Gougér Cellars puts the accent on the E with an emphasis on easygoing wines and good times. Gary Gougér is the founder and namesake of the winery. His spirit fills each experience at Gougér Cellars from wine tastings to full meals. Of course, you don't have to gab with Gary if you just want to relax, but why not, he loves to share his love of wines ... and especially Gougér Cellars wines. We did the $10 wine tasting to start and it was hard to pick from the different award winners. A 2017 Chardonnay was the only Gougér wine that uses local Ridgefield grapes. The others use grapes that hail from other regions like Washington's Yakima Valley and Northern California. The balanced 2014 Malbec was my favorite, but the smoky 2011 Petite Sireh was very distinctive and a close second. A third recommendation is the bold 2014 Syrah which is a "Double Gold" award winner. Even though Gary and the guy in the kitchen are cool, the chillest member of Gougér Cellars Winery is the friendly and sooooo relaxed pooch hanging out in the dining area. Like all wineries, Gougér has a wine club. It's free to join, but there is a $100 minimum purchase requirement. If you like Gougér Cellars wines, then it's a no-brainer to join ... and enjoy these wines regularly. Even if you aren't a club member, consider visiting Gougér Cellars on Friday nights for FREE PASTA HAPPY HOUR (with purchase of a glass or bottle of wine). Other food choices include Baked Brie, Turkey Sandwich, Arugula Salad, Baked Artichoke Dip, or a Cheese Plate. Gougér Cellars Winery opens at noon Wednesday to Sunday and closes at 6:00 on Wed/Thu, at 8:00 on Fri/Sat, and at 5:00 on Sun. Whether you come to try and buy the wines or to have a relaxing meal with wine, Gougér Cellars is a solid recommendation for any wine enthusiasts in Clark County or Southwest Washington.

On a wine tasting Sunday with the girls, my first impression was the pours were short and you had to buy 3 bottles to get the fee waived which is a bit much. BUT the wines were all really great and the tasting was supposed to include 5 but he kept pouring so we got to taste all 10. And he lit the fire table outside so it was all really great. Recommended!

    Cast Iron Brie, yummy!

My husband and I first visited Gary Gouger's winery in downtown Vancouver, a very small location yet the very best wines!

When it came, however, it was incredibly over-salted, I mean to the point where it was inedible (and I actually like salt.) I let the waitress know about the issue and she apologized, advising she would let the kitchen staff know. I suspect it was double salted in error. The potatoes and broccolini served with it were good, but the plentiful carrots that came on the plate were significantly undercooked; you could not put a fork through them even. We had a hot pretzel as an appetizer, and I've gotta say it was fantastic, just phenomenal! It comes with a cheese sauce, which I wasn't really into, but also a grainy mustard to dip in and it was good enough that I would've eaten it without the pretzel, but I didn't want to embarrass myself! One person at our table had the single patty smashburger that came with a ginormous amount of battered fries and he said both the burger and the fries were good. The kids meal ordered (Mac & cheese) was a lot of food and very well-received. We ordered an additional vegetable (broccolini) for the child with us and I was pleased to see that that was just three dollars for a generous portion. We were sitting in a corner and the music was very loud. Loud enough, that I had to go to the car to get the child's headphones for them to wear, and one adult in our party actually put in earplugs. I suspect in a more central location it wouldn't have been as intolerably loud. Prices are average. Our server was very pleasant.

Normally everything is sublime, and worthy of all the hype! I am not sure what happened at this location. The service is still top -notch, but the food seemed cold and stale. My friend and I drove 2.5 hours each way and made a day of it, doing some touristy stuff along the way. I usually get regular fries but this time tried them animal style. The cheese sauce was congealed and the fries were cold and chewy. I thought that maybe the cold items added to make the animal fries may have cooled them down so I kept eating, thinking to myself that I would never have them animal style again. I just went ahead and ate (about half of ) them. My friend got the regular fries, however, and he said they were strangely cold and chewy as well. The buns are grilled which really makes for a tasty burger. But this time they were ALSO cold and chewy. The veggies seemed fresh, but the meat was cold and chewy as well. It also seemed oversauced so it was way sloppier than normal. I picked my order up within 15 seconds of being called up so it hadn't been sitting for a while. My best guess, after working fast food in the past, is that they are frying a bunch of patties and a bunch of buns ahead of time and putting them together for each order, instead of cooking them fresh for every order. I realize this place is super busy, and that this may make be a way to make the lines go down faster, but the quality is just not there. I probably should have gone back up and asked for fresh food but didn't want to be a jerk. If I ever go back to this location I will check the order right when I pick it up, and I'd recommend others do the same. I hope they can get it together!

However I recently decided to try them for a cheat day. Called ahead on the drive to have a medium pepperoni. Interesting they have a drive thru window behind the building. Service was easy and friendly enough. Pizza smelled great. Pretty standard size. Visually no complaints. I've seen others complain about burnt crust (that's literally what a real pizza oven does lol). Anyway, it tasted good. Kind of an average experience. Not truly lacking, not phenomenal. Despite being regular gluten I didn't feel bloated/sick eating it. I would definitely consider ordering again. My issue is the price though. Most pizza spots have specials. You literally have dominos across the street selling 2 large pizzas for like $10-15. A medium pepperoni was almost $30. That seems like what a large or XL should be for a pepperoni or combo pizza. I like that it was semi convenient that they have a drive through and you can pick it up after running errands and such. But for $30 I'd rather have a pizza delivered. MODS pizza down the road would be pizza and salad combo for the same price. Idk. If they considered a weekday special or something it might make us order more often. For now I'm glad I tried it to know what is offered to support local spots. But definitely not my go-to due to cost and lacking cauli options.
