I heard this place was good, but I didn't expect it to be incredible. Everything was so delicious. The meats, vegetables, and tzatziki were the stars of the show. Wow. They were cooked and spiced perfectly. The hummus was great. The baklava was moist and full of spice, but not too sweet. The rice was flavorful, but it wasn't my favorite. The salad was good, but the dressing needed a little more lemon juice to thin it out and balance out the sweetness. The people running the restaurant were very sweet and friendly. read more

What a gem!!! My family and I were hanging out at Green Lake Park and worked up an appetite so we searched for nearby restaurants and just happened to pick Gorgeous George based on raving reviews and we weren't disappointed at all! This restaurant is a cute, little place (really tiny) and has an exclusive vibe to it but the servers are anything but snotty, they were very welcoming and were able to accommodate 5 of us right away. The food were so delicious! We ordered 2 gyro plates and 1 chicken kabob and both were just tender and moist. The salad dressing was very impressive, it made my carnivore husband eat the salad! I'd have to say the lentil soup was pretty average though. We dove right into our food we forgot to take photos! I would totally come back to this place! read more

I had Gorgeous George's cater for my wife's Mama Mia themed birthday party. It was everything I had hoped for. Lots of delicious food that was presented beautifully. All the flavors and the colors, everyone was raving about it all night long. And George and his staff were very helpful and very thoughtful. They even labeled everything with the allergy precautions that some of us at the party had. Overall a great experience and I highly recommend them for catering great Greek food. A few weeks ago, I ordered a bunch of food to go for a "big birthday" celebration. This was a large order (about 30 people!) and it was important to me that guests enjoy everything. Needless to say, they did an outstanding job. They made it so easy to order, pick up, transfer the food into my car. The food (chicken kebabs, salad, hummus, baba ganoush, pita, rice, roasted vegetables) was fresh, homey, and delicious. Also, just like George and his family, the portions were generous. If you love Middle Eastern food as much as me, and want to be well taken care of as part of an upcoming event (or just want a great meal), you'd be hard pressed to find someone better to take care of you. read more

I am so sorry to leave this less than stellar review, because I just love the people who own this restaurant. They are absolutely lovely. However, five of us came in to dine at the end of April. Four people ordered a chicken dish and I ordered the lamb chops. The waiter took the time to ask me how I like my lamb chops cooked, and gave me a detailed description of what each level of cooking would be like, which was greatly appreciated. I ordered medium rare, but when I cut into the chops, they were all well done. I was very specific that I wanted my chops pink, with no brown. What's the point of describing how they would be cooked if you're only going to serve me well done meat? We all ordered the lentil soup, and it was so spicy that none of us finished it. Certainly the kitchen must have noticed that our soup cups were almost full. And the other people at my table were unhappy as well, because the chicken they were served was extremely dry. They left the chicken on their plates and did not order any doggy bags. These friends and I all go out once a month together, and unfortunately we will not be returning to Gorgeous George's because of this experience. read more

It's a cold, grey, drizzly evening, and you want something special - something that will not only warm you up and take the chill off - but you want to feel welcomed. You don't just want a good meal - you want to feel like you've come home. You need to come to George's for dinner! I have NEVER had a meal here which was less than excellent. And George is like a jazz musician - he improvises on his themes, working with whatever is in season, whatever catches his fancy. Tonight, I was craving a bowl of his lentil soup. (Lest you think "lentil soup is boring," let me assure you - you have NEVER had lentil soup like this guy makes.) So, I was all set for some, when the server said "George made one other special soup tonight - lamb and okra, a thick soup the consistency of chili. I had a big bowl for lunch yesterday. It's incredible." He was right. He may never make it again, so don't get your hopes too high - but if you hear that he's done something new, it will be worth trying. I live really close to this place, and I walk by it MANY times in the course of a week, so I end up coming in at least once a week for a to-go order of hummus with meat. Once again - if you think hummus isn't anything to be excited about, you've never tried it the way George makes it. We were absolutely blown away by the incredible food and hospitality of Gorgeous George's Mediterranean Kitchen! As others mentioned, best hummus in Seattle (maybe the best we've ever eaten). The salmon, roasted veggies, Nazareth appetizer platter, and Cornish hen were all 10/10. To top it all off we had help from a family member in the restaurant taking our food across the street. What generosity! Oh, and we can't forget the baklava! Delish. We're now adding this to our short list of favorite regular haunts and can't wait to be back. Cutest little restaurant and great authentic food making for a great dinner. The restaurant is very cozy and small but it feels like you're a part of the family as George the chef comes to check on you in addition to the attentive waiters. They start you off with some delicious complimentary flavored water (herbs and fruit) and salad with mint dressing - sounds kind of strange but it's delicious! We ordered the hummus and pita bread, grandmas chicken, and the grilled shish kabob and they were all full of flavor, spices, and cooked to perfection. We also ordered wine and we were curious about the Lebanese wine on the menu so they just let us try a sample! Not normal, but very much appreciated. To finish off the my gave us mini baklava. I'll leave it at this - previously I did not like baklava, now I do! It is so delicious and has a ton of cinnamon. Overall great food and service at decent prices all things considered. Just happened by this place after a girlfriend & I left contorture class and were looking for a place to quell post workout hunger. From the outside it looked like a cozy yet elegant place so we decided that we would give Mediterranean food a try. We chose a little deuce among deuces along the left side corridor of the restaurant. The rest of the restaurant had the 4 tops and there was a large party happening when we were there. One of the tables had a 'reserved' sign on it so I think you can make reservations. We wanted to order everything so we settled on shared the a combo place of lamb kafka, shish kabob, and shish tawook that came with tomato, onion, asparagus, carrots, and rice. We also ordered hummus and babaghanouje that came with fresh baked pita bread. Being at a little table like we were required Tetris skills for plate arrangement. My girlfriend had never had babaghanouje but she loved it. It was a little on the gooey side but it was delicious. I've only had babaghanouje that's had the same consistency as hummus but other than that it was yummy. My girlfriend wasn't impressed with the hummus "not the best I've ever had" but enjoyed it. It wasn't too lemony which is something that I look for because it hummus makes my mouth pucker, I more than likely won't eat it. As for the combo plate, except for one piece of chicken that we didn't eat because we had topped off our stomachs, we killed it. It was all just so hot-off-the-grill nice and flavorful. The two people who were serving us were so very nice and accommodating and welcoming. We had accidentally flung our lamb kafka off the table out of excitement. My girlfriend was in a panic for me to pick it up off the floor to beat the 5-second buzzer. I did pick it up and if I had been in agreement to eat it, she would have gone for it but I was like it's all you sister. After explaining the situation we had asked one of the servers if we could get another lamb kafka and they did in fact bring us one. Whew! There is a small beer and wine list. This was a great find for the food, ambiance, and service although I found the pricing a bit on the steep side. For the 2 of us sharing an entree and 2 apps and 1 glass of wine, our bill came to $63. The apps are a good $2-4 higher than other comparable restaurants. Other than that, if money is no object, this is a place very much worth trying. read more

BEST MEDITERRANEAN FOOD IN MY LIFE. My friends and I flew up from Texas. Naturally, HOUSTON is already known for amazing Mediterranean food, so didn't expect for the food to be THAT good. The spinach soup to start was apparently chefs first time, someone beside us RAVED about it so I had to try it. INCREDIBLE. The hummus was INCREDIBLY fresh you could taste that they use the best ingredients (if you've ever had cheap hummus and had heart burn, you'd appreciate what I'm talking about). First impression walking in was that it was small and slightly claustrophobic (think New York restaurant scene). We snagged a window seat and there were only three other parties, so that helped immensely. Complimentary lentil soup - SO flavorful and a great way to start off the meal. Warmed us right up. Hummus - Good hummus; no "wow" factor, but it paired well with their delicious, warm pita bread. Greek salad - DELICIOUS. Ingredients were fresh and the dressing they use is something I could get on board with daily. I might go back just to get their dressing to go. George's chicken - SO yummy. Veggies were cooked and still slightly crisp and really complimented the spice-heavy chicken dish. The garlic sauce is pure ground garlic with a little bit of olive oil. The rice was the least impressive part of the dish and unnecessary so I may opt for just veggies the next time we go. Though the prices are a bit steep when you compare to other Mediterranean food, we did not walk away disappointed and had enough leftovers for lunch the next day. read more

My good friend recommended this spot years ago and I finally got around to going. I'm very upset that I didn't go earlier! Their service is top-notch and the food is oustanding! We ordered both of their combo plates which meant we got a variety of proteins (chicken, beef, lamb) along with rice and roasted carrots. The food was cooked perfectly and the yogurt sauce complimented everything quite well. The server was so kind and hospitable. First time at Gorgeous George's did not disappoint!!! Ordered the hummus appetizer and kafta kabob entree. Both were amazing and enough food to happily feed 2-3 people. The beef kabobs were well seasoned and the grilled vegetables that came with it were HUGE (zucchini, carrots, broccolini). The rice was fluffy and fragrant. The salad that came with the entree was bigger than a typical side salad portion, included many cucumbers and tomatoes, and came with a nutty/sweet/light dressing. 2 sauces were included and paired perfectly with the kabobs and veggies. The hummus was topped with olive oil and spices and was soooo creamy and delicious. The person who took our order was very friendly and helpful. Gorgeous George's is a neigbourhood mediterrranean restaurant in Seattle's Greenwood. It has a broad and relatively typical range of Mediterranean dishes and a great service environment. The restaurant sits in on a relatively busy arterial, but there is plenty of easy street parking nearby and the environment is quiet and calm. The interior is well-decorated and simple, with an open room and simple set of tables. Service is extremely attentive and high quality. This is clearly a well-run local business with owners who care about customer satisfaction and food quality. The service was a high point of this restaurant. The menu is very standard Mediterranean fare (for a US-based Mediterranean restaurant). There were few surprising or unusual menu items. We shared a couple of appetizers. The fried cauliflower was good, while the hummus with meat wasn't much better than plain hummus. There was a plentiful supply of pita, which is great. Our Entrees were all tasty and well-prepared. We all enjoyed the quality of the food and sides. Many entrees are quite similar. Mine was a mix of meats. Where red meats were served (Lamb/Beef), I felt they would have been better cooked less well-done and more medium rare. We had gone to this restaurant because of stellar yelp reviews, and I left a little disappointed. While this was a great Mediterranean restaurant, it wasn't any better than many others I've been to in Seattle, and probably not worth the travel time from another part of the city. It's a common thread through out all these reviews; a sleeper neighborhood restaurant, that holds to the idea, good food, good service, and a good intimate atmosphere. Baba ghanoush or whatever it's spelled is darn delicious here. Also this is a perfect neighborhood place that makes you want to stay a bit, and be part of the family. You are also going to smell of Greek, and garlic; but that's freaking okay, because you are at a Greek place, and you probably ordered something with garlic. I wish I would describe the atmosphere, it's generally a cozy, warm and inviting. I appreciated the kindness of the servers, and the chef who came out and chatted with us also. Gorgeous George has a great neighborhood feel and offers some very tasty Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food, generous portions, and a warm and welcoming staff . We started off with the Nazareth, which was a mezza of Tabouli, Falafal, Salad, Hummus, Babaghanouje, Veggie Grape Leaves, and Makdous. For two people, it was an overkill, but all very well done. The Tabouli was especially good - tons of fresh parsley with lots of lemon for a bright and fresh flavor. We then split the Shawarma Plate, which included lots of succulent chicken served with rice, pita, and a salad. I've been eating a ton of shwarma sandwiches lately so it was a real treat to get large pieces of shwarma. Beer and wine selections are somewhat limited, but adequate. The room is small, but they do take reservations, and tables by the window are especially nice. Definitely a good choice in Greenwood, and another reason to love neighborhood restaurants. A solid 3.5 stars for this joint! I came here on a Tuesday night for dinner with some friends. I was honestly a little astonished at the prices on the menu, all entrees were $19+ and sharing plates cost an additional $3.95 per person for entrees only. The norm (or at least my norm) at Mediterranean restaurants is to share, so that additional price makes little to no sense. For food, we got the hummus appetizer, which was delicious, but didn't really set it apart for me, from just buying the same kind of hummus from Trader Joes. For the entrees, we got the lamb kebab, and the falafel. I absolutely loved the falafels, they were fluffy and melted in your mouth. Especially with the tzatziki sauce, hummus, and pita bread - this was probably my favorite dish! I wish they served a falafel sandwich though. The lamb kebab could of been delicious, but the marinade used seemed store-bought and the lamb not succulent. Also, the lamb pieces were HUGE, which made for a not very aesthetically pleasing dish. In addition, the rice was not the typical mediterranean rice I was hoping for. Overall, nice owners and ambiance/decor, okay food, and okay service! It's a little funny to me that they only have one server. I guess they often don't fill up all the way. read more

Gorgeous George's has been on our bucket list for quite some time as we live nearby and the reviews are great. We dropped by one time, but unfortunately, the restaurant was closed as George and family were overseas. Last night, however, we got our chance, and boy did it live up to expectations! Firstly, the food was wonderful. For appetizers, we had hummous, baba ghanooj, salad with George's dressing and grape leaves. For entrees, we had the Shish Taouk and Chicken Shawarma. All were delicious, the chicken was perfectly seasoned and melt in your mouth good. Be forewarned, the portions are quite large. We hardly made a dent in our entrees and had a full meal left over for the next day. Also, the customer service is unparalleled. The wait for a table was short, and the server was very attentive. George also dropped by each table to thank folks for coming. You got the sense they truly enjoy entertaining guests. I highly recommend Gorgeous George's. Fantastic dinner at gorgeous georges on a friday evening. We walked in without a reservation at 6:30 and were warmly greeted by the hostess. There was no wait and we were quickly seated. She gave me tastings of two of the wines to help me decide- nice of her. We ordered the grandmas chicken and the appetizer sampler for the two of us. Portions sizes were big and we were stuffed. The grandmas chicken is cooked for over three hours and is incredibly moist and flavorful. The appetizer sampler was a good choice for Vegetarians. Both came with either a soup or salad- we got one of each and they were delicious. It is slightly pricier than other places and there is no happy hour. However the atmosphere is intimate and lovely for a date night or with friends. Did not see any kids there. The hosts are so friendly i would imagine they would make sure you were comfortable. Service was impeccable. Will definitely visit again. The price point prevents me from being a regular. read more

We have walked by this little neighborhood gem at least a hundred times and always said we should stop in for dinner sometime. We finally did just that on Wednesday night and so happy we did! The restaurant is small and feels intimate and warm. The server was friendly and attentive. The food was authentic, delicious and more than generous serving size. George came out of the kitchen to greet diners and check on their meals. We really enjoyed everything about our evening, the setting, food and service were all more than we expected. Took my mom to her follow up doctors appt yesterday and afterwards looked for a nearby restaurant to have dinner. Decided to try this place since it was close and had good reviews. So glad we did! The service was outstanding! The staff went out of their way to make you feel welcomed and ensure you were enjoying your meal. We ordered the futtoush salad, lamb steaks, shish kabob plate, and the mediterranean chicken plate. There was more than enough for the three of us plus my 4 year old. After dinner one of the owners came out and offered my son stickers, a balloon, and an eraser. I've never had a restaurant do that for us before. We had lunch here today and it was awesome. George is really a very gracious host. As soon as we were seated, he brought out a complimentary, delicious looking hummus and pita bread. The hummus was plated like a volcano with a crater in the center, that had a pool of olive oil. Sumac and other herbs were drizzled all over it. It was fantastic. The pita bread was fatter than the usual ones, may be the kind you get in Palestine, which is where George is from. We ordered zahra and the falafel platter. They don't make veggie shawarma; I was a little disappointed about that. But, zahra was good, lacked a bit of salt, but you could always sprinkle some from the salt and pepper shaker kept on your table. The cauliflower was crisp and smothered in tahini sauce. Yum! The falafel platter comes with either soup or salad, but he never asked us which we wanted. Instead, he chose to bring it with salad. The platter had falafels with tzatziki on top, salad with an amazing mint dressing, basmati rice and a cup of labne. Since the salad was on the same platter as the falafel, we didn't realize and asked george if there was a soup included with the platter and he got us a bowl of piping hot lentil soup, and clarified that he was giving us soup on top of the salad that came with falafel. That was nice of him, but we never asked for the salad, did we? We ended the lunch with a pistachio walnut baklava and it was absolutely toothsome. There is a $3.95 split charge for sharing an entree. I don't understand this because he is not giving a bigger helping or an extra soup or salad to justify the split charge. That is the only reason I have reduced one star. Now, comparing it with Med Kitchen, my favorite middle eastern haunt -- 1.Med kitchen in Bellevue, charges a split charge, but serves two soups and unlimited pita with the garlic dip. 2. Med kitchen gives bigger helpings for the same price. 3. Med kitchen uses a lot more garlic in its food. You may like it or hate it, well, I love it. 4. And, they make a spicy veggie shawarma plate, if you request. It is not listed on the menu. Of course, the host at Gorgeous was more gracious and friendly. I want to give it 5 stars, but just because the split charge is not justified, am holding back one star. Hey Gorgeous, may be you should serve two soups or 2 salads or give unlimited pita for that split charge. Otherwise, you rock! read more

Ordered takeout during COVID-19. I got the Hummus and the Gyro Platter which came with a salad. I didn't save the receipt, but the total was around $36 which felt really pricey. The portion sizes were actually massive. The platter had so much meat and rice and the salad filled a whole takeout container. The salad was pretty standard and the dressing was interesting. The Gyro Platter was good, but not my favorite. They give you huge slabs of meat and for some reason it just didn't taste as good as when you get it thinly sliced from other places. The white sauce went well with the meat and the rice was not bad. Hummus was amazing though! I think this place is definitely a more high quality Mediterranean restaurant than your regular quick Gyro togo spots. However, I wasn't too impressed with the food and it was at a higher price point than I expected. Maybe the flavors is what real Mediterranean food should taste like, but I'm just an Asian guy so what do I know?
