Customer Service has gone downhill for the Goodyear FXBG Location off McWhirt Loop. I personally spoke with the new store Manager, JOEL, for a quote on spark plug replacement + oil change. The price point he gave me was approx $325. There is no denying this since 1) I wrote it down and 2) all calls are recorded on my cellphone which I can add an audio clip HTML link to this review for anyone who wants to hear it. I would never make something like that up. When I arrived to Goodyear this morning at 8AM for my appointment - after driving 65mi from Richmond at 7AM in the morning- I was shocked to discover the quote had skyrocketed by $150 dollars with no viable explanation. I immediately advised the store clerk assisting me, ROBERT, that this was unacceptable. I told him that I've been a loyal customer for years and l felt annoyed that I had blindly placed my trust in JOEL just to be bait & switched. ROBERT snarkily responded, "Well I certainly don't want you to feel taken advantage of so you can take your business to another shop and I can delete this ticket". I found his comment incredibly rude and disrespectful. Not one single "I'm sorry", empathetic statement, nor attempt at mediation. Not to mention JOEL, the store Manager who caused the entire ordeal, made sure to hide in the back office room while all of this transpired. He couldn't even look me in the eye nor bother to step in while ROBERT and I exchanged heated remarks. ROBERT lastly stated that "the new owner of the McWhirt Loop Goodyear has removed all COUPONS, DISCOUNTS, and REBATE options so I was stuck with the bill". At that point, I called my good friend Nadia at one of Goodyears competitors and explained the situation to her. She immediately put me on the schedule to have my car fixed at HALF the price JOEL initially quoted me along with a complimentary induction cleaning. So just to make sure we're on the same page: Short-Term Optics: I wasted gas, time, and energy to arrive promptly to an appointment where I was mistreated, dismissed, and embarrassed by JOEL & ROBERT. Which obviously doesn't feel good and has left a sour taste in my mouth. Long-Term Optics: not only has this Goodyear location lost MY business for the time being, they have also lost the business of my two (2) close friends who I've referred to them as well as my Brother, Mother, and Partner's business as long as JOEL remains the store Manager. I also happen to work at the GEICO Corporate Office up the street. And I'll be making a point to advise my coworkers and post multiple flyers throughout the 5 story building warning people AGAINST doing business with this location to deter as much foot traffic as I possibly can over the course of the next few months. read more

Took my car to the local Mercedes dealership for a routine oil change and state inspection. They told me my car failed the state inspection because I needed two new tires. They wanted an outrageous amount of money, so told them to just do the oil change. They put a rejection sticker on my windshield as if I had somehow earned the automotive scarlet letter for tire wire . I ended up heading over to Goodyear to purchase two new tires. They were confused and told me my tires were not only good, they were only about half way through their lifecycle. They told me they'd be glad to sell me two $500 tires, but that I DIDN'T NEED THEM. I took my car to an independent third party for state inspection and passed without an issue. Honestly like that is something that I respect deeply. These folks have certainly earned my business from now on! read more

We took my daughters car, who has been in Air Force Basic Training for several months, to Good Year on Hwy 17 in Stafford. One of the tires, that Good year recently put on, was a bad tire and needed to be replaced. We also needed the state inspection done. By the time they finished the state inspection, we had an estimate for 1800.00 to have all 4 brake rotors (which were perfectly fine according to the Virginia State Inspection Manual), 4 set of brake pads (which were perfectly fine according to the Virginia State Inspection Manual), and two shocks. The inspection manual states DO NOT REJECT if the shocks are leaking but do not interfere with the proper function of the shocks. They fail it and the shocks work perfectly fine. I spoke to the manager, and he could not have cared less. The only choice they left me with is the state police inspection license compliance officer. Once we left that shop with the vehicle, we took it to two other inspection stations who both agreed the car should have passed everything with the exception of the new tire it needed, which we already knew about. The Goodyear manager did not care that his inspection was falsely failing the vehicle to generate 1800.00 in repair, which is FRAUD. He just simply said he can't override the inspector and could not understand the concept that he was the inspector supervisor and he was liable for the actions of his employee. Please trust me when I tell you, this place cannot be trusted. The manager and employees have absolutely no integrity. They are only conducting state inspections to generate extraordinarily large repair bills to make money. AVOID IF AT ALL POSSIBLE!!! read more

So today was an adventure. I'm am from the state of Maryland. Had some car issues. Tire pressure was low. Stopped by several gas stations to put air in my tire. My first stop was at GoodYear Tire Down the street. Waited several minutes and no was able to serve me. Then stopped at Merchants. The lady service manager said they could work on my car however there was only one Technician available. Reallly a big corporation and only has one service tech?!?! She said it could take 1hr, 2hr, or longer due to other appointments which I understand but could not give me a defined time of completion. So go to America 1st Automotive and I stopped in and the guys were having lunch. But did talk to me during lunch and ask what I needed done. They service manager and mechanic answered all my questions. Needed 20mins to finish lunch and I was ok with it. Took less than 1.5hrs. I had a nail in my tire. Also talked about used car recommendations and labor rates. They are cheaper than merchants and good year. They take walkins . They also do major work, emissions and inspections. read more

I'm from out of state , I received a flat tire so i turned into Goodyear (which Is my go to with any problems) as I walked in with my two children I was listening to the conversation ahead of me and he was having the same issue . The took his keys and said it would be fine right away but when I got to the front he told me he couldn't change my tire because it's close to closing time . Closing time was 5 , I arrived at 330 . I get all my tires from good year company . I live in Fayetteville and work for good year so for them to turn me away I was really disappointed with the older tall white man in the front . DO NOT BRING YOUR VEHICLE TO THE GOODYEAR ON MCWHIRT LOOP IN FREDERICKSBURG VIRGINIA. Do not bring your vehicle to this location. I had my brakes replaced and they forgot to put the bolts back on that hold the calipers to the back plate. When I had to apply the brakes in an emergency the back plate was loose and got bent. I had no rear brakes. The only thing holding the brakes on was the wheel. The bent plate wore a gauge in my wheel. The next day I sat at Goodyear for 4 hours because they couldn't get all of the parts. They had to order a new wheel and backplate from Toyota. I had to come back today (3 days later) for simple wheel and backplate replacement. After 3 hours I was told that the axle had to be removed and taken to a Toyota dealership. That was 5 hours ago. And they have on idea when they will be done. They claimed that there are NO rental cars available but that is not true. The Hertz 15 minutes from here has plenty of cars. They think I should go and get a car. I think they should get it for me. I have talked to a number of really good mechanics. By Goodyear's negligence the rear brakes could have locked up at Highway speeds and flipped my vehicle. My son and I could have been killed. I have now lost two days pay. The only thing they will do is make repairs and brag that the mechanic doesn't work there anymore. He left right after he did my brakes. They are completely clueless that their neglect could have killed my son and me. They think they are doing me a favor by making repairs. They act like I am inconveniencing them. I am contacting an attorney and pursuing my legal options. They will do it again if they are not held accountable. STAY AWAY. UPDATE: they are trying to work on it read more

Was down South and car got flat tire so ended up sleeping in parking lot waiting for good year to open up at 8am . People(workers) started to slowly trickle in half an hour or thereafter to open up....now that wouldn't be that big of a deal but me and my mom had been in the car in the cold since 4:30am waiting for shop to open. Shop owner finally arrives and is totally condescending in that way where he's not calling my mom by her name but calling her young lady every time he opens his mouth....not in a friendly way but patronizing rude. Finally takes car and looks at it comes back telling her that tires are going to cost $1000.00 and that he's going to have to replace all of them!!!! I was shocked we had one flat tire and they were brand new why would we have to spend that kind of money on one flat tire....replace all four when only one was flat....insane!!!! Long story short we ended up going to another tire shop who were totally helpful and fixed us right up five minutes away from that Goodyear...I would never send any business there way and tel anyone who asked to take business elsewhere disappointing experience and I would never go back there. read more

Their customer service is terrible and very unprofessional. I don't recommend wasting your time coming to this place, if you have a flat tire and got your tires done elsewhere. They won't fix it and replace the tire for you, and all they will do is send you to the place where you got your tires done at. Like what happens if tire pops while driving it to where you need to go? They don't care about their customers at all, and their communication is very poor. If you are a woman, or are perceived to not know much about automobiles, stay far, FAR, FAR away from this place. The manager will attempt to deceive you in anyway that he can, which is even more so disappointing as I found out he is a fellow veteran. Needless to say, without him knowing my technical and military background, I took my crossover in for an inspection. Should've been a simple pass or fail. Wrong! I was my brakes needed replaced. They didn't. And to top it off, they attempted to tell me other things were wrong, like using the ole "hey your filter is dirty" trick...let us do this and that (because that ripoff scheme hasn't been around since atleast the 80's). First off buddy, a VA State Safety inspection does not involve removing and checking filters, and that filter you claimed to have been mine, was the same one sitting on your counter when I got there and you tried to pull the same song and dance with other customers. Others who live in my neighborhood, which is less than a mile away (especially women) have reported many other instances of deceptive practices taking place here and it has been noted on our community board not to use this place. This place (more like Manager) even went as far as to tell a person that their tire had a nail in it and could not be plugged due to its position and then proceeds to recommend replacing all tires since it was an AWD car. But yet when that tire was taken to another shop right down the road, it was discovered to be a simple brad head and nothing had punctured the tire; it was simply just stuck in the tire tread! You know...a simple wet soap or bubble test, or HELL air check would've proven this. End story..stay away from this place! They are unethical, dishonest, and a disgrace. read more

They have only ever tried to sell me something if I really needed it. The store manager is a straight forward retired army guy that's fun to talk to. My daughter was driving from NY to NC when the front tire of the rental car developed a significant golf ball size bulge. She pulled into a car dealership and they instructed her not to drive very far. I called this Goodyear tire store and spoke with Chelsea who researched tire options and prices, confirmed the right tire was in stock and welcomed my daughter upon arrival. Aaron replaced the tire even though it was end of day. It was anticipated the rental car company would pay for the tire, but they are indicating my daughter may have to pay for the tire. Aaron has sent a letter with pictures of the tire indicating the cause was a tire failure and not as a result of her scuffing a curb or running over an object resulting in the tire damage. CROOKS! I recently went for an inspection and oil change. They rejected the car and told me I need rotors and pads and that would be $500. I had a funny feeling about that and doubted whether it was true or not. I have the luxury of a second vehicle so I took the car home and garaged it for a few days and drove the other car. Then I took it to my regular mechanic I work with and they said they couldn't find anything wrong. Hum... They passed the inspection. I'll never go back to Goodyear again. HORRIFIC customer service!!! STAY AWAY!!! The "manager" of this location speaks to customers as if he is better then them. If you want quality service and a pleasant experience, take your business somewhere else!!! Let me explain why I decided to write this review... Being a female, it is extremely difficult to deal with mechanics so I try my hardest to limit my interactions with them. Today I didn't have a choice as my car needed a state inspection. I called this location and spoke to a very pleasant man over the phone about possibly coming in. Upon arriving at this location, there was nothing pleasant about my interaction with all of the men behind the counter. I was harshly spoken to by the store manager who made sure that I knew that there was people in front of me (which I COMPLETELY expected, since it's a business...) He then proceeded to reiterate over and over again that I would have to wait at least 3 hours to be helped. (Keep in mind I was holding a newborn baby in my arms with my 4 year old by my side.) I inquired if there was any way it could take any less time since I had called 15 minutes prior to my arrival and there was absolutely NO WAIT TIME AT ALL. To which the abrasive manager stated (with his arms crossed from behind the counter) that he couldn't do anything and that I would have to "deal" with waiting. His tone that he chose to use towards me was harsh, cold, and uncalled for. He left me standing there with a blank stare on my face... I was SHOCKED! No one has ever spoken to me in that tone before. When I asked if there was a way to get in contact with his manger (the way he spoke to me was that off putting) and looked at me and rolled his eyes and told me he was out of town. I asked again for a point of contact and he hastily walked into the back office and wrote down an email address. He then walked towards me and casually handed me the sticky note... Followed by an eye roll. This is EXACTLY the type of behavior that women try to steer clear of and the reason I will never bring my business back to this location. read more

I am absolutely FURIOUS with the customer service I received. I went in for a 40 min appointment for a strut (on a 2012 car). For 2 hours I sat waiting. Another customer came in about an hour later & one of the employees comes to the waiting room & they chat for about 40 minutes about serving in the military. Well I get fed up & ask the receptionist what is taking so long & he points to the guy talking to the other customer & says "he's the one fixing your car." I was like what, no he's been talking to that other customer about being in the army for the past 40 mins. I was FURIOUS, & it turns out he is the manager. How can someone so unprofessional be a manager?! After complaining I received my keys & was out the door in less that 5 minutes, which means it was already finished being worked on & I sat there waiting for no reason wasting my time. I went here to get my care inspected. I was the first customer to arrive. I was told one other car was in front of me that was dropped of the night before so it would be about 45 minutes. I ran to a store next to the facility to kill time and arrived back in 45 minutes. I was told they were just finishing up the first car. I wasn't worried, I figured it would be another 20 minutes and I could get out of there. Wrong, another hour goes by and they tell me they are writing the inspection report, so I am thinking a couple more minutes and I can get out of there. Wrong again. After ten minutes I go up and began pacing to demonstrate my agitation and a few minutes later they let me go. I remembered going through this with them before, so this WILL be the last time. Had a tire that needed to be patched due to a air leakage. Stopped by here since I work close by. They stated that the tire patches are free if it can fixed. This was good news for me. Waited 5 mins before my car was taken back for the tire to be patched. Watching them inspect the tires through the window into the bay where the tech was spraying the soapy water to find actually where the air leak was coming from. the Tech started to shaking his head. (I knew that the tire was non-repairable) the tech came into the waiting room and advised me to that the tire was non-repairable because it was too close to the sidewall. I asked if I could repair with a patch kit and if so would it last long. he proceed to say that I could patch the tire but could not say the . Explain that I could purchase a tire through the to replace the non-repairable tire but could not guarantee a smooth ride with the new treads on the new tire we're different. They showed me where the nail was on the tire so that I could/wanted patch it myself. I decide to go purchase a patch kit vs. purchase a new tire. I was writing this review for the two techs that were honest with me. They didn't try to sales or try to sale me 4 tire to have all match and new tires. They stated the fact and gave me the options. I wish I would've read the reviews on here before visiting this place. I had a nail embedded in one of my tires. Naturally my first inclination was to search for tire stores near me for a repair. I saw on their website that Goodyear offers "free" tire repairs, which almost seemed too good to be true (spoiler alert: it was), so I made an appointment. I took my vehicle in and walked next door to Lowe's to pick up a few things. I received a phone call about 15 minutes after I dropped it off with the tech telling me that the tire was unable to be repaired but that they could put a new tire on. I'm not a tire expert by any means, but I could tell the nail in the tire was pretty close to the center and nowhere near the sidewall. Given that arguing with their "professional" would be pointless, I took my car to my own local mechanic for a second opinion. Lo and behold, my mechanic was able to repair the tire for $12. I can't vouch for buying tires here, but avoid this place like the plague if you need a tire repair because it's pretty evident they're in the business of selling tires and not repairing them. read more

Horrible service. Went in to get a tire plugged, they said it couldn't be plugged and that I would need all new tires. After listening to Donnie and one of his workers try and sell me tires for 20 minutes I finally got out of there. A week later I took it to a smaller shop that plugged my tire no problem for $20. Now, a month later my tire that was plugged by a smaller shop is running just fine after I was told they weren't able to plug my tire. read more

I started using this Service Center about a year ago after trying several others in he area. We are fairly new to the area and it's always difficult to find someone to service your car that is friendly and honest. So far, we've been happy with the friendly service we've received. Last Thursday on the way home from work I picked up a huge bolt in one of my tires. It was leaking air slowly enough that I was able to make it to Goodyear before it went flat. I got to the front desk about an hour to closing time and worried because there were a lot of people in the waiting room and the bays were full. Brandon was working the front counter and when I told him my problem he asked if I could leave the car. I told him that wasn't possible because it was my only ride to work. He said "just a minute" and went out to the work area to confer with the folks working on other cars. He came back a short time later and said he would fix it himself. And he did! I left the shop 30 minutes later with a new tire and a big smile. I was home in time for dinner! What a lifesaver! Excellent customer service Brandon! read more

Worst customer service experience of my life. Took car in for oil change and tire roto. They said it would be 2 hours. So I said I would come back after work. 6 hrs later they hadn't even started and said it would be another 1.5hrs. I agreed to bring it back next day instead. They promised to have it done by 2pm. At 3:00 when I came to pick it up they told me they accidentally set my car on fire and burned off a vital piece of axle function! I had my car in their shop 3 days and it is STILL broken...now it sounds like a helicopter taking off and landing! It didn't make any noise when I took it in. The manager is avoiding my calls and refusing to call me back. I've called customer service and sent email on goodyear.com and gotten nothing for my troubles and my car is still a helicopter. I wish i could give less than one star. This is the worst experience i have ever had at any store. All i needed was a state inspection for a 2011 honda which i take very good care of. I called and he told me no problem will take 30 min. I arrive and he says oh its gunna take 4 hours. So he lied just to get me in the door. So now i have to wait 45 min for my ride to arrive which i tried to avoid by calling ahead. 4 hours later i receive a call saying its going to take over $800 bc the brakes failed. I immediately said absolutely not these brakes only cost $60. I get there and the estimate was actually over $1,600! I take the rejection sticker and go down the street and get the brakes put on for $100. I return to get my inspection sticker for $1 and of course the only person that can issue it leaves at 4pm. So now i have to drive around with a rejection sticker on my car. I will never step foot in this store again and will insure none of my friends or family do either. read more
