Very delicious pizza. Crust taste fresh, sauce mild tang. I had the jalapeños, black olives, mushrooms and cheese pizza. They have two larges we got the 16 inch which is the size of an average large. It's all very fresh. We also go cheese by the slice. They have a special where you can get two slices of cheese and a drink for $6.00 all day every day. The undercarriage is good but I should have gotten well done. The pizza over all I would rate a 8.2 out of 10. I am a very hard scorer so this is an excellent score. I already knew I'd like this place when I called to place an order and asked for the XL 18' inch and was quickly told their XL was 20'....ordered two huge pie's for a great price. Definitely a crowd pleaser for my large family who kept asking "where did you get this from!?!?". Unimpressed. As with most restaurants right now, it seemed to be chaotic even for the take-out business. For having a shortage of workers, this place had plenty of workers standing around talking, but only one handling the long pickup line as well as the call-in orders. The food was average to below average. We got the vodka penne as one of our choices. It was bland and tasted watered down. We also got the chicken Parmesan. Went in, sat down, after 15 minutes nobody showed up, not busy at all, servers and people working all talking in the back. Server comes and asks if anybody was helping us, we said no, she leaves, go ask who's taking care of our table, guy comes from behind the counter, checked a computer at the hostess stand, turns around and goes back behind the counter, 2 more servers come out and look at us but don't come to our table. My wife and I Love Goomba's. We have been traveling and when we returned wanted a good meal that was served with intention. Goomba's in our opinion is the only restaurant in the city of Clermont that was exactly that. A team of people who served food with thought behind it. North Clermont is the land of the chains..... and even those are in bad shape. When taking your family to dinner, you want good food. Not just taste but good for you. Too. Goomba's was always that place. New owners have changed the service and appearance of the restaurant, but I'm happy to see our pizza chef remained. My only complaint is that the menu is limited. There is nothing bad going on here! Nothing but goodness! I've taken the family here several times and have always been pleased. Love the Calzones. And I love pepperoni but never get extra pepperoni because they give you way too much. Not a bad thing but too much for me. For me, the crust makes or breaks the pizza and Goombas never fails. Not too thick or thin AND not too soft (or oily), it is perfect. Even the calzone "crust" is perfect. Service is always been good. Sometimes not as personable as I like but I like to talk. Today was the third visit that we've had at this old school Pizzeria. Each time I've been impressed with our meals. The pizza always has a crisp crust and the toppings are generous. We've also had Chicken Parmesan and Spaghetti and Meatballs. Both were great options. The only reason I didn't give five stars was because we didn't have an experienced server. The last time I visited Goomba's, is when their location was on HWY 50 and 2nd Street in Clermont, The old steeple church building. When you entered the restaurant, the host/ hostess would greet us by saying "Welcome to Goomba's!" Frank the owner was usually seated at the bar and was friendly as well, all the server were friendly and welcoming. They also thanked us for coming and hope to see you soon. This is my first time visiting this new location by the Epic theater in Clermont. When we entered the older gentleman greeted us by saying "is this for Take-out, Pick-up or Dine-in", I told him we would be dining in and we'd like a booth for our lunch. I ordered the meaty lasagna and my spouse ordered the chicken parmigiana. The food was hot and delicious. The ambiance is the same as the previous location but a smaller version. You can see the chef and the cooks heads over the counter preparing the dishes. The Italian cookies from up north (New York) are staged on the counter. The issue we have is the customer service. Our server was a young man who didn't tell us his name, he asks us for our drink orders, he brought out the garlic rolls and a side bowl of marinara sauce which was delicious. We received our food, but we only saw our server one time, we noticed he sat down with the owner (Frank) which they appeared to be working on some flyers for upcoming dinner specials. The older gentleman who was the host walked by our table and spoke to folks in front and behind and asked them how their food was and never inquired or asked us anything. We received our bill the prices were reasonable for real Italian food. Customer Service has gone by the waist side. It's so disappointing that we paid $60 for a very good lunch only to be sorely disappointed by the lack of customer service. I actually loudly said "You're Welcome" as we exited the door feeling utterly disappointed by the lack of friendly and professional customer service. Goomba's Pizzeria is located in the same area as Epic Theater so we stopped in for a quick bite before a movie. The decor is nothing to boast about but the atmosphere is relaxing and family oriented. I asked the gentleman seating us if we can be in and out in 45 minutes and he told us that he would do his best. I didn't think that it would be much of a challenge but I was wrong because this place is hopping busy. The tables were full and the take out line was endless. As soon as I took my first bite of pizza I knew why Goomba's is so popular. My husband and I ordered fried mushrooms and a 10 inch pizza with all the toppings. The mushrooms were very good. They came to the table freshly made and with a wonderful horseradish dipping sauce. The pizza blew me away. I didn't expect this little unassuming restaurant to put out such an amazing pizza. The crust...the toppings...everything about this pizza screamed quality. The service was exceptional. I was really looking forward to a nice little lunch here. The person who made my Italian sandwich was definitely not Italian. Or even had a clue to how much meat should be on one. It had one piece of ham and one piece of salami and a slice of cheese.... I think. There was more lettuce on this sandwich than meat. They may as well call it a vegetarian. The pizza was good so my girl cut a piece of her pizza off and put it in my sandwich. I mentioned my issue to the waitress and she offered to have them make another. I don't think so... Decided to check this place out. Let's just say we all would have been better dumpster diving outside a domino's pizza. Ordered the veal cutlet parmesan (shoe leather cutlet) with spaghetti in a pool of water. Clearly a lack of attention to how a meal should be prepared. I politely set it aside to have what appeared to be Sauteed Jumbo Shrimp, definitely not fresh, it had the taste of being frozen in a ton of salt. I hope and pray that's not how fresh shrimp tastes. I'm sorry but being from Italy and growing up in New York I've been jaded by robust flavors and the taste of freshness that makes your taste buds sing for more. It was odd watching the owner count his receipts and hope he made enough to cover the expenses. It made us feel like we were dining at a seat-of-your-pants restaurant. This place has some of the best meatballs & pizza I have ever had. We were a party of 5 and did not have to wait long to be seated. The portions are more than ample and they definitely are family oriented & cater to the kids. We had a great bottle of Moscato & some beer. We have had mixed luck with Goomba's. 3 times our food wasn't what we ordered. One was take out and twice was done in restaurant. They just put in a completely wrong pizza order twice. Also left the sausage off of a calzone a third time. Someone needs to pay attention! Still the food is decent. The Verducci is really good! So is the Goomboli. Wine came way over iced and very little fruit. (Sangria). One piece was actually an orange peel, no fruit. Asked for a second glass and strained out the ice. Better! Ask for ice separately, I guess, or ask for very little ice. Would love some garlic on the garlic knots, with salt. Lots of powdered Parmesan; no garlic. Maybe improve the topping. The bread is good. More garlic, Real Parmesan and it would be much better! Serve with sauce. Also would love to see Parma prosciutto on the menu and a tapas appetizer. Oh and add some olives to the salad. Minor fixes. My dad and I decided to give Goomba's a try and boy were we pleasantly surprised! We ordered the calamari and it was delicious and so was the marinara sauce which is rare. Then we ordered a mushroom and Sausage Pizza and it was absolutely delicious!! My father who never eats pizza let along the crust was impressed and ate everything! I highly recommend coming here, very family friendly, staff is very nice and it has a great atmosphere!! Oh yeah and don't forget the cannoli!! We have ordered take out and eaten in house and usually have had pleasant experiences until the pandemic. However with the continual rise in prices, the level of service has declined with each visit. Tonight I ordered a small sausage pizza to go and was given a hockey puck instead. Small pizza for $12 that wasn't cut and was mushrooms and sausage instead of just sausage. What a wonderful surprise to see Goombas back in Clermont! Perfect location next to the movie theatre.. Never judge a book by its cover. It may look like it's just another strip mall type restaurant that you find thru out the Orlando area. That is where it stops. They have a vast menu. Which in some places is the sign or kiss of death. This place doesn't fit that bill either. The food is really good. You are able to see the kitchen and watch your pizza being prepared. The portion sizes are equal to if not more for the price you pay. You surely will not go away hungry. Just a hint the garlic knots are huge. I loved the old owners, so Im trying to get used to the new owners, prices and menu. Two of my best friends are gluten-free, and the old owners had a menu which provided many GF choices. Oh so sad...we went back to Goombas last night and found out it has new owners. This place used to have the best Italian menu, family atmosphere and food at good prices, but it all changed. The menu is a fraction of what it used to be with many of my favorite dishes are gone! I used to get a large calzone that was huge, but now the calzones are small but at a higher price than the large I used to buy. No daily specials, no Cannolis, no Zeppole's, just higher prices. The menu on Yelp is the old one. They essentially just turned this place into another boring pizza joint. I still gave it 3 stars because it appears they were smart enough to try to retain the previous staff, who were great! I hope the owners reconsider their limited menu (which you can find anywhere around central Florida) and return to the unique real Italian Restaurant offerings The Original Goombas was famous for! read more
