My husband and I were traveling through on our way back to Pittsburgh and decided to stay in Frankfort for the night. Our hotel was a short walk down the street from Goodwood, so we decided on that for dinner and went on a Sunday evening around 6:30. Has more of a sports bar vibe than a brewery, but the pictures of the food looked great so that sold us. Too cold to sit outside unfortunately but looks like they have an awesome outdoor seating area! It wasn't super busy, but the service made it seem like the place was packed. We needed a couple minutes to decide, not 20. Took forever to finally order because our server was also the bartender and she seemed more interested in the guys sitting at the bar than our table. I'm glad the food was redeeming because the service was really lacking. We ordered some of the fried green tomatoes to get started, and we couldn't even finish them before our food came out. I ordered the salmon and my husband got the blackened catfish. Both great dishes!! The Cajun rice is delicious and the collard greens were the perfect side to his fish. The salmon seemed a little dry but the bourbon glaze helped make up for that. We both got a Tart N Tempered sour ale with dinner, but were never asked again about water or another drink so we chalked it up as a loss. The sweet potato beignets were incredible. Soft on the inside and sweet and crunchy on the outside. Overall the food hit the spot and it was great being able to walk there. The service and hospitality really needs some work, however. read more

Nested in the heart of downtown historic Frankfort, KY is this gem of a "brewery"/restaurant. From what I am told, beer is no longer brewed onsite. Does not take away from any aspect of the ambiance. The staff is attentive and very interactive. Quite pleasant, which is lovely. The beer list was provided via QR code, and a couple recommendations from Brandy were happily offered. Don't sleep on the Blood Orange Blonde, it's legit. Also, the Mess around and get lit beer is phenomenal. Their menu is quite extensive and offered at a good price point. Come during happy hour (3-6) to beat the crowd and save a few extra bucks. Overall, I highly recommend stopping in and checking it out. Icing on the cake is the spectacular patio perched above the KY River. Come on down y'all! read more

Went with your group as we were visiting the local distilleries. Had our food ready super quick. Everyone liked their food. Tater tots crispy and well done. Got the drunken chicken. Grilled chicken very juicy and delicious. Cheese sauce was way too much and honestly didn't need it. Sandwich was great on its own and sauce didn't add much. Having checked in to a local hotel, we asked the front desk for a good local dinner recommendation. Without hesitation the answer was Goodwood, so off we went. Perhaps it was because we were at the end of our trip, having had so many amazing meals in a short span of time, but this restaurant was probably my least favorite on our Bourbon Boys Trip. Don't get me wrong-- nothing was bad, per se; it was just all a bit lackluster. The venue was busy, but we were seated pretty quickly. Our server was nice, but service on the whole was a bit slow. The cocktails, a Smoked Rosemary Bourbon Sour and a Sour Buffalo, were good, but even after nursing then slowly, they were gone before our meal arrived. The blackened catfish and steak salad were good, but neither was outstanding. For me, the best part of the plate was the greens. When a side outshines an entree, I always raise an eyebrow. Like I said, maybe it was me... Or maybe it was just an "off" night. Would I go again? Yes; I would give it another chance, but my first impression is that it was just fine. read more

With the limited number of places to eat if you are staying in Frankfort, I think Goodwood was one of our better meals, but still didn't have consistent service. A sports bar concept - it's a good place to watch sports and spread out a bit. We came to Goodwood on a Saturday night for dinner as we stayed in Frankfort doing the bourbon trail. While we had very slow service with our waitress not coming for 15+ mins after we sat down and providing drinks quite a bit after we put in our order - we did see some tables in sections next to us with much faster service. To that end, I'd believe other reviewers saying they had great service, but unfortunately, I just don't think the service is anywhere near consistent. We ordered the drunken chicken sandwich, fish tacos, and wings between us. The food was quite good and as mentioned probably the best we had in the Frankfort area (though we only stayed ~3 days). Overall, I'd recommend goodwood if asked for a place to eat in Frankfort when looking for a casual, but good meal. read more

We stopped in for lunch and had a great meal. We ordered the chicken bread crumb patty and had the cheesy grits. The hamburger my hubs had looked really good!! He said it tasted great and he got it with a side of broccoli. They have a very large full bar and tvs for watching the games. Definitely a place to grab a beer and a meal read more

I just want to give a shout out to our server tonight Justin. My last review was not a good one. The last two times I've been there my Mac n cheese sandwich was cold and the cheese wasn't melted. I was there back in December and he was our sever as well but I was with a bigger party and I didn't say anything. But his service was awesome then as well. He is amazing. Tonight, I'm giving this place a higher review because of him. I had explained to Justine, the last few times I have been there, my food was cold. He made sure it wouldn't be this time. Our waitress was really sweet and that's about all I can say positive. When this place first opened it was really good but it's been going downhill for at least the past year or so. They got rid of the good vegetarian option awhile back and it's really hit or miss with most of the dishes. The shrimp and grits is always good but every time I try anything else it's a toss up. This visit tonight was our last time visiting bc it was so bad it just kind of ruined everyone's evening. The server, while very nice, was barely at our table at all. It took so long to order the appetizer then so long again to order a beer that we basically made her take our food order then bc we didn't know how long until she'd be back again. Food took forever, I think my sons fish took longer than everyone else's bc it was fresh but mine had clearly been sitting around long enough to not even be warm and same for all 3 of our sides. My husband's burger was warm but really burnt and crispy on the outside and lukewarm in the middle so they clearly just threw it back on to try to warm it right before they brought it out. My chicken sliders had nothing on them that they were supposed to have. It took so long to get the waitresses attention that I just started pouring mustard on them bc I was starving but they were so old and dry they were borderline inedible. When we finally got her attention for that we also asked for more water, our first (and only) refill in the almost hour we had been there. When it was time to leave we waited so long that my husband eventually just got up and got boxes for us himself . Our waitress noticed we were sitting there with our food boxed up and then came to see if we wanted our check. I normally like their beer but they were out of what I like so I decided to try the cider and it was so gross I could not even drink half of it. I don't know if they gave me the wrong thing or what but it was sooo bad. So to sum it up - we were there for about 2 hours, none of us ate even half of our meals, we only got one refill in that 2 hours that we had to wave our server down and request. They were not very busy and they were heavily staffed. Final cost was $85. Yikes. Not worth it and it really kind of soured everyone's mood which sucks bc it was supposed to be a fun little Sunday evening with the fam. There's so many wonderful places in Frankfort, especially downtown, that I just don't think it's worth giving them any more of our time or money. read more

A great find in downtown Frankfort just down the street from our Air B&B. A nice bar and a lot of tables for large groups or just a date night. Started with an Old Fashioned and pickle fries both of which were delicious. Then we had the wings and fries. Excellent cook on the wings and fries. Great service and atmosphere. read more

This place lived up to its hype! If you're not familiar with the area, as we were, and arrive from Holmes St, you might be thinking "Where is this place taking me." But as a soon as you hit the traffic circle and onto W Main St you are in the clear. We found parking street side directly in front but we saw others parking in the lot across the street. The space itself is very inviting. Our arrival (late May) had the front door open as well as the back garage style doors. But you're met with a cool breeze from the A/C. The back deck area overlooks the Kentucky River. We were seated almost immediately and had time to use the restroom before ordering drinks. I ordered the GoodWood Old Fashion and she had the Just her cup of tea. Both were strong and came out quick. We definitely recommend the Bavarian pretzel as an app, they hit it with a garlic oil, which just takes it to another level. Our waitress recommended the Bougie BLT and it did not disappoint. Drunken Chicken had a bourbon bacon jam that was mouth watering delicious. Chicken Fingers, which seem to be very basic anywhere you go, deserve praise. These were well above average and prepared with non processed chicken. Very tender and juicy with actual seasoning in the breading. Chicken Chopped salad was very good as well. Our waitress was great. Fast service but did not feel rushed out the door. This should be at the top of your list of must tries! read more

We had an excellent lunch here recently. The place is spacious with several seats at the bar area and main dining room. It was too cold to enjoy the patio, but it is spacious and overlooks the river. They are pet-friendly, but we weren't sure if our dog was only allowed on the patio, so we left him at home. I tried the flight of their bourbons and all were pretty good. My wife tried a cider and she enjoyed it. We tried the chicken sandwich and chicken wrap for lunch. The blackened chicken on them was very tasty. The staff were friendly and the service was great. Not sure if it was an off night or what, but this place was a giant let down. First I'll start with the good. The staff are super friendly. It was busy, but we were seated promptly. It took a bit to get some drinks, but that's fine for a Saturday night, so no big deal. The waitress was super attentive, even while clearly being slammed, she's the only reason they are getting even two stars (I'd give it 2.5 if it let me) The food was just disappointing. We started with some wings, they serve them sauce on the side, which I guess is fine, but the chicken as a whole just didn't seem seasoned at all. We chose the habanero mango style, and the sauce is basically liquidy hot sauce, not wing sauce. Barely any flavor at all, and you can't really get any to stick to the wing. Wings are about the sauce, so these were just a let down. Cocktails, I ordered a smoked rosemary whiskey sour, it came in a small water glass, and way too much ice. It tasted like watered down bourbon, no smokeyness, no rosemary (despite a sprig of it being in the drink), no sour, just watery bourbon. I didn't even bother finishing it. My wife ordered some bourbon tea drink, it was warm on the bottom of the cup (I guess they use hot tea?) And ice floating in the top, which obviously leads to a watered down drink again. She said once it was all the same temperature it was OK. For the food, my wife ordered the steak and some fries, the steak was cooked fine, but drastically under seasoned. The fries were good. I ordered the fish and chips. It was a mountain of unseasoned and greasy food. The chips were cold, and while the cod was clearly just out of the frier the pieces are so big that the batter just turns to mush almost immediately, especially when plopped onto a pile of cold chips which then cool the fish. Making it 4 smaller pieces instead of 2 giant ones, properly seasoning it, and taking about an inch off the thickness of the batter would go a long way. My wife and I were touring North Carolina and Frankfort KY for breweries and distilleries. We really found some gems. Goodwood is just average though. The beer was OK but the food was subpar. My $12.99 aioli cheese burger had 2 pre-made frozen, unseasoned beef. I expect handmade, seasoned beef for $12.99. I ordered a cheese burger with cheddar. My burger had a pinch of shredded cheddar. Not a cheeseburger at all. The vegetables were fresh but there was no aioli included. The side of tater tots were hard nuggets. My wife's salad was a good size entree salad but again, just average with a lot of iceberg lettuce. She certainly expected a spring mix of lettuce this time of year. There was no crowd on a weeknight evening but the service was still really slow. Our server was not attentive to us. read more
