We visited Goodpeople on a Sunday morning of a holiday weekend when we were in the area and looking for a place we can get coffee and a breakfast burrito. We had our dog with us so the dog-friendly patio was what drew us to selecting Goodpeople. We found street parking after circling the neighborhood a couple of times. The drink menu immediately cracked me up because the "vanilla bullsh%&#" drink is a respectful nod to one of my favorite scenes from Curb Your Enthusiasm. We split the Los Cali Brekkie burrito which features sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, cheese, French fries and a house made Sriracha aioli but we substituted the cilantro aioli. The filling of the burriot was super soft and mush but it worked. There was a guy out back frying up fresh donuts. There was a pet adoption event going on and although it was a hot day the shade sails and fans really kept the patio tolerable and pleasant. read more

Stopped by this place because I heard good things. When you first enter, it appears small with no seating however they have an outdoor seating areas past the bar what's has plenty of seating. I ordered the snack size Los Cali brekkie burrito and the strawberry fields matcha. The burrito was fresh, soft chewy tortilla and some of the best spiced sausage. The snack size it the perfect size if you want a small taste and on the go. The strawberry matcha was a balance of sweet and earthy and I enjoyed every sip! I'll definitely plan to return and order some other great menu items they have to offer. read more

I've been meaning to come here for about 3 years, walking or driving by, but the timing was never right. The stars finally aligned* and wow! The staff is very friendly and accommodating. My family and I just moved into the area and we're stoked to have already found one of my favorite coffee spots in SoCal! We've already done delivery and an in-person visit and both experiences have been excellent. Both the 'F*ck the 405' blend and single origin filter brews are bright and balanced enough to easily drink black while specialty drinks like The Princess Leia (caramel latte topped with house-made vanilla sweet cream and gold dust) and dirty chai latte were some of the best we've tasted yet. For noms, the Hot Pocket croissant filled with scrambled eggs, ham & cheddar was absolutely pillowy soft and hearty with 'just right' butteriness. Staff has been friendly and welcoming and the expansive patio in the back with plenty of well-spaced seating and artificial turf is a fantastic area to relax and/or be productive with the solid WiFi. Stumbled on Goodpeople on my way to another coffee shop and the outside got my attention instantly! So I had to come in and I'm so happy I did. Not only did it have drinks that were right up my alley (Blueberry matcha with house made syrups) the cafe itself had character. Though it's a smaller cafe (inside) It wasn't too busy when I went (around 10 AM on a Wednesday) so it didn't feel overwhelming. The staff was super friendly and it felt like there was a sense of community among the workers themselves and the patrons. One of the staff was literally reviewing different coffee types with someone else. Overall such a nice place with good people and good vibes. Also! I got the princess leia and it was really good the caramel sauce felt like authentic caramel (?) with substance and not a super thin one that gets swallowed up in the coffee. read more

The vibe of good people is very welcoming. the ladies who assisted me & created my matcha drink was absolutely lovely with the sweetest attitude. the decor is very unique & different just like the name of the matcha drink i ordered. the matcha drink i got is called ' the notorious vanilla bullshit ' which is very unique & different. This is my favorite coffee spot in Sawtelle! I've tried about 15 different coffee shops in this neighborhood looking to see if anything can beat Good People, and no other place compares. My go-to, but the Junior Mint, is consistently delicious. Their avocado toast is absolutely to die for, too; It has the perfect mix of sweet, salty, acidic, and umami flavors. Their pastries are crazy good too! Get the pink sprinkle donut, it will not disappoint! I love coming here to bask in the sunshine and fresh air in their giant patio, saying hello to all the cute dogs that come with their owners. All in all, vibes: 10/10. Coffee: 10/10. Food: 10/10. Cute stop by, or stay and work coffee shop nestled in Santa Monica. Aesthetic & Ambience: 9/10 came here for a social event and the aesthetic was chic coffee alley with an backyard party setup. The ambiance was fun and open, but probably pretty quiet otherwise since people go there to work. Service: 9/10 barista was super nice and drinks came out quick. Goodpeople is run by genuinely good people--from the super knowledgeable and kind baristas to the positive community and equitable messaging everywhere. It's a rare third space where locals can grab delicious coffee and work or mingle in the green space in the back. I tried their matcha iced latte with almond milk - unfortunately the almond flavor overpowered the match, I'd try with oat milk next time! Holy smokes that was good. Ordered breakfast delivery after getting home from a very long trip. It arrived in under 30min, very well packaged. The barista took time to wrap my iced drink in a napkin and tape the top so it wouldn't spill. I went with the brekkie sando - everything bagel, egg, greens, sauce - and a strawberry fields matcha. Both were fantastic. Not just good. Like you can't eat in fast enough fantastic. I meant to take photos but forgot after the first bite. Whoops. Hands down my favorite coffee shop on the Westside. Minority owned. Amazing coffee (AND matcha). Bomb music and food. The vibes are just amazing. They have only an outdoor patio with plenty of seating that's shaded with a couple of outlets. It's never packed and it is a perfect place to catch up with a friend or to get some work/studying done. I have been to this location twice now, months apart and I have never been made to feel more uncomfortable as I did then when I came to this establishment. The first time we tried GoodPeople, it was at your location that shut down (in a food court type place) and the coffee and service was top notch. We then tried the mother ship location last time we were here and the service was horrible. I mean your baristas are so rude, it was almost ridiculous. Then we come down and give your location another chance and again today, your baristas were extremely rude and made me uncomfortable. It's as though because you have a following, you don't have to treat everyone with kindness. You were busy and all you cared about was getting folks through the line, not about what they need or like or what you could do to fix a situation where someone was unhappy or unsure. You should have been open to offering suggestions on how to fix the situation. We will never give you our business again. It's not about money but how you treat people. Kindness is not a price tag. Talk to your baristas about people skills and treating everyone fairly and kindly. You have no idea who you were serving, who we know, the influence we may or may not have. DO BETTER! read more

Stopped by this evening for a late coffee. The girl with colored hair working was so sweet and accommodating as I tend to be so picky with my coffee. The few times I've been here I had a great experience and the huge menu is a plus. I'm not used to seeing so much variety in a coffee shop food menu. Good vibes here so far, I've been visiting Bonsai across the street from them and stopped going because the baristas were always so rude. I came here this afternoon with a friend and had an exquisite experience. The service was friendly and helpful and I ordered the dirty chai latte with oat milk. The cup was cute and quirky and the latte art was gorgeous. I liked all the cute signage too. The latte itself was perfectly sweet and spicy and had a nice kick to it. I really loved the outdoor patio which was huge and spacious. It was very relaxing on a warm spring day. The tables and chairs were all clean and comfy. If I lived in LA I would go here every. single. day. It is so good!! I ordered the Vanilla Bullshit hot, with whole milk and I've had a lot of vanilla lattes in my day but this one took the gold!! I don't know what they do but it was so deliciously sweet yet balanced. The cinnamon even tastes better than elsewhere. Parking isn't ideal because it's mostly residential permit parking but you will find a spot, it's worth it. Bonus- it's minority owned and celebrates diversity. Came in on a Wednesday to work since I was getting my car serviced just a block over. Plenty of seating in the back patio area, but the front doesn't really show that. Love the names of the specialty drinks and love that they also do matcha! I ordered at the counter and for whatever reason my credit cards did not work so thank goodness they still accepted cash. Easy to find a seat to set up my workspace. They also had plenty of extension cords to charge your devices, but ofc I forgot mine. Definitely could stay longer if needed. The weather was perfect out so the outside seating is amazing. I liked how they had the option of a mini or large burrito, although after getting the large I'm wondering how small the small is. I'm just used to big burritos the size of my forearm is all so the large was half of that already. Food came out quick and presented nicely. The drink was super tasty! Definitely a great spot to study/work or even hang out with friends to chat. Just have to ask for the WiFi and that was easy to connect to and was quite strong. Goodpeople is a great coffee shop! This is a great place to sit down and get some work done. They have a spacious patio in the back that has plenty of seating. I got the Purple Nurple and it was delicious. I got it with oat milk instead of whole milk and it tasted great. I really liked the ube flavor combined with their F*ck the 405 blend. The ube flavor was still present which I appreciate since most of the time it gets overpowered by the milk flavor. For brunch, I got the Shroom Panini and it was so good! A great filling, vegetarian brunch option. The flavors were so good and they complemented each other well. The other photos listed are a Purple Nurple (without coffee) and a Brekkie Sando. I always have a good time at Good People, this place is definitely a vibe. The staff is always friendly and helpful if you're undecided about what to order. I usually go with an iced vanilla bullshit with oat milk and sometimes I get a breakfast burrito. When they're busy, the burrito takes a long time to come out but when it does.... Oooh it is hot and fresh, and the champagne papi sauce (chipotle aioli) is fire! Not too spicy but it definitely has a swift kick! Stopped in for a coffee with a friend and we were promptly greeted by a friendly barista. A man who I believe is the owner was dealing with a somewhat agitated homeless person. He gave the man a free coffee and politely but firmly de escalated the situation and asked the man to leave. Kudos to the employees for handling the situation as well as they did, I'm sure it happens a lot based on where they are located. Once that was over we were quickly attended to and the barista made friendly conversation while taking our order and making our drinks. My iced oat milk latte was great and my friend ordered a pour over coffee. We were took our drinks to go, but I walked though to the back patio which was way bigger than I expected! I would definitely come back and sit a while with a book and a latte. I didn't drive, but I believe the only parking available was metered street parking. Really wanted to like this spot but it was a definite let down. This spot is good for dog lovers and friends to casually catch up but not a good spot for coffee lovers or large friend groups. * coffee variety and options were plentiful but the taste was no bueno. * cappuccino was watery and sour despite the espresso & latte art looking creamy. The brown sugar comes in a syrup instead of crunchy sprinkles and it tasted a bit artificial (had a slight tinge of stevia or artificial flavoring to it) * chai latte - objectively the worst chai latte I've ever had. Had a huge over bearing spice kick to it and instead of sifting the spices & cinnamon through a sifter, the spices came out clumpy and each sip was a mouthful of unpleasant grainy spices. I hate wasting food but I ended up not drinking this at all as it was hard to down. * purple nurple - Ube latte - pleasant to drink if you have a sweet tooth but it just tasted like medium thick Ube milk and the Ube was a bit artificial as if it came form those extract syrup bottles you buy at the store. * the sally (2023 fall seasonal dehydrated apple latte) - tasted like an overly artificially sweet milk latte. Couldn't taste the apple flavor and couldn't taste any vanilla latte aspects to it either. It was a bit more enjoyable than the chai but even this one was way too sweet and not in a good way. after a few sips I ended up carrying this latte around the entire morning (didn't want to throw it away because it was my second coffee cup after dumping the chai latte) and eventually I placed it in the fridge which I never touched again. Pros: * dogs are welcomed. There's a large turf patio in the back with shade. Water and dog bowls are available at a self serve station. * dog meals for purchase ($8) - beef and sweet potato * they serve breakfast and lunch but it didn't look tasty but more so as just substance Cons: * coffee was really bad here. Speciality lattes (except for the Ube) was also really bad and non enjoyable. * pricey. $15 for two cups of coffee that I didn't even drink * parking is scarce. There's 3 meter parking in the front of the shop if you get lucky and a few meter parkings around the corner but it's a further walk. * the tables and chairs were built on metal wobbly frames so it was not enjoyable to lounge and sip. * other than the friendly dog aspect, I wouldn't come back here ------- Owner's comment was shocking to say the least especially since all of their drinks were heavily doused with sweet syrup read more

Notorious vanilla Bullsh*t Latte= YAY (tasty with a notable Smokey flavor!) Avocado Toast= my gosh. I knew most places couldn't really get this menu item wrong...but I had no idea just how RIGHT it could be!
