This is my local goodwill, I've become a regular here checking for all sorts of hidden treasures, this is one of the middle of the road goodwills, they are generally pretty clean but very busy. They have a good selection of clothes. The racks in the back are pretty hit or miss, the keep them pretty organized but more often than not it's a big thumbs down of a selection. Buyer beware, if you're in the market for something specific you'll probably find it but not a great place to generally peruse. read more

They must think they are running a consignment store or something. $4.99 seems to be their baseline price across the board for merchandise, and then it goes up from there. And when I say it goes up, let me tell you, IT GOES UP!!! $24.99 for a used pair of outdated Lululemon workout pants that have been sweated in/worked out in, junky sweaters from grandma's closet for $7.99, outdated shoes for $6.99, $7.99, $8.99, dirty old used bags starting at $4.99 and going up from there....Tell me when to stop. Also weird, overly aggressive shoppers, like dogs in heat, rifling through the clothing items like crazy people. The store is also filthy. Need I say more? If you think you are going to find a treasure in here think again. If you are looking for generalized home merchandise or books or little tchotchkes, save yourself the headache and go to Home Goods or Big Lots or Tuesday Morning, for an extra couple of dollars you can get brand new home items. And if high end, name brand clothes are your jam, hop on nearby I-294 and go on over to the Rosemont Factory Outlet, it's just a fifteen minute trip from here, and for ten or fifteen dollars more you can get yourself brand new, not used and sweated in, Lululemon exercise pants. Avoid this place like the plague. Shame on you, Goodwill, for your price gouging on items that are donated to you!!! read more

Prices were kinda high at this goodwill but everything was well organized and the staff was helpful. I found a purse that was $8 and I hated spending that much at a thrift store but it looked like a quality piece. Later I googled the brand and learned it was about a $350 purse! So you can find some top brands at this location. There's plenty of parking available. Overall a pleasant shopping experience. read more

I'm surprised there are so many negative reviews here, I've found many gems through the years. There are sale days where a certain color tag is half off and that's where the magic happens. I've gotten brand-name clothes and housewares for a fraction of the cost. On the donation side, the employees are helpful and courteous. Awful place. I have been to a few Goodwill stores and this is the worst. Useless junk. I never see anything at all interesting. I still occasionally stop by - hope springs eternal. Same results. Yesterday, I went in just to find a cheap vinyl LP record to test my turntable and was flabbergasted to see that they have raised the price from 99 cents to $1.99! For the absolute dregs of the records issued of all time. Elevator background. If you like Sing Along with Mitch Miller, Lawrence Welk, Bert Kaempfert and the like, you are in the right place. They think that because vinyl has become popular again, they can gouge for this junk. They clearly cherry-pick anything half way decent to sell on ebay. Then, on my way out I spotted a well used flannel shirt that looked attractive - until a closer look and the price: $6.99. Last week I bought new Izod flannels at Kohl's for $19.99. I'm going to update my review. This location has become one of my favorites to shop! There is a lot of money in the surrounding areas so I've found beautiful items here over the years, like pristine Stuart Weitzman boots, new with tag Madewell pants, designer dresses, etc. I actually don't do donations here much anymore, as the location closer to my house has a drive thru/ separate area that's more convenient for donating (Aka less of a cluster). But I will continue to shop here for sure! read more

This Goodwill doesn't have enough space for merchandizing. We found a bit difficult to go through the electronic department without being interrupted. The aisles are much smaller in this location. While the aisle width in apparel departments appeared to be adequate for several shopping carts to go by, the aisles in the electronic department were clogged by a number of old-electronic junkies, with their buggies left on the aisles or in-between aisles. Although they had a good inventory on old electronics (80's and 90's Walkman, portable radios, cassette players, and cameras), they didn't have enough room to merchandize them. That was why people were all aggregated in a concentrated area. On the other hand, the women's ready-to-wear department was slightly lackluster. There wasn't much to inspire a retail artist like myself. I, however, did find a random genuine virgin-wool hat at the "VHS tape" section. It was left on top of the shelf, and I happened to spot it with my keen vision. For $4.99, it wasn't too bad of the deal. Apparently, the Goodwill has their own reward program with the Goodwill reward card. It's not a credit card, but I don't think there's a need for getting one. As of right now, I don't frequent the Goodwill regularly because there's only one (1) location in the city (in near west side on Washington Blvd). Well, never say never. It's a mediocre location. Stop by if you want, yet I wouldn't recommend to make a point coming here. read more

One of the nicer, fancier Goodwill's I've been to in recent times. Actually, I've never been to a Goodwill that had big flat screen TVs above the register playing trivia questions so you can stay entertained while waiting in line. The staff here were friendlier and more proactive about helping customer's than at pretty much any non-commision-based name brand retail store. The aisles were neat and tidy with only issue being that the far right side of the store with all the tchotchkis and records and furniture has aisles that are pretty tight to squeeze through if someone with a cart happens to be in the aisle, but I've noticed this is unfortunately becoming pretty standard at most stores. They had a lot of decent brands, the clothing was in good condition and they had a better selection of up-to-date styles than other Goodwill's, though I still haven't broken down and purchased anything yet. But admittedly, I was thisclose to buying a VHS of the cartoon version of The Hobbit that I loved as a kid. read more

I arrived at 5:02 to drop off two bags to donate. Had loaded three kids in the car to do this errand. The man saw me bringing the bags out. He knocked on the door and waved his finger no at me and refused to take the items. Knowing that I was dropping these off out of the "goodwill" of my heart to donate it felt a little unkind and unnecessary that he wouldn't open the door to take the items two minutes after they closed. read more

First time and last time and this location! First off this location is a disaster, stuff all over the floors,and all walkways blocked. However my biggest problem with this store is that I paid for a couch with plans to return the next day to pick it up only to have the store manger call me. 30min later to say MY COUCH had been sold and already loaded and taken away by somone else!!! She offered a refund and a lack of explanation as to what went wrong. So do yourself a favor and skip this mess of a goodwill! read more

Worst goodwill location... nothing is organized and the store is super small/overcrowded. They need to hire more staff.

Since this is where I met and made a new friend this summer, it's become my favorite GW! I was in the check-out line ahead of an attractive woman, and noted that she had at least 3 items I had made myself put back on the shelf because I did not want my husband to start divorce proceedings against me for bring them home! So I knew we had to have something in common. Back to why I like this store. As Candace G. stated, it's shiny and new. The housewares get pretty clogged with bins and carts but that is because it is really busy and new items are coming in on a constant basis. I have found awesome items there: barely worn ankle boots by Liz Claiborne - older but now back in style on the chunky style but not out-dated. $4.99. woolen scarves galore in the $1.49 women's bin; great lightweight turtlenecks for $3.99. The housewares department is great. I have found brand new items from Crate & Barrel, copper pots, vintage crystal and china, sewing and crafting notions. Best buy recently was a vintage (no wear to speak of except missing buttons) 100% wool coat full length, double breasted with brass buttons, $6.99. I have already located the replacement buttons from a Button factory in Waterbury Connecticut. This coat is super warm and stylish with my boots - and a great blue color. Looking on Pinterest and Polyvore I could only dream of a coat like this from Burberry or Ralph Lauren or Gucci.... read more

The customer service at this location is horrible!!!!!!!! No one says hello or even smiles at you. I would say "thank you" and the employees I encountered never said "your welcome." i haven't been here for several months due to the pandemic, etc. this is where i go for clothes shopping because as a trans person, this location is much more chill about that than some other locations available to me. while not restricted to this location, the membership card allows for a discount coupon of 25% on your birthday month (if you're born november 30th you have from november 1st thru november 30th for example. if yours is december 1st it's december 1st thru december 31st & so forth). what this means is that you bring your friends with you to use you birthday coupon & then you allow go with them on theirs etc. personally, i like the downers grove location more as they're lower priced & have more knick-knacks, but because clothes are more useful to me than knick-knacks & downers grove is too far away, i prefer this location. the one a block north of harlem & cermak is underwhelming to say the least, but because they're only 2 blocks away from public transit, while this location is like 3-4 miles away from public transit, if i don't have someone to carpool with, then i go to that location to make donations. so this store is rather high-price, but we have other boutiques around here like the hope chest that make this place look tame. plus, i could get like keyboards, knick-knacks, games, sometimes bicycles over at this westchester location, which makes this place a lot more versitile with its selections/offerings. people be complaining about how it's overpriced, which is fair because i don't have much money at all, but i grew up on a thrift store that died in an electrical fire, with much more let's say modest selections, so this place in comparison to what i grew up on looks like a thirft store version of target but with narrower aisles, more clothes, and stuff you'd give away at christmas, or would buy if you had no furniture & rather broke. point being, i don't go here much, but it's one of the few places i can go to without starting a charge-card account & be able to stock up (or at least have people gift me a shopping spree for special occassions). the aisles before covid would probably be unacceptable now, so when they say they enforce distancing, i would expect they do so attentively. i haven't been there yet, but yeah, i'm looking forward to it. read more

This location has INSANE prices for the broken, dirty and unusable items. I was in there today to pickup a stack of books for my daughter, I found a good selection. When I went to the register the clerk informed me that childrens books are now $2.99. I asked why. she replied " we scan them and if they are on the Amazon Best Seller list, we price them at $2.99" I laughed and I scanned the lift-the-flap first 100 farm words book in front of her to show that her information she told me was wrong and she could not have cared less. I didn't buy any of the 9 books I chose. read more

There was so much clutter on the shelves could barely see what was for sale. Very disorganized and no room to move thru the store. Prices were good just very clutter. Need more shelves so things are spaced out and in order. Very messy! read more

This Goodwill is really hit or miss. I do like the employees a lot, though. Furniture selection is pretty terrible. Lots of new Target boxed stuff, if you're into that. Books are ok. Toys are good. Clothes are pretty good. Housewares are great. read more

This is THE best Goodwill around. I feel like they price things appropriately as opposed to some of the other Goodwill locations. I've found quite a few gems here in the past couple of weeks. If you're interested in thrifting for fun and view it as a treasure hunt, the Goodwill Stores are NOT for you. Goodwill isn't what it used to be. It used to be fun to shop here. I rarely set foot in the store anymore because they pull the really good donations in order to sell them on eBay. What's left over for the shoppers in the brick-and-mortar Goodwill stores? In a word, JUNK. The quality of the items that are left over is poor. Today I saw for sale items that were broken and stained. I saw a jacket on the rack getting ready to be put out for sale that had an obvious broken zipper. It was priced at $7.99. What a joke. My husband was looking at a piece of furniture. Upon closer review, the piece was broken. They used to have designer items for sale. Now all those are clearly pulled so that they can milk more money on eBay. It's more like "GoodGreed" than "Goodwill." There are other options for discount shopping in our region. If you are shopping on a budget, you're better off shopping at a place like Kohls with all the discounts they offer. You get better prices for new merchandise and not much more money if you shop new at department stores. And if you want to treasure hunt, your time is better spent going to TJ Maxx or Homegoods. Because for not much more money, you can buy new. I no longer donate to Goodwill either, because our local community is not benefitting from having good things for sale for people on a budget. I do not want my items, which they are getting for free, to end up on eBay. All to pad the salaries of the Goodwill CEO Hallberg and her executive team, I imagine. Because I don't see how this place benefits local shoppers or the community. It's not right. Don't waste your time. read more

Good sized store with good selection. Very clean and organized. Nice selection of kids clothes. The store is in a large strip mall so plenty of parking. There's always plenty of shoppers. The staff isn't the greatest. But I rarely need to talk to them anyway. Worth a visit if you are close by. read more

the only reason for getting 3 * is because this location has a very limited selection for men's clothing. their book selection is awesome however. and everybody from their employees except the cashier that we had was nice. greeting the customers with a smile is a good thing to see. nowadays its the customer service that will keep the people going back to the place. if in the area again will definitely go back. read more

I went in the store to purchase a piece of furniture. I realized I forgot my checkbook at home so I asked an employee if I could run home and grab it and if they could put the item on hold. I was told by 2 managers absolutely not, that the furniture was not selling and would be here when I would get back. I came back 20 minutes later and the item was sold. The next day I was told I could have the item if the person did not pick it up by 9 am. I called at 10:30 am and the item was not picked up. The manager did not stand by their word of what they originally told me of getting the item if it had not been picked up. I told the manager I was going to write a bad review and she stated well that's on you buddy. Very unprofessional and rude employees. Now it's on them! read more
