What a great Goodwill location, it is so big it is slightly intimidating. I think I could get lost in here. Huge selection of housewares and furniture, which is the whole reason we shop at Goodwill. The aisles are awkwardly sized, and we brought a stroller with us so navigation was tough. Next time we will carry the baby, or go without her. We went on a Sunday afternoon and it was very crowded. I would be interested to see how the experience differs on a slower day. I like being able to take my time and meander around stores like this. This place is huge! I came to check out the annual glitter sale. I was expecting the place to be extremely crowded. It was crowded but not as bad as I thought. Wear light and comfortable clothing. It gets hot and you want to be able to try stuff on in the aisles. They only let a group of people in at one time. I had to wait about 30 minutes from the time I arrived to be able to enter the special glitter sales room. That's okay though because there is so much other stuff to browse. I got a lot of stuff from the mail floor. Here's what you can expect in the glitter room area; tons of fur coats and other fancy jackets. I spent at least an hour browsing through the jackets. There are many racks of fancy dresses. I didn't bother with these, I'm not going to a prom, wedding or anywhere else i would have a reason to wear such a fancy dress. They have lots of shoes, I quickly browsed and found a pair of uggs for $24. Then they have pants, tops, blazers.. Maybe they call it glitter cause almost all the tops are of the glittery/sequin style?? Them they have accessories; bags, scarfs, hats (vintage), and jewelry. I didn't get to look at the jewelry. I spent about 3 hours looking. I tried as much on as possible in the aisles and tried to get in front of a few mirrors. It was Sunday about 10am when I arrived. Parking took a while. My husband dropped my off so I could get a wristband and continued to look for parking. Then we switched so he could get a wristband. It took him another 20 minutes after to park. The glitter sale is probably worthwhile but make sure you are not hungry/thirsty/tired/impatient/overdressed because you will be miserable if you are any of those things. One thing I didn't like is that in the regular clothing area the clothes are packed too tightly on the the racks and you can't move them. Other thing was that in the glitter room some of the volunteers were really annoying. They would stand in an aisle fooling around and blocking the way of customers. read more

Goodwill has crazy shit at great prices. I bought the SOFTEST lap blanket here the other day - it was folded up and hung, but it was black, so I looked for the price tag and realized that the awesome zebra-striped side had been folded in so you couldn't see it! I couldn't resist. Their housewares are great - you can shop by material, so if you need anything metal, go down the metal aisle and get pans, garden art, and bookshelves, candlesticks, weird things for the grill, etc. I love how organized yet random everything is. Great hunting! Clothes tend to be iffy for me. I'm too much of a hippie to take the workwear-type stuff they tend to specialize in, and the cool stuff they have for trendy folks is too patterned, too strongly colored, or too sparkly. Ah! The Mecca of cool junk and temple of the utterly useless! The huge Goodwill of Seattle is near the CD, Chinatown and a short trip away from the Salvation Army and is the haven of rare finds and keeper of the 'what-were-they-thinking'. I usually stop by the mighty Goodwill a couple of times a week to troll through the books, the men's suits, toys and furniture. I sometimes find great stuff, sometimes nothing, but I always stop to watch the people who seem to live there, their carts piled high with treasures, ready to pounce on the next trolley pulled by the much-harassed workers. I almost feel sorry for the poor shelf-stockers as the regulars grab and poke at the trolley contents, looking for the next great fleamarket or eBay item. All this in spite of signs stating that nothing is for sale until taken out of the trolleys. Makes me want to slap hands, I tells ya... You'll find a bunch of great things there, plus a bunch of stuff you weren't expecting (signed footballs?), but chances are you'll end up with a bunch of stuff you weren't even looking for (heck, I always do!) Goodwill has been cleaning up their act lately, sorting books into sections, ferreting out rarer items for their 'Treasure Shop' or eBay, and trying to keep things a bit cleaner. You can still find some good bargains, but you'll have be watchful...and don't get in the regulars way! read more

Holy crap this is a giant Goodwill. It's like a big box store. You can't hold the place accountable for the quality of stuff they're selling, which varies greatly, but it seems a little overpriced. Still cheaper than new, but seriously spendy for a thrift shop. Does this stuff finance useful social programs? Any Goodwill employees want to chime in? Like many thrift and second hand shops, this place has a second-hand smell to it. Musty, like old books and the back of your elderly relatives' closets. They do a pretty good job sorting clothing and shoes and making sure the stuff that goes out on the racks is functional and not horribly stained. The place is pretty well organized. Or at least, it starts out organized. I've never seen piranhas swarming, but I imagine it's like shopping at the big Goodwill on a weekend. read more

This place is the mecca of Seattle thrift stores. It's just so massive and has the lowest prices of any thrift store I've been to. Some sections get a little cluttered from all the customers rifling through the items, but what are you going to do. After visiting this store a friend of mine said, "Why would anybody ever buy anything new. This place has everything you would ever need". While there are some thing I would never buy at a thrift store (underwear, toothbrush, etc.), I get the point she was trying to make. This goodwill has it all! read more

I like the stuff i find here, but it takes FORever to get through the checkout lines. Once i had to wait a good five minutes for a price check for the guy in front of me. The cashier apparently does not have the authority to rule that a plastic tub costs $2.00 and not $2.50. Really? its just fifty cents. This is by far the best goodwill I have ever visited. I've shopped at plenty of thrift stores all over the Puget Sound area. Based on about 5 years of experience, it is my opinion that the closer you get to downtown Seattle, the cooler stuff you can find at thrift stores. This Goodwill is the biggest and best organized thrift store in the city as far as I am aware. Some people on here will say that it is expensive, but I saw plenty of cheap stuff. The difference that I noticed is that there are some items here that were REALLY expensive when they were new. For example, earlier today, I walked out of this very store with a Paul Smith shirt (new ones retail at $250 or so, sometimes more) for $27 which would seem like a lot if you were just skimming prices and didn't recognize the brand, but it was actually a steal. I have found that other thrift stores, just don't have these type of items (and therefore the average price seems lower). I'm going to go back tomorrow and check again. I spent almost an hour in this place and didn't even see half of their offerings. read more

Goodwill is awesome. I'm at home thinking, 'man, I need a push mower.' I go to Goodwill the next day, and WHAM! I've got a push mower! I've found awesome art, clothes, and furniture here. Btw, sometimes they have 50% off furniture prices if you can take it away that day! This place is massive, and items get picked over quick. I know they tell you not to pull things from those little blue push bins when they're placing stock on the shelves, but people are like vultures and swoop on in! They have a 7 day return policy, so if you buy something and then realize you totally hate it, you can return it. And if it's past 7 days, well, you probably only spent 5 bucks anyway. read more

WOW! I was cleaning out my mother's house and had a lot of stuff to give away. Where do you take them? To your nearest Goodwill. They take EVERYTHING! There were some things that were old and dusty, dusty and rusty, bent and dent, folded, ripped, fairly new, oddly old and the list continues. The people that took your donations were really nice. They are ready with their big blue roller cart and helped you unload. I think I filled about 7 of those, packed full. The furniture and electronics, like TV and PC, are donated in a separate location by the building. After your transactions, they are happy to give you your tax donation paper...a thank you with a smile! =) I was curious what the store had after 2 truck loads of donations. I have not been here in a long time. Oh my! They have opened the walls to add more goodies. Tons of clothes and shoes when you first enter, then towards the back are the books (like a library!), electronics, furniture, household items, seasonal items, toys, etc. INCREDIBLE! Time travel into the past 5, 10, maybe 15 years. This Goodwill is well-stocked for virtually anything you can imagine. It's like they traveled back to 1991 to a Sears and brought a little bit of everything back with them. Clothing for men, women, and kids, including shoes and accessories, books, electronics, and sporting goods and more fill the racks and shelves. I even saw two bicycles (fair condition 1990s hardtail Specialized Hardrock and a Univega commuter bike) for $15-25 each! There were also cartop roof cargo boxes, piles of golf cubs, and much much more. Of course, thrift shops are like Forrest's chocolates -- "ya never know what you gonna git". I left with empty hands today as I didn't find the style or size of the gear I was seeking, but those bikes were tempting. The parking is free and in their own lot -- bus stops are right on Dearborn too. Just be sure you don't head down the "drop off" aisle of the lot, or you'll likely be waiting behind folks donating stuff just to get to a parking spot. read more

And I thought the Ballard Goodwill was amazing! This place is even better. It's massive, well organized, and had no line for the fitting room and a short line for the register on a Sunday afternoon. It's impressive that the staff keep the clothes as organized as they are for how many incoming donations and shoppers they have. This location is definitely going out of your way for. I got three pairs of workout pants (size medium and large, which normally have way worse selection than small), for under $13 total, with tax. I checked out the kitchen section briefly and didn't see the mesh strainer I was seeking, but I didn't even touch most sections of the store, such as electronics and books, all of which were huge. It was HUGE and extremely organized, and every single employee that we came in contact with was so nice! There is a free parking lot which was busy but we found a spot after a few minutes. Prices are a little higher than other Goodwills I have been to but nothing outrageous, just something to keep in mind. read more

Love this store.The store is huge and I have never made it through the entire store-I have gone regularly for years!It's because I already have a cart full within the first 45 mins and out of room to put anything else...unless I have someone with me...then I fill up 2 carts and head the register to make my purchase.I have spent a lot of money at this store and everything was worth every penny ...the only disappointment i have ever had was when they closed temporarily due to the pandemic.I happened to be doing a job that was close by and I passed this Goodwill everytime I came and left work and it was devastating that I couldn't go in to shop.I have made up for loss time but my new job is nowhere near this store so I'm having withdrawals.Im going to have to make a special trip(trips) out there for now...and plan on spending at least one full day there.If you haven't already, check the Seattle Goodwill...you will find something you will want at a decent price everytime... read more

This place is a bitch of a place to find.... don't believe google maps its totally wrong. BUT once you get parked and find the right entrance and actually get in the door you will be amazed by the selection. Its huge! I had about two hours before work and I only scratched the surface of what they had. I didn't find anything really I will admit the selection though huge is pretty picked over, a lot of out of fashion stuff but a few diamonds in the rough. Major drawback here is the tiny lack of dressing rooms, there's only about 6 and this place is jam packed with customers so it can be a little hard to get a room. Oh yeah and here's a BIG bonus... A bargain hunter's paradise, Goodwill Dearborn is my favorite place to shop. It's true. Realize I am not at all hurting for cash. I could shop at the mall if I wanted or at many downtown boutiques. But after seeing the utter crap offered on the current retail maket, I want no part of it. Instead I'll opt for finding $6 linen skirts or $3 silk tops second-hand. Everything I could want is hidden in the racks somewhere. Lucky for me I just happen to be a size that's easy to shop for. With patience there isn't anything I can't find. With a bit of sewing know how, there isn't a look I couldn't achieve by shopping here. I guess there are 3 exceptions to that really. Shoes, undergarments & swimwear. Yeah, I won't touch those. What makes the Dearborn location unique is its size. The clothing portion is as large as many whole stores. Stretching back into the great beyond is a HUGE section reserved for furniture electronics, house wares, books and whatever else will fit back there. It's awesome. Best of all it features the great low prices Goodwill is known for. I don't even both with Salvation Army - they're way too expensive. I've been to most of the thrift stores in Seattle, and this one is the best of them all. It's huge, and it's well-organized. Every section has a big selection! Best sections: women's and men's clothes, women's shoes, books, dishes, holiday stuff, yard stuff (mowers, etc.) Things you can't find elsewhere: wedding dresses, leather jackets, working lamps, bicycles, cheap vintage furniture, sports stuff Take your time here; you'll need it! But don't expect to be able to go back to retail after you get used to this Goodwill. read more

With only a couple of days to go before Halloween weekend, I was beginning to panic --- I needed a half-dozen stuffed cats, and all my thrift-store efforts so far had been in vain. A couple of people had recommended Goodwill to me, and when I finally went, I realized that this was where I should have just gone in the first place. Sure, it's a little out of the way, and yes, it's a little scary-looking there at night, especially when the occasional homeless person shambles up to you in the not-so-well-lit parking lot. But a big ol' sign across the front doors proclaims "Halloween Headquarters," and they're not wrong. This is by far the biggest thrift store I've ever seen --- in fact, I think all the thrift stores I've ever been to in my life would fit inside this one. It's basically a Costco-sized big box, with apparel and accessories in the front, and a giant warehouse-type addition in the back that has housewares, electronics, toys, books, and who knows what else. The book section is impressively large and organized by genre, not just thrown in piles on shelves, and prices are clearly marked. Currently, they're also selling some costume accessories and makeup, and it looks like they sell some inexpensive new items as well (gloves, hats, socks, candy). I was on a mission, so I headed straight back to the toy section, which had an entire aisle of stuffed animals. Alas, they're not organized by species, so I had to root through the piles for a while to dig up enough cats. But at 2 for $1, you really can't beat the price, and it seems like they toss the nastier stuff --- all the animals on display were clean and nice-looking, and completely free of drool or sinister stains. I've heard that Goodwill is kind of snobbish about what donations they will and won't accept, but I have to admit that the end results are much appreciated. Checkout is quick and painless, and they keep enough registers open to make it fast and efficient --- there's even an express line for 5 items or less. I even got a big shopping bag that accommodated all my cats, rather than the usual ratty-looking recycled grocery bags that most thrift stores try to cram your stuff into. This place might very well be the Platonic ideal of thrift stores: large, clean, well-organized, and efficient. Goodwill is well worth the trip, especially if you're looking for bulk quantities of stuffed toys to affix to your clothing for Halloween. read more

You Naughty Cavernous Den of Second Hand Loveliness. This place is effing huge, one of the largest I have ever been in. From fake leather pants to 8 track players...all your thrifty-ass needs are covered. I would say the only strike against them was the men's clothing section organization...the sizes are completely mixed, nothing makes any sense. Most of my best finds are the ones that jump off the rack and it can be quite the punch in the huevos when you see that choice piece in the "M" section only for it to be a "XXL". Not quite that tailor made fit. I did find 2 choice shirts though and 1 I thought was pimpin, but it turned out some one cut the shirttails by about 5 inches. But then that is part of the adventure, I mean its at Goodwill for a reason right!?! read more

Huge, full of cool stuff, and despite it's popularity not picked clean of anything of interest. Reasonably priced too, compared to some other Goodwills. Seriously though this one is MASSIVE. Make sure to have plenty of time to browse because you'll need all of it. I scored most of what I need for my halloween costume, a decent digital camera for $5 that I won't have to worry about losing while drunk, and a cool Ford Motor Co. inventory branded Swingline stapler that'll be right at home in my parent's auto shop. Passed over a ton of stuff I'd normally be interested in but wouldn't want to lug back home too. They are extremely unprofessional and rude and obvious about the fact that they may be watching someone or they think someone is stealing which is also called being judgmental because I know they thought that I was stealing and I wasn't and I have spent a lot of money in that store and I have all my receipts which I will take a picture of all the receipts that I have spent money in that location alone and they treat me as if I have stolen what because I'm half black? Exactly why do they categorize me especially as someone who spends money every time I go there so it's absurd and the loss prevention has an issue with every single person that they catch maybe because they're approach is unprofessional and rude and abrasive yeah people should not be stealing obviously and everybody kind of gets a little heated up but there's a certain way to go about it there's a professional way to go about it there's a way to go about it to where it doesn't escalate the situation which is what they do make it worse and laugh argue yell and engage in that ludicrous and behavior this is a non-profit organization everything they get is donated to them they don't lose any money so the fact that they have lost prevention like that is just ugly it's not a good look for Goodwill and this location quite honestly staff is rude judgmental I'm professional not helpful and just watch I mean it's a bit much honestly you need to read training program for that location and better yet fire everybody and start fresh that's how bad it is I get treated like s*** and I'm a good customer. read more

Going to the Glitter Sale here last year was one of the craziest, yet most fun shopping experiences of my life. My friend and I got there at about 8am and waited in line. After rushing in we started slowly then ran to the back and staked the vintage area and racks. HOLY LORDDDDD, I got a faux retro pink tulle prom dress (with a jammed zipper sadly, but for 10 bucks, it was great), a blue & red flower print dress from the 60s, an all over silver sequined 80s sweater, a silver sequined belly dancer's halter top and a white sequined stretch belt (I like sequins, okay?). I can't wait for this year. Bring a slip or bathing suit. And maybe a brick in your handbag if someone tries stealing your vintage fur coat. I know I will bust out my death stare if need be. read more

This is the biggest Goodwill I've ever been to and they have pretty much every kind of thing you can think of. They have 2 connected buildings, one with clothes, the other with housewares and books and things of that nature. I came to look for some elements of my Halloween costume and left with those plus a new shirt and a bunch of new matching dishes. Who can go to Goodwill and not leave with extra stuff?! I think this is my favorite Goodwill (aside from the Outlet stores) because the store is so big. The front section of the store is where the clothes, shoes, and collectibles are located. The back part is where books, housewares, glasswares, furniture, electronics, and toys are stored. I always start in the back and work my way through the aisles to the front They just finished remodeling (ripping out the old carpet and polishing the concrete floor), so it was a little chaotic for a couple of months then, but now the store looks so clean! They have also made the aisles wider so they're a bit easier to get through, although it's still a pain if you're stuck behind more than one person with a cart. I don't really tend to look at books or clothes here anymore because I've been spoiled by the Goodwill Outlet stores, but they always seem to have a good selection of everything whenever I do look. The key to thrift store shopping is that it's ok to leave the store without buying anything. If I bought something every time I went to a thrift store I'd be buried in stuff I don't need. This location also gets bonus points for putting little kid drawings in the collectibles department. read more

This hands down now my favorite goodwill, which sucks because im not from Washington! I drove all the way up from Portland, because my boyfriend had a work related thing to do and I wanted to spend some time thrifting and this place was nearby, I stopped by on a whim but what caught my attention was the fact that it has over 100 reviews and more than 2 stars. (Which most goodwills, are rated) Boy, let me tell you: this place is HUGE. It's like? 5x the size of a typical good will. The store is split in half between housewares and clothing. I didn't stop to look at the clothing - I came here to look for housewares. I honestly didn't know if I would find anything here because there's so much to sort through and it's so big it's not organized like a typical goodwill is. I was kind of overwhelmed, felt like I needed more arms and hands and maybe an extra leg or two to handle this place. Immediately I found a wicker bookshelf, 12.99, matches my peacock wicker chair back home perfectly. Along with that I picked up a metal Budweiser sign for my boyfriend. Prices were typical goodwill, items and merchandise were totally better than any other goodwill I have ever been too. EVER. I don't like to share my scores but since I don't live in Washington I'll share this one. Definitely pop in if you have some time? You will need to set a few hours aside to comb through this place. Yelp math: 3 stars for the normal Goodwill part of this store, with an extra 1 star added for the special events it holds = 4 stars. This Goodwill is huge but the selection is somehow still not great. However, I will go down there for special events, like the Glitter Sale and a recent bike sale. Compared to some of the other Seattle Goodwills, especially Ballard and Shoreline, this one is not the best. there is a LOT of junk. a LOT. and I rarely find a great find here, EXCEPT at the Glitter sale, which is a whole other thing and very worth your while. BTW, if you see coverage of the Glitter Sale (which happens around the holidays) and see mention of going early and standing in line . . . either go early and stand in line, or wait until Sunday. My friend and I thought "oh we will just go and get in line a half hour before opening . . " no! We stood in line for hours! The Glitter sale is a must-see, but they say they put stuff out all weekend, so no need to stand in line on Saturday morning if you are not into that type of thing. read more

CDs for $3 - - - - for music that isn't that old either?!?! Books for less than a buck or two?? Gently used furniture? All sorts of bakeware, silverware, glasses, plates and anything else you can put in your kitchen? This place has been a lifesaver for me. I've found so many good deals here on stuff I needed for around the house, but wasn't willing to pay full price for. (think - a serving plate that you'll probably use once or twice. Rather than pay $20 at xyz department store, I paid $2 here, and it looks brand new!) Watch out for their tag sales - every day they put a different colored tag on sale. ie - green tag sale, in which all green tags are 50% off. Also, after major holidays they have 50% off everything, or 50% off holiday merchandise. They've done a lot of work to try to get things more organized and cleaned lately (they rearranged the whole back room 6 months or so ago).
