Still very good pakistani food in my opinion. Kachori is unique and flaky, no other pakistani restaurant in the neighborhood has those. Haleem is always delicious and so is the kulfi. I also tried the pakora kari recently and it was delicious. Tawa roti sells out quick but is so nice and thin. Halwa poori breakfast here is also on point. The place could be a little more cleaner inside, dining hall tables are a little run down but the food here is always on point. read more

3 stars - 4 for the food and 2 for the poor packaging for takeout food (read bottom of review and see pics for details) This is my go to Indian spot which I order for delivery from uber eats. Prices are very reasonable and delivery is always quick. I usually get the chicken biriyani which is savory and flavorful. The curry goat is one of my favorites with really tender pieces of goat. I always get their naan as well and they're very tasty and fluffy. Also tried the haleem which was delicious but too spicy for me. Same with the chicken kebab which was so tender but was really spicy. Overall, solid spot but definitely the food is on the spicier side which I guess is a sign it's authentic. While the food is delicious my main complaint is that they use very flimsy containers that on occasion has melted by the time it's delivered (I only live five blocks away). I've had a few incidents where I had to throw away the food because the container bottom was melted and caused a food hazard. read more

I like this place. Small, local, to the point. I got the gulab jamun some biryani, butter chicken, and kebab with naan. They make the naan in house super fresh. The kebab was the highlight for me also fresh, very herbaceous. The gulab jamun was delicious. They sell the sweets by the pound!!!! Seems like a place where people can get their cultural foods, nice little community vibe. I hope that others don't come in and try to change the atmosphere. I can't vouch for the dine in experience next door but the shop on the right where you can get all the Indian sweets you can think of is definitely getting two thumbs up! The hot food is absolutely delicious. The lamb shank, goat curry, chicken biryani, and naan were all up to our Indian food expectation standards. It's one of the very few cuisines I love so I am super delighted this place is located in this area of Brooklyn. And thanks to the love, I now know which desserts I will get again and again: ras malai and kulfi. Don't ask me which is better, I won't be able to choose! Ordered via Uber eats and they had a two for one special on some of their dishes; the food was delicious and came in good timing. I ordered the Chicken Biryani, naan, Aloo pharat, curry mixed veggies, and lamb. All flavored well and with even spiciness that it did not over power the food. I have order 4 chicken biryani, 12 Samosas, 2 samosa chaat for lunch. They all came in great packaging. All wrap in plastic wrap to prevent spills. Every thoughtful of them. The food is so delicious but service is slow, recommended for desi Indian / Pakistani food.

I went on a Tuesday afternoon so one can't really imagine the food became stale between morning and 2 PM. The obvious explanation is that the food was left over from the previous day. The chicken tikka was dry and unappetizing and at least 24 hours old (at least!) The chicken biryani that I ordered was cold - cementing the fact that it's not freshly made each day. (Note: B cerius when it comes to reheated rice. The bacterium Bacillus cerius is an obvious problem with this practice. Practiced on a large scale in a restaurant, it's a recipe for disaster over an extended period of time). With respect to the taste, the chicken biryani tasted okay but it was incredibly spicy. I was hiccuping after the first taste and had to toss most of it. The salad tasted like cardboard. The samosas appeared freshly made and quite good and they account for the two stars. On a final note, the proprietor of the restaurant first told me it would cost $19 after figuring the sum in his head. Casually then, while turned away from me, he asked "$20 okay?" LOL WHAT? I've never had a restaurant offer to charge me a higher price at the end of "negotiations" this way. It was EXACTLY the tone you'd encounter in a developing world street market (khan el khalil in cairo or a Guatemalan or Cambodian flea market). I had to ask him, "didn't you just tell me $19?" His response was to tap the sign for the tax rate and suggest he was actually offering me a discount off the tax rate since i'm paying by credit card. I've never seen someone so openly flaunt his practice of illegally avoiding taxes when dealing with cash paying customers. You know what that type of attitude towards taxes did for Greece. Really deplorable example of poor citizenship and for that alone i'd never return. read more

I stopped by today to pick up some food and ordered chicken tikka with naan. I asked the gentleman on the counter if the food was hot and he said "no" but offered to warm it up. I was shocked to see that he would put the clear plastic container in the microwave. When I told him that was dangerous he put it on a plate and warmed it, then packed it for me. As I waited I saw another employee heating up several containers in the same plastic containers! I am really shocked that a restaurant would do this when it's common knowledge that plastic and microwave don't go well. The containers were not even microwave safe. Personally I avoid using even those that are labeled safe. I'm wondering if the health department checks at all? read more

It's really good Desi food for very cheap prices. The kebabs are one of the best in the city. All their salans/curry dishes are top notch. Naan is very good as well. They make just about everything well except their samosas, I always felt wanting when eating theirs. It's a Paki food spot meant for Pakis so they don't hold on the spices and seasoning. It's not very fancy, but I don't mind eating there. Overall it's good food at a great value. Only reason, I can't give it 5 stars is the poor service. The kebabs from Gourmet are the best in Brooklyn! Besides being super delicious you can't beat the price. Any time I am in the area I stop to pick up kebabs (they are my mothers favorite) What's even better is you can freeze the kebabs and heat them up on the stove the next day! Today I was there with my father who likes the paya and naan at this place and I usually put up with the attitude of the waiters and workers because when my parents visit from Los Angeles they like to come here but this place is not worth the food. Yes they have good food but not every dish is above average. The service and attitude of the staff makes it completely worthless. The waiter didn't even acknowledge me while I waited, didn't bring water but instead kept catering to the table next to us with 3 Pakistani men. When I asked he was rude and asked me to wait. After waiting 15 minutes for even an acknowledgment I left to go across to Mithaas. The food is similar and it's definitely cleaner. Gourmet's service, workers and dirty tables/bathroom and nasty floors/food handling is not worth any type of Pakistani food. What a shame that this is how this restaurant represents our country's food and people. read more

As most Yelpers and Pakistani cuisine enthusiasts would agree - this is your average, no frills, neighborhood Pakistani food joint. Nothing here to call home or file a complaint with the DOH about. The waitress spoke a little English, enough to order something but not enough to get detailed descriptions of the food. That was fine for my husband and me, since we've eaten a lot of Indian/Pakistani food before but harder on my in-laws. The food was good and random chaats were just brought to our table (awesome!). I placed ordered for food this week for my church vacation bible school. I have given specific instruction on how the food should be as it was for kids and they did a great job. Everyone loved the food. I have already placed another order for comming sunday again. Their boneless chicken tikka are to die for. So delicious yummy. I want to eat it now lol. I came to this place on 12/29/17 to pick up some food. It was a really cold night and the restaurant had a party going on in their party hall. We 3 walked in and stand there for at least 20 min before this old man asked us if we are being helped. He didn't speak much english but was able to communicate. I told him what i want and he packed the food. This older fat woman came out of the kitchen and told the older gentleman to charge me $31 dollars. The older man kept saying it is only $24 not $31. The woman insisted him to charge me $31 and was telling him since i do not speak their language i will not understand the difference in price . But guess what i do speak Urdu very well. So whatever i proceed to the counter and asked for 2lb of gulab jamun. The guy behind the counter said they are $40 dollars per lb. at thet point i got annoyed and i told him i buy these sweets all the time and they are $14 dollars per lb. then he said oh i am sorry i gave you the wrong price. This is the best Paki food in Brooklyn. I have an issue with extremely spicy food and this food has very moderate spice and seasoning. It is just perfect and very flavorful!!!! The low rating on this one comes 100% because of the absolutely nasty waitress that's always there. We have eaten at this place a ton of times, and love the food and atmosphere, and even traveled over an hour from the Bronx to get some legitimate Pakistani food, but we will never go again because of this horrible woman. I took a few friends there to get some food, and we ordered a LOT of food, probably enough for 7 or 8 people even though there was just 3 of us, because i wanted to have a lot of leftovers to bring home for my husband for lunches for the week. Towards the end of the meal the lady came and tried to start clearing things away, and i very specifically told her "please pack everything up for us to take home, even the salad (free appetizer thing), she started to do so,but then one friend wasn't done eating so she asked her to just wait a few minutes. About 10 minutes later when the lady came back, she said "are you done?" I said yes, please don't forget the salad. She took everything away and threw it all in the garbage. When i realized she wasn't coming back with our food i said something and she flipped out. Said that i told her to throw it all away, and that it's gone now and there's nothing she can do about it.
