Best lunch and dinner spot in Edenton NC! I've never had a bad meal when visiting back home. It's the spot my husband and I always want to go with my parents who live in town. The salads are incredible (you can add shrimp, chicken, salmon), red eye chicken is fantastic (usually what my husband gets!), sides are always great and staff is super friendly! Everything is delicious. Prices for quality and quantity are best in town. We live in Charleston, SC and would be paying double the price easily. Plenty of vegetarian options, a kids menu and seating for a big crowd. Can't beat the location in heart of downtown with plenty of parking. 10/10 read more

Stopped in here twice during a two-week work trip to edenton. The first time I sat inside (by the window) for lunch and the second time ordered to go. It wasn't very crowded until I left around 1215, then you could definitely tell it was popular place. During my first experience, I ordered a southwest chicken salad off of the lunch menu. It was a great portion size, even for lunch, and I was quite full afterwards. Otherwise, it was a standard salad. The second time I ordered a house salad to go with salmon. The salmon was really good and perfectly cooked (in my opinion). The salad, however, was a little lacking in quality, I felt, compared to the southwest salad. This is really a 3.5 review! I HAD to take off for the wait.. we stood at the hostess stand for about 10 minutes while many servers hustled by us and did not seat us or add us to a wait list. It gave me racist vibes but I can be bias in a town like this, so I decided to wait and let it play out. The bartender, Devin ended up coming over to seat us and wait on us even though we sat in the main dining area. She saved this experience for me! Loved her energy, and attentiveness. She made a fantastic drink and took care of us on the other side of the restaurant while tending the bar. Food came out really fast and was tasty! We did also get a scoop of ice cream, that was just okay. It tasted generic, French vanilla, but I'm a bit of a snob. The place could use a bit of updating and there were more flies inside than I was comfortable with. I would return and request Devin and I would order the bourbonade again! read more

Stopped by while in town this week based on the Yelp reviews. Cute place with friendly staff, but the food was a total disappointment. Specials for the day were grilled pimento cheese sandwich and fish tacos. Figured you can't go wrong with the specials, right? Apparently not. My wife had the sandwich, it was a drippy goopy mess, with an old oil taste on the grilled bread. My fish looked and tasted like it was straight out of a freezer Gorton's box and the flour tortillas were closer to a pita than a tortilla. Not a great experience. read more

Great food, friendly service. Got seated right away and ordered shortly after that. The kitchen was running a little slow s as Md got backed up. We sat for almost an hour waiting on our food. So disappointing! I had fettuccine alfredo with blackened chicken - the pasta sauce was watery and the chicken so over cooked and dried out I had a hard time even cutting it. My husband had salmon and au gratin potatoes. The potatoes were undercooked and he said you could get better potatoes from a box of Betty Crocker's! We arrived to the hostess station at 8:30 pm. Their posted hours (on their door, on Yelp, etc.), state they close at 9. We were rudely asked to get out of the way multiple times by servers walking past - and were otherwise ignored. Finally, we approached the bar and were told that they were not serving food any longer. I questioned them, asking if I had gotten their hours wrong and they said that they close at 8:30 tonight only despite the entirely full restaurant. Both the early closing and the way they handled us were incredibly unprofessional. Maybe they didn't like who we were, how we looked? I won't even attempt to go back, with their approach to business like that, what else are they doing behind the scenes in the kitchen? Cutting corners on cleaning, etc.? Hard to say. read more

I was pretty impressed by how packed this place gets with it being located in Edenton! The food was alright. The scallops in the appetizer are SMALL & not juicy at all, overcooked at best. I asked for a dirty martini and it was not dirty at all, asked for a bit more olive juice and was given a tablespoon of olive juice in return. We had heard good things about this place. We arrived on Wednesday evening at 7 pm. But we left at 8:30 pm, only having been served our drinks and a thrown-together nuked appetizer -- a metallic-tasting crab casserole. The order never came. I asked for a check at 8:30 and here's the thing -- most other places would comped the drinks and appetizer out of sheer embarrassment, but here I got a bill for $22.97. Not good. I don't want to blame the overwrought server, because the place was obviously understaffed. I had filet mignon with gruyere potatoes and a small salad, and my partner had the day boat scallops with a small salad. Filet was medium rare as request, and the service prompt despite a full house. We just recently went to Edenton for a family reunion and went here with a group of about 22 on Friday night. They offered us three selections from the menu : the red eyed chicken, bistro steak and salmon with cilantro sauce. All were impeccably made with such great flavor and nice portion size. The bar area looked very nice. We say in a private back room which could have used a little update but will overlook that due to it being the best meal I had in North Carolina. 2.5 Stars - Food was decent but not overly impressive and was dragged down by a few preparation issues. There are not many restaurant options in the downtown Edenton area so we opted for the closest place to our accommodations for the night. We arrived relatively early (around 6pm) and were promptly seated. It was good that we arrived early as the restaurant quickly filled up over the course of the next hour. The restaurant is clean and open, even a bit spartan. There is original art work on the walls and the spacious bar is somewhat segregated from the dining room with a single high-boy table in between (a rather odd spot for a table IMHO). Our server, Heather, was prompt and pleasant throughout our meal and quickly greeted us. We opted to try the crab casserole as a starter and a few cocktails. The crab casserole arrived quickly and was piping hot. Unfortunately, it was rather vinegary and seemed to have separated a bit as it had a considerable amount of oil pooled around the edges. My date had a tuna salad, which was cooked to the requested temperature and a I opted for the "surf and turf". My steak was cooked to a perfect medium-rare and had a great flavor however, the shrimp were grilled "shell on" which made for rather messy eating - note to staff that a side plate is a welcome addition if you are eating something with shells so that you can put them someplace other than on your entree plate where they mix with your meal. We finished with 309s version of a "chocolate lava cake" topped with ice-cream. They referred to it by it's Italian name, which currently escapes me, but regardless of name it was rich and chocolaty and a nice finish to the meal. A few notes to the kitchen: With my meal was an order of au gratin potatoes - these, while they had a decent flavor, had "broken" the cream sauce had separated and become very oily. I would guess that these had been held at heat in a warming tray for too long causing this to occur. Note to the chef - the shrimp had not be de-veined and had a very gritty, bitter, dark vein running through them (and we all know what this is). Non-de-veined shrimp don't necessarily bother me but this can be extremely off-putting for some. De-veining can be accomplished without removing the shells it just takes time to do so. Overall, the food was fairly decent and the service was good. Given the prices I would expect a bit more attention to details with regards to preparation and service. read more
