Overpriced and the lady inside is rude. Hit a spot before or wait another 30ish miles.

Sure the prices are higher, but for goodness sake, look where you are! You should have planned ahead! I LOVE stopped by here every time after leaving family property near Ragged Point - it's like prolonging our time in the area before heading back to real life.

We stopped in for a large Topo Chico, a small wafer cookie ($3.50), and a 6-pack of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. The total was around $34, compared to the usual ~$20 elsewhere. Given how remote the area is, the markup makes sense, but it's still pretty steep. There's also a sign on the door noting it's $2 to use the bathroom. To their credit, the bathroom was really clean, just something to be aware of before you walk in. On the positive side, the beer fridge is awesome. It's an old-school, vintage-style cooler that's actually really fun to see. Overall, the store is convenient and well-stocked, but expect high prices across the board. If you need something in a pinch, it's a solid stop -- otherwise, I'd skip it to avoid the cost.

The aisles can be a bit small which I could see being a bit of a pain if there are lots of people in the store. You can pretty much find anything you are looking for here. Albeit not necessarily the same volume as a chain grocery store but everything here seems to be good quality. We found lots of good wine as well. Then we got to the deli. It's pretty impressive with standard items like the various prepared salads (chicken, tuna, etc). We wanted to try the sandwiches and for that you'll need to get the order forms from outside near the entrance, then take them to the counter, wait a bit and they'll call you when it's ready. We both got mediterranean sandwiches to go. You can get build your own as well but I figured I'd go with one on the menu. The sandwich was delicious. Fresh ingredients, really good bread, and everything just worked in the sandwich. I really enjoyed it. We also got some butter beans from the deli and those were amazing as well. I highly recommend Jerome's and will be back again.

There's always Whole Foods Safeway, etc. but a hidden gem in Carmel Valley Village is Jerome's. It's not one of these huge Safeway Whole Foods warehouse size stores. It's actually small and terribly efficient in a good way. He has his own butchers and they actually butcher. Nothing comes prepackaged in cellophane packages. Excellent meat, fish, poultry. A very nice selection of produce local providers lot of organics and a homey feeling. This is definitely a local spot. It's about 12 miles from Highway one and a nice ride through the valley to get to the Village. Jerome has some great wines at reasonable prices and as you might guess a fairly good uniqueness to his French offerings. The same could be said for local SLH/Monterey vintages again at reasonable prices I found some price less than the wineries. Look it's not the size of total wine, but it doesn't have to be. It just has to be good stuff at the right price that you can enjoy when you're making dinner at home. And I always seem to managed to buy a few bottles when I'm in there. Today was a 2021 Pisoni reserve Pinot--yum. They do a really good job each day preparing certain foods that you can have for dinner. There's prime rib night. There's pork chops. There's spareribs chicken all cooked fresh that day. Want a sandwich no problem. They've got a crew that makes what just about whatever you want. Bottom line they do with the big guys can't do.-- high-quality really good service and staff that seems to always smile. Enjoy yourself.

Long Review: This place is a Main Street stalwart, and is located a Rios the street from the Shell station. A family-owned spot with really friendly service. It's so nice to see the same people each time you return, and they like seeing you too. They have a wide range of sandwiches, sides, salads, desserts, and smoothies. My favorites are the Hot Pastrami and the Turkey/Bacon/Avocado Club. Very consistently good each time I order. They are usually busy, so I may recommend calling ahead. Ample seating both inside out outdoors, and a great spot for groups. Give 'em a try!

They make simply darn mean tasting sandwiches. Quality meats, fresh fixings. Mmm. They have cold and hot sandwiches, burritos, tortas, homemade soups, smoothies, fresh juices, and bakery items. Besides their signature sandwiches, you can choose to customize one. My go to fave is the Italian super sub. The place is not much to look at. It's a little nondescript building. The interior is basic. Besides the interior dining area; they also have a patio with tables with shade covering. Plus even though the word bakery is in the name of the place I consider it more of a deli.
