My wife and I have joined the "fraternity" of homeowners (there are many!) with a Lightning Protection System installed on our home. Earlier today, Mike Gorman (Gorman Lightning Protection) and his grandson, Hank, finished the installation of a Lightning Protection System on our home, complete with multiple whole-house surge protection devices. We are well pleased with the system, the product installation (mostly hidden unless you are looking for it), and the process, as well as the stellar customer service. From initial contact until completion Mike and his company were informative, professional, and reasonable in cost. For those who have concerns about the product and installation costs, consider this: - one lightning strike to our home resulted in nearly $13,000 to replace and service damage to our home. - This $13K only considers the tangible costs and doesn't consider the intangible - the inconvenience and time required to file the insurance claim, research vendors to replace damaged items, and select vendors to complete the work. - The total cost for the Lightning Protection System (parts and labor) was about 1/3 of the insurance claim. I am not a good predictor of lightning events so it's important to us to address the potential for continued future lightning strikes that likely would result in damage to our home. If the past several days are any indicator, lightning events occurred all around us. No strikes to our home during these, but what does the future hold? As a subcontractor working for a general contractor did not obtain the required permit and lied about it, did work not to code which had to be redone and cost considerably in dollars and stress. We've learned not to trust any contractor but to see the permits and insurance coverage prior to work being done. Very disappointing. read more

Extremely disappointed. Made 3 attempts to contact for an estimate on a project for our residence. Utilized his cell phone number, business number and his website. Finally after 8 business days had past, I finally received a call back. He assured me that he would come over to access my needs on that same or perhaps the next day. This was on Sept 17th. Jason from Gorman Electric in Santa Fe came to my home today and did three 100% perfect jobs. Though Jay Gorman, the owner, estimated two to three hours, Jason was done in 1 1/2 hours. How cool is that: a perfect job, in 1/2 the time, and probably costing 1/2 as much as expected. I call that 6-Stars! read more
