I left the clothes/shoes there with the understanding that I would receive a text. I dropped them off around 5pm on Saturday. I called twice on Sunday (just got a vm telling me to call back during business hours). I confirmed they were open on Sunday when I dropped the clothes off. I finally drove back to the store around 230 on Sunday to find they were closed. Which was weird since the sign on the door indicated they were open on Sunday. Now who doesn't love a good thrift find? I have always loved thrift shopping and both selling my items for quick cash or finding a cute name brand item for more than 70% off its original price. Total score all day long! It was my first selling experience here / store visit a few days ago...solid 4 stars overall.. Uptown Cheapskate can be located in the Sprouts shopping center across from Kaiser Hospital Roseville. Lots of parking directly adjacent to the store. It's light, bright and inviting with its high ceilings and bright lights. For a thrift store I would have to say this place is clean and organized && most importantly doesn't have a funky "used smell" like other places tend to have (IYKYK for those that are in the thrift world). I was greeted right away and felt welcome. When you come in to sell, you check in on an iPad. I have a few customers ahead of me and was told the wait would be 20-30 minutes. While I waited I walked around to see the different selection on used items. They have both men's and women items, all types of clothing, shoes and accessories, swim suits, jewelry- you name it they got it! Quality of items? Pretty close to brand new. Now don't get it twisted, most if not all items are USED, second-hand used, but you can sometimes come across new items with original tags still attached. Prices? Depends on the item. This is where thrifting gets fun :D I would say things are priced pretty fairly for the quality. I found some named brand jeans that normally would be in the ball park of $60 dollars, but were selling for $20. Not bad. Personally, if I find an item that is close to or more than 60% off then you got a deal! Would I come back to Uptown? Probably. They tried to claim that I chose store credit upon check-in when I did not actually choose anything at all. And I wanted cash. The girl at the front register rushed me and she said just to sign and hit next and I didn't even get a chance to read what I was signing. Which was probably me electing store credit versus cash. And then they told me it was a one hour wait. And finally when I called them out on it, they claim that they do not have people select store credit or cash ahead of time and they only get to select once the offer is made, and they are contradicting themselves. Because they do have you select what you want at check-in. But yes, definitely one store because the girl rushed me and did not let me select cash. And then they try to say that you don't have to choose it until pick up time. They are totally contradicting themselves because you do it ahead of time instead of at pick up time. read more

My honest review..!! It was my first time to walk into this store on 2.11.25. Let me tell U, I honestly felt like the rich side of East RSVL, which is also close to Granite Bay area, just dumped all their closet items they no longer wanted... VERY HIGH END BRANDS, as well as soO many J's (Jordan kicks) variety to choose from. But their all mainly priced at retail value. I was able to browse through their clothing and they carried alot of name brands as well. I saw Bape, Essential, Supreme, Nike & Balenciaga. They also carried Lululemon & Gymshark. I saw a few items from Old Navy.... the way they tag their clothing is "store name" then price below. Honestly this isn't a "NORMAL" thrift store. U walk in, be prepared to walk into the mall, basically. I know alot of Gen Z goes thrifting but not sure this would be the same level as the prices are not THRIFT price. Majority, but there are some that "CAN" be reasonable. I mean at this point I could just be shopping at the mall or at Burlington. I can say though. They keep their kicks (shoes) in prestige condition. They don't look anywhere touched or used. Majority of them don't have the wrinkles at the front of the shoes to show wear and tear, the bottom of the shoes are still clean & never touched pavement. IF ANY OF U WANA BRING CLOTHES TO SELL HERE, MAKE SURE IT'S THE CURRENT TREND & NAME BRAND.. because that's all U see walking in this store. It's definitely nice, clean and good lighting. Hmmm....I'm not quite sure how to feel about these folks. I love a good thrift store but I'd say if you work at one, you should probably limit your judgment about and to your customers? But honestly that just goes for anyone who exists in life- keep your judgements in your head. One of the employees passively insulted my daughter and I by first acknowledging and complimenting our tops and when I said "oh, we love a good Amazon buy!" She snarkly said "oh, ya you mean your dupe of Free People". I'm sorry- what? What! Why is that necessary.... The follow up insult was when they told another woman, very condescendingly on the phone, "um ok, that means we aren't interested in your item. You need to come in by the end of the day and retrieve it". This was coming from a male employee. Equally rude. Overall, the people, they ruin the vibe. I think they have a weird complex of themselves. On another note, their inventory is decent. I just can't stand people who treat people like that though. I want to start by saying that Uptown Cheapskate is a very nice, decent store with a good selection and a clean layout. The store itself is not the issue. Unfortunately, the customer service really needs improvement--specifically how employees communicate with customers and how policies are applied. I called the store ahead of time to ask about a specific item and was told they could not put items aside for customers. I respected that and still made the drive. However, once I arrived at the store and asked about the same item, one of the employees told me it had been put aside for another customer. That makes zero sense and feels very inconsistent and unprofessional. If the policy is that items cannot be held, then it should apply to everyone equally. What made the situation even more frustrating was that, while telling me the item was supposedly set aside, the employee whispered to her coworker that he "better come get it." If the item wasn't sold, there was no reason for that behavior, which only added to the confusion and lack of professionalism. I drove nearly 2 hours to get there based on the information I was given. Clear communication and keeping your word to customers truly matters. The store has a lot of potential, but customer service and consistency need serious improvement. I wouldn't waste the drive unless these issues are addressed. read more

I brought a large bag of clothes (5+ pairs of men's jeans/pants and two Hollister sweatshirts) to sell and they said they could get to them the next day. They reached out the next day that they would not buy anything (odd, but okay). I was leaving out of town for a few days so I let them know that and was clear that I would pick up the bag on Friday. The person on the phone said they would hold the bag. I confirmed via text that I did not want to donate the bag. On Friday I arrived to pick up the bag and they no longer had it! This is our 2nd time visiting. The first time we came on opening day and scored a tote bag that gives you extra 10% on purchases and 10% in buy Back credit. I purchased a bag. The store is new, clean, well organized and have a great selection of mid to high level brands of clothing including YSL, LV, Yeezy and Jordan's. All items were definitely new or like new conditions which justify the price on some items but still getting a bargain. This time we decided to see if we can sell our clothes and we dropped off 2 bags one bag of women's clothing and one bag of men's. We checked in and said it would take about 45mins to 1 hour. The whole process was quick. We shopped around and it was ready to be picked up. We were pleasantly surprised that they bought 15+ pieces. The buy back process was fair. It was fast, quick and easy. I had used them in the past to sell a few items with no real issue. This time was a different and disappointing experience. I'm not even mad about the fact they didn't take any of my items this time around. I totally understand they take only what they can sell. My issue is the staff member that assisted me. She gave me such an attitude when I came in to sell some items. Just rude and snotty as soon as I walked in. She told me it was an hour wait and I had to stay on premises. I asked if I could just do a drop off instead. She gave me a hard time until another employee overheard and said that was fine to do. The next day I picked up the items since nothing sold and of course the same employee with the same rude and dismissive attitude. I would recommend maybe a course in customer service. The vibes are horrendous. I'm sitting in the store with my dad as I begin to type this. We are having a day of thrifting and we wanted to check this store out as we had just left Pluto's Closet in Roseville. We walk in and immediately, no. No one greeted us AT ALL despite seeing us walk in. A couple of other folks stepped in after us and were greeted. " Hey, welcome in!" Enthusiastically . My dad was looking for Nikes, why are USED Nikes $170+. I browsed through their shirts, BAPE, Supreme, Kith, etc. outrageously priced. Saw a Nike shirt with the retail tag still on. Retailed for $45 they have it priced at $79.99....huh??!?? My dad was still shopping around and I had to use the bathroom. I go up to the counter not a single person says a word to me, it's like I'm invisible. So, I say "hi do you have a bathroom" the girl looks SOOO irritated that I just spoke to her and pauses and says "yeah..." and is silent so I'm like okay?!?! I look to her coworker and they also say "yeah" but nicer? I guess? Anyway, the first associate then decided she had time to open the bathroom door for me, I say "Thank you" she says "mhm" short. So after I used the bathroom I just decided to sit my Black a** down and wait for my dad to finish looking. There's actually no way in hell I would spend a cent in this store and I for surely won't everrrrr be coming back. Adore this resale shop! They have a ton of branded items at a fraction of the cost. I'd rather visit to do regular shopping here rather than sell my own clothing. I considered selling some vintage branded jeans and designer bags on my first visit. However, their offer is insanely lowball for my Levi jeans at $7.50 store credit or $6 in cash, and my Telfar bag at $62.50 store credit or $50 in cash (despite its $210 face value on StockX) led me to back out. I decided to sell my items on Facebook Marketplace instead the same day, and was able to get the money I wanted. Asked people around me if they have also had a negative experience here and almost everyone has said they have. Went there once and will never be going there again. I came in to browse and look around. I was there for about 30 mins and not one employee acknowledged me. Several walked by and didn't say excuse me as they tried to get by in the small aisles, or can I get a room started for you (I had over 10 items in my hand.) When I did get to the fitting room two employees were talking and didn't say a word to me, give eye contact, or stop talking. I stood there waiting for someone to help me get a room. One of the employees (I believe he's one of the owners), just stood there and never looked at me, and the other employee finally grabbed her key and walked to a room without saying a word. It was clean & well organized. It had a lot of fast fashion brands but also quality as well. Problem is that I've never seen a thrift store with such high prices. I had to think about it & that statement is true. I've traveled all over. Been shopping thrift for a long time so I've seen the trends of prices as they fluctuate. $15 for an h&m tank? Fast fashion who's stretch content is going to disintegrate in a couple more years. As a black woman, I feel uneasy coming in to sell because I am totally disregarded as I approach the counter. Even when making eye contact with very obvious intent to sell. I have brought in freshly washed as well as barely used items on two separate occasions; both times either low-balled or totally rejected outright. I am talking name brands like H&M, Michael Kors, Urban Outfitters etc. It seems that their standards for buying are not the same across the board for ALL clientele. I walked in today and received no greeting by the male employee (maybe the manager?) he just stared at me and walked away. Then I dropped off my items to sell- I had about 8 items and the female employee said it would take 15 minutes. It took maybe 2. I get a text stating none of my items will be taken. I walk up to the counter and a different female employee is there, so I ask her if she can explain to me why none of my items were taken. She proceeds to say "I don't know, I wasn't the one looking through your things. Maybe it was because of the patterns?" Meanwhile I look over and see the original female employee standing about 10 feet away at the counter - no explanation why none of my items were taken. Just a very fake "Have a nice day." Not really sure where to start with this review. Incredibly disappointed with this place for the 3rd time as I've consistently been met with awful customer service. Their website states shopping here "benefits your friends and neighbors," which is 100% not their mindset. I dropped clothes off and called them 24 hours later to get an update. Was rudely told they haven't gotten to my stuff and that I'd receive a text when it was ready. Never received a text. Got an email 2 days later stating what store credit I had earned for my sell. Went to pick up my extra clothes and was told they threw them in the TRASH. I wasn't even mad about the fact they pocketed my money and would only offer store credit, but the fact they were too lazy to donate my clothes.. I asked why they didn't donate and the "manager" said it takes too much time to drive to drop them off. He claimed I was contacted multiple times and that my texts were turned off - and didn't have 5 seconds to call and let me know my stuff was ready to be picked up. He also made sure to mention that my clothes they threw away didn't matter cuz "if they were good we would have bought them." If you are gonna sell here, know that opting out of spam texts means you won't get any text updates at all. And they won't call you! 10/10 recommend selling/shopping elsewhere - Crossroads, Cucamonga, or Freestyle. The couple managing this store really puts the "cheap" in this Cheapskate.
