What a gem, what a gem, what a gem! On the hunt for tea cup sets for an upcoming tea party. Walked right in and hit the jackpot! The Davis location is a smaller Goodwill...small but mighty! The store was neat, everything in its proper section, employees bustling about helping customers and placing clothing and items in their right sections..just a lovely shopping experience. While I forgot her name I want to amplify the caliber of staff (everyone I engaged was friendly and kind, by the way). As I'm approaching check out there was an obnoxious costumer who waited NO TIME before beginning to continuously ring the bell for service. The same young lady who was at the first register who greeted me when I walked in was the same one who appeared at the register to help the impatient customer. When the customer left I asked the cashier was her behavior a norm at the store. She smiled and replied, "Sometimes, but it's ok." It's certainly not ok not what I appreciated was her emotional maturity and refusing to get mired down but someone who was unreasonably impatient and somewhat unkind. And never mind the designer shoes and other goodies at the store. I'll definitely be back! read more

I came here to donate items because I am moving out of Davis. Goodwill made the donation process fast and easy. Look for the "donate here" sign to the left of the primary Goodwill entrance/signage. Friendly staff have carts they push that they will bring up to your car. You can quickly load up all of your items into these carts. Goodwill takes most items other donation facilities will not. They do not allow makeup, cleaning items, etc. read more

CLEAN STORE! I love shopping at Goodwill. I go to Goodwill in every city I visit/live in. This one is hands down the CLEANEST Goodwill. It doesn't smell. There's no merchandise on the ground and each section is usually full! No empty shelves. They have purses, men's clothing, men's shoes, men's accessories, women's clothing, women's shoes, and purses. They have books for kids and adults. They have kitchen items, craft supplies, kids toys, games for kids and adults, holiday items etc. Love love LOVE to go here during Halloween. Amazing selection of costumes, masks, and accessories. This location has all the good games. If I see a game I want at Target I just wait until I see it at Goodwill. They get great donations here. BONUS: I see skateboards here all the time! Note: There's no furniture here, no chairs or no desks or anything of that nature so if you wanted that you'd have to visit an alternate store. read more

I have had great luck with this Goodwill in the past - I remember it being a godsend in my freshman year of college when I found myself unprepared for the heat or the cold. And I've probably bought more pairs of shoes from goodwill than anywhere else in town. Though recently, over the past year or so, it seems like I've hit a sort of dry spell for exciting thrift finds. There might be something I think is cute here and there but I very rarely left with anything. Though I will say, my most recent trip to Goodwill really blew me out of the water. Look at all my finds!! Even though I didn't leave with all of them (maybe I should go back for that dress...) it just goes to show that every visit to a thrift store like this one can be wildly different. Overall I love this goodwill; the store is clean, covid cautious, and always putting out new stuff. And I never have trouble getting help when I want to see something off the mannequin (which I often do, that's where they hide the good stuff). read more

In this age of COVID it was refreshing to have someone remove a few boxes from the bed of the truck without having to exit the truck. The man asked us if we wanted a receipt to which we replied no. The drop-off process was so simple- drive up to the front of the building and wait. An employee came up to the car and told us that he wouldn't take furniture. So he took the rest. Put the chairs out on my street with a FREE sign later and they were gone within the hour. But this place took everything else. read more

This Goodwill is decent. Clothing and hard goods tend to be reasonably priced, however the video games and items placed in the glass case up front are outrageously overpriced. Sometimes priced at double of what is being charged on eBay. Books, DVDs, CDs, and vinyl are also ridiculous, individually priced from $1-$50. Awful overpriced items. They charge literal retail prices here. For what reason?? I don't know... the items are low quality and the same inventory sits there for weeks. Gee, wonder why! They hardly ever run sales except for color tag sales on Sundays. Whoever manages this place needs to get it together. Went on labor day as there was a sale. I've been to a few Goodwills in other cities and every single one of them are way better than this place. From the outside, the place looks really big and nice. I mean, it did just open a few months ago. Inside, however, was smaller than All Things Right and Relevant and the SPCA Thrift Store. There are two sections in the store, one for clothing and the other for everything else. They have a really small selection for men, a decent selection for women, and a pretty small selection of everything else. The main reason why I'm giving this place 1 star is because the prices are extremely jacked up. I saw used WALMART mountain bike was being sold for $50... A new one probably costs $70. Some shirts were at least $3-7 more than the SPCA store. A pair of used shorts were being sold at $20, which was probably the original price to begin with. I'm extremely disappointed in this Goodwill and won't be coming back. read more

This location just opened, and as a self-proclaimed thriftaholic I'm proud to write the first review! I honestly could not have been more disappointed. I was so happy Davis was finally getting a Goodwill, and I even counted down the days to the grand opening. What an amateur; I should have known it would be an overpriced joke. First of all, the place is half the size of most Goodwills. It's small, cramped and broken up into two separate rooms - one "large" room for clothing/accessories and one smaller room with housewares. They have all of their clothing sorted by size, which is nice, but they added anti-theft tags to every piece of clothing which makes carrying items around and trying them on really annoying, and it's ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. I mean, seriously? An anti-theft tag on a used dress that was donated to the store for free? Ain't nobody got time for that. The prices. I just can't even. For these prices, I can go to Marshalls, Ross, or even Target - and that stuff hasn't been owned by God-knows-who. To give you an idea of how outrageous their prices are... I found a tote bag priced at $22, a pair of heels priced at $20, a sundress priced at $20 and a cardigan priced at $15. If I'm going to buy something that someone else's calluses have been in, at least give me the dignity of getting them cheap! The housewares section smelled like barf. Not sure what that's about but hopefully it was temporary and I don't get the stomach flu in the next 24 hours. I had to immediately leave that area because it was so rank, and I wasn't missing much - a couple of plates, an overpriced dinette set ($80 for a 3-pc set?!), and some beat up puzzles probably priced at $50 each. Annnnnd the icing on the cake - while walking around, I overheard two of the young employees talking about a cute piece of clothing they'd seen. One quietly told the other to go "put it in the back". Not going back until they realize they are selling donated, USED goods and start pricing their items fairly. They also need to stop hoarding things for themselves in the back and invest in some air fresheners. Yikes. read more

I go here because it's my neighborhood store, and I always find something good. Staff are friendly and plentiful (they'll call for help if the line gets long). They do a pretty good job of keeping it clean (bathroom included) and keeping fitting rooms cleared out. Clothes are usually where they belong, sorted by size. No key needed for fitting rooms. I can check this place out, then stop at Dollar Store and Grocery Outlet all at one stop! Also near a new laundromat, Chinese food and the international market. My only complaint is that this store's shoe selection has gone downhill (don't know the formula for which store gets what, maybe they moved down on the choice list). read more

Isn't it kinda weird how all the "ghetto" stores in Davis are all situated in one shopping center? I mean Grocery Outlet, Dollar Tree, Phil's Hydroponics, and now Goodwill are all situated in the same plaza and no other corporate discount stores exist anywhere else in Davis. It's like the Davis urban planners were like "welp, if these stores must exist, lets contain the ghettoness to one area, like an infection" Anyways back to the review. From the outside, this good will looks huuuuuge, and I was therefore stoked when first found out this would be it's location. However, when I walked in I was shocked to see that the store is maybe a little bigger that the Yolo county SPCA thrift store! This is a tiny goodwill! Well, size doesn't matter-- as long as you got the goods at a crazy low price, you can still be a successful Goodwlll. NOPE. like the previous reviewer said, prices are more comparable to a ROSS with a lot of the store being whole retail prices. *Earth to Goodwill* if we wanted to pay full price for stuff, we would go to the gazillion other retail stores in Davis-- we are here because we want like 10 t-shirts for like 2$. There's something special that needs to be said about this location. Yes the clothing can be expensive (usually it's in very good shape and good quality too) but i went in yesterday and this worker she was so sweet to the special needs workers and it made me very happy to see how well she worked with them, and gave them dignity and respect. I've seen workers (not at this location but other nearby second hand stores) treat the special needs population like they are garbage, nothings and yelled at them. So to see how much she respected them, I think it says so much. Would I come back? You bet. I wish I could say thank you to that lady and hug her, bc she gave so much of herself to these people who already have a tougher life, thank you for making them feel like they are a someone in this world read more

Came to the plaza looking for the party store and noticed this was there. Wandered in as part of my pre-Halloween hunting. Looks big from the exterior, but disappointing inside. I've been to several Goodwill stores in Sacramento (Arden, W Stockton, Franklin) which are much bigger, and pricing isn't as high. It felt cramped trying to get around the store, tried on a few things but didn't end up purchasing anything. The housewares section is also a tight squeeze and not organized very well. One thought that the prices might be a little higher than similar items at other Goodwill stores. I left without buying anything but may return for a wicker elephant end table if it is still there in a day or so. This is the most organized Goodwill store I've been to. Items here are priced individually instead of by category like all other Goodwill stores do. It almost seemed like a Ross store inside. It's nice that it's tidy, it makes it easier to shop, it's also organized by size. I found three sweater for great deals. Def worth a stop if you're in the area. read more

Many items are at this Goodwill are even more expensive than retail. I found a good amount of used 99 cent store items(cookware) that was priced 2-3 dollars which is saying something. Phone number is not updated so I couldn't call to make sure they would take my donation. Would not take my armchair donation, claimed that it was not up to their standard. I'm not sure what the goodwill standard is, but if you have some heavy stuff and it isn't like new, then don't your valuable time and effort to load it up and take it there. My goodwill was not welcome there. The worker there also put her finger in my chair when investigating for holes, she was really adamant about finding a hole, so she stuck her finger deep in my chair with substantial force and made a hole. read more
