This is a late review.... I live in the area and was happy to find a grooming shop nearby. I was able to bring my blue healer here for a bath. I dropped her off and was called 40minutes later stating that they were done but was unable to clip here finger nails because she was frightened. It was understandable. I picked her up and grabbed her in a rush due to me being on break for work. Once I got home, I realised that they actually cut her nails and lied because they hurt her. I noticed there was dried blood on her paws. I will not be returning and would not recommend their services. The workers could of been honest; I understand that mistakes happen but they should of owned up to it. read more

They did such an amazing job on my puppy!! I have taken my puppy to another place and they didn't do as great of a job as The Puppy Shop did. My dog looks like a little stuffed animal. The photos don't do their work justice, my puppy tends to move a lot. They got me in on short notice which I also really appreciate because my dog needed a haircut ASAP. read more

I cannot stress this enough, please support this man!!!! If he takes a long time it's a small business he is grooming damn near all the dogs in Berwyn/Cicero and surrounding areas! He charges a great price and does a great job! He deserves nothing but good reviews. Every time I try to trim my dogs nails it's a hassle I couldn't imagine doing multiple dogs a day! Please remember you are supporting a small business every time you come here! Not pet-smart or the pet supply store! My dog always comes home so happy after every groom, I've even brought my yorkies here now! A hidden gem in Berwyn for all pet owners! I don't bring my senior dog just for the reason of comfort. Love, love, love this groomer! This is the only place my VERY difficult little dog will half behave long enough to get a bath and trim. They always do a wonderful job with her: her hair is always cut properly, her nails are nice and short, she smell GREAT when she comes back, and they always give her a cute little bandana. They always have bath specials, they have holiday specials, and are always available for a full service appointment. You can even book the appointment through Facebook messenger! And they'll actually respond and confirm your appointment! I will say it can get pretty busy, especially if they have a special going on but they're usually pretty efficient. I've told many of my family and friends about their great services and they have positive reviews as well. I have nothing bad to say; they truly care about your pets! read more

I literally cannot say enough good things about this groomer. I took my dog here for 4-5 years straight and never once had a bad experience. They always cut to my specifications and they even had pictures of the shortness of the fur from previous cuts so that there was never any miscommunication about what length I wanted. I never had to wait longer than 2.5 hours to come get my dog - any other groomer and you're looking at anywhere from 3-5 hour wait. I would drop him off at 8 and guaranteed he'd be home by 10:30, every time. Sometimes earlier! I remember one time it only took them 1.5 hours. Their prices are so reasonable. So many other salons they have add on prices for basic things like face trim and nail trim when that should be just part of the grooming package! With the puppy shop it is all included like it should be, and for my small toy poodle it was $40 every time. Never any big price jumps a few years in. Prices stayed the same and reasonable. I just want everyone to go here and support them as I'm very sad that I moved away to another state and had to find a new groomer that's as good as them. I'm not having much luck, and certainly not at these prices. read more

New to Berwyn we were looking for a good groomer for our two Chihuahuas. We took 10 y/o Winston in today. He's a bit fragile so we were delighted when he came out clean f& fresh. Went here for the first time with newly adopted 7 year old rescue. I don't think he had ever been groomed before because he came in to the rescue as a stray. They were so patient and kind with him and put me at ease when I was stressed at how he would do. He was in and out in an hour, and they took me when I was running 10 minutes late for my appointment. I called them up for an Appointment and they squeezed me in the same day. The grooming of my dog was a competitive price. Very affordable and he looked good. These guys seem pretty good. I think I found my new grooming spot. The wife and kids were all happy with my dogs new trim. read more

If my pup needs a shower, then yeah I'll probably take him here again if I have no time. Grooming is a no unless you want your dog shaved down. The first thing I told them "don't use the machine, only scissors on his face" and that's the first thing that went out their ear. Nice dudes, but not vigilant or careful. Also, if you work with dogs a lot, shouldn't you know how to ease/handle/work with a pup that cries a lot in a cage (we don't cage the pup at home). I don't know. I guess that's just me. For the price (35$ for a small dog) this place is the best place in the area to go, they are always nice & do a great job washing & cutting my dogs fur, its better to make an appointment so the dog doesn't have to be there all day, on Saturdays & Fridays it can take awhile so be prepared. read more

We took our large lab/mastiff mix in for a full grooming. He looked great, was very happy, and you can't beat the price. I have been charged in the past $75 for a teeth cleaning alone, and it was included in the $45 full grooming package. The man I spoke to about bringing Payton in was pretty busy (it was Thanksgiving week), but very friendly and willing to take him in short notice. My Chug has been here a handful of times to get his nails trimmed of take advantage of the bath special. I usually bathe him at home but he needs something extra I take him to the Puppy Shop. I have been going to this place for almost 5 years and never have I been mistreated like this anywhere else. I'm officially done with this place. I walked in, had no appointment, and they took my pooch in. This was about 11:30a and about a half hour later I had to leave the city due to a family emergency. Now you're thinking what has this got to do with your rating? I was called few hours later that my pooch was ready and I informed the guy that I would be there as soon as I can that I'm out of the area. He got a bit upset saying he would like to close by 3pm. I informed him that I'll try my best and if anything I will find a friend/family to pick my pooch up. Several calls later from the guy and he became irate each time for the worst reasons. He ranted saying he will only stay so long after closing, he had waited too much before because as he said "customers made me wait long after", and I must get there or leave him overnight and that he's not playing. Last call I received from him he practically yelled at me. Thankfully, I got my niece to pick my dog up and she got there before 3pm. Here's the icing on the cake. The grooming was $40 and the guy took it upon himself to charge her an additional fee. He then proceeded to tell her that I lied to him, he would report us, and that he doesn't want to see us anymore. Fine. His kind of behavior is unacceptable and I do wish for the best for his paying customers to never have to come across this type of situation, ever. read more

Never again am I going here! The owner was extremely rude. I had an appointment at 10:30, I was there on time and the shop was closed. Of all days I left my phone at home so I had to come back and call to see what was going on. The "owner" picks up and says "oh we're still closed", ok? but I had an appointment and he responds, I had a flat tire and I live all the way in Indiana. So I tell him "how is that my problem? I had an appointment and I was standing outside your shop". He basically told me too bad, so sad and didn't hesitate to tell me to take my business elsewhere! What type of service is that? How am I supposed to know that he had a flat tire, let alone live in Indiana and we're in Berwyn. There should be a backup plan, like more employees? Hmmmm, not very business saavy. Never AGAIN!!!!! How can you call yourself a groomer if you only offer a size medium shave on dogs or no shave at all? I wanted my yorkie trimmed all over and I was told they only use the medium clipper now which would leave him with a shaved look, or they can just clean up his feet, face, and private areas. I've never in my life had a groomer tell me this. If you are a TRUE groomer you should be able to cut and groom a dog to however the owner would like. I will never return to this place or recommend them to anyone!!! read more

I created a yelp account just to give them a review. I LOVE this place! I moved all the way north and still make the 35 min trip to The Puppy Shop. You can not find a better groomer for this price in Chicago. Sometimes, I'm in a pinch and really need my Maltipoo groomed so I call them first. Most days they will accept my last minute request, it's super rare that the big guy at the front turns me away. Also, if they are ever in the wrong, they take fault. I was told I would be called by 3PM to pick my dog up, they called 10 minutes to 5 (they had a lot of dogs that day) and that caused me to hit traffic. I know they have a policy that charges for late pick-up but we discussed my distance beforehand. The guy on the phone let me know not to worry speeding over there just be safe and get there. I would never spend my grooming money anywhere else! Not only is the price sensible but you get great customer service. read more

This review is in response to the owner's response on Monica's post. You are right on one thing, she didn't drop our dog off. I'm her husband & I dropped our dog off. I asked for the "westie cut", not a shaved stripe practically down to his skin on his back. In response to you saying our dog has an "aggressive temper", we have plenty of kids in the family that our dog is great with! When we take him for walks, he's very tame to the neighborhood kids who want to pet him. & you say that she was yelling at you to force our dog?? You never called us to inform us of this even IF it did happen! & lastly, you were NOT open at 10 on the dot as you claim. As a matter of fact, I was rushing because we said we would drop him off at 10 & I was running about 10 minutes behind. You didn't pull up until another 5 minutes after that (approx 10:15am). There was another female customer waiting outside the door along with myself & a gentleman came by & told us you are always running late. No need to respond to this with more lies, we will never bring our pets here again & will encourage anyone we know to not patronize your business as well. read more
