It was mysterious because most of the outlets and lights in my office were out but the rest of the house was fine and we'd done all the obvious things like resetting the breakers etc. Dino quickly diagnosed the problem and replaced the bad outlet (which was causing all 'downstream' outlets to go out, kind of like a string of Christmas lights).
