I have been going to the practice for a few years now and always had pretty positive experiences with the staff overall. Whether it's the doctors themselves or the people behind the desks, scheduling appointments and answering any questions I had, everyone has been helpful. I recently came in to get a second pair of glasses and although I did not have insurance that covered vision, they were very accommodating to work with me to get a pair, regardless. They also had a special that made getting a new pair of glasses that included a frame and lenses, very affordable. Janelle was the main person who worked with me on getting the second pair and was very friendly and accommodating. She was helpful in me narrowing down options for my second pair. I had a similar experience as another user that goes by the name of Angel D (12.20.25). I've been coming here for years to get contacts and sometimes glasses. My most recent experience was the worst and why they're losing me as a customer. I no longer wanted daily contacts and ended up switching to the weekly ones after trying out the Acuvue Oasys (2 week lenses). I asked if they had another Acuvue lense since I used to use those before I switched to my Daily ones a few years ago but apparently they only have Acuvue Oasys for 2 week lenses. My eyes were killing me using those after only a few days which is why I tried out the weekly ones. Not having more that ONE brand for 2 week lense makes zero sense to me. How do you not have multiple products for clients when it comes to contact lenses, but you have hundreds of glasses. Makes me think they get a cut from Acuvue which is why they push it on you. I never thought about this before because I never asked to switch. I ended up ordering the weekly lenses but received the daily ones instead. I even asked the lady who took my order if these were the weekly ones and she said yes. So im not getting a rebate since ive used the dailies before and even though i love the dailies I wanted to save some money by going with the week lenses and got the wrong order instead. I attached a picture below. The main reason I'm leaving as a customer. I also wanted to get my glasses but I ONLY wanted new frames since my lenses were fine. My dogs had chewed up the frames pretty bad and I figured it was time to switch them up. I asked Chris if i could order the same frames and just pop out lenses and put them in the new frames and he said they couldn't do that because of some bs excuse. I can't recall exactly what was said since this was weeks ago. What he did say was that i could get NEW frames elsewhere and come here to get NEW lenses If I wanted to go that route. I ended up calling another optometry place and they said they could do it if its the same frames. I was about to go there but they werent in my network so i would have to pay more with them. I ended writing a review for them since they were very nice over the phone and very informative (feel free to look it up on my recent reviews). I did call Gottlieb once again hoping to speak to someone other than Chris to see if the info provided by Chris was accurate, but they put me through Chris and he said once again that we had this conversation already and I cant just pop in the old lense and put them in new frames. Afterwards, I ended up ordering the same RayBan frames but in different colors through RayBan and picked them up at LensCrafters. I had them pop in the new lenses, but they had one of the lenses popping out more than the other side which made me dizzy. I ended going to Gottlieb again to see if they could fix the lense for me since I've been a client for years. The lady at the front desk helped me and I had to repeat what the problem was 3 times before she brought Chris over. " I got contacts with you guys, but I got my frames elsewhere. They popped in the new lenses but it doesn't feel right, so can you please help me adjust the lense. ". Chris then asked when I bought the original glasses and I said 3-4 years ago and he questioned who did the lenses because it doesn't look like these will fit and I said "You guys did it. They're the same frames but a different color". He then said "ok, were going to get to the bottom of this and get some answers". Felt like he didn't believe me when he said that line. A simple search of my purchases with them could've provided evidence. Chris then took the glasses and got help from someone to have them fit correctly and the glasses were perfect once again. The end result turned out great for me but the process to get there was horrific. I was stuck on one brand of contacts and i don't like that I was lied to multiple times about popping in old lenses with new frames. The worst part of it all ....someone else has experienced this and I'm wondering how many others are being lied to. Get yourself a good optometrist just like you would a good trustworthy mechanic. These are all businesses and they're all trying to make a buck, but the ones that have YOUR best interest will have you as repeat customers and that's how they will make their buck instead of up selling their clients on things they don't need/want. read more

I have been a long time customer ever since they were in the Lakewood mall. My entire family obtains service from this location and we loved coming here. We have always received good customer service and very informative. Unfortunately today 12/20/2025 I visited the office because I sat on my glasses and broke them. I did have a pair of ray bans that were similar style. I went to the office in a positive attitude with the believe that my optometrist that I have visited for years and which we have been investing in their business by obtaining service there would help me out. I explained the situation to Cynthia the front desk representative and looked at both of my glasses and agreed that they would possibly fit. At that time I was thinking there might be a hope of not spending any money. She proceeded to give me a document to fill out and would be assisted soon. I waited which seemed to be an eternity while the staff was doing who knows what, but did not look busy. Then enter Chris which asked me "did you know what frames you will be buying?" I informed him that I was looking to obtain help on just moving my the lenses to an old pair of ray bans that are similar style. He looked at them like he knew what he was doing and in hope that he would just pop them out and put the new in. He then relayed the bad news of "no" because they were not similar and my broken glasses were bigger. I was confused , which he proceeded to say that maybe if they cut the lenses it might fight. I was more confused and I was wondering if he was even going to try and fit them, but he did not. I informed him that I don't want to waste his time and thanked him and left. Once in my car I went ahead and pop the lenses myself and proceeded to place them on my old frames. To my surprise they fit!!! Which I was happy about that. But I was beyond upset as I was turned away from my long time optometrist and help was not given. I don't know about you all but things are expensive and all I was asking for is some help. It's not like I was not going to come back next year to buy new glasses as my family does every year and we have been great customer to this establishment. But the help was not there, it just truly showed the lack of customer service that the staff fails to have. I requested to speak to the office manager which honestly he was not help lack of soft skills and deescalation skills. Also, I forgot his name and his tone and lack of empathy truly showed that he did not care or even to loose my business from a long time customer. It just truly shows that he is clearly running the show there and I'm concerned if the owner of this establishment knows that this individual is allowing business to just walk out the door which for the owner translates to money. It just really shows that the lack of customer service start from the top. My family and myself will not be visiting g this establishment again, but to be honest how the manager told me and made me feel is that my family and I really do not matter. read more

I called at 6:50 pm yesterday , almost to close, when a super nice receptionist answered my call. I needed to see the doctor ASAP, bad eye infection that was treated a week prior at another facility and was not getting better. She scheduled me to see the doctor the following morning. Dr. Donald Gottlieb took good care of me and did a thorough eye examination. He prescribed me some steroids drops for my eyes. He reassured me that I was going to be fine. I already feeling better with the eye drops. I feel less pressure and inflammation. Redness has come down too. Thank you all for making me feel comfortable and a NEW patient !!!! read more

After being treated poorly & constantly upsold at our last optometry place, I decided to try this one since it's closer to home. Brought my grandma in for her yearly exam (thank goodness they take walk ins) and everyone who helped us was great. Reception was friendly & welcoming, didn't have to wait long to be seen by Dr. Pettit, and Chris helped us at the end with getting her a pair of glasses. We initially weren't even planning on getting her a new pair - just came in for the exam - but Chris took the time to educate us on what she needed, going over the options for lenses and frames explaining why they'd be good for her. I appreciated that he was quick & efficient but thorough with his recommendations. I never once felt upsold or pressured to buy something unnecessary. My husband comes here and has had a good experience. We started to bring my daughter here who is 9 years old for hard contact treatment. I called to make an appointment and explained on the phone she was having issues with pain and stinging with the contacts. They went ahead and made an appointment for us for 3/31. I showed up yesterday, they took us to the room, and I was surprised to see not our normal provider, Dr. Pettit. We were seen by Dr. Gottlieb (senior) who was rude and told my son who is 7 to stop talking twice (unfortunately he had to come too since it was after school). He then told us we need to reschedule with the other provider who fit us for the contacts and walked us to the front desk. I am not kidding, we were there in the room for about 30 seconds and walked us to the front and said "reschedule". Honestly, WTF. I was kind of in shock that no one caught that when we made the appointment and didn't think to schedule us with the same provider we have been seeing, especially when I said over the phone it is a contact issue. There were no apologies by the provider or front desk staff. In my opinion, it was horrible service on everyone's part and makes me not want to return. ** I do want to add that Dr. Pettit is beyond amazing and is so patient with my daughter and explains things so well. read more

I'm not too crazy about their selection of glasses for both style and price, so I do my exam here and then get my glasses elsewhere. Their "great 5 star reviews" has to have been bought. I don't know how this company operates, but they're disorganized and a scam. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS. They are quick to collect your money, but do not deliver like they promised. They said 5-10 business days and I am on 13th business day and NO ONE in the office can get me a meaningful status on my order. This review is regarding my husbands glasses and the lack of communication, follow up and overall management of this office and their subsequent contracted lab. It's been over a month, the tint on my husbands transition lenses went blurry and we never got any communication from Jason, Rae or anyone else regarding what's happening. Rae promises to call back and she has twice not called or followed up. We have been loyal customers since I was a kid to Dr Petit and this isn't his fault, he's a great doctor. I have lost faith in this office and it's management. People who wear glasses need their eyewear and it shouldn't take a month with no action or follow up. 1-Star Review - Dr. Gottlieb's Office I've been a longtime patient at this clinic under Dr. Pettit, but my recent experience with Dr. Gottlieb's office was beyond disappointing. I purchased two pairs of high-end glasses (Versace and Gucci), only to later find out the lenses were poorly cut--due to a lab change that was never disclosed to me. Even more concerning, the office admitted they should have used a better-quality lens for my strong prescription, but still went with the cheapest option without informing me or offering alternatives. When I followed up, I learned my glasses had been returned and sat on a manager's desk for three weeks, with no one contacting me. I was promised callbacks that never happened, and staff were inconsistent in explaining office policies--claiming a $20 remake fee while previously stating changes would be made at no cost. Because of this, I refused to drop off my second pair. These are expensive purchases, and I expected clear communication, transparency, and accountability--none of which happened here. If you value your time, money, and vision, I recommend seeking care elsewhere. I've since reported this to my vision insurance and the California Board of Optometry. read more

I took my daughter in for a regular eye exam with Dr. B (I believe that's his name), and I couldn't be more grateful for the care we received. I mentioned that my daughter has dyslexia, and during the exam, Dr. B discovered that she has a vertical prism in her eye. This makes it hard for her to stay on the same line while reading, which obviously affects her reading and learning. I've been taking her to the eye doctor for the past 10 years, and no one has ever found this issue until now -- she's 16! The level of care and attention we received was exceptional. Dr. B treated us like family and took the time to really listen and help us understand what was going on. I highly recommend this practice to anyone looking for a thorough, compassionate eye doctor. read more

It is frustrating when you call placed on hold for over 5 minutes and you're thinking they might've forgotten you. I call back and automatically be placed on hold! I call back and told the staff not to put me on hold and just kept rambling about being busy. I am busy too on a break trying to get my eye ex to be emailed to me. If they're understaff they need to do something about it or better yet have a better solution and not be putting people on hold for over 5 minutes! Ridiculous and mind you this is not the first time they did this to me. read more

I had such a positive experience here! I came on a Saturday for my yearly exam and while it was packed, it had no impact on my appointment. They saw me on time, were super friendly and efficient. I have special vision circumstances with only one good eye and that good eye has terrible vision. So I'm kind of a mess. Lol. I wouldn't trust my care to anyone else. Dr. Gottlieb was not only personable, but provided a lot of education while conducting my appointment. After my eye exam, May helped me and she was AMAZING. Can't say it enough Unlike other optometrist I've been to, while showing me glasses, she was not pushy, didn't focus on sales/ price and was patient with me. She really focused on finding the perfect frames for my face and left me so excited to receive my glasses. My son is 3 1/2 and has an appt in a few weeks and I can't wait to take him. I needed glasses since my current ones are several years old. I came here with the staff knowing very well my spending limit was limited. The upsell from the doctor e was ridiculous. I understand that they urged me to get lasik, but I did not appreciate the doctor telling me "it's only $5000." I'm happy that $5000 is super affordable for you, but the fact that you knew I had a budget even for some basic glasses and you 1, tried to upsells something I clearly cannot afford and 2, making it seem like I'm crazy for not doing lasik(or "getting tested for it") since it's ONLY $5000 is really demeaning and insulting. I'll regret forever that I bought glasses here. So much so that I continue to wear my old pair. I see their rating has gone down quite a bit since my visit last year. I am not surprised. I won't ever be going back here. The will try to scam you of your money by never telling you what things cost. I stressed and stressed how important price transparency was when I was with the people helping me and no one would tell me what I had to pay and at the end I was forced to pay a contact exam i was convinced was free since they never mentioned the cost. I have been to many places before and I never experienced this disrespect before. Literally all I was asking was a refund for the exam I didn't want to take. When I was explaining the situation to the last person they had no sympathy and was forced to pay for a contact exam I would have never done especially since I was stressing how much I wanted to save money. They don't care about you. They are not helpful and truly I regret using my insurance at this place. I just hope they improve their customer service and price consultancy before others experience the same as me. read more

If you are looking for a great optical facility, this is it! No rushing, no pressure, no bad spirited staff! Just friendly, loving people with a heart to serve.
