Our first visit and our last. We read many of the reviews before arriving but decided we needed to judge for ourselves. We had such high hopes. Kristy's was always our go to for dinner after the candlelight tours. Walked in, sat ourselves as per the instructions. We were approached in a reasonable amount of time by our server. I asked about a wine and beer list, to which she said they don't have. Ok, so tell me about the wine selection, well, umm, we have merlot, and some others. Ok, what brands do you have, can you tell me anything about them? No, they are just house wines. Um, ok. I will have water, thanks. That just lost you a decent alcohol sale, which decreases our bill and ultimately her tip. I ordered a burger. When asked how I wanted it cooked, I jokingly asked, does it matter? Is it going to be cooked to order or well done. She assured me it mattered. Ok, medium please. Guess what, it was well done. I showed her and said I would eat it anyway, she wasn't concerned at all. She said ok and walked away. Pretty much figured it would be after the length of time it took to get our food. They were busy but not packed by any means. No waiting line and it looked like most peopIe were order wings and pizza. I like my burgers seasoned precooking, pretty sure the only seasoning was a large amount of salt. Ate half and let the rest go. Husband had the grilled chicken with veggies (no rice). Nothing special as far as flavoring, he even had to add pepper and salt to season it himself. The mixed veggies were a strange mix. Corn, green pepper, 1 cherry tomatoe cut in half and what he thinks was small pieces of bacon. It was ok, again, nothing special. He had 2 cups of coffee, both of which had quite a bit of grounds in them. The waitress never offered any desert or asked if we wanted anything else. Sad really, as these are the questions that drive your sales up. I really want to give one star but feel like we were warned and ate here anyway, so I should give two. Good luck. ***reading the response to my review by the owner does not change my review. We have traveled extensively and know good food & good service when we receive it. Perhaps this establishment could invest in some customer service and "premium" beer training..enough to spew something other than "go read the board" but rather "I could suggest ..." and just because you purchase expensive ingredients doesn't mean they are prepared properly. Good luck though...you'll need it. We knew within 10 minutes of sitting down that this was NOT going to be an enjoyable lunch. You begin with seating yourself and waiting (and waiting) for a waitress. When she did arrive she could not tell me which beers were available, instead she told me to "go up and read the board"...WHAT? No beer list? Quite a normal expectation in a tap house right? Next was the wait...the wait for the overly priced (7.50 for a small beer) beers and the 45 minute wait for our basic lunch. The fish and chips were big chunks of fish that fell apart and slipped out of the breading and basic fries. The mushroom cheeseburger was just ok but the bun was good. Now the kicker..$45 for 3 beers and two plates. And I shall mention that the Guinness beer arrived in a small Blue Moon glass and lacked the right taste...so disappointed as there are not very many decent restaurants in this small town. We pulled off the highway to make a gas/food stop found this pub to be opened on Sunday so we decided to have lunch. I had the Carnegie, which is pastrami on grilled rye with a side of house made chips. My wife had the patty melt with chips. Both were excellent. Food delivery was slow but quite understandable as the pub was packed. Kudos to our server Angela for keeping things together during a hectic time. We will definitely keep this establishment in mind when we are near Edenton in the future. read more

I brought three ladies (sisters) into the restaurant Monday afternoon. And the restaurant was crowded and this was my first time there. Im from Edenton myself and has eaten at Bistro and waterman Grill several times. But at this restaurant i was really disappointed with the service. And to top it off after we finally got to give our orders we sat there for about an half hour and noticed two ladies came in and they got waited on immediately. And another table the same way with orders the same as ours. We ask what was the holdup and was told different stories but i think the real reason was they lost our order. Im a low blood sugar diabetic and was in need of some food. I wasn't pleased at all with the service now some of the food. This ia reason for the low rating. We did not have a problem with the service at all. Many people on Yelp have complained but our food was prompt, hot and we were well attended to. The waitress, (Cathy maybe?) was cherry and wonderful. We even surprised her with another person after she took our order and everyone's order came out at the same time anyways. No real complaints on the food or the service. The burgers were a little thin, but tasted great. The prices were fine and the beer was good. The only reason why I didn't give them five stars is that the food is nothing special and the atmosphere is a little weird and bright. Walked in and sat myself but had to look around for a table that wasn't dirty. Found one next to a television with the show Bones on. So had to eat while images of corpses was next to me. The Ruben was decent but the chips was lacking. They were bag chips and I evidently got the bottom of the bag as none were bigger than a quarter. Went for an early dinner on a rainy Saturday after a movie. Destinee was our waitress - she was friendly and did a great job getting our food & drinks out to us quickly. I was at this restaurant on Sunday with my wife. I rarely write reviews, especially critical ones, because I know anyone can have an off day. However, the service at this place was so terrible and slow I feel like I need the owner to know and to warn others who might think of going there. After waiting ten minutes and watching employees pass us by several times without acknowledging our existence We should've just left, especially after people who came in after us were offered the bar and It was only after the other patron pointed out we were there first did we get noticed. I'm 6'3" so I'm hard to miss. We finally got a table and did get our drinks in a reasonable amount of time and we'd also ordered pickle chips. A while later the waitress came back near us but instead of taking our order she took one from a large group that arrived about 10 minutes after us. My wife stopped her and asked if she'd mind taking our order and she said "Just a minute" and left. It was a while before she came back to take our order and she said she didn't realize we were there first. A total of about 30 minutes passed before the pickle chips came after we'd ordered them when ordering our drinks and they were pretty good. The large group received and pretty much finished their meal and we still had no meal an hour and fifteen minutes after arriving. Not once did a staff member approach us to let us know the status of our order or to apologize for the wait. We finally asked for our ticket so we could pay for what we'd eaten. After waiting several minutes I went to the bar and approached the young woman who appeared to be in charge. I told her we'd been waiting well over an hour and still had no meal and no one had apologized or let us know what was going on. I was not rude or confrontational. Her smile turned into a sneer and she told me that she was working on getting my ticket and couldn't I see they'd been busy. No apology was given at all. If she'd apologized and told us she'd make sure our food got right out we might've stayed but she didn't so we paid and left. We had a great time in Edenton, other than this experience, but this is unfortunately what we will probably remember the most, the worst customer service experience I've had at a restaurant in my 6 decades of life. This crew needs to be trained how to deal with customers. We ended up getting burgers at Dairy Queen where we were courteously greeted and thanked for our business. read more

We like this place when we visit the nearby area once a month. Especially to be able to watch the football games that aren't broadcast locally. Stopped in on Saturday December 11 to check if a certain game would be available on Sunday 12th and we're told yup, we'll have a table for you. Came back into town on Sunday and place was closed ! I thoroughly enjoy coming here. I'm a fan of the bar atmosphere and the fact it's open a bit later. I've lived in the area my whole life and a good hangout spot has always been hard to come by. My boyfriend and I try to go once a week and usually on Wednesday (Wing Night) because their wings are honestly some of the best I've ever had, and I have had my fair share of chicken wings in my life! Their pizza and sandwiches/burgers are great and the appetizers go well with a cold beer. I had the Edenton Steak Sub last night and had to fight my boyfriend off of it. Very good. They do have a lack of "healthier" options. They have salads, but that's about it. But if you're in to bar food and beer they have you covered! read more

The food was GREAT. We are from New York, the land of "wait to be seated" AKA "don't step foot in here until you're told where to go." I see others commented that they didn't like having to find their own seats, but to me, it made it feel welcoming and homey. Our waitress was an absolute doll. She made pleasant conversation and really talked up the town (which I'm already in love with). She served with a smile and that's the most important thing. We had the fried pickles, chicken tenders, sunrise burger, and wings... All of it was absolutely excellent. The burger was bursting with flavor (some delicious seasoning job they did) and the chicken tenders were white meat and fried to crisp perfection. Then fried pickles were addictive!! Went for a burger on Memorial Day when ordering waitress stated they were out of fries (which we both had wanted) but we could have pub chips, pickle chips or onion rings. When our food arrived my friend's onion rings were burnt and I had 6 pickle chips. When our bill came we were both charged an additional $4 for the rings and pickles. We asked our waitress and she said the menu stated substitutions were extra. We pointed out we hadn't wanted a substitute but they were out of fries, she stated no one else complained about the extra cost. I then told her I got 6 pickle chips for my $4 and she said they weigh out each order? We still paid full price for a burger that was supposed to come with a side. Very impressive list of beers so if you are looking for something different in the way of beer this is the place in Edenton. The food is very typical bar food. Nothing special or exceptional about the food but if you like bar food you will be happy. Service is prompt and very welcoming. read more

Initially I went to sit down and eat, but realized I had a work meeting in 50 minutes so I decided to get our order to go. The waitress said it would be 10-15 minutes for the order to be ready. After walking around a shop next door, we came back 20 minutes later and the bartender asked what name the order was under. I let her know we did not give a name and the waitress just wrote down our order and gave us a timeframe on when the food would be ready. She checked her computer and looked confused. "Did you pay already?" So this is when it became clear our waitress forgot to put in the order. It was a little busy and she was the only one running tables so we could understand that. The lies that came after were what made us so upset. We were hesitant to pay because we had a suspicion they hadn't even started the order and I had to get going to make it back in time for my meeting. Before we paid, we asked "it's ready right? We have to get going. If it's just getting cooked, we have to go" she said that it was ready. Waiting around 10 more minutes and the frustration grew. The owner who was at the bar hanging out assured us "it's getting bagged now". 10 more minutes go by. I stop our waitress "hey we have to leave and I don't mean to be rude but is it being cooked or is it being bagged?" She spedwalk to the kitchen and comes back 5 minutes later "there's 2 minutes left on the wings but everything else is done!" So what happened to it supposedly being ready in 15 minutes and that we were assured it was already bagged? All of the staff clearly lied to look out for her when they could have easily said "hey look I honestly forgot to ring it up. I'm the only waiter and it slipped my mind but if you can wait 10 more minutes we can have it ready, if not I understand" that's all that needed to be said. I don't appreciate being lied to and my time not being taken seriously. I won't be back. The food was not all that great either. read more

Unexpectedly we stopped in today on our path to SC and totally liked the atmosphere and decor. We shared a pizza, which was terrific!! First thought (being from NY) was, are we crazy ordering pizza in a small waterfront pub in Edenton NC? Well much to our surprise it was so delicious - the sauce was tasty and the crust was thin and done perfectly. My husband likes to try different beers and our lovely waitress went to further investigate choices, when to our surprise, the bartender (later found out he was the owner) came to the table with 2 tastings for him. Talk about SHOCK!!! Explained each choice by flavor and waited without comment for his pick. Great experience all around ... would absolutely go back should we be traveling thru the area again. Love the pub! One of the few places for a good, affordable sit down meal in Edenton. Also, one of the few places to get a drink and watch a game. Everything I've had there has been good. We stopped here for lunch on Sunday. The waitress was very nice and the atmosphere was good - not too loud unlike many sports bars. The menu selection was limited - they need some non fried food for the sandwiches ( maybe a veggie hoagie). I eat fish but don't always want it fried. My grilled cheese was good and I ordered it without bacon. But just offering salads isn't enough of a choice if I don't want meat or fried fish. My husband had a cheesesteak hoagie which he liked but the meat was chopped very small and not really Philly cheesesteak. Overall we would try them again. read more

Came here because it was like the only place open after 9pm while we were on our way to the airport after we were mandatorily evacuated from the Outer Banks due to Hurricane Florence. I must say, we were pleasantly surprised. Super nice wait staff & nice little bar. I had wings and my wife had the chicken parm sub.
