Back in Cambria, CA, again. And we had to stop at Sandy's Deli. It's a bit of a tradition with Hubs and I to grab sandwiches and take them to the beach for our picnic. They make simply darn mean tasting sandwiches. Quality meats, fresh fixings. Mmm. They have cold and hot sandwiches, burritos, tortas, homemade soups, smoothies, fresh juices, and bakery items. Besides their signature sandwiches, you can choose to customize one. My go to fave is the Italian super sub. The place is not much to look at. It's a little nondescript building. Time for an update! Sandy's Deli is just as fantastic as always. Every time I am in Cambria I make sure I grab a sandwich to go at least one time from Sandy's! My favorite is their build your own option - it is currently $12.25 and they are very generous in terms of not skimping on the meat/cheese. The ingredients are so fresh and the roast beef is nice and rare! Their smoothies are also fantastic! We were in Cambria and craving a deli sandwich. My husband had the Italian sub and I had the turkey cranberry sandwich. We both agreed that the turkey cranberry sandwich was superior. It was a really great sandwich. I also really enjoyed my iced coffee! It was surprisingly good. The service was easy. You order at the counter and they call your number. The interior has lots of comfortable seating. I adored the paintings they have displayed and the history of their store in family photos. The staff is nice, and you get good portion sizes for the sandwiches you purchase. They have options for my vegetarian and vegan friends as well which is always wonderful to see. They're also open to making custom orders, like my little sister was with me and she just wanted a grilled cheese, so they agreed to make it for her. My daughter got in line to order for the 4 of us. 2 adults, 2 kids. The kids split a sandwich Amber, my daughter and I split one too. We had a club. I'm not a fan of French bread. It is tasteless and has a cake like texture. They do not have crusty wheat or sour dough rolls. Only French. The bread is made off site and delivered in a pickup truck. We saw the guy delivering it. Tray after tray. French rolls. The club was pretty good, but the cucumber threw it off for me. I took it out. They have kettle chips which are good. I like jalapeño. Ambiance feels like it used to be someone's home. Like small rooms with house windows. There's about 6 tables for 4 Personally o would not be tempted to return. I've had better sandwiches. Came into Cambria to get gas and saw that Sandy's Deli had some good review for some bakery items so we stopped by. The shop itself is so cute and love that it was easy to park right next to it. We walked in and took a look at their pasty case and decided on the cheesecake brownie but the sandwiches smelled so good that we ended up with a pastrami sandwich as well lol The cheesecake brownie was ok. Was a nice sweet chocolate treat. They toast their rolls fresh and absolutely stuff the sandwich with thinly sliced pastrami. The toasty roll complemented the hot pastrami and Swiss and the veggies and sauces worked really well together. The girl taking our order was friendly and did well considering it was pretty busy. The staff working on the sandwiches all seemed to be pretty happy too which added to the nice ambiance. Prices were reasonable and the location was convenient.
