Been going to GoodVets since I moved to Chicago ~2 years ago. I won't go so far as to say I like taking my dog to the vet, but I will say they make it a lot less painful than other vets we've used. That isn't to say it's less expensive. Like most vets, they're pretty pricy, but they have a monthly pet wellness plan that actually helps quite a bit. Especially with routine care. It covers 2 teeth cleanings every year, and just one of those on its own would cost more than the plan for a year. It also includes all of the vaccinations he needs, waives office visit fees, and gives discounts on a lot of other things. Between the routine care and my dog's heart murmur, the wellness plan saved me literally over $2000 last year. I have really appreciated that it's something they offer, and I can't imagine going to a vet that doesn't have something similar. Also, the front desk staff are always very friendly and helpful, it's never too busy, and always clean. I also appreciate that they've never been late to start one of my appointments. I would definitely recommend them if you're looking for a new vet.

Thank you goodvets / Dr. Flanagan for the wonderful experience today! I just recently moved to Chicago a few months ago from Texas and have not had a chance establish care at a clinic just yet for my dog, Tucker. Tucker hurt himself over the weekend and his symptoms were similar to what I experienced in the past in Texas. Since I had not established care at a clinic I was worried that we would have to go to the ER and wait hours to get Tucker some simple pain relief. This would have been a waste of the ERs time and my time. I called goodvets this morning and Dr. Flanagan was able to squeeze Tucker in today, confirmed my suspicions were correct that his injury was similar to what we experienced before and gave him some pain relief. I am very thankful for goodvets taking Tucker in on short notice despite not having established care at the clinic. In addition, the clinic was beautiful and modern. The rest of the staff was punctual and super friendly. Tucker and I will be back for all future visits at the clinic! I will also be taking our cat soon to establish care. Thank you again!!

We moved to the area and needed a new vet. They have taken care of him every visit. He isn't stressed out to go in. The receptionists/vets are all nice. I got him neutered here, and they answered all my questions and gave me a tally of the total before the procedure. Everything went well. He was jumping around the next day. He wasn't showing signs of discomfort, and the incision is healing nicely. Thank you so much for taking care of my dog.

When I first moved into my building across the street, I met the staff because they came over to introduce themselves to my very pet friendly building. They gave me stuff for my friend who was a new cat mommy and left a good impression. When I suddenly (and so luckily!) had an English bulldog rescue approved, I immediately signed him up for their unlimited monthly care plan. He gets all the visits he needs, flea and tick meds, labs, etc etc for less than $100 a month. They're so close to me that I'd have tried them out even if they weren't an impressive start up with nothing but glowing reviews. Most of the people in my building seem to go there. When they had to close early one day and I wasn't alerted to my appointment being moved to an e-consult, it was frustrating but the dr still called me to ease my anxiety and explain everything to me. They told me to stop In anytime the next day to pick up the needed meds and have his salt burned paws looking at. The vets have been great about emailing me after labs and in response to questions about them and giving me referrals I asked for. It's not easy finding a new vet in a new city but I lucked out that they literally came to me. I believe the first consult is free for anyone. I don't think they have the wellness plans for cats but they seem to go the most conservative routes possible. They aren't there to drive you into anxiety or guilt induced debt.

I was thrilled that Howlistic Grooming had availability and had such stellar reviews. With the large number of dogs in the area, it's a relief knowing we can book here less than a month in advance. I said yes and confidently left, expecting consistency with the previous groom. Unfortunately, that was not the case at all. They cut my dog's hair extremely low and completely ignored the previous grooming guidelines. When I expressed my concerns, the groomer responded by saying When I expressed my concerns, the groomer responded by saying she had "shaved his nails for free," which she said is normally a $10 add-on. I explained that it still didn't address the issue at hand and that it should have either been communicated or charged properly as an add-on if that was the case, because it didn't resolve my concern about the haircut. I was told there was "nothing they could do" and that "for future reference" I should bring a photo. I didn't think a photo was necessary for a repeat appointment when the staff made it seem like they already understood what was expected based on his last service. The manager called the next day, listened to everything that happened, and ultimately only reiterated that they do not offer refunds or discounts. No apology, no empathy, and no accountability for the poor experience. The only response I kept hearing was "for future reference." To make matters worse, my dog's ears were cut so short that he barely even looks like he has ears anymore. The haircut looks nothing like the previous groom, and it's honestly upsetting to look at. Since the appointment, he hasn't even seemed like his usual energetic self. I trusted this salon to care for him properly, and instead I left feeling dismissed and deeply disappointed. A total waste of $80 and a tip. PHOTOS BELOW: As you can see in the attached photos, his beautiful black coat was shaved down entirely too close, leaving his face and ears completely bare.

One of the true pleasures of living in a big city it to discover treasures in the most unexpected of places. Who would think that dog grooming would be one such place but I consider CleanDog to be a treasure in Chicago. John brings a rare combination of pride or work and some kind of genius for dog grooming that is ineffable; he just has a feel and an incredible talent for working with dogs. What brought me in the door for our Maltipoo Bailey is that I was looking for someone who would not immediately resort to shears to deal with some matting (admittedly, we had let Bailey go and she was very matted). I know that taking her to our prior groomer would result in her coming home shivering and looking like a short-haired chihuahua. Reading the reviews here led us to CleanDog. In short, John did not disappoint. He is so kind and helpful and went the extra mile (and then another extra mile and then another after that). As others have experienced, we could not believe how wonderful she looked. In fact, it was the best she has ever looked, hands down. John patiently brushed her out, gave her a much needed bath, and then working his own unique magic, brought out the scissors and turned her into a show dog. I can't imagine taking her for grooming anywhere else in Chicago.
