We chose J and J Landscaping because Jesse and Norma have done major, quality sprinkler repairs for us in the past. Over time, activity in the yard, including mowing, maintenance of plants, and merely transiting the property invariable damaged sprinkler heads and the irrigation system. Jesse spent approximately 6 hours of hard work in broiling heat, digging out broken sprinkler pop-ups, repairing and replacing sprinkler conduit and parts, and refilling the holes with the dirt and grass where he had dug them out. Jesse is extremely knowledgeable of the sprinkler business and is relentless in his effort to find and properly and efficiently repair or, if necessary, replace sprinklers that are damaged or broken. He is astute in determining where sprinklers should be placed to provide proper coverage. He is fair in his pricing of work and will ensure the job is done properly. We will continue to call upon J and J Landscaping for our sprinkler work. J and J Landscaping is also known sod install, tree trimming, weekly lawn service, and other landscaping specialities. Even after months of reminding and requesting the bushes on the hill to be trimmed, as we paid for, it was never done. We were told our lawn would be the best one on our block. This review is long overdue, we purchased a rather large patio cover (40'x15') in 2017 and had…read moremajor delays on the project. It took almost 8 weeks before the process was started and had one installer for the entire project. After about a month or so when the cover was completed we noticed dripping in several locations (there wasn't any rain at that time) and figured it might be condensation, we were WRONG... Once the first rainfall hit the cover leaked in several locations. We contacted Troy and he did have it looked at but it continued to leak. After months of "phone" tag we had another visit from Bryce but it still leaked in the same locations as before. We contacted Troy in late January and he said he would stop by to take a look and that was the last we heard. This year because of the major rainfall it leaked at almost every seam and even off the ceiling fan (not near the seam) which means water got inside the cover. Needless to say our VERY expensive investment has turned into our worst property nightmare. Also the city I live in requires permits, we weren't aware of this or would have put in the original contract (that's on us). We asked for this verbally but we all know what good verbal is. However that said, we have had other contract work done and everyone we spoke with knew the city codes/requirements and automatically put them in. As a provider you should at least know the laws for the cities you do work in and advise accordingly. Now I am going to be forced to look at another company to fix the work and will need to work with the city on permits. At this time I can't recommend SoCal for this type of work.

I had to argue to get any work done, and the work that was done they did not pull permits, as per the contract. I went online to the contractors license board to see how I would file a complaint and what rights I have, only to find that their license is suspended! Now I am out over $7000 for work that was done wrong and a patio that is not even started. The owner Troy has yet to respond to my demand for my money back so I can get this shoddy work fixed. Save yourself the trouble and run the other way.

Marshall was good to deal with , but his subcontractor "Joaquin Lopez" was impossible Poor Quality 1.The dyed concrete came out is various colors and was very apparent it was not mixed well 2. The stamping was not done correctly and in places we had tool , brush and footprints in the concrete, sections that were not stamped, steps that never got finished 3. During demolition there was damage to the plaster in my pool that was never repaired 4. During the pouring of the concrete there was splash onto my stucco that has never been removed. 5. The reinforcement wire was not supported and sunk to the dirt. This caused major cracks in the concrete Communication 1. Marshall did what he could to communicate but was not getting response from Lopez 2. Lopez would make promises and then not deliver most of the time 3. Money was requested and paid each time but I never held back enough to have any leverage. This was my mistake. To California Rocks Credit, they did come out and cut out some of the worst areas and poured new concrete. They offered to apply a coating to make all the concrete match. This made the situation better. The pattern they sprayed is not what I wanted, but to make this whole situation go away I agreed with it and it is done, Nothing I can do now except hate it. To this day there are areas in my front walk and driveway that have a white residue on them that I have asked several times to have fixed and I am now getting no response from Marshall or Joaquin Lopez.
