My whole world revolves around thrifting, so I wanted to leave a review for my fellow thrifters -- I got you! I first shopped at Savers when I lived in Phoenix, AZ, and I've been a huge fan for over 10 years. Everything is donation-based (obviously), so what's available will always vary. PROS: When I went, they had a ton of great options for clothes and shoes!! My cart was full of jeans, dresses (both casual and dressy), statement jackets, and unique tops. I ended up spending $50 and walked away with two pairs of jeans, a long jean skirt, a knit shawl, overalls (which are hard to find in my size), and a couple of tops. There were a few items I wanted to keep soooo bad, but they were $20+ and I wanted to stay on budget. CON: Very, very, very messy and unorganized. This definitely isn't the employees' fault -- they're working as fast as they can -- but so many shoppers pick things up and put them back in random places. My advice is to check all rack sizes in both clothing and shoes. For example, I found a women's 8.5 Hoka in the men's section, though it was priced at $49 (a little steep for me). Many odd and unstable people in the store wandering around, and then targeting vulnerable people to ask for money or share some kind of sad story to say why they want that person to buy them something. That is crazy! Those people should be kicked out of the store. That is like harassment. My fiance and I were in that store recently. I saw the guy when I was coming out of the bathroom - which is pretty clean by the way, but there is no door to enter the actual room the stalls are in. That seems dangerous to me. Anyways this dude looked like trouble, I looked at him made eye contact and kept walking. Then later in the store near the shoes he walked up to an older lady and asked her to buy him a coat because he didn't have any money. I don't think that is appropriate. He should go to the Savers people and ask them. I observed and the lady declined and he walked away. This is not something I am willing to deal with every time I come into the store. The Savers in Orange County and the bay area, San Jose and Redwood City do not have such troubles. I haven't found anything in that store that I purchased. So, I will not be back. The staff is ok, there are not many mirrors, no dressing rooms, and just a really sketchy area. I am disappointed this wasn't a better store. I was really looking forward to it! I just recalled, when this store first opened we visited it. It was so much cleaner, brighter, and there were not random unhoused people harassing the shoppers. We actually purchased 3 sports coats for my fiance which were a great deal for some nice coats. I hope maybe one day they will get security who can help filter through who enters the store or at least be aware when one is acting inappropriately. I see someone in a different post mentioned Ross. I agree Linda B. I end up at Ross and get new items at better prices than that Savers, and there is not anyone in there asking me to buy them anything! They have security and a great team. This place is fantastic. I recently had the loss of a family member who had many many very useful items. I really didn't want them to be wasted by going to the dumps. My sister recommended Savers and so my journey began. The first journey, I filled two of their large green roller bins. Subsequently, I have returned three times and was actually greeted by Savers associates who helped me unload my items into the green bins. They were nothing but courteous and helpful. And have to say, this seems like it is not a high paying job. Yet these associates are just do matter of fact that this a good thing to be doing. No, it is a great thing that you are doing. This location is a lot more expensive than next door Ross. Lol. Imagine selling items with no capital but coming in free from donations. The price at this store is very expensive especially in the poorest part of San Pablo. You can get this items at a garage sale for $1 with better condition. Employees are also rough with them braking items at the back. You can hear them banging as far as to the store bathroom or the shoe area. The manager at this location was also same person managing redwood for a while. He loves to price item high. read more

Great spot to drop off stuff - you pull up, they have folks come out with bins who check all of your stuff and help you, super convenient and useful. Only spot around this area like this as a number of goodwills have closed. read more

If you enjoy thrift shopping you will want to check this location of Savers. The store is huge, parking is easy, and the store is clean and well-organized. There is a lot of merchandise to choose from. Prices do not seem as cheap as other thrift stores; they are definitely cheaper than they would be when they were new. Although I am not a shopper, on occasion I enjoy browsing and this large store is just the place to browse. You might even find a collectible at a price you can afford. read more

Sorry to say that this location has gone downhill since my last visit about 3 months ago (this was my 4th visit overall, 2 pre-fire closure and 2 after). Prices have increased quite dramatically - t-shirts for $10, generic glass serving bowl for $4.99, too many examples to name. Many clothing sections were suspiciously tiny, as in they just hadn't put stuff out; example: no women's long-sleeved blouses in sizes M, L, or XL. I asked and the clerk said, maybe we'll make it bigger if we get more donations in that size. Obviously they just didn't get to it. In general, the clothing racks were poorly organized, with sizes mixed up and men's mixed in the women's, etc. The guys taking donations were friendly and that's about all I can say for this location. I'd save your time and try some of the small local thrift shops where you know what organization you're benefitting and the volunteers appreciate your business. read more

We were in the area and decided to stop by. It's in a huge shopping center right off the freeway. They had a ton and f parking. The store itself is pretty big. They had a good selection of jeans in great condition for $10 you really can't beat that. I also had some good pet products. I found some books but not the biggest selection. Overall we had a good experience and found a few things. read more

Finally we've got a thrift shop in the area... Yes - there are things here that seem to be rather high, but nothing to get upset about. They got to pay their employees. This Savers rating needs saving. I saw reviews about how pricey this place is so was avoiding it but I went today and I was in awe. It was massive, clean, bright, and better organized than most thrift stores I've been to. Bought a button up top and a fruit basket for $13 total. Maybe it was luck but I'll definitely be back, because I live here (in this store) now. read more

Love this thrift store! The prices are so fair. I find items for low prices every time I go to this Savers. The employees are always friendly and helpful. The store itself is well organized and the clothes are in good condition. This store has plenty of items, including sports equipment, clothes, shoes, baby & kids clothes, books, school supplies, bags/purses, and lots of toys. The furniture section is small compared to the rest of the store, but the furniture is in good condition. I give this Savers 5 out of 5 stars. I don't think they have a changing room, but you can exchange clothing items after you purchase. All the registers are self checkout and I rarely have to wait in line. Give yourself an hour or two to spend here and you can find some quality thrift treasures. It's way better than a Goodwill Store because the prices are much lower and the items are always clean! The location of the store is easy to get to and in a safe area. I recommend eating at Lee's Garden Chinese food that's in the same parking lot. Also, if you're making the trip to Richmond for this store, you might as well take a hike at Point Richmond too and see the amazing views of the Bay. I hope this Savers stays open forever and all the employees there deserve raises. read more

Want to save money??? Save on gas money and stay home. Overpriced junk, and very limited inventory. You could do better at Marshall's, TJ Maxx, or Target, and save money and lots of time. What's worse is it's a for-profit and the money doesn't even go toward a good cause. Don't bother. read more

I tried to shop there today. it was closed due to a City notice that the building is unsafe/substandard. They just opened a few months ago. Why close so soon. Employees were working inside. It looks like stuff is being moved out of there. Lots of empty garment racks, and shelves. If you give someone a business license to operate why do you decide in a few months to close? Someone at city hall needs to be investigated, and loose their job because they obviously are not doing it. This store spent numerous months here trying to open, and people kept waiting for it to open, and now this. Why? Try to get another tenant to fill the space. Stores are closing everywhere, and the commercial real estate market is in a downturn nationwide right now. Sears and Kmart still have a lot of unsold properties listed on their website either for sale or lease. People are out of tune here. This looks like it is going to affect the store employees and they will all end up on the unemployment line. The city hall is not getting the sales tax from this establishment either which will further impact the city budget. read more

My first time there and I was very underwhelmed the prices of the donated items were very high they didn't bother cleaning off the toys even the self checkout that supposedly takes cash didn't work I had to wait extra long for the lady to come and help when all she was doing was standing there talking to a guest and laughing like a hyena the items are not that great and definitely overpriced read more

Had one in Berkeley that was AMAZING, sadly they closed. When I heard another had opened in nearby San Pablo, I was hyped to check it out. Lots & lots of clothing for the whole family BUT in my opinion OVERPRICED for a thrift shop. I found a pair of sweats that still had the tags on, and thought $11.66 wasn't bad for something that still had the original tags (never worn). However upon looking online when I got home to see what they normally sell for, the sell price was $11.66, NOT a huge discount from $11.99!Personally I expect deals at a thrift shop, that's why I go. AND, there aren't any changing rooms. Whoever is in charge of pricing needs some education on thrift store prices. read more

Dumb exchange policy. I looked around for over an hour to find something to exchange my returns for. Finally I found something, and it was 20 cents under my return amount. I said I didn't need the 20 cents. She said I had to buy something else to cover it. By then I had run out of time. Most of the clothes there should just be recycled but if you look there are a few good things. No dressing room, so if you do an exchange be prepared. So annoying read more

I went to the Savers new San Pablo location today for their soft opening. The store was well stocked, organized and staff were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately at this time, I am unable to give them 5 stars. My main purpose for going was in hopes of snagging a jewelry mystery jar. Sure enough, they had a few. I purchased one for $24.99. Every single piece of jewelry was broken. There was not one wearable item at all. There were random bits and pieces of broken chains, cheap bangles folded in half, key chains that you get for free from like real estate offices and single cheap earrings (without their match). It appears as though they literally sorted out all of the broken jewelry the had on hand and stuffed them into the jar. Mystery jars are really popular right now. It is well known, that you will get some broken stuff, some cheap stuff, but also a few nice pieces, which makes it worth your while. Some thrift stores sell cheaper jars with random broken pieces, gems, etc., but they are labeled for crafting purposes. Everything in the jar I purchased was trash. It was very deceiving and dishonest of them to put trash in a jar and take someone's money for it. They had nice items in their jewelry cases and on the racks. I purchased a sterling silver bracelet for $19.99. The bracelet is very pretty and has a bunch of little diamond like crystals (most likely not real diamonds). I thought I did a thorough inspection and was satisfied. Upon getting home, I found that the clasp was broken (not locking properly) and the bracelet was missing a small gem. Very disappointing. This bracelet is an item that should have been in the mystery jar, because at least it is sterling silver and worth repairing. read more

This store is super overpriced. When I read the reviews before coming to this new location, I saw other people commented the same. At first, I was skeptical because some people think thrift stores should charge $1 per item, if not less, because they get it all donated. This store is way beyond normal thrift store prices, way higher than what is needed to cover costs and make a profit. Old raggedy dolls were $12.99 each. Bags of random silverware (like 6 forks) was $8.99. Baskets were around $12.99 each. Some decor that looked like it was from the early 2000s, nothing special, was $49.99. Crazy expensive. I go to the other Savers in the Bay Area and their prices don't even compare. read more
