Kim talked to us to see our comfort of riding and experience level. Then we headed over to the barn to see what horses were feeling up for a ride. She chose the horses and saddled them up. Kim truly loves her horses and cares for them with so much compassion. She brushed each one, sprayed them down so the bugs didn't bother them and saddled them up. She made sure our stirrup's fit properly and we loaded up for the ride. Once out of the gate we headed for the trail and then through the woods, crossed a creek and even met some of her neighbors along the ride. We trotted and galloped, my goodness I loved EVERY second of it!!! The horses listened very well. They look to Kim as their leader and will not run without her doing so even if you try to get them to. We will definitely be back when the weather cools down. I love that she doesn't run her horses in summer much because of the heat. This is a wonderful place to ride.

We were looking online at 'activity' farms (animal husbandry-horseback riding-bees, etc) in the…read morelocal area and came upon the Rose Bridge Farm. Rose Bridge is a sanctuary and working farm on land once owned by William Penn. Since 2013, the farm has become a 'forever home' for over 300 animals. Many of the animals are rescues from dairy farms, livestock auctions or other scenarios where they were at risk. They have several different activities, we opted for the Farm Fest, which combined several of the activities. The Farm Fest includes a mini farm animal husbandry tour, baby animal cuddling time, hands on craft activity, a beverage bar and an outdoor fire pit. It lasts about 2 hours. There were many parents there with children, but also adults like us by themselves. There are two times - 4-6 and 6:30-8:30. We went on the 4:00 tour. It was great! It was very interesting hearing how the animals came to the farm - it was so heartwarming to hear the stories of saving so many animals. However, I wasn't expecting the 'cuddling time' to be so much fun. We started with the goats - so friendly! They were nuzzling and 'pawing' us - I sat down and several came to me and wanted to be rubbed or held. I even had an opportunity to feed a baby goat its milk bottle! We interacted with pigs, sheep, a beautiful thoroughbred horse and a donkey! It was a very special experience! Afterwards we all went to a large barn and made crafts - specifically little planters we decorated, added dirt and seeds (large selection of flowers and vegetables seeds) to take home as a little souvenir. We had a dinner reservation so we left before the fire pit activity. Overall, it was a wonderful experience to be with these farm animals and to support such a worthwhile project.

I like that they match you with your horse according to your skill level, weight and height, days before you arrive. Everything was organized so we could get the most out of our horseback riding experience. The prices for an hour long ride were very affordable. If you're funny about helmets bring a scarf to wrap your hair. We rode down through a clearing into the water, up and down long scenic fall leaf-covered hills. The instructors took a group shot of us for a nice keepsake. I highly recommend Sheeder Mill Farms for groups of all skill levels.

It was hot and humid but the ride was mostly in shade. The horses were very well behaved, and my daughter absolutely loved it. Her horse was well behaved and gave no issues. My wife's horse kept eating (much like me), but still was gentle and easy going. This place is great for beginners as the horses are well behaved. You take a 15 minute tutorial in how to ride then off you go.

My point of comparison is Longhorn's which offers more of a bang-for-a-buck, and in my opinion better tasting ribs. Not to say that Austin's aren't good. They are. Based on the popularity of Austin's, it's clear management knows what they're doing. But I think a small salad and baked potato should be available with the price of the entree -- not worth the extra $7 I was going to be charged. The salad is listed as 'field greens,' -- which it's not -- but reading the menu you'll see they mean iceberg and romaine. The salad was good, enhanced by their garlic ranch dressing. We washed down our meals with well-priced drinks: merlot ($8.90) and Blue Moon ($6.90), then splurged on dessert. Austin's flourless double chocolate brownie a la mode is very rich. One order for two adults is plenty. Austin's is aptly described as a family restaurant. A lot of kids. A lot of noise. Service is friendly and on-the-ball. We switched to Crawford Organics after a season with Greensgrow. It is an all-organic,…read morefamily-operated CSA that delivers to a couple of locations in Philly. We've picked up at Bodhi Coffee on Headhouse as well as Sweet Freedom Bakery during two separate seasons. What we've loved: wonderful organic produce, on-time delivery with flexible pick-up (Sweet Freedom would hold our box until the next day when we needed), wonderful newletters with pictures and recipes, and a knowledgeable response to customer inquiries. Also, we really enjoyed the dried goods that came in our box sometimes: popcorn, cornbread mix, and a dried tomato thing that rehydrated into a delicious pesto. What could be better: More variety. We got so many potatoes and sweet potatoes that we had to constantly give half away. We got lettuce (a head or two) every week, so I had to get really creative with recipes (btw, Lettuce Soup is delicious!). However, the website says that the Crawford family would like to continue adding more crops, so I suspect that this will improve as they diversify the farm. Fewer Herbs. The herbs were a nice touch, but the portions were too large. I really struggled to use as much cilantro as was given to us, even though I put it in everything AND froze some. Same for other herbs - plenty to use, to freeze, or to dry, but really could be smaller bunches in order to be enjoyed fresh. Discount for Returners. We missed the Early Bird discount because we thought we were moving and hence couldn't renew right away. It would have been nice to get a "second season" discount as a gesture for loyalty. I would (and have!) recommend this CSA to anyone looking for organic, affordable produce in Philly. If you haven't ever tried a CSA before, you can confidently try this one!
