We had Dan as the DJ for our wedding on June 30, 2013 and we cannot recommend him highly enough. Originally, we met him when he was running karaoke downtown at Sidebar (before they stopped running it). We'd just gotten engaged and made a joke with him about singing wedding songs, this led to that, and we'd shortly arranged a meeting to talk about him actually DJ-ing the wedding. Dan was easy to work with from the first meeting, and made it clear that he was listening to what we would want to have played, and he could make as many or as few suggestions as we wanted. He has a really good knack for knowing a lot about music but making you feel like you do, too, and you're in control of what you're getting. We wanted to edit a verse out of our first dance number, and he made it sound as seamless as the original. The final playlist was great, and we continue to get comments from friends about how much people were actually out dancing and enjoying themselves---and especially so for a daytime, Sunday wedding! On the day of the event, everything ran smoothly. The equipment he brings for Gorham Productions is high quality and everything sounded great, for music, for processionals, for toasts, etc. Everything. Again, he's easy to work with and that was helpful since he was having to take the lead in moving things along, queing events, etc. Our venue didn't have a dedicated event planner (though a helpful coordinator was there), and Dan did a good job of working with the caterers, the venue coordinator, etc., and was part of the reason everything went really smoothly. read more

Dan has a knack for making everyone feel welcome! His ability to establish a rapport with anyone is unprecedented! He is so friendly and professional-- my friends and I have participated in 3 karaoke competitions that he has DJed and have had a blast every time. Songs are queued perfectly, he always has positive feedback for singers (even when we aren't that good) and he has a way of getting people excited about performers. The karaoke experience is so enhanced with Dan as the DJ! As far as karaoke goes, he may be best I've encountered. He is helpful with song selections, is patient as you scramble to decide which song may be the best for that evening's crowd, and wildly supportive of each and every performer. I have been to A LOT of places for Karaoke. Never have I enjoyed as much and seen such crowd participation as when Dan is running the show. No joke, he engages the entire crowd appropriately, never points the attention back to the performers and audience in a light-hearted and extremely entertaining way. He is very encouraging and full of positive energy. It's really important for a DJ or KJ to be able to read his or her crowd, Dan does this better than any I've ever seen. This allows him to be be playful with everyone making sure all are enjoying themselves, even if the singing itself is far from amazing. It also enables him to play music that engages the crowd. On occasion when he is not at his typical venues, he has a great team that are worth having as well. I recommend Dan for DJing or KJing any event. Better than any I've ever seen by far. Booking Dan Gorham was one of the best decisions we made in the entire wedding process. Leading up to the wedding, Dan was completely accessible--resolving all questions big or small in a timely manner. Dan met with us in person multiple times prior to the wedding and we always felt better about our wedding plans after talking to him. Dan is the consummate professional. He coordinated with our wedding planner flawlessly to make sure everything was running smooth. He is able to take your music playlist (and no-playlist) and form it into the perfect party atmosphere. Dan is a skilled and friendly emcee who made sure the wedding schedule is followed without making it all about himself (which some DJs love to do). Most importantly, our dance floor was full the entire night (3.5 hours of constant dancing). My wife and I could barely make it into the middle because everyone was dancing. Dan's absolutely awesome! We got married recently (July 2011) and Dan DJ'd for us, providing the music for everything from the ceremony itself up through the last dance. I gave him a fairly detailed set list and he was able to find every single song and chose great, similar tracks to fill in the gaps where needed. We had Dan DJ our wedding on September 27, 2014 and we couldn't have been more pleased. Dan was extremely professional and easy to work with. We had a pretty clear vision of what type of music we wanted for our wedding, and Dan was more than happy to accommodate our wishes. What makes karaoke night a great night out for me is the energy and personality of the DJ running the event and there is not a better karaoke master of ceremonies than Dan Gorham, the owner of Gorham Productions. Sure, the crowd is also important, but the crowd can get bored if the person running the show doesn't make it interesting. I used to go out to a bar in Boston once a month for karaoke until that place closed down for a while and I had to move to another. The new bar was where I met DJ Dan and experienced what a great karaoke night should be like...I enjoyed his hosting style so much that, 2 years ago, I started going weekly (even one night during a blizzard and another under a tornado warning) and continue to go week after week. Dan makes everyone comfortable getting up on stage and supports you whether you're a good singer or a bad singer. Sure, he's got jokes, but they're funny jokes. People laugh. I've brought friends with me who swore they would never sing a karaoke song, but Dan has made recommendations of songs that crowds like and those friends have gotten up to sing...all of them so far. Some kept coming out with me week after week because they enjoyed it so much. I would definitely want Gorham Productions to entertain at any event I was planning (I need an event to plan...anyone have one in mind). Already thinking how much fun it would be to have some karaoke at a family reunion, or at my son's graduation. Sure, my son is only 2 years old right now, but I imagine Gorham Productions will be around for a long time and I'm already looking forward to the entertainment at that party! read more

Dan Gorham is the greatest! He DJ'ed our wedding on Martha's Vineyard last weekend and start to finish, planning with Dan was a delight! He is perfectly professional- communicative, helpful, and works with you to deliver exactly what you need for your event. Dan was kind enough to meet with me the month before the wedding to go over the timeline, music selections, announcements, dances, etc. He is so on top of things, I told him he should be an all-out wedding coordinator! Dan's guys are top notch. I have been doing karaoke as a patron for over 20 years in 21 states. They are the best I have seen. They run bar shows 7 nights in a week in downtown Boston. My experience with downtown karaokes across the country is they generally change, come-and-go, or fail, because of rotating clientele and ownership of these types of clubs. Dan and his guys have been doing Sissy K's for several years 5 nights a week, and when Sissy's owner bought the club 2 doors down and made it 7 nights a week at Wild Rover, Dan added guys that are top-notch to run consistent, quality-sounding, fun shows. Wild Rover has trivia running concurrent with karaoke on Th/Fri/Sat as well. I've seen other clubs try this. The trivia people often leave, but they mix the trivia in with the karaoke, and it makes for a fun crowd the entire night. All of Gorham Productions' guys handle the diverse crowds and running contests seamlessly. They're tasked with running karaoke contests for larger sums of money weekly than anywhere I've ever seen, and they draw great talent as well as a solid base of cool people that keeps me making the trek into Boston even with the naturally higher drink prices. Both clubs I've seen them at also have dance clubs in the same venue. I've been to one other place (in MI) that tried that, and the karaoke there was never well attended. The clubs these guys work at are filled to capacity on weekends to the point of having a cover and a line outside every weekend, and the karaoke still stays well-attended. I can't say enough about Gorham Productions as far as hosting bar karaokes and trivia. I'm certain this translates to personal gigs for weddings and parties as well, given the quality of entertainment. In some sense, the expectations for parties are well-defined. As a former wedding DJ, and current substitute karaoke host for other friends' gigs, as well as a regular patron of Gorham's bar gigs, I hope this review provides you both the customer and host perspective to hire Gorham Productions.
