Today (04/03/2022:1:47:33 pm) I went to the Goodwill store (2040 Alta Arden Expy, Sacramento CA) to buy some books. I bought 122 pieces of books the price was $ 316.85. I have 4 box books. I need to help make the box. I want help from the cashier, even an Active manager did not help me. Customer service is very very poor. I am not happy with their service. I am a regular costomer. I went in on a Saturday afternoon dropping off some yard sale leftovers and they took it all. First time at this location & it is HUUUUGE! Which translates to a big selection. Came tonight with the Hubs to try & get together our Halloween costumes for the upcoming Yelp Halloween party this Friday....time was running out! Well, shout out to Good Day Sacramento for reminding me this morning & last week that this is the place to come. Not only did we both get our costumes WITH accessories, but I also picked up a $10 pleather pencil skirt I've recently been shopping online for! How did we get away with walking out the door spending only a total of $41....WHHUUUUTT?!?!? And that's because we rounded up for a donation to the current cause, which is either going towards the hurricane victims or the NorCal fire victims! (Unfortunately the cashier wasn't exactly sure.) Way to go Goodwill for allowing us to feel good about our pocketbook AND our purchases!! Doesn't it feel awesome when shopping doesn't break the bank?? Lastly, I MUST mention the customer service here was also top notch. One older lady walked up to us to check if we needed any help finding stuff, & when we said we had found what we were looking for, she also gave suggestions for other accessories to go great with our fits! Cashiers were friendly AND speedy, making the line move along quick. This place had me walking out wondering, why don't I shop here more?? On a positive note there is a lot of stuff to look through and the store is pretty clean, all the dressing rooms were cleared out, a rare find at any thrift store. The "security" guy was extremely diligent about checking the dressing rooms and keeping the store floor tidy. On the downside, as a previous reviewer mentioned some of the rack are crammed so full that it's impossible to shop. The dress racks especially. My arms hurt after looking through, and forget being able to put something back once you've pulled it from the rack, can't even fit it back in. As a result these racks look like a mess. Prices were pretty steep at least compared to those in the east. The Goodwill in Dallas was the only one I've found to be more expensive. Items are priced individually, as in Dallas, and you should expect around 5.99 for skirts, 6.99 for dresses, 4.99 for tops and up. I did find quit a few items but put a lot back because of the prices. Still worth a look if you are in the neighborhood read more

Every time I shop here I get ink on my hands, 1/2 the time it's from things I'm buying that they then have to reprice!!! I finally told the cashier that I really HATE getting ink all over me, then having items reprice for possibly more than they were when I picked it up. She said they use dry erase markers to avoid staining the items...don't they realize what they're selling is broken & already stained lol? ATTN MANAGEMENT I suggest they use permanent markers on the bags at least! Note: permanent marker can be removed from household items & plastic toys with alcohol. This was absolutely the worst experience I had ever in my life. I wish I could give 0 stars. Although the store had a wonderful selection it does not outweigh one of the most racist and disrespectful customer service performances I've encountered. A clerk by the name of Rhonda had the most disgusting and disinviting attitude So here's exactly how the story goes: I see a coach Trent hanging in an assistance only section, I hadn't noticed that it was that type of section so Rhonda rudely tells me from about 10ft away I couldn't come to that area which I understood, but definitely was bothered by her tone but disregarded it because she's human and might be having an off day. She's comes over to me and stops at the coat and looks at me and says so rudely "this is woman's coat" as if 1. Since I'm a man I can't get the coat 2. She's assuming I identify as male therefore the cost wasn't for me or 3. I'm not allowed to buy a gift. I said right back "I know I still want to see it...?!" So thrown off by the fact that she didn't just say ok and let me see the coat. She gets the coat and literally throws it at me discreetly. I was LIVID and responded "don't throw this coat at me" she defended against her actions, of course. I said "you know what you did lady, DONT play with me". She stayed quiet because she knew she threw it and probably felt intimidated at this point. I was examining the coat for validity and a lady came to the register and asked if anyone was going to help her Rhonda had abandoned her position and instead of calling a co-worker to either get the register or help me she told the other woman to wait, which put a rush on my shopping. I threw the coat back at her ol raggedy self and left. Do not shop here if you're black or LGBTQ+ this was a very trashy experience. I do not intend on shopping at this location for a while. read more

I dont' shop at Goodwill regularly. But this is a big improvement over the Fulton store! It's huge first off, and doesn't feel nearly as dark and crowded. I was looking for a picnic basket (which was slightly more expensive than I expected) but was quite impressed at the Halloween set up. As a kid, we loved coming to Goodwill to find stuff for our halloween costumes. This store would have been our first stop! The employees were great. Very friendly. Wasn't a fan of some of the other customers who didn't respect the checkout line, but the store has no control over that. read more

During COVID. They receive donations daily from 10:00am to 3:00pm. It's a huge building compared to other facilities. Quick and easy and good to know they are accepting donations during this time. Also, its illegal to leave your bags and stuff there after hours. read more

I've been wanting to check out this new Goodwill that recently opened, and today it finally happened. Honestly, I didn't know what to expect, but the result wasn't the best. I will point out that I came on a day of a 50% off sale, so I won't completely rely on today's experience for my final verdict on how I feel about this store. First reaction upon arrival: Holy s#!+ this place is enormous and there's a frick ton of people. Like, a lot of friggin people. Too many that I decided to ditch my shopping cart almost immediately because of the inability to comfortably maneuver the aisles filled with other shoppers. It's not their fault, they're all here for the sale, I get it, however, it appears the aisles are just really narrow, and when you add the hoards of shoppers and their carts, it just creates huge traffic jams. They have a TON of Halloween inventory, which is pretty cool. There's also plenty of everything else. Tons of it. Anyway, overall I think I'd like to return on a regular day and see how I feel about it. Today's trip was just stressful; couldn't really shop comfortably because of all the people. Bought a few things for pretty cheap, so that was cool. Idk. I'll have to update this review in the future. read more

Why only 3 stars? Well because it is obvious that everything they are selling was given to them and i've noticed a lot of simple or worn out items extremely overpriced. I suggest they reconsider their pricing if they want to sell more products, i've turned down many neat items due to their unreasonable price... But, as far as goodwill's go, this one is definitely my favorite due to it's vast amount of women's and children's clothes to pick from. Huge store, clean and organized. Friendly workers. It's obviously a struggle to keep the aisles clear due to the rushed human traffic shopping there. Prices for the quality and abundance of goods is more than fair. I'd rather pay a buck more and find something fast than spend an hour looking for something to save a buck at most thrift stores. $10.20 for a $140 pair of boots which obviously never even been on pavement ! $2.19 for a $80-120 figurine made in 1910-1919 GB ! read more

Tons of Halloween costumes that are all separated into individual categories. Very clean and organized. I found a leather jacket for $10.00 so prices are inexpensive. Halloween section staff are always asking if you need assistance finding anything. Lots of household goods. A whole isle of board games. Fast and speedy check out. read more

I used to go to the goodwill in the old Arden location and it was small and kind of dirty, that goes also for the one by the 24 fitness on Fulton. The problem is that they were really small location wise and not great at all so when I heard they are making a new Goodwill last year, I was excited. I came here and this place is HUGE and it is in the middle of a industrial area which is a nice place. Nothing too shady about it. The lanes are wide and long. Obviously the women's section is the size of like more than half the store but it makes sense. They are neatly organized and they have really good pricing. When you walk in, The dresses are in the back of the store. the children's section is to the right. The shoes is in behind that section and then men's is behind the shoes. You have furniture or what they have so far between the women's clothes and dresses. Keep an eye on their sales because they do give about 50% during those sales!!! read more

I only come for books which they always have very organized unlike most Goodwill stores.

I used to like goodwill and this one has a lot of variety but the prices are crazy . I can go to Wal-Mart and buy a shirt for 5.49 and then go to goodwill and buy a used shirt for 6.99 or some old Pyrex bowels and they are 20.00 dollars s bowl. Why am I gonna go to good will and buy that when I can get a better deal at a antique mall . I don't get it they are getting this stuff donated , I'm not gonna go to goodwill and get stuff for my daughter's new apartment when I can go to Wal-Mart or target and get it new for the same price and know it's guaranteed. This is a fairly new Goodwill. Very nice location with lots of parking space. This is probably the biggest Goodwill I've ever been to and coming in I felt overwhelmed. What I liked most about this store is the cleanliness and how well it is organized compared to other thrift stores. You can for sure find pretty much anything you're looking for like books, a nice top, a pair of good shoes (if they have your size) and home decor. If you know what you're looking for then I'm pretty sure you can find it here. It just takes a lot patience to look around. Overall, my rating for this store is just OK. read more

I enjoy being mello and lazy when I'm thrift store browsing. I like the bigger places like this shop in Arden because there is alot too look at. This place is now my 'go-to' for when I just need one thing- like a serving plate, or when I want to wander and think about the history behind some of the items. It is amazingly organized and the crew members are restocking the shelves as things are being carried away so they don't thin out. The crewmembers I really want to thank. I'm starting to become more disappointed with this Goodwill each time I go in. I was excited to get new boots for Fall so I decided to go on a "half off all DONATED goods" day. Well, I found a pair of Fall fashion boots only to be told it's full price because it's considered "a Halloween item" Who the heck decides what's Halloween and what's EVERYDAY?! It's not like the boots came from a Halloween store! It's a fall fashion boot that can be worn everyday! The lady next to me was irritated too because the jewelry she picked out was considered a Halloween item. Wtf! What's next, scrubs won't be half off either because it's considered a costume during your Halloween set up? Total BS. Used items are too overpriced and shoes aren't apart of half off days once they set up for Halloween. So much for my "Goodwill Hunting" day. The first visit, I was blown away. This place is HUGE! Now I've been about a dozen times, and I've come home with some really cool and useful stuff! They have a big clothes section, but I only wear dresses and skirts, which they don't seem to have much of. If you wear jeans, there's tons of jeans. The checkout staff has been very friendly to us, always. We have had a couple rude experiences when asking for the front case to be opened. And we knew for sure we were going to buy the items! I imagine if they had to pull it out and then put it back, the rudeness would have gotten worse. Maybe there's a reason why they seem to hate the case and any involvement with it? Sunday is the only sale day, it's 50% off a certain color. It's not like other goodwill where all week there's a certain color on sale. read more

Okay store but employees can be a little pushy while working. They've got a lot of good stuff and I've found some great toys for my kids here but the only thing I don't really like is that when the employees are stocking the shelves they can be a little rude and pushy. I like going through the yellow bins of items just brought out from the back and I've been doing this for years but at this location they seem to get upset when you look through them. When I worked in retail years ago we always trained employees that the customers always have the right away and that should never push by a customer. read more

This is the only thrift store I've been able to find anything. It's pretty neat here compared to others I've been too. All the workers are constantly cleaning the racks up and cleaning the clothes that fall off the hangers. They also have a drive thru donation drop off. I've had stuff in my car for a week now because I've been trying to donate at the goodwills in Elk Grove but they were all full. I went to this location today because it's by my house. Literally was here for a couple minutes and was able to donate my stuff. An attendant came straight to my car to help get the stuff out. This will be my go to donation drop off as I clean my way through my parent's house! read more

I have been a frequent shopper of the goodwills for a while now . I have to say that this store has secured my decision to stop shopping the good wills . If you want to feel like a criminal or second class citizen come on in. The prices have skyrocketed in the past year, to the point where items from the dollar store are now double the price here and brand new shirts at Walmart and old navy are cheaper than their used friends at the goodwill . It's ridiculous. Not to mention they are all tagged with security alarms, no big deal, but the receipt checker at the exit , not necessarily legal protocol unless you've entered into a contract with a warehouse club like Costco that you sign a legal document that you need to surrender your receipt, doesn't quite give you a please come back and shop with us again feeling. It may be clean , they get a star for that but wait a year or two. The bins of new merchandise in the aisle that you would peruse to see if you can find any treasures , you now get ostracized for looking in and they will tell you not to go through them . I'm very much over the goodwill . Do yourselves a favor, take your business to your local thrift stores , St.. Vincent's , desert industries, thrift town and give to others truly not just to a fat cat CEO. read more
