My husband is a "do it yourself" type and removed over a dozen trees from our yard. The stumps were the only daunting part - especially since some of them were in a very tight spot surrounded by concrete. I thought ours would be a difficult job, but I can tell these guys have done much tougher jobs than ours. They have contracts with several cities, colleges, etc. so I was worried it would cost a lot more money than the "cheap" guys. Happy to find out I was wrong! Their prices are very reasonable, and they did all the stumps in less than 2 hours. The equipment they use is more advanced than most. They own grinders of various sizes, and have modified them to make them more powerful, fit in tight spots, etc. Basically, they're doing it the "smart way", not the "hard way". The "tight spot" machine was especially helpful with our job (none of the concrete was damaged). What I especially liked was the workers themselves. Gordy and his son Scott were super-friendly, and it feels great to support such a nice Father/Son team (they told me they could get bigger if they wanted, but prefer to just keep it as the two of them). I'm going to upload some photos of my job - my favorite is the one where both Gordy & Scott are working on the same stump (they used the "tight spot" machine to work around our plumbing, and the bigger machine to do the heavy grinding). Gordy and Scott came over and knocked out a 7' diameter pepper tree stump on an incline. They couldn't get it all out on the first trip but followed up with a second visit and finished the job. They were professional and friendly. They even removed a couple of my neighbor's stumps for free for allowing them to use his yard for access to my yard. Gordy & crew came out, not only got out the stumps, but also the pesky roots that ran along the top of the ground. The roots were beginning to lift parts of our hardscape; Gordy went around & got 'em out, especially since we want to lay artificial turf. And he's guaranteed his work forever!!! I had 11 tree stumps that needed grinding. I called Gordy's Stump Grinding after seeing his great reviews. I'm glad I did. He and his son, Scott, were able to come over the next day and give me an estimate that was very reasonable. I asked when he could do the work. They had their equipment with them and started right then. While grinding away, they asked me if I wanted and short but very fat palm tree ground up as well. Yes, I did. After Gordy and Scott finished all of the work, including the palm tree, they did not charge me extra for the palm. I insisted on paying more because they were such great people and diligent workers. A while back, after we bought our house in Fletcher Hills, Gordy and his son Scott came out and did a fast and efficient job of removing a lot of stumps. Their prices were reasonable and they clearly knew their stuff. The same day, I showed Scott an ugly 8 ft. metal pole that some former owner of our house had embedded in concrete-- it didn't look like that thing was ever going anywhere. I don't think it was in their job description, but Scott took it as a challenge and dug that out too. Recently we discovered another stump hidden just under the surface of the dirt. Im a big do-it-yourselfer, worked construction, been in the military, and pretty much covered the gamit of jobs, but I gratefully hired Gordy's to do this one for me. Do yourself a favor and call them if you need a stump removed. We had a 50 year old Ficus stump in our front yard that had roots going out at least 12 feet in each direction that were probably 10 inches high, along with 6 other smaller stumps. Our yard was a complete mess of nothing but roots. Gordy and his son Scott came out with a stump grinder the size of small car and did twice as much work as I was expecting for their quoted price. Im the type of person that will spend 6 hours on the internet to save $10. So I reasearched this task sure I could do it myself and save a buck. Turns out the largest stump grinder I could rent costs nearly $200/day and is half the size of the one used by Gordy. The smaller stump grinder means it takes longer and does not go down as deep. After seeing what they did, I estimate it would have taken me two days to complete this task, plus my labor, plus the risk of not knowing what I was doing. Do the math yourself. But I ended up saving a ton of cash and headache, plus Gordy and Scott are super awesome dudes and I had a blast BS'ing with them after they finished the job. We love honest people. Scott came out to give us a quote for stump removal. He knew we were about to have our land level by bobcat, so he suggested we save our money on stump removal and have the bobcat guy pull it up by the root. There are so many contractors out to make a quick buck, but Scott is one of the few honest people left. Please use them if you need stump grind/remove.
