Driving up at first we thought we made a mistake and were directed to a donation center, but no, this really is a Goodwill showroom. They have a lot of floor space and high ceilings which is nice so it doesn't feel claustrophobic. What they don't have is interesting merchandise. They had some pretty good DVDs and there was a $3 new elf hat they had near the checkout register, but other than that, I couldn't find anything I wanted. Even though I know their inventory is based on what's donated to them, usually Goodwills are nice places to find surprises. this particular location didn't have any of that for me, but that's okay. I'll visit again when I'm in the area, but this particular visit was underwhelming. read more

Y'all..... i usually do not post and write these type of reviews but the experience that I just had was not ok. Went here around 8pm with my son. I always frequent this Goodwill a lot since I always find good things. BUT this particular interaction had made me so mad to reconsider coming here for good. I was just looking around for items to buy and I come across this automatic trash can in the toiletry aisle that is marked $9.99. I did not think anything of it at the time and thought it was a really good deal and snagged it up. When I went to check out, a worker, a lady with glasses and light brown hair comes up to my cart and rips off the tag and says it is not $9.99 but $89.99. She then shows me a picture on her phone of the price tag. At this point I'm even too stunned to speak because I don't know if she was accusing me of switching the tags on there but this was in front of other customers and workers too. I told her to check the cameras (because that's the only way I could prove to her that I FOUND IT THAT WAY, and it was definitely not me that switched the tags) and she said there is no security. I continue to check out and just take it as it is cause I was with my baby. But as soon as I was walking to the door, I heard her say in Tagalog, that I thought I would get away with it, NOT KNOWING I CAN UNDERSTAND. Goodwill, please check your workers because it is NEVER that serious and to at least provide proof/check the cameras first before accusing someone. read more

Found some intriguing items at very good prices. This place always leaves me satisfied.

This is not the first time I have been offended with a manger/supervisor at this Goodwill, her name is Andrea (not sure if that is the proper spelling) She is consistently rude and awful to customers. Recently, my and I family watched her disrespectfully reprimand an employee in front of at least 10 people. She was so condescending and mean. Our heart broke for the employee. We had a problem with reaching an item that was placed up too high to grab, and we approached her for help, and she was dismissive and literally rolled her eyes at us and the went right back to her flirtatious conversation with a customer. She had a completely different demeanor with them. We had to climb on the shelving to get our item down and it was a bit of a dangerous feat. We shop in this store often, sometimes twice a week. This was not a bad day for her, this type if thing happens often from her. I finally had enough this time to speak out. read more

Often difficult to find parking s this location. Not in my neighborhood so it took a few tries and a few months for my first visit. Adequate book section, not the biggest, but good selection. Quite a few dvd's, some VHS. Housewares nicely displayed-not so jammed like downtown. Not the biggest place, but like the Monroe, WA store, has quality items. Friendly staff. read more

I always seem to find good bargains at this location and today was no exception. The friendly staff and good customer service makes it enjoyable to shop here. An associate by the name of Savannah took time to help me sort out items that were mixed up from another bag. She later assisted me at the jewelry counter where I purchased a necklace and bracelet. It's nice to know this location still has a jewelry counter. Alot of the other locations did away with that and now have their jewelry in individual plastic bags hanging on racks, which is very time consuming!! I hope this location doesn't change to that. read more

The Southcenter Goodwill is one of my favorite Seattle locations and I go there regularly. If you're willing to make the drive out there, it's worth the trip! Although it's a bit out of the way, the store is one of the larger ones, so the selection is pretty good. The women's clothing department, in particular, is better than other locations, especially for dresses -- they seem to carry better labels here, even designer stuff. The housewares department is also quite large, so if you're looking for appliances, cooking tools, bakeware or serveware, this is a good store to check out. Because it has so much floor space, this store also has lots of furniture, usually including some couches, armchairs and dining chair sets. They also have a big selection of sporting goods and equipment. The building is older and a bit run-down, but well maintained -- it always seems clean and organized, even when it's busy. The fitting rooms stay clean and aren't scary, and there's usually someone nearby to let you into a fitting room. During the holidays, they have a fairly large seasonal department with trees, ornaments and decor, holiday dishes and apparel. Like other stores, they create little seasonal displays on the islands on top of the clothing racks, so if you're looking for seasonal decorative items, it's worth walking through the aisles just to see what's on those displays. The worst thing about this store is probably the parking situation. The front lot is small compared to the size of the store, and the way the donation drop-off lane is set up makes it harder to park in the smaller side lot. On busy Saturdays, you might have to stalk someone back to their car or lurk in the lot for a few minutes until a spot opens up! While it may seem like there's additional parking next door at Seattle Chocolates, that's a separate lot and they are open on weekends, so I don't recommend trying to park over there if you're shopping at Goodwill. Overall, though, this is one of the better Goodwills in the area, definitely less picked-over than the Dearborn or Capitol Hill locations. Keep an eye out for colored tag discounts and you can score a real bargain! read more

Walking in here is like a goodwill , the smell , but as you'd look at the prices , ohhh wow , is like shopping at a new store , jeans for $24,00 ? &27, 00? Used clothing ? Mine as well go to JCPenney or Kohls and get bonus pints , very , very pricey for a goodwill , which they get stuff donated , aren't goodwills stores for lower income ? Well , may I say , lower income cannot shop here anymore, very sad , homeless people ? Nope cannot afford it , I saw a homeless man asking for clothes , the person told him No , what happened ? Also some of the employees are very , very rude , not courteous at all , some treat you like you're shopping at Neiman Marcus ? Is a good will store for the poor , Stop rising the prices , let the homeless and the lower income shop again, and PLEAEE don't be soooo rude and to that manager lady , please lady be kinder and nicer to customers , so I recommend this goodwill ? Returned for some polo shirts and to check out the everyday stuff... seeing all this made me realize we could be "recycling our buying" by buying recycled products and cutting down on waste more... I mean, a SH!TLOAD of this stuff is still okay---especially things like cups and clothes for doing work around the yard or volunteering doing dirty stuff. Alot of the cups here washed at home are practically the same like the new stuff out in the box stores. Someone's junk can be another person's [useful] treasure! read more

staff need to honor your policy, DO NOT mislead the customers. I was told in order to get a senior discount you have to be 62 years. I paid for my item, spent $97. As soon as I got to my car, I decided to go back to the store to return some items. I told the cashier that bough all of these in hoping I'd get senior discount since I didn't get the discount, I wanted to return some item. she took the receipt, did the return and told me that she couldn't give me credit to my credit card account but she could only give me an in store gift card. I asked her WHY? She said, because you didn't change your mind right away. Anyway, bad experience in there. PLEASE GET THEM TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR POLICY. Shame on you Goodwill! I was just in your Tukwilla store. The teller had asked me if I would like to round up my purchase by .75 cents for charity, which I did. The next woman was buying a belt for $2.25 to hold up her pants. She only had $1.75 and asked if the teller would accept that. The teller refused to give her the 50 cents discount. I of course gave her the money, but was appalled that Goodwill has no problem asking for charity but refused to give it. I later saw the woman putting on the belt. read more

Definitely in my top 5 best thrift shops in WA. There book section is amazing as well as quality finds in furniture and women's clothing (workout, swimwear, and jeans). Book are was huge! lots of current popular fiction hardbacks, classic authors, and of course many copies of Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, and Lord of the Rings. A lot of the times are in vary good shape and the staff is clearly always busy. Picked up a dining table for the boyfriend's apartment and they staff was helpful in moving out the back of the store (where people do a car donation drop off though drive-thru style). We were able to have enough space to break down the table and load it into my car. Will probably come back for more books soon. WOOHOO! read more

I went to this location for the first time last night to see what towels and linens they had since I had gotten inpatient with waiting for the Redmond store to get something I liked. I found the perfect towels/hand towels/washcloths and they are in great condition! The ivory w/ brown or gold floral reversible patterns are Liz Claiborne, 100% cotton. The light brown towel is a bath sheet, Costco Charisma brand. I used to own 4 different sets and several bath sheets from this brand, and are the best I have ever had. I think the bath sheets used to cost around $13-16? While searching sales online recently, the cheapest new ones from a high quality brand were on sale for $20. The chocolate hand towel is an off brand, but 100% cotton and super soft. I paid $3/ea for the towels, $1/ea for the hand towels and $1 for 2 wash clothes. They weren't on the weekly sticker sale, but $16 for at least $100 if they were new, and honestly, why pay that? Purchasing gently used goods, or up-cycling goods is great for the environment, puts more money in your pockets to enjoy other hobbies/financial goals, yet you can create the home/work environment you feel at peace in. Also, shopping at stores like Goodwill, or Salvation Army, St. Vincent de Paul, etc., supports our local community programs focused on our neighbors who need a little help or trying to better their lives. Everyone who knows me, knows I love a good deal/sale, and nice things, but also knowing that shopping at a thrift store is helping build a better, stronger community is an even better feeling! read more

Great variety of clothes and the cashiers were so nice and helpful, but the office manager was petty and rude. my friend and i were standing out of the way of people because we were trying to find a mirror so she could see the flannel she tried on and he walked past and gave us a weird look and said "sorry dont mean to interrupt" being petty asf and it was gross. read more

I was coming here pretty regularly - like every weekend. Today was the first time I've been by in about a month. I've had issues with the man working in the book department. He refuses to move his cart from the center of the aisles, and will literally shoulder push you to get where he needs to go. Trust me, it's happened to me and I witnessed him stepping on another lady's foot without apologizing as well. I'm not the only one annoyed by him either, I've heard multiple others conversations in the aisles about how rude he is. There are 2 aisles of books here dude, you don't need to bring your cart with you everywhere. Pick up the books and walk 5 feet to where you need to go, and stop hitting people with your cart. I didn't see him on this visit - though I didn't look at books - but he is my primary reason that I stopped coming here. I have spoken up to management about it. Makes it hard to shop when your employees aren't letting you. Otherwise this location is still just okay - it smelt really bad in there today though. Biggest complaint (besides the guy I talked about above) is that this place is really dirty. Wasn't this bad a few months ago, it was actually rather clean. Floors are sticky and covered in dirt. I saw someone break a glass in the store one time. I watched him try to kick the shards of glass under the rack, which just spread the pieces out more. I told an employee and she just said okay, and went back about hanging clothes. I went back to the area before I left about 10 minutes later and the glass was still all over the floor. Still quite overpriced too. $8 for used Starbucks mugs? Ya'll are crazy. No wonder I see the same items sitting on the shelves for months. read more

Who would have thought that Southcenter is a big destination for thrifting. Not me! This Goodwill is also huge (like Value village) and if you are super dedicated, you can browse here for a few hours. There are just so many racks here. The book section has one of the best thrift store book selections. The pricing is fairly standard - there are only like 2-3 prices - and the selection is very wide. I picked up The Life of Pi in like new condition for only $1.99. There was even a section full of textbooks and I picked up a marketing textbook for a whopping $2.99! The clothing was okay. I saw a lot of Forever 21, Gap, Abercrombie, Hollister etc. type clothing. Prices seem a tiny high, usually hovering around $5-$10 for somewhat ratty clothing. I did find a Rock and Republic shirt for about $5. read more

My favorite thing to shop for at this location is pictures and frames- they always have a good selection at a cheap price. I got a very cute multi picture frame pictured below, for only $5. I also noticed when I visited the store today it was super clean and organized, and a few employees greeted me and asked how I was doing, which doesn't usually happen. I didn't visit this location much in the past, but I feel like after my good experience today I will make sure to come back. This is my second favorite Goodwill (the first one is the Goodwill in Burien) and my review of this Goodwill store will likely mimic the Burien one since both are identical. The only difference is their location. This Goodwill is in Southcenter which is still relatively close to where I live. It is slightly bigger than the Burien store and I stress slightly. Many things are to be found here. The shoe section is great. Clothing section is incredibly varied. The book section is a bit lacking and it never seems to be organized right but thoughtless costumers are probably to blame for that. There is a great section of housewares in the back. Not too much furniture though if that is what are you seeking. Although there are many Goodwill locations to choose from I'd give this one a shot if I were you. read more

This visit I found a $10 pair of like-new Ferragamo Shoes. I also found a batgirl costume for my little one for $2.99 and tons of other great stuff. They have a new 'high end' area with bags up to $60 and designer brands, the shoes I found were in the regular rack, clearly missed in that roundup and price points as some of the shoes were up to $20. This one has a great selection of high quality kids clothing, a smaller but well stocked furniture/ home goods area and tons of women's and a decent amount of men's clothing. I agree with Jeanny, the parking lot is small and when I was there trying to leave, it would have been fitting for either keystone cop music or a grand classical piece while three cars, including mine, tried to get in and out at the same time. It was less graceful than a dance but clearly well choreographed as I did get out eventually. The staff are friendly and usually a bit kooky, which of course, I appreciate. read more

Pretty large, fairly clean, and they have a decent selection from what I can tell. However -- my true reason to recommend this place. It is the best bookstore ever. Books range from $0.50 to $3. Selection and quality are not reliable by any means, but they definitely carry a lot of bestsellers (I've gathered almost the entire Harry Potter series for instance) and they do have some obscure stuff that I've been pretty surprised to find. Worth a try if you're a book lover who, in this digital age, still enjoys the feel of pages in your hands... while not shelling out too much for it. We were early to pick up someone at the airport and pulled out our handy listing of local Goodwills. Located in one of those mystery 'middle' streets near Southcenter Mall, I'm glad we had GPS to guide us over. The parking lot was smallish, but at least there wasn't a bottleneck of people dropping off donations. The store has really high ceilings, is bright and well lit and had a decent selection of clothes. So decent, that I bought a shirt I owned a few years ago but donated because it was a medium. Found it in a large here and bought it. SCORE! Love it when that happens. :) We found some interesting wall art and I got one for 2.99 because there was no price on it. The first time we went, we were not impressed, the second was a little better, but it was the third time that really sealed the deal that we would not return. Pro's · Manager is friendly and ready to make things right · Abundant inventory · Nice floor staff · Unique items · Convenient hours (open until 9:30 p.m) Con's The person that does the pricing is rude and arrogant Very expensive compared to other local Goodwill locations Most items are, literally $3.00 more, on average than other locations Summary- This location is not one of my favorites, although they have some great items. I happened to find an item that I wanted to purchase and put it in my cart. The pricing "person" came over to my basket and told me that the item I had in my cart was the wrong price and took it out of my cart and walked away with the item. Once she repriced the item, she returned it to the shelf, did not let me know it was there and walked back into the back and did not come back out the rest of the time we were there. We contacted a manager on duty and we were told that he could not adjust the price nor could he honor the storewide 205 discount being offered that day on furniture, on this particular furniture item. We asked him to hold the item, we called the Seattle store, got the name of the manager, told the Seattle manager what happened and left. During all this, the gentleman that was helping us (a worker, not the manager) was called to the back. My girlfriend was on fire! When the man returned, she asked the man if he had gotten in trouble and she found out that he "may have". He next morning at opening, my girlfriend was on the phone with the manager. She not only stated that the employee did not get into trouble, but that we could come and get the item for the price it was when we placed it in the basket and get the 20% off our entire order. We just got that item and left. We found a cup at this location for $5.99 (a coffee mug) and a cup at another location (the same one) for $.69. Their prices are outrageous. I do not recommend this Goodwill... go to Ballard. Use the additional money you'd spend here on the gas to get there. read more

Today" my husband and I encountered a terribly rude ignorant staff lady, with a big mouth! My husband is exempt from wearing a mask according to Gov. Inslee's mandate, and even has the paperwork to prove it. We came into the store and started walking and all of a sudden, heard this loud yelling from clear across the store. This loud mouthed gal yelled sir, sir and he didn't hear her, as he has hearing issues even with hear aids. She yelled he needed a mask and I told her he was exempt and she proceeded to yell, no. I told her exemptions are a mandate from the Governor and she yelled, not in my store. So, needless to say, we were very upset and left the store. The mandate says the business must ask, but when told the person is exempt, that's to be the end of the conversation. This store did not belong to her , as she implied. She was illegal in doing this act of rudeness. She was not going by the mandated rules. We went to another Goodwill, just to check the situation out and had a staff person ask, but told he was exempt, she said ok and walked away. read more
