AMBIANCE as you may expect from the name, motoring coffee is a cafe with an automobile theme. since it's housed in the west LA motoring club's warehouse, you can enjoy ample natural light and catch glimpses of the cars on display in the adjacent membership-only lounge. i visited before 10 am on a saturday, so the space was relaxed and not too loud. COFFEE there is no extra charge for milk alternatives, so i ordered a latte with oat milk ($5.75)! the taste was solid and leaned a bit acidic. service was quick. WIFI it seems that wifi can be unlocked with a password but i wasn't able connect to it perhaps because the password on the sign is outdated. RESTROOM there is only one unisex restroom available, but it is quite spacious. read more

i think this place is very hit or miss depending on what you want to get out of it... if you like cars, want to catch a vibe, and aren't super picky about what you drink, then this is a great space for you! if you are an avid coffee drinker, this may not be for you. pretty limited menu, and i honestly wouldn't bother trying the matcha or chai based on the fact that their coffee isn't impressive. i did end up getting a pesto tomato pastry which was surprisingly good! some spots to work, but pretty taken up by the time i got there on a saturday morning. the merchandise is cool and some cars on display, but most are behind the membership paywall. they do have the redbull f1 car on display for the next two weeks though! probably won't be back, but know friends who love this place!! read more

The only reason I ended up here is because a family member visiting from another country wanted to see this cafe that he found on TikTok. I ordered a cold brew which had a weird after taste that I have never experienced before and cold brew is my drink of choice. The cafe itself has like one car and a couple of bikes but the majority of the cars are not accessible because they are within the club area and only people who pay a membership fee can access it. Limited scattered seating mostly taken up by people on their laptops and one guy was straight up sleeping taking up an entire seating area. I wasn't sure I fully understood Motoring when I stepped inside. It is what it professes to be; a motoring club, for the most part, with more than a few impressive cars to ogle while you drink your coffee. I know next to nothing about cars, but I do know that anyone with technical, mechanical competency is bound to know how to dial in a good espresso. And so it was! Their cappuccino was great. I debated getting something more substantial but I like to try a place's basics before I jump right into the much-coveted mocha, or what have you. It's an interesting place with a nice group of baristas up front - the pit crew? - and I'm genuinely curious to try them again. I just need to bring a friend who's into cars. read more

Café with one of the best ambiances, but the drink and food item I had was just okay. I visited this coffee shop on an early Tuesday morning before work and my experience here was good. For drinks, I got their specialty drink "Traction Control" Iced which is essentially a blueberry matcha drink. It was okay, but I've had better matcha blueberry drinks. I also wasn't the biggest fan of the flavor and the grainy bits. For food I got their ham and cheese croissant and it was good, but not worth the $7.50 paid for it. It is quite big though. They warm it up upon request and it was nicely flaky. I also appreciated how the barista gave me a thorough rundown of the coffee shop's specialties. The best part of this spot is the ambiance. The interior is big and full of different vehicles. It was like a motor vehicle museum. There are also lots of table and chairs scattered around and even some comfy seating areas. There's also Wi-Fi, but I didn't see any outlets. This is a great place to relax, socialize, and get some work done. I also like how there's a free photo print machine. Super cute! Looking for cool coffee shops and we came across this one here. We got here at 7:48am so glad this opens up early. We were excited to look around and enjoy our drinks (group of 8) but we didn't. looks like members ONLY, FOR ADMISSIONS TO SEE THE REST OF THE CARS. We ordered Hot Chocolate, Vanilla latte, and my favorite 'Traction Control ' Blueberry Matcha with oat milk topped with graham crackers dust (delicious). This is part of a local automobile club and they have sectioned off about a third of the facility as a public coffee shop with static displays of unique, classic automobiles and motorcycles The lattes, cappuccinos, Matcha's are reasonably priced and taste great. It's the corner of Olympic and Stoner south side of the street perhaps six parking spaces in front but you can also drive around and find some parking on the street. read more

You know it really says something when a Teriyaki vendor for an event can't sell because the clientele at this cafe are the types not to eat rice.. I'm not a car person so I can't comment too much on that but I visited because there was an event and for an event space it's pretty neat. Lots of vintage vehicles and memorabilia for photo ops in the main area and they have their own merch and members' club as well. There's a driving simulator, lots of spaces for vendors to post up and sell their wares, a garage with lots of fancy cars in the back, a cozy lounge area with empanadas and alcohol being sold, and of course you can get coffee here too. Since there was a line due to the event, it almost went out the door and took awhile to get our drinks despite the multiple baristas working. Probably just fine on a normal day though. Parking was limited but we managed to score street parking. I got a London Fog Latte and it was super bland and watered down despite making no adjustments to it. So I guess you yourself have to add sugar and syrup. I'd had better at Starbucks and even Gong Cha for god sake's so as an actual coffee place it's pretty mid. Motoring Coffee's LA location has been on my husband's list for the longest time so when an opportunity opened up to go to LA, well.. is it a surprise that we went here? For starters, they have some parking spots available for their business and then street parking all around. We can on a Friday morning and didn't struggle with parking. This location is also significantly bigger than their SF location, although most of the space is reserved for their club members. As a regular person on a random visit, I still found that there's ample seating around the cafe and their bathroom was clean. The merch was fun to look through, and the lavender drink I got was decent. Overall, if you're here it'll probably be for the aesthetic so don't expect out of this world coffee. read more

Finally checked out this super hyped up cafe, but unfortunately, I won't be RACING over here anytime soon :/ Let's start with the concept - I love how the cafe is inside a car club, which is perfect for a vintage or sports car enthusiast. However, most of their cars are displayed to club members only, and you can only see them from a distance through snake plant dividers. The rest of the cafe is accessible to the general public, and includes a barista bar, limited seating area, and a clothing/merchandise display. As for the drinks, my sister tried their signature matcha + butterfly pea drink, while I had their seasonal yuzu Hojicha drink. We both found the Hojicha and matcha on the lower quality and diluted end, although the yuzu cream top was quite fragrant and authentic. While their coffee might be better than their matcha and Hojicha offerings, the limited parking situation (you will likely have to street park since members of the car club physically stand in the spaces out front to reserve for their friends), mediocre drinks and limited seating area doesn't make it my favorite cafe to stop by in the West LA area. read more

If awards were being given for the most ingenious coffee house concept this would be it! I have been around this area a long time and have never checked it out until this morning! I'm so glad I did. First of all my vanilla latte was the best I've ever had. The huge warehouse loft like space is curated with incredible cars and memorabilia. Trust me the place is HUGE. They have many groupings with sofa chairs and tables. Behind walls of plants and trees is, it was explained to me, a members only club ala we work concept. For 150 you have your own quiet private office retreat. I'm seriously considering it! The place even has its own merch and the coolest gift cards ever. My first impression of Motoring Coffee was the scent of tire rubber because I literally walked into a car garage. You'll find classic cars and motorcycles, but most of them will be in an area where you'll need access by having a membership. Luckily I came for a barista throwdown in collaboration with Fellow, Koatji (plant based milk, oat and rice) and Motoring Coffee. During this event, those in attendance and guests were able to walk through the garage, which is usually closed off to the general public unless you're a member. I tried their iced vanilla latte and it was refreshing and solid. I know, so basic! I'm not much of a vanilla latte guy but they make their vanilla syrup in house. Their banana bread was also solid. Not worth it! The concept is "cool" but you can't even do anything. The seating area is so small with one bathroom. It's like $150 a month to be a "member" and see the cars plus a $500 initiation fee. No day passes or anything. The coffee wasn't good.. it was all super plain. I thought the concept of this was really cool And checked it out with a friend who's an avid car enthusiast. The set up of the place was cool with a very motor car/ automobile type of vibe with lots of cars on display, in paintings and even some more in the back where "members only" can hang out for ($150/ month) after initiation fee. I asked about a day pay but they didn't offer that option which I would've opted for. As for the coffee choices, a bit disappointed because online, there seemed to be cool foodie type of drinks like one called "burnt rubber" or cold foam or even pink/ yellow drinks but when I got up to The counter, I didn't see anything like that. Just regular, basic coffee options. I even asked the barista which was a cool sweet drink and he said the "mocha" and couldn't think of anything else so I just went with a matcha latter with Madagascar vanilla syrup. It was good but kinda bummed our cups didn't have the motor coffee logo like others have posted. Overall 3/5 with pros being cool concept, locations, things to see and even places to take pics outside for car people but cons being not worth it for foodies or people trying to just hangout. The shop itself is very cute and the aesthetics are great. It's clearly a well-designed space and somewhere I'd normally enjoy spending time. Unfortunately, the coffee was a huge miss for me. I ordered a double espresso over ice and ended up dumping it out after one sip. It was extremely sour and tasted like the espresso wasn't dialed in properly. Maybe I caught them on an off day, but it was honestly one of the worst espresso drinks I've had in a while. The weekend usually doesn't take too long for our drinks to be made. There's plenty of books to chat w friends. The gift shop is superrrrrr cute. Motoring coffee introduced me to hojicha for their October monthly drink. Obsessed ever since. This month I tried their blueberry matcha which was a fun sweet treat. The drink had the perfect temperature where I didn't have to blow on it to sip. We enjoyed the decorated firetruck, metallic green buggy and Santa in the desk truck. Very cool and hip coffee shop in a car like showroom. Very nice decor and a few vehicles on display. It's a large place but you don't have access to where most of the vehicles are located. I believe this place can be rented out for events, but otherwise it's closed off to general public. Besides their coffee counter, there a sit down area where a lot of people were using for doing their work ( laptops). We got a London Fog and it was good. Price is on the lower side compared to other coffee places, but the drink itself is on the smaller side. If you're in the area, it's worth a stop to get a drink/snack and check out the atmosphere, but I wouldn't necessarily make a trip just to visit the place. Came here on a recommendation. The decor is really cool with a lot of cars and some bikes. Unfortunately, there's limited access - apparently you need to be a member to enjoy a large part of the facility. So that was a bit of a letdown. There's still a cool little area for people to sit and work or hang out and this was full on a late Saturday afternoon. The guy at the counter was pretty chill and quick with the service, so no complaints. Ordered a London Fog and was underwhelmed at the quality and taste, especially considering the cost and the small size. I know things tend to be pricier on the west side, but still. Like another review said, maybe I came on an off day for tea? Maybe coffee is the strength here. If I'm in the area again, I might give it another go, but there are lots of other places to check out, so we'll see. read more

We drove from OC to experience a car and coffee cafe bc my hubby is a car fanatic and the Anaheim car and coffee cafe closed down. it's a nice coffee shop with creative seating arrangements but the free public seating area is limited and can get filled up fast. The drinks are not bad, pretty average, and not overly sweet so I appreciate that. There is lots of seating and tables for members only next to the nicer cars but not open to the public. We learned the membership is quite pricey and they don't have day passes. So overall looks like an exclusive place not made easy for visitors. read more

This place is pretty awesome for studying if you can find a seat. It gets busy, but the Wi-Fi and vibes are great. There's also a separate area for motoring club members, but you have to pay a monthly fee for that. The espresso is super smooth--my Americano tasted great just black. I also tried an iced latte with half sweet toasted black sesame syrup. It reminded me of hazelnut syrup but even better. Definitely give this place a try if you like good coffee. read more

Cool spot! We are car people and actually used to be a member of the motoring club back in the beginning when they were in MDR. Happy to see this more coffee shop focused spot they have created. I am a matcha drinker and I really appreciate they have unique options on their menu. I loved the blue and green matcha I ordered. As others have said, if you aren't a member- most of the space is off limits so it's not like you can go all around and see the cars on display. But that's not why we come here so I don't mind. Theming on 10!!!! My friend and I randomly found Motoring Coffee (thanks, yelp!) while in the area. It's gotta be the coolest coffee shop in Sawtelle! If you are into cars like me...or even if you're not!, this coffee shop will surely make you oooo~ and aaaah~ a bit. It seems like a huge, very chill shop, however I took my drink and ran. Coffee was actually so ass. Like shockingly bad. We ordered a vanilla latte with oat milk and a cold brew with half and half. Both were sour in different ways. Cold brew tasted... off. Neither of us finished our drinks. Did not love the energy of the staff there either. Very... standoffish/off putting. Also, spelled my name in the most interesting way possible. The only reason they're getting 2 stars and not 1 is because the space is cool, literally because the AC is blasting and because they have a nice collection of cars inside. Tons of people working inside, so the wifi must be decent. The majority of the space is blocked off for "members only" not sure how strict that is, we didn't bother asking because we just wanted to leave, but would be curious if you're able to hang out in that area if you're just a visitor. I was looking for a different spot to do some work, and this was not the spot! The lavender latte was ok. It was my first time trying a lavender matcha latte, and it was an experience. The lavender was a bit strong for me, but the latte was at a nice temperature for me to sip on. The service was good and the staff is helpful. They call out your name, so make sure you are listening out while looking at the items inside. The menu is simple and easy to order. Due to the membership aspect, seating is limited to a cool lobby setup. You can check out the merch corner, there were some decent things. You have to get there early if u want a "desk" type space. I could not locate outlets, and not sure about the membership area. I would hope they have plenty of outlets in that area for the price of that membership. I personally do not see the point of the membership, but do like the concept of the coffee shop. I feel you get a better deal going to the Petersen Museum to look at a vast collection of cars. read more

Came for Sunday book club and what a unique little spot! So fun to see the cars inside the venue, and there is decent amount of seating. Definitely more of a chatting coffee shop than a reading spot.
