Definitely come here while planning on bringing in some gloves and a wagon/heavy duty reusable bag because the carts disappear in seconds of opening and stuff is dusty/dirty. There are blue bins galore here and you have to be the type of person who has the patience to look and doesn't mind spending the time digging through/sorting through a pile of almost nothing. And mismatched items. You will barely ever find the pair to match shoes up- singles in so many bins where do the others go?!? But wow did I find some great finds here! I'm happy with the purchases I made. They don't price each item out, but weigh them out in an empty cart on a scale connected to the register. Whomever ran this store into the ground should be embarrassed. I'm assuming it is the CEO central Texas good will, so he can maintain a 7 figure salary while working at a "non profit ". The rotation times have double at this store , so expect to wait up to 2 hours. The majority of that wait time is because the workers are trained to pick out a thing that has a value over $1 USD. Which are to be sold on their auction site. They have to make sure the ceo can maintain that hefty salary . when you do get to see a new rotation the bins are BARREN and full of broken glass, Christmas trees and miscellaneous metal parts. The decline of this store has been so steep, one could assume that it's being operated by none other than DJT. Who else could turn a great outlet store into a world class dumpster fire? read more

Good gosh, good golly, Goodwill! This Goodwill isn't like any other thrift shop I've ever been to. This place is a whole other take on shopping, unlike any other experience I've had. I'm a bit horrified. This place is like playing Hungry Hungry Hungry Hippos, but with clothing and used merchandise. Employees bring out large bins full of clothes, appliances, shoes, whatever, and eager shoppers elbow their way in to get the first dibs on whatever is contained therein. They pick through the merchandise with a feverish pace, rapidly holding up item after item to eyeball the items for faults, and potential reasons why it's so cheap. Don't see any price tags? No worries. They don't charge by the item. They charge by the pound. It's a cheap place to get lightweight clothes, I suppose. I wouldn't buy a flack jacket this way. It seems so disorganized. Pairs of shoes seem to be instantly separated when people eyeball one of them to see the size, and then toss the shoe in a different bin. Appliances seem to be separated quickly from their accessories. People go bonkers for items on blue hangers, which indicates a super sale on that. You'll need one of those flack jackets if you step outta line to get one. I didn't find anything I needed. read more

I don't like this Goodwill location. While I understand the appeal as your items weighed rather than priced, so you can get a deal, I never find anything here. It's stressful as a bunch of people are deal hunting themselves and will basically push you aside to grab something. I have been here a handful of times and have never walked out with anything. Goodwill is anywhere between okay and awful. At least they started organizing the clothing by size instead of by color. You can find some good things there but apparently some of their employees are extremely irrational and rude. One time when my daughters and I were looking for some overalls to do painting in, we asked the worker there if they had overalls since we could not find any. But instead of helping us, the two ladies there demanded we open our bags so they could search us! After we let them search our bags, one of the ladies looked over to the change rooms, terrified apparently and ran off. Neither one of the ladies apologized. My 12 year old daughter was traumatized by this incident and I have thought of writing to them to tell them they abused my daughter, but I figured they would either deny the incident or defend it, which would have made me even angrier. This happened in late 2019 at the Goodwill on the 130 toll road access in Pflugerville and the woman who accosted us was a red haired lady while the woman who accused and searched us was African American. I have not been back to that store since because I don't want to get angry and be abusive to them the way they abused my child in front of me and her sister. :( Anyway watch the heck out or they might call the cops on you just for literally browsing. read more

Maybe I didn't see what others saw in this particular Goodwill. Granted, the set up is very different than your traditional Goodwill store - with the layout and the plan of attack. And you had better have a plan of attack, otherwise, you'll get trampled on by all the other folks that scramble here for the deals. I watched the process for about an hour - seriously because it took awhile for it to sink in and realize what was going on. Even when a very nice employee explained it all for me - make that TWO employees. I finally decided to get in where I fit in and I as I stood in line and waited for the sign that the aisles were ready, I regretted it. I smelled sanitizer everywhere, saw many different gloves being worn (ranging from nitrile to industrial work gloves) and even saw one lady who used a kids' toy claw to rummage through the bins. I could not get over how the stampede worked once you were in! read more

Wowwww....where to start! This an interesting experience. You definitely have to be the type who likes to dig. If you do not have patience or like everything to be organized Blue Hanger is NOT for you. I have tried to visit at very random dates and times never on the weekend. It is always busy. Wear gloves and bring a reusable shopping bag. There are rows and rows of blue bins filled with anything and everything. Books and glass are priced by the number of items. Everything else is priced per pound. You basically walk around and dig through the bins to find treasures. Sometimes I have found neat stuff and other times I don't have much luck. There is usually a crowd of people waiting to rush the newest bin that is rolled out. I am not into this so I hang back until the rush is over and then take a look. In the time of Covid everyone is wearing a mask, you just have to be careful not to become enveloped in the rush of the crowd. read more

Mind completely blown. I found cute clothes but I also found the pull out couch of my dreams with never slept on mattress and adorable hipster love seat that's too cute and comfy for words. The staff was organized and helpful and stylish working together seamlessly to help get my heavy pull out couch and little love seat situated. Thank you Goldie for facilitating fabulousness, Richard snd Jesse and Steve for lifting musclepower, and Vernon for being an artist (see picture) and letting me know what was up with times for picking up furniture ... I saved thousands and feel stoked af about my new purchases, also I learned that Goodwill is expanding its reach as far as helping the underserved go-mental health, people in need of support and education, more resources for farther reaching areas of help for people. On any given day, there are resellers lining the concrete waiting for the next set of items to reach the sales floor. You must play by Blue Hangers rule. A swift pace and keen eye will get you far. This place would rather not have any customers who are there to just buy things for personal use but prioritize these resellers making a great living off your donations. A huge thing they just clearly let people do is scoop huge amounts of clothes or just grab things randomly with huge arm piles. They throw it on the ground and now it all belongs to them and they yell at and try to fight you if you look at anything they've claimed. Isnt this against the rules? Why do grown men get to grab a pile of women's clothing and yell at them when and physically touch them without getting suspended or banned? Saw a woman get her boob grabbed and they asked her do you want us to kick him out or give him a warning? This should tell you everything about how the staff handles enforcing the rules. read more

Love is illusory. I have found so many abandoned Teddy Bears at this place. Where do they come from? The arms of crying toddlers? The desert? Are these Bears war criminals? Why do they wheel the bins away as I am still rooting through them to rescue Teddy Bears. RUDE. I operate a Teddy Bear Orphanage and my goal is to save as many of these unfortunate creatures as possible. The Blue Hangar is the last resort for so many Rescue Teddies. I was also able to find some great clothing for my being. I need to project an image of success to adopt these Bears out. I will return here. I will not give up. Watch your cart. People will steal your Teddy Bears directly from your cart to use in Teddy Bear fighting rings. You have to get to Blue Hangar right as they open. Lying down in the bins and covering yourself in clothing may get you "backstage" at The Blue Hangar but there is a price to be paid. It is not worth it. Trust me. Hurry, quick--I think I need an iv filled with sanitizer, STAT! Being a bargain shopper, an avid thrift-store fan, and a huge fan of scouring what Goodwill has to offer, I am not 'above it,' to get my hands a little dirty or browse through a few grungy items to find something of interest; but after scouring through this store I felt as though I needed a shower. After reading such raving reviews and after a recommendation from my girlfriend I decided I needed to check this place out. However, I think the reviewers and my girlfriend both forgot to advise me to bring supplies i.e., a mask, gloves, eh...Lysol for instance; I didn't know I was going dumpster diving. My first impulse upon entering the building was to immediately leave, the layout itself was 'interesting,' to say none-the-least, but I don't like to knock things before I have at least tried them once or twice, therefore I neglected my urgency to get the heck out of dodge and I began browsing. Explaining this store to someone who has never been is a little difficult, but imagine an empty warehouse filled with about 100+ large blue bins piled high with items. Most items are priced by the pound around $1.39/lb, books generally are $1.39 flat and some of the furniture items were priced quiet lowerer than the general 'Goodwill,' rate. Never the less, the pictures dipicted better than my explanation I'm sure. I honestly felt like I was rummaging through someone's garbage, randomly placed items: a well worn shoe here or there, a tent without poles, monopoly without money, a hanger here or there, you should get my drift. The sections were labeled accordingly: books, houseware items, clothing; although I think they forgot to have a large bold sign noted, 'BLACK FRIDAY SALE, STAMPEDE PREDICTED.' As I was browsing the cluster of items I noticed a large gathering of customers near the bins, some fanning themselves impatiently waiting for something (at that point I had no clue what they were awaiting). All of the sudden you hear people shuffling to the bins, ransacking the selection, filling up their baskets as if it was FREE. I kept waiting for an announcement to be made: AVOID ISLES 3-5, ATTACK IMMINENT,' but no such announcement occured. I will note I did not take the time to browse through the clothing selections, however there were piles upon piles stacked high of items which apparently were the hot ticket in the store, considering there were customers with two or more baskets filled with clothes. All things aside, I doubt I'll be back, not my cup of tea; more power to you if you trek the beyond that is the 'Blue Hanger store.' read more

With their basic pricing system laid out on big signs hanging from the ceiling and haphazardly strewn merchandise, you'll get dirty, you'll probably get sweaty, you'll probably wear yourself out, but you'll walk away with at least one bag full of goodies for $10 or less. One star off for the ridiculousness of the junk section, because really, that's all it can be called. For example, pieces of board games are spread out over the entire store, reduced to nothing more than recycled art supplies. But I'm sure if you have the will, you'll find something you want. At the Goodwill Outlet Store in Austin, you have to wait behind a rope while they fill the bins. After they remove the barricades, it's a free for all that would rival Black Friday. This happens about 20 times throughout the day. Stand back, or you will get pushed out of the way over a few dirty toys. Most of the people there weren't looking for the same things I was searching for, so I found plenty of treasures. It's a lot of lower income people just trying to get some clothes and toys for their family, who can blame them. Wear gloves, finding wet or dirty items is not uncommon. The people who complain don't complain about the store but the customers who the employees do their best to control. There are stupid people who go here but they are quickly reprimanded and employees are diligent when considering others safety and do their best to remain friendly as well. This isn't bergdorf Goodmans but I come here several times a week and never have seen things "snatched" from elderly woman or even a single fight. If I were to rate this place on value alone this place would get 5 stars. However the trade off is that the shopping experience leaves a lot to be desired. Other reviews here describe the mechanics fairly accurately. I want to draw attention to things that should be fixed. 1) First a not so pleasant tone is set in getting a shopping cart. As others have pointed out if you do not arrive early and compete with the crush of 100 people vying for a cart you are unlikely to get a cart as 80% of the carts are held onto for the rest of the day. I am amazed that there are not more injuries in this rush. The solution Is simple: for over 3 years I have pressed management to buy more shopping carts. The response has always been one of indifference. Considering that they are selling all donated merchandise the profit margin is huge. If you a casual shopper coming in during the day you are left to bringing your own totes. 2) STAFF: This varies widely. I have experienced very considerate and indifferent staff and managers in equal numbers. Unlike other retail this is NOT a customer centered experienc. The vibe is more like "You are lucky we allow you to shop and get great prices so we do not have to be courteous to you." This is a shame because management could do so much to create a more pleasant experience. Mind you I have experienced exceptional service and courtesy with individual staff but that tends to be the exception. While not overtly rude it is more an atmosphere of indifference. I continue to shop here because the value is too good for me as a reseller. However the experience is rarely pleasant and I feel like I have to take a shower every time I get home. Pity they don't take the easy steps that would improve the shopping experience for all. read more

Well this was my first time ever going to a Goodwill outlet and the closest thing I can reference to it is the garage sales my mom would have growing up, but on a much larger scale. My mom would save up bags and bags of clothes and then dump them out in the driveway on a blanket when we had garage sales. The Goodwill Outlet felt a lot like the Saturdays I would help my mom at our garage sales lol. I feel like you definitely have to be in the mood to go here because all you do is dig. There are the huge blue bins on wheels throughout the entire store full clothes, household items, shoes and books. It is somewhat organized in the store and everything is $1.49/lb. which is crazy cheap. There is a lot of junk, but definitely some treasures if you are into the hunt. Most of the clothes we saw had regular goodwill tags on them ranging from $2-13 or so. My friend bought 11.5 lbs of stuff and paid less than $20! She found a dress that was from Anthropology and in great condition. It was probably originally around $100 for the dress new - treasure for sure! Don't be surprised to see tons of people in here. The staff in is constantly changing out the bins and bringing out new stuff. They have rules like you can't touch the row until all the bins for the row are out. People line up and wait until the crew says go and then they speed walk to the bin they are looking to dig through. If you've never been here I would at least recommend stopping in here to check it out even if it is just for the experience. read more

I love this place. I am here twice a week and it's my favorite thing in the whole darn world! But where has Danny gone? She was my absolute favorite, always with a smile and happy to check me out. The new staff seem less happy with their jobs. I don't know... maybe no one can be as amazing as Danny was. This place is my kryptonite. Nasty bins, pushy people, rude employees...yet I come back at least once a week! I have found so much good stuff here in the past 6 years of coming here, I'd estimate at LEAST half of my wardrobe (and my kids') came from this place. Show up early to ensure you get a parking spot and a basket. Everything you knew about cleanliness and sanitation, throw it out the window. You will be elbow-deep in bins full of clothes, trash, household items, shoes, glass, mysteriously wet items, etc. but you will find treasures if you look hard enough. The customers you shop with are usually pushy and have absolutely no sense of personal space, but they usually won't confront you if you big body them out of the way. The employees are so sketchy. Some are nice, but most must hate their jobs. I can appreciate people working and holding a job, but there is absolutely no customer service here. HOWEVER, I can't stay away from this place. What people do is just sit in chairs waiting for new bins to come out and then just randomly grab armfuls of clothes and then sort through it later to see what they want. My original rating was five stars because for years I loved going here even though it's not for the faint of heart. But in the last two years it's gone downhill and it's quite scary. I'm not sure who manages the store but it's gotten very violent and people are out of control. My friends and I who used to go know for sure someone's gonna get seriously injured there. The management doesn't seem to care and the workers, who are they? The fights I've seen break out there, the time I saw an old lady get pushed down and hurt, the list goes on and on. Often I like to stop in to "hunt for deals" at your local Goodwill/resale stores/outlets and quite unappealing to find so many of the "rejects or unusable" searches for anything that is truthfully "viable" to repurpose/reuse/recycle. To add to my disappointment, the lack of carts for anyone (other than the regular "cart hogs/pigeons") that always "stockpile" on anything/everything that even has a miniscule chance of resale. I have gone to these outlets over the years, yet this location is the most disappointing and alarming of such "greed and desperation" in its most un-masked state. Not one for the faint of heart or someone that even has a minor interest in just the search as any "thrifter" likes to seekout. Word to the wise--take comfortable shoes, your own tote and reliable/sturdy gloves if you really want just the experience of witnessing "human nature at its rawness".. I even witnessed an elderly woman having something snatched from her hands by someone least suspicious {and the item was just a simple Christmas wreath with a few small teddy bears"...very sad that they have no respect for the elderly and the workers just "oblivious" to lack of simple courtesy}. I did not actually shop for items here; I was only dropping off. But it's definitely important for potential customers to know this as well - I couldn't find a place outside marked as a drive-up donation drop off. So I parked and walked inside to ask someone if I could drop off. As soon as I walked in, a female employee at the cash registers greeted me and actually held eye contact with me for a sec so I could ask her my question. She walked over and told me she could take it herself if I just brought it in the safe entrance I had just came through and she would take it back herself so I wouldn't have to drive around. It was just one of those times when I was pleasantly surprised by customer service, even on a small level like this. Also, bc honestly I was wondering this after looking at the photos of all the blue bins filled with clothes at this location... but nope, I did not even notice any musty smell at all. And I have a very sensitive sense of smell. I could see myself coming back here to do some actual perusing when I'm in the mood. read more
