And, they're open at 7AM! We came in today for brunch, order 1 an Asiago bagel, cream cheese and a banana, my order was an English muffin with no cheese add egg, bacon and sausage, a bag of chips, a water and large coffee. When our food came my order was a quarter size egg on my small English muffin, bacon and my chips. I sent it back and next got a slightly bigger egg and sausage on my English muffin and now no bacon. I walk up to the counter and ask for a third time for my order to be correct,,,, still no coffee. My order comes out more less correct now,,,, now I'm asking for my coffee..... The whole time there are three kids behind the counter, two girls and one young man and there giving me looks like I'm the problem while there all behind the same counter like it's a high school hang out instead of getting my food right... Thanks for screwing up my I order three times, making me wait 20 minutes for my coffee and giving me dirty looks the whole time.... this is sad and unacceptable. read more

Meh. The breakfast sandwiches were above average if not a little bland. The coffee and tea were a little below average and far from bland (that's not a compliment by the way). I enjoy the breakfast at Goodies more than the lunch. For breakfast, there are a selection of muffins, bagels, danishes, and biscuits with meat, eggs, cheese, and so forth. I was told by the staff that the muffins and bagels are NOT made on site but the danishes were, so I had a danish and a biscuit with ham. Boy, the biscuit was surprisingly good. If they aren't making their own biscuits, they are using a brand I've never had before but that are very tasty. Soft and crumbling and not at all greasy. Paired really well with the ham (Boar's Head?). The danish - I could believe it was homemade. Being from the South, I'm not super familiar with danishes, but the apple danish was crisp and had a great apple taste. Prices for breakfast were incredibly reasonable, at just a dollar or two per item. Lunch was less impressive. This is pretty much your run-of-the-mill Boar's Head small time sandwich shop. Meaning their sandwiches are perfectly serviceable but taste the same as at every other such sandwich shop. There are very few breakfast eateries I am aware of in the immediate (and walkable) vicinity of the Capitol. The only other thing that really comes to mind is Savannah's Country Buffet on Gaines Street, but that's a bit of a hike for most people. And while the crowd at Savannah's will be blue-collar working folk, the crowd at Goodies is definitely the Tallahassee Capitol Crew. Lobbyists, attorneys, and office workers of all stripes. Definitely a yuppie crowd, but fortunately not yuppie or (God-forbid) "foodie" prices. read more

Stopped in for a Lucky Goat latte after eating at Downtown Ramen. The barista actually had real ceramic mugs instead of the typical styrofoam or paper. Next day stopped in again before heading home. Same barista and he told me my order by memory from the day before. This time however I needed cups "to go". While waiting for the lattes I read a framed article on the wall. Seems the barista is the owner. Runs a great shop. Treats his people right as well as his customers. Highly recommend. read more

This is a sandwich shop that also has some soup and salad. I was thinking the place was going to be good but sadly I was disappointed again in downtown Tally. Service was slow and we weren't there during a busy time. Meats were just okay and the bread was similarly just okay. I always expect a nice dill or garlic spear with my sandwich. Its small and its cramped. I ordered two bowls of soup and a yogurt and my bill was over 13 dollars. I'm not complaining about the price really, The soup and chili were seved in small styrofoam bowls though. The counters are kind of cluttered, and the table arrangements inside with the four chairs around each square table are angled strangely which means that there is even more difficulty for PEOPLE to get the straws, plastic silverware and other stuff PLUS I am skinny. read more

Wow, I can't believe no one else has rated this place. I loved it, although the food isn't all that, just because it's so close to the Capitol and a safe bet for lunch. My husband got a Ruben sandwich which was delicious. I enjoyed my Turkey Club on sour dough bread. However, the bread didn't taste like sour dough. I was in Tallahassee briefly for work and stopped here for lunch. I ordered the Turkey Club, but was skeptical of what I might receive. I was pleasantly surprised! Lots of meat and other toppings, not just lots of bread. They happily substituted mustard for mayo, it was a great sandwich.
