The bagels themselves are good. Very skimpy on the cream cheese- hardly one side coated

Ugh I wanted to love this place so badly, but honestly I've had better. They did have unique cream cheese flavors I haven't seen before (lemon zest & honey feta). But wasn't super impressed by the bagels. I went 2 days in a row because I was staying across the street & it was very convenient. Bagels are also typically my hangover breakfast meal of choice. Day 1 I just ordered an onion bagel toasted w/ cream cheese. The bagel was barely toasted & very "bready". Maybe I've just never had a true NY bagel, but I usually prefer mine a little more toasted. Cream cheese amount was fine. Day 2 I got a poppy seed bagel w/ honey feta cream cheese. This time I asked for it double toasted & w/ extra cream cheese (I'm excessive about it but that's on me, not them lol). It was much better & I thoroughly enjoyed the honey feta flavor cream cheese. Not sure what I'm missing because this place seems very popular. Maybe I'm supposed to get one of the sandwiches?? Or it's just not my cup of tea, and that's ok too.

My daughter ordered via Uber Eats. I had: The Nashville Midtown - lots of flavor coming through with the onion and sun dried tomatoes. The chicken was thin and a bit tough but the everything bagel was very tasty and had that good chew you look for in a bagel.

I ordered a blueberry bagel with strawberry cream cheese. The bagel itself was very good and fresh. The strawberry cream cheese, however, tasted more like plain cream cheese and didn't have much strawberry flavor. You order and pay at the counter, and the place was very well laid out and organized, which I appreciated. I do wish I had tried a different bagel, but I'd still be open to coming back

These bagels are huge, smell amazing, look amazing and TASTE just as amazing as they look - no joke. Stopped here to grab a variety of bagels for my work event and appreciated the prompt service and quality that I received. The price is also pretty competitive in my opinion. For bagel lovers, this is the place to go especially if you're a bagel snob!! Quality ingredients and I learned they fly in their water from New York to actually make the bagels. So a top notch place for sure!!

Great bagels in this hidden gem of a place. Not cheap though. The people all talk very fast! Basic New Yorker (lox & cream cheese)

Just started a job around the corner and found this place. Owner was very friendly and food was on point. Glad to have found this place.

Bacon, egg & cheese on an everything bagel

These pics don't do it justice but I could barely fit them in my hand they were so big. As a self proclaimed bagel expert, I've tried every bagel shop that I know of in the Nashville and surrounding area. Chewy with a little crisp on the edge yet soft. Nothing fancy or trendy (like most of the bagel shops), just proper bagels done right. Yes that was intentional wording.

Stopped in on a Saturday morning after a night on Broadway. We didn't want to wait in line at a restaurant for breakfast. Walked in and there was no line, variety of bagels, and friendly staff! My friend and I both just got a basic sausage egg and cheese on a bagel and it was exactly what we wanted. I don't live in the area but my friend said she'd keep it on her list as a spot for a decent breakfast sandwich and fast service.

H&S bagel Owner is Hector S., a native NYC area guy and NY Yankees fan. I stopped in for breakfast and he quickly, efficiently and pleasantly took my order. I immediately noticed his NYC accent was the same as mine. Can't miss the unique NYC accent! We chatted a bit and learned about things we had in common in the NYC area. I ordered a well toasted everything bagel with lox spread. I also ordered an egg, bacon & cheese bagel. Both came out quickly, made perfectly in every way including the bagel taste, amount of seasonings, and nice warm, great tasting lox spread. Just like my NYC home! The young woman (Elise) at the register was both efficient and very pleasant. She handed me the finished bagels by saying, "the time is 9 and the bagels are ready. " Looking at my watch I realized it was indeed just after 9 am. My bagels were done to perfection in about 5 minutes. She also has other cute sayings I've heard her use in my many visits since, including, "your bagel will be up in a jiff" and "your food is ready, the utensils are put away and "have a knife day" The othe bagel I usually order instead of the one with egg is an everything bagel with the spicy cream cheese (jalapeno and habanero mix) it had a nice spicy kick but not overboard. However your tounge and mouth will let you know this cream cheese flavor is legit as they will tingle just a little. The business is steady with customers coming in at a good pace. They are handled efficiently and pleasantly by the staff. The seating area is spacious and comfortable including very comfortable cushioned bench seating. They validate parking in the garage next door for up to an hour but there is ample parking across the streets at a lot which on the weekend can be used and no one is there to collect a parking fee. There is also street parking for the few minutes it takes to get your order and leave, before getting a ticket. On a few occassions, for lunch I had the everything bagel with boars head turkey, lettuce, onion ,tomato, gulden spicy brown mustard - just like in NYC, The owner started off as a worker in NYC area (Jersey City) bagel shop making the bagels and dough before coming to Nashville where he quickly discovered he could do much better than the other bagel places. H&S Bagels beats the many, many places in Nashville they say they have NYC style bagels and spreads. H&S actually has it in his shop and does it 100% NYC style! I HIGHLY Recommend this establishment and wish its owner good health, fortune and longevity in his business serving Nashville people and tourists the "real deal" NYC Bagels.

We had a good experience here. We each got a bagel. My boyfriend got the taylor ham egg and cheese on an everything bagel and I got the Nashville midtown on an onion bagel. The place was clean and although there was a line it moved quickly. The staff was very polite and our order came out very fast. I thought the Nashville midtown was great. It had a lot of flavor and it wasn't overly greasy, oily, or buttery which I appreciated. My boyfriend only somewhat enjoy his taylor ham egg and cheese and thought the everything bagel was a little too salty. Overall it was a good place and I would come back.

    Ask the Community - H & S Bagels

Hello, is there seating for people that bring their dog?

No, the whole place is indoors.

Does cream cheese come with a Bakers Dozen or is it sold separately?

Hi Rachelle, cream cheese (regular and tofu) are sold separately. They can be ordered by the pound or in a small side container.

Parking wasn't too bad unless you have mobility issues. Despite their whole thing being NY-style bagels, I actually selected a Reuben on Pumpernickel. I wasn't feeling like eating a whole bunch of whipped cream cheese or a chicken salad. Portion sizes were pretty good, actually. I think the main things for me would be to simplify the menu and offer size options. Something like half a bagel or like a "classics variety" (like a variety cheesecake). So you could pick and choose quarters or maybe thirds. I was happy to see they had savory cream cheese options because they are so underrated. I also got their honey lavender lemonade which was fire and not too sweet. The staff were all great and it is clearly a pretty popular spot. Overall no issues and I will probably go again.

It's in a small shopping center at the north limits of the Crieve Hall neighborhood. You can normally find a parking spot in the lot or if you know someone in the neighborhood, walking is an option too. Walk in and order at the counter. Be sure to check the available bagels that day AND any specials, especially the cinnamon bun special. Every time I have been, the staff has been extremely helpful as you navigate the choices. (note - there is a separate window outside to pickup online orders, delivery orders etc. so that helps with inside congestion). There is almost always a line but it moves quickly. On my last visit, they had just completed the March Madness bracket and were featuring the Cheddar bagel with chive cream cheese- $1. As I said, always check the special! They will feature some interesting coffees, bagels varieties and let's talk about the Cinnamon Roll. The first time I sampled the Cinnamon Roll special it was a blueberry pancake version, imagine an amazing cinnamon roll(yes, it's sweet but not overly and has great flavor), with blueberries and cream on top! The only downside is they are very large, but that means you get one to share with your people. Their bagels are really good! You can eat them plain or get some spread for them. (note that bulk bagel orders are not sliced). They also have breakfast sandwiches. To top it off, this has the feel of a real neighborhood spot. Plenty of folks greeting each other, friends connecting, families gathering. Indoor seating with books for the wee folks and some outdoor tables too. I understand they have another location but this is original CHBCO. Definitely worth checking it out!

I work in restaurants and this makes it high risk for mistakes. When "our" order was ready, she made direct eye contact with us beckoned us over to pay. It wasn't until after we made it out and home we realized it was the wrong order. There is certainly a gap in training because another individual was taking and calling out names for orders. What I received was somewhat similar to my order but extremely plain and lacking. (No offense to the person who originally made this order.) We also believed it would come out in order so we were called forward shortly after the people who were in front of us checked out. The ambiance is decent, the restaurant is cluttered and the ordering system is poor. The outside of the restaurant has two different signs and entrances/exits. I heard multiple people in line confused about this choice as well. My suggestion to ownership would be to make one entrance an exit only to avoid new customer confusion and streamline the ordering process. The bagel I received was tasty, but fell extremely flat because it was plain on the inside. Again, I received the wrong order so it wasn't at all what I was expecting. I would like to give this place another try and hopefully I receive someone else to take our order.

I was so afraid I would never have another good bagel again that I literally took bagel-baking classes at the Culinary Institute of America. I was right to be scared. For years, Nashville bagels were just bread donuts. Soft circles of steamed sadness committing breakfast fraud. The kind of thing someone hands you and says, "It's basically the same," right before you question every decision that led you south. Then this place showed up. It started as a pop-up inside TKO, R.I.P., and now it has taken over the whole space. This place gets it right. The bagels are boiled, rolled, baked, chewy, crusty, and spiritually accurate. Not "good for Nashville." Not "pretty close." Just really freaking good bagels. No apologies needed. The place looks the way a bagel shop is supposed to look. Concrete floors. Friendly chaos. People working hard behind the counter. And the people? That's the real thing. Mr. Aaron, his wife, and the whole crew are amazing. They know your name. They bust your chops. You bust theirs. That is community. That is customer service with a pulse. They even have a Mets fan, which proves their commitment to authenticity and long-term emotional damage. It's the kind of place you want to go every day, if your wallet, doctor, and basic sense of shame weren't constantly trying to ruin your life. Nashville finally has a real bagel place. I do not say that lightly. I say that as a man who has opinions about crust, chew, schmear, water, and most things. But this place rules. Go. Eat. Complain about the Mets. Order another bagel. Repeat.
