I mean, it's goodwill, so you know what you're getting into when you come in. It's a little chaotic, but the prices are pretty standard and they get good brands that can be missed and way underpriced. Sometimes prices can be more than a common sale price at new retailers, and dollar store items are items priced over double new happen regularly, but if you like the hunt, you can find great deals. This location is pretty great for books, selection is large and rapidly changing. I look for adults fiction, non-fiction, sci fi, thriller, fantasy, as well as young girls graphic novels and have had my best luck here. That alone will keep me coming back. Service here is always good for me, employees ask how it went and make nice comments on finds at times. I always appreciate a non robotic cashier, and get pleasantly surprised here. Goodwill will always keep me coming back for the ease of donation almost above all else. I appreciate the community support in who they work to employ as a company, so even if it's not my top thrift shop, I feel comfortable supporting their business. read more

I've seen this place get bad reviews but everyone has always been so cool to me and helpful. They still do tag discounts here which is really great. The selection varies but I've always found it to be pretty good and reasonably priced. I mean inflation and all is what is so prices are up but they still try to keep them reasonable here so that's a plus. read more

This place was great. My disabled wife and I were in the store recently and we're having a little bit of difficulty because we don't see very well. one of the workers a very nice young man was very helpful to my wife and I. I know his name started with the letter A so I'm thinking it was something like Augustus. I did tell him how thankful I was for being so respectful and helpful to my wife and I while we were there and honestly I wish more employees at other companies treated their customers that way. I do understand how hard it is to help somebody nowadays especially when you're busy but Augustus was extremely helpful and my wife and I will definitely be shopping there again thanks to the excellent customer service and quality items we purchased. Very gross store. I'll occasionally stop in to look at books but will never bring my kids in with me. The clothing areas are super unorganized and everything has a foul odor to it I've also stopped donating at this location. I once donated a decent office chair. While doing so I asked the attendant for help as I was super pregnant. He got a little snotty with me for even asking but still did it. Once out he says it's too worn out to take (it wasn't). When I tried to point that out he literally picks it up and hucks it across the parking lot and storms away yelling. Another time I went early in the morning to donate and it looked like an explosion. Clothes, shoes and other randomness were all over the donation area and it looked like someone had a mattress fire over night. The workers were talking like "ehhh, not as bad as usual" while 2 other guys (not employees" were just kind sorting through the stuff. Felt very uncomfortable and jetted out of there as quick as I could. read more

Not the most organized Goodwill that I have been to but I don't expect much from second (third and fourth) hand stores. I recently bought a new home and wanted to buy some beds. For the past couple years, when I needed a new-ish bed I would find the nearest Goodwill. The Goodwill does not take beds donated by the public but take beds from like home staging companies and others where beds aren't actually slept in. The prices are way better than buying from a mattress company. I was able to special order a pillow top CA King set (mattress and box springs) for less than $375 and even though the staff said it would take 2 weeks... But it was only one. The staff was very helpful answering questions we had on doing a special order and were professional and nice when we went to pick up the bed. I also bought a really nice TV stand for about $65 and a basic rice cooker for $6. When I first came in to buy the beds, the tv stand was about $100. Apparently, they mark down items every week or every other day for quick sales. Look for the "last chance" prices on the tag for a steal! One of the staff mentioned that last chance items are either trashed or sent to another store depending on the condition of the item. Either way, happy GOODWILL hunting! read more

I always find cute, clean, and items in condition when shopping for clothing here. They have a big selection of other items too. I think most items are reasonably priced, but some items still in the packaging and new near the register area and some end caps are more expensive. This is the absolute worst store I have ever been in. Not the worst Goodwill, just the worst store. Most of the staff, especially management are wildly unprofessional and rude. I have tried bringing things to their attention, such as large items in the showcase that are priced higher than a brand new one online, or that half of the item is missing, so it shouldn't be priced as high or whatever... I've had the manager snatch items from my hands. I've been yelled at. I've had my items sold because I "took too long" while shopping in the store. I've had the manager take something that I was asking a question about from me and tell me it's not for sale anymore then heard her say to an employee "because I'm gonna get it" then they both laughed. It takes a lot to get me to write a negative review for a place... Butt it's time. The last straw was the manager yelling over the speakers "we're closing in 2 minutes, being your stuff up now! Hey, no, stop shopping! We're closed! Either bring your stuff up here or get out of my store!" While making eye contact with me. I used to shop at this Goodwill store because it's close to my house, not anymore. I never had a problem returning something especially if it was broken. One day I was shopping for baking pans. I had specifically asked a gentleman that if I was duplicating any pan(either myself or my sister, she needed a medium size pan) if I could return them. He said yes, no problem. Well, that's exactly what happened. When I returned to get my money back, I was told that they had changed policies. To make a long story shorter, they should have put a notice on the door or emailed customers that you have 5 days to return items. I was one day late!!! They lost a loyal customer read more

I went into this goodwill today for the 3rd time. I did not like the atmosphere at all. The staff is really unprofessional here. They were treating customers very poorly. Then when I went to the fitting room to try on clothes, you can only try on 6 items at a time which is a big hassle and then they kept trying to rush me out when I'm a paying customer that spent $97 dollars. Then when I went to check out I got hassled for not " smiling" I had to sit and explain in front of a line of people that it's been a bad year for me that my beautiful son passed away and then 8 months later my big brother. Is it goodwills business if I smile? I wasn't rude at all I just don't feel like smiling. I think the prices are down right outrageous. One of the items I bought had the original price on it from dd's discount for $2.99 they had it taped hiding it and charged me $4.99 I mean you got this for free why rip off poor people? I won't waste my time going there anymore. They have mostly Walmart crap there and nothing designer like what customers are looking for that don't have a lot of money. Pretty dingy but I came here looking for a used tennis racquet that was one of the more modern ones. I found only one for $4.19. I also found a bike helmet for $2.19. One of the workers I chatted with was a nice older guy who spent about 5 minutes talking with me. Nice guy. Other than that this is not one of your cleaner GW's. I only chose to visit this spot for the first time because the next closest to me is Arden and that is a tough spot to get parking and in a busy area. I would come here if I need something used that is not worth buying new and wanted an easy drive and parking situation. I'd advise the same to anyone who is nearby or doesn't mind driving here to avoid busier GW's. I hope that helps some of my fellow Yelp dogs out. read more

I had five bags of donations to drop of at the Elkhorn/Walerga store. A guy was in back, checking the bags for appropriate donations. l showed him a big bag of Christmas tree decorations (delicate silver balls) and he indicated I should put it in his wheeled container. Then he tried to dump several different heavy items on top of that bag. I objected each time, and he said "all of this will end up in the dump anyway". That was my last donation to Goodwill! read more

On June 12th we dropped off a large load of donations. There were three employees just chit chatting and every now and then telling us where to put stuff. I am clearly pregnant and it's extremely hot. Instead of them standing in the shade and having a good time joking and laughing, they could have helped. Was excited to find a new Goodwill store in this area since the madison store closed. I am giving 2 stars because it was clean, organized, full, and good selection. The down side is that it is serioiusly over priced. I shop ALL of the GW's in the sacramento area on a regular basis and while they all seem to have their own pricing based on demographics, this one is out of the ball park. Same item at Folsom costs more than the one at Fulton but here it is double. ie, They wanted $9.99 for an Under Armour Tee that at Folsom will normally charge $6.99, while Fulton will put $5.99 or less. Good stuff but Crazy prices that even on half off day, it would be equivalent to all the other stores regular price day. So that tells me that GW Outlet might get some good stuff in the future because if an item does not sell after 4-6 wks it gets sent to the outlet for bulk pricing. People will not pay that much at GW, at least not me. I did buy a few items that were new with tags so paying the higher price was not as bad. However, the girl at that was ringing me up had no service skills. No personality until she started shopping through my stuff! I understand commenting and moving on but she seriously stopped to inspect my goodies and asked her co-worker what tag date they could start purchasing things. I had a new pair of shoes that she put her hand in to hold them up and admire and then put them on the ground to see how'd they look on her! I was apalled. To top it off, there was a line behind me and she is taking her sweet time shopping through my stuff. It is one of the most bizarre shopping experiences of my life. read more

Great place but the manager was an unfriendly and rude when ask about a price of an item that was unmarked. Manager decided not to sell me the item since there wasn't a price. I really wanted the item and found out the manager placed the item back put on floor after I left and people stole parts and broke the item. This store is really over-priced. Yes, you can find some cute clothes here, but you're going to pay two to three times what you'd pay at a better thrift store. They have a huge sweater selection in the winter, but the prices are a joke. It seems they slap a $5 tag on about every shirt, regardless of the quality, condition and style of the item. The store is also a mess, especially the aisles of shelves. Knickknacks are just scattered about with very little organization. I'll stop by here when I'm already in the shopping center, but otherwise I skip it. There's far better stores within a short distance. read more

I thought maybe people were just being picky because in my opinion, Goodwills are usually a tiny bit more "expensive" than a little hole-in-the-wall thrift shop, but no - it's over priced. Granted, I only went to the electronics and video/book section. I've been trying to hunt down a few VHS tapes for the last couple months so that's where I started. I've been to probably 10 different Goodwills in the last 2-3 weeks and ALL of them price their Disney and super popular tapes at $1. You can sometimes find some for 50¢ but this Goodwill had almost every tape at $2. I found 2 that I really wanted and I haven't seen at other stores so I just bought them because... Well.. It's just $4 lol but I can imagine if this store sells their insanely old movies for double the price of other stores - their clothes are probably not worth it. I looked to see if Goodwills have reopened since the COVID-19 closed all businesses that were deemed a non neccessity business when I saw the reviews. Curious I started to read them and could only hope that whoever is in charge of Goodwill reads them too. I will agree they are overpriced. Here is an example...When I first walked through these doors 6 or 7 years ago womens jeans were priced mostly at $4.99 with the highest price no more than $6.99. Now mind you they would have a color of the week that would allow you to save an additional 50% on top of that. I love a good deal and I was hooked until... The prices started increasing at alarming rates. Now I understand about cost of living or expense increases however this particular store indeed seemed to quadruple their prices! Not only did they implement a blanket price for say mens shirts they priced the damaged shirts equally without any indication that it was damaged. Usually you should see an "as is" on the tag. Speaking of tags one reviewer stated a price tag was missing from the product and when they asked the manager for a pruce the manager refused to sell the item to them. This has happened numerous times that I witnessed. Once I found a cute top but no tag. I asked for a price and the store manager came up to the register and instead of simply saying politely I am sorry to tell you this however I can not sell you this item as Goodwills' policy mandates that any item untagged be returned to the pricing department so a new tag can be generated... I received an exasperated look that suggested I removed the tag and a harsh... I can't sell this to you. I also agree with several of the reviewers that customer service skills are severly lacking. I have encountered a few workers who had these skills however for whatever reason they were gone rather quickly. I suspected they quit due to their working environment. Occasionally I may enter the store and see if there have been any changes in their pricing procedure and usually discover no changes. If there is a change it seems like they increased their prices again so I just leave and go down the street to Pacific Thrift. They have fair prices and the staff are really nice to everyone who walks in. read more

I brought my issue about an employee to another employee , than the employee I have an issue with came back to me and start a scene bringing other customers into the situation. They priced a clothing item wrong and instead of abiding by the tag THEY had on it, they tried to increase the price. False advertisement. Clearly its their mess up and we didn't switch the tags seeing as how we don't have a tag gun. Very disappointed. We came here a lot now I don't think we'll be back. read more

I came here for stuff for myp 2yr old daughter and some towls. I was excited to see a newer store. Thought it would be clean and stocked for being pretty new. It's got nothing on the old area goodwill off hilsdale/Madison that was closed. I was sorely disappointed. I give one star based on the fact that it was clean. The towls I bought were $3 each. I asked if any were on sale.. As each price tag did have a different colored plastic connector on it. (as if there were a color of the day sale/rotation going on) and was told No. They don't do that, and they don't do sales. I also had to wait about 5 mins for a shopping cart. At this time, I won't shop anywhere with my 2 yr old anywhere without a shopping cart. I almost gave up and left. I didn't go at a busy time, either. (another thing I try to practice shopping with a 2 yr old).I may come back, If I were looking to buy a new pack of socks or a new (used) book, (as it appears that what is best stocked here). I absolutely love this store!!!!! The employees are nice and so are the management team. Its crazy i see how some of you people over here bashing the employees especially the managers. The one blonde you look you steal for one and probably do. At the end, the managers especially the store manager are the best I've dealt with. The store manager is amazing since i been coming here for 5 years shes been nothing but nice and always working. Shes not rude i think you are probably cause you couldn't have your way. These people have jobs to do and people like you probably make it hard for those employees. She's been nothing but nice and has gone over head and heals for for her customers and they love her and I've seen it. Quit being bitter cause this is my favorite store because they have manners and respect. Cause those employees and managers don't cuss on that floor completely lies. Go goodwill. I've gotten many good deals on things I needed there, but if you"re a professional consumer and that's all you are then don't bother, as they do not offer any of the little consumer niceties and return policies (read none)that professional shoppers require. That being said, if you go in with common sense, take then for what they are and don't take yourself too seriously then you can get good prices on good stuff and have a positive experience doing it. When I tried to return a shirt and the manager on duty at the time told me that all sales were final and that there were no exceptions, I offered to just "Donate" it (I used the word) back to them. She was so taken by surprise that someone would do that that she allowed me to exchange it for another shirt, which was all I asked for to begin with. She was even profusely apologetic that the shirt I chose just happened to be a dollar less than the one I returned. I was completely satisfied. A little common sense, human understanding and creativity can go a long way. The only reason for no 5th star is that their local managers seem to have no real latitude in running their stores. read more
