A good place to go to if you're in the mood for some Korean or Japanese food. Their menu has a good amount of selection and their prices are reasonable. They also offer a 10% discount for if you pay for your bill with cash. While not the best place in the world I have been to for sushi or Korean food, the quality is always very good and more than acceptable. I personally like their bibimbap the best. It's always made top notch and tastes wonderful. Always good service with a calm, cozy atmosphere and the food is prepared quickly too. It's also quite clean inside. Not sure what's happening to Gozen. We came here on a Friday night, and the restaurant was fairly full, but not packed and there was no line. All the servers were new (we had come here several times before and they were not familiar faces), which was not the problem. One of the servers cleared a table and we were seated. He told us that they were out of menus and that we had to wait. 10 minutes later, we were getting hungry so we asked to borrow a few menus from a neighboring table. We finally flagged down the other server to place our order. She seemed stressed, and said that the kitchen was backed up so we would have to wait for a bit before she could take our order. Another 10 minutes passed and there was no sign that our order would be taken any time soon, so we asked our first server how long we would have to wait. He said "between 15 minutes to an hour". So we had a few more sips of tea and left the restaurant still hungry. I feel that they needed to be much more transparent and precise about what was going on and the wait times. If we hadn't inquired a few times, who knows how long we would have been sitting there. They should have warned customers before seating them. Hopefully they get their hats sorted... read more

Will never eat at Gozen London on hyde park again!! Decided to support a local business today and ordered some food from here. Ate here many times before and loved the staff and food but I will never eat here or recommend this place again after speaking to the owner for the first time today. Not sure if this whole covid19 thing got to his head but he was extremely rude with a poor attitude all over us asking if it was possible to get a circular container instead of a square one for presentation for a gift. Even ordered more food to fill it but he spoke to my wife in a very demeaning way over the phone and in person where I had to go back into the restaurant and confront him about the situation of why my wife was so distraught after coming out and why it was such a big deal it got to the point where we were yelling at each other in front of his staff inside the restaurant. His words, "If you don't like my attitude then do not eat here". Do not eat here if you like to support condescending people. Don't get me wrong the staff is great and I've always enjoyed eating here before but not after meeting the owner for the first time. No wonder he doesn't engage his customers ever in the restaurant... Guy has no people skills, no excuse if he has a bad day to treat someone like this. I hope he doesn't get this same kind of treatment if he's ever admitted to the hospital cause my wife wouldn't want to be treated like that as a nurse by one of her patients. Been here multiple times in the past and I never leave disappointed. Their sushi rolls are big in size so the value is excellent! The ingredients they use are fresh and everything is made to order. I had a 3 roll bento box for $20ish which I thought was very affordable. Service was quick and the food was good. I wasn't blown away by anything, but I also ordered common maki rolls, which had a good proportion of fish to rice - but the spicy salmon was not my favourite. They used minced salmon instead of a slice of salmon, and they used sriracha and a fruit glaze to make it spicy - not your typical spicy salmon! Still, I could see myself coming back here as its conveniently located for us in the north ish end and has good parking (as opposed to my favourite spots located downtown). read more

Two co-workers and I hit up Gozen for lunch. They did not realize it was a sushi restaurant, so both of them ordered a teriyaki dish which they enjoyed. I had the Paradise Roll, I have to say it was probably one of the best sushi rolls I have had. It was crispy and creamy and delicious. I also had some gyoza and edemame. The gyoza were hot, crispy and stuffed with filling, the edamame were pretty typical. The service was a bit off, I got my food a good 10 minutes before the others dishes came out, and as we were the only ones there, we had to get up to flag down someone to pay our tab. I went there twice - first time, my entire order was done wrong and instead of fixing it, the owner said in a VERY RUDE manner "we don't have time to re-make it"...it was 7pm and they close at 10pm and the restaurant was very empty. The staff were very attentive and kind and the sushi was delicious and fresh! The quality of the fish was quite different from the rest of the restaurants in London, especially compared to all-you-can-eat. I believe they get their fish from a different source. The salmon sushi was thickly-cut, savory, and had a great flavor without a hint of fishiness. The tuna had a clear flavor that came out well with the slightly sweet and sour taste of the well prepared sushi rice. There was none of the clumped-together, unprepared sushi rice here that I see all too often in local sushi restaurants. The torched tuna belly was phenomenal. It was so juicy and the flavor of the fish was outstanding. The Black Dragon was aesthetically prepared and was also delicious. The eel that covered the roll was juicy and soft and didn't have that rubbery texture that you can sometimes find. All the sushi looked beautiful and tasted great. I also got a bowl of spicy Korean noodles (jjambong) and can say that the Korean dishes are great as well!
