I contacted 4 plumbers online about a sewer line replacement, the ONLY one to respond was Caitco. I set up an inspection and within two weeks of initial contact the job is done. They were great at every step of the process and their crew was golden. they were on time, polite, easy to deal with, and came in at their estimate, which was from talking to other people in my neighborhood, completely competitive. The work was done low quality and high cost. We asked for two plumbing line adaptors to be installed to put in a new toilet. The adaptors were installed but without removing the old chrome covers and replaced with the new ones that were available in the box. They work but cost over $539 and could look better. read more

Scheduled appointment started a bit early with phone permission. My request to change original appointment time was met with immediate response to accommodate my needs. Technician was competent and professional and left me feeling safe in my home. Cost of replacement part was a bit more than expected as is most things these days. Service cost was virtually same as has been these many years I and my Association have used Caitco services. Received a discount for the many years I've used this service. Will continue to use Caitco with any of my plumbing/heating needs. read more

My complaint is about Caitco's prices: $299 in labor for a 40 minute visit, $20 for fuel and $260 for a part selling on Amazon for under $50. I am unfamiliar with other heating and cooling company practices and prices, but this seems way too high. read more

I've been going back and forth for a year about writing a review about my experience with Caitco last fall, but after having an excellent experience this week with a different company, for the exact same problem, the contrast has become too obvious. I had previously had good experiences with Caitco related to plumbing issues, so when my 11-year-old Armstrong heater started acting up in Nov, 2024 -- (not wanting to start up in the middle of a frigid cold wave) -- I called again. A young man came for about 15 minutes and said it needed a new "flame sensor/igniter". He told me "Armstrong parts are hard to find" and added an extra charge to the $300 bill, to cover the time he said he would spend on the internet looking for one. He also said they don't recommend customers order parts on the internet themselves, as they don't know what to look for. I heard nothing for a week and a half, so I called again. The woman said the technician "couldn't find the part" and that he was writing up an estimate to replace the whole heater. That seemed really suspect to me -- for a standard brand heater that was only 11 years old -- so I went to the internet and promptly found a *lot* of Armstrong parts within minutes, including sensor/igniters ranging from $35 to $150. I called to ask if he had checked the internet, as he said he would, before recommending replacing the whole heater, and she found out he had only checked their supplier. After my pushing, he then went to the internet and ordered the part. When it arrived he came again, spent another 15 minutes installing it, and charged another $700. I almost keeled over when I saw the charge for the sensor/igniter -- over $500. I called and asked how that could be, and was told he found one for $250, and they typically double the price of parts. (No wonder they don't want customers looking on the internet themselves.) So, for that total 30-40 minutes of work on my heater, it took three weeks and cost over $1000. And then ... the heater broke down less than two months later and started doing the exact same thing. We got through the winter with two large room heaters. Why say Armstrong parts are "hard to find" when I could find them on the internet within minutes? Why add a charge for the time he'd (supposedly) spend searching the internet -- and then not do it, only going there after being pushed by me, and after starting an estimate to replace the whole heater? Why order the part on the internet for $250 when it is apparently available from other places for $40? By contrast ... this month I had another heating company with excellent reviews come to handle the same problem. It took them about two weeks and cost $2000 -- but the difference was night and day. For that cost the two technicians spent at least two hours total here ... ordered two new parts (with no difficulty) ... and basically rebuilt my heater. (As one said, "It will last a long time now, and it's better than paying $8000 for a new one.") In addition, while here they went the extra mile in numerous ways -- spending a lot of time doing diagnostic tests to trace the problem; vacuuming out the whole closet; going on the roof to check the vent pipes; doing a final carbon monoxide test on the closet and vents ... NONE of which was done by Caitco. So, from my experience, I'm sorry to have to bluntly say -- avoid Caitco like the plague. They simply can't be trusted. read more

I have been so impressed with Caitco Drainworks. I mean yes -- the other reviews here have a point. But all plumbers are expensive and never get things done on the first (or second, or third) try. But I have found Caitco to be responsible, responsive, and honest. I initially found them because they advertise in the cathedral church bulletin. I needed a sewer lateral replaced, and the first quote I got was over $26,000. I was pretty sure this was not a realistic price since the plumber we used seemed to be more interested in charging me to do a sewer inspection than actually providing a quote and doing the work. So I called Caitco to provide another quote. I was initially very reluctant to do this since Caitco wanted to charge $380/hour, minimum one hour. But -- they advertise in the church bulletin, so I went ahead with another sewer inspection. Their quote came out to half the price of the first quote! It was still initially fairly sketchy, since their quote was a price range. And after calling them to nail down an actual price, they said that they would charge the lower end of the range unless the project was more complex than they expect, at which case they want the ability to charge more. So I went ahead and signed the contract and they did their work. And lo and behold! -- the project was "more complex" and they charged the very top of their range. It was still MUCH less than the competing quote, although definitely still stung. But here's where the 5 stars come in. A month after they installed the sewer lateral, I noticed that the laundry room was flooding. I called them, and they came back out and realized that they didn't account for the tie-in from the laundry room, which is on a separate pipe out of the house (Day 1). They had to dig the line back out and install a new tie-in (Day 2). But as they were leaving, I told them that we had a guest room in the back that is usually unoccupied -- and we have no idea where those pipes tie into the sewer lateral. So, they came back again the next morning to confirm that that sewer line was properly draining into the sewer (Day 3). As it turns out, the project was more complex than expected. But even more importantly, I really appreciated how responsive they were. Obviously, any sewer problem is an emergency. And their willingness to come out over and over again to make sure the house was safe and habitable is a testament to their dedication to their work. read more

I had a gas leak. Called them and they arrived within that hour and had it fixed in about 20 minutes. They showed me the detection device and explained the problem and how they fixed it. It is a relief to have the issue resolved. I have had bad experiences with plumbers in the past and was happy to find prompt and professional service to get this urgent issue resolved. read more

Won't be using this company again. I have a water company that has a habit of overcharging people, so I had a flood breaker installed. It was set for 300 gallons before it shut off my water. I called Caitco to increase the amount, and to drive out and press a few buttons they charged me nearly $400.00. And it didn't solve the problem since the unit only goes to 395 gallons and no one told me that before I got hit with this bill. read more

CIATco Drainworks did not quote a service charge price when called. Service was quick and knowledgeable but for 30 minutes of sewer clean out camara use bill was exorbitant of over 377.00 No repair was needed. Please ask for a quote before you let them come to you. This left me feeling like I just got scammed. read more

I called to have toilets fixed. The first toilet bowl flange needed fixed was running so "they" said they fixed to but it was still running after they left and still I need to jiggle the handle. 2nd toilet was rocking on it's base and they ordered a part, said they fixed it and it was still rocky off base the next day. They charged me $695.00 for both toilets. Charged $538 for labor. Was maybe at the house 1.2 hours. Called them to come back toilets and to service furnace. Did not fix that either. I provided them with the supplies needed to fix toilet. The service for the furnace was a piece of tape on some button and said it was fixed. Did not clean nor service the furnace. Still blowing cold air and not working the next day. I had to call a new plumber and they fixed the furnace and the running toilet. Charged me $538 including a yearly service agreement. Cleaned and serviced the furnace, was at the house 2 hours and extremely efficient. I will not use this company again Poor quality of work. read more

I had a faucet that was leaking, so I called Caitco. The bill for installing a faucet, without the facet, was over $600 which included a $20 fuel charge. I had no idea the standard rate was $269 per hour nor that a fuel charge would be added. When I received the bill, I asked if that seemed reasonable and they said that is what they charge and that they have been charging a fuel charge for a long time. I'll leave it to future potential customers to judge if that seems reasonable or not. read more

Had a great experience with this business. I received a note from the city that I had a leak, so I reached out to Caitco via their online scheduler, and within and hour I had an appointment for the next morning. They came out right on time and found the source of the leak, advised me to get a new fixture for the tub and they'd come back and install it. They did not charge for the initial visit and the cost of the visit to repair the issue was less than $500, significantly less than I expected. The plumbers who came were polite and despite having to enlarge the space and cut in to the wall, he cleaned everything up so well you couldn't tell he was even there. Don't use these people. I had a broken water line under our floor. Since I am new to the area, I received a referral to CaitCo, who was very responsive and came out to the house to evaluate the "problem". They gave me a very loose estimate of the repair cost but did not disclose the hourly rate. I received an invoice for $10,472.0 for the repairs. Although the company has a plumbing license, the person they sent to conduct the repair did not have a license. He did not have any of the necessary parts to fix the pipe and left the job to go buy pex and connectors. He was gone for 2 hours. His labourers/helpers sat around and chatted while the "plumber" was off shopping. I expected the bill to be between $3-5K . Caitco charged $239/hr for the plumber and $100 /per hour for the labourers. They did make a simple splice in the water line to repair it, but the fees were basically theft. These guys prey on your "emergency". The moral of the story is to get a hard estimate of the cost and walk away if they won't provide or disclose their fees. I will now do my damndest to spread the word about these people and discourage anybody from working with them. I talked with the people who referred Caitco to me and they were outraged and embarrassed and as a result will not refer them to any other client. This experience cost me a lot of money and it will cost you if you decide to use them for any services. Find somebody more reasonable and more ethical. read more

I called Caitco Drainworks to fix a pipe leaking in the wall behind the upstairs bathroom toilet. When they arrived they said it would cost about $400.00 to $450.00 to repair. They worked for a while and could not stop the leak. They said that they had other calls to make and would return later with the parts they needed to fix the leak. They did return and in about an hour the leak was repaired. Without prior knowledge they handed me a bill for $934.73 The price for the repair more than doubled. How can any business do that ? Be careful of these guys. Our Condo Board wanted three estimates. The first two firms charged $0 for an estimate (Elite and Cartwright). So I didn't think to ask Caitco how much their estimate would be, and they didn't say when I requested the estimate. I was stunned when the estimator haded me a bill for $350!!! $20 was for gas, the rest for 20 minutes labor. Needless to say, the Board didn't chose Caitco. They figured deceptive practice before we'd even signed on didn't bode well for their behavior afterwards. read more

I would not recommend this company to anyone. They did some work for us four years ago and we have had problems ever since. Their crews worked hard and were professional . But the owner and the company has horrible customer service. They didn't return calls , filed papers incorrectly, over charged, insisted on being paid in advance... and now left a repair of one of their inferior parts incomplete over the weekend and told me to call some else. They were the first to return my call when the project started and aggressive to get the job but have been horrible and unprofessional ever since. The owner has bravado and a swagger and thinks he knows everything, he worked hard to get the job and never appeared on the site afree he was paid. $20,000 that I wish had gone to someone else. read more

DrainWorks is a complete disaster. Stay as far away from this, rip-off incompetent company as possible. We built a house 10 years ago and were pleased with all the work done by the builders, including the heating system. Our radiant heating system worked perfectly for 10 years but then the heat went out. The company that installed it no longer does maintenance so we called DrainWorks. They convinced us that the remedy was for them to replace our copper boiler with a cast iron one at a cost of $10,000. We followed their advice and our heating system has never worked properly since. Further, Drainworks charges a fee every time they try - and fail - to diagnose the problem. They are one of the worst businesses I've ever come in contact with. read more

I'm not a yelper really, but I've been meaning to post on here for awhile about my experience w Caitco. My fella & I were $intimidated$ by the prospect of having to replace our sewer line from the house. We were up sheet creek. It sucks. So we shopped around. We got an estimate on the work from Caitco, got a second estimate from another place. Caitco beat the price. We went for it. The trench less style they did was awesome. Minimal yard disruption in the end. It's been almost a month & we are showering & flushing like normal people again! Justin was our guy & super on top of it. Lots of details go into a big job like this. Awesome team of folks. But the thing that really sticks out is when the tub was backing up a few days before the scheduled work. We asked if, perhaps, w the sewer job in just a few days, the crew could lend us a snake for this tub situation. Justin & his crew just came over (they must've worked late to accommodate our poop pickle) and got the standing gross moving through by snaking, removing traps, etc. They were trouble shooting & really trying to help us out.
